      Lot's of people over think lawncare for sure, Depending on where you live (NE here) a lawn needs water, food ( fertilizer) and seed to fill in bare areas. If you've got some moss, lime your lawn. Keep up with the weeds and allow your grass to grow it its proper height (3.5-4.5 with fescue which everyone has here) to help smother ground cover weeds, and spray or pull the rest when you see them. Your local Depart of Agriculture will usually have resources for what fertilizers to use and when, or just buy an all rounder. I personally would recommend using organics as sadly most lawns are missing organic material to sustain healthy soil. Mulch your blades back into the lawn since that's where the fertilizer goes and you're off to the races

    My lawn has been perfect all this year up until the point when I had to travel to Europe for 3 weeks so I hired a mowing company to mow my lawn. From August 1 to Ausugst 25 they mowed my lawn 4 times and they managed to destroy it. They were mowing it when it was actually raining so 1) their zero-turn mowers' tires were skidding thus ripping my lawn; 2) their tires bent down the grass blades so my lawn looked like a Six Pistols concert (mohawks); 3) their mowers couldn't mulch all this wet soaking grass, so they were dumping chunks of unmulched grass on my lawn and these dumps rotted the lawn and created a bunch of yeallow spots.
    This video is as helpful as it gets to bring my lawn back to life. Thank you Allyn.

    This is my second try at growing my lawn in completely bare spots and over seeding it in my yard here in Denver. My lawn was a mess and I was frustrated. Now it is rising from the dead! This video made it happen! THANK YOU! It has been bone dry so after last year's summer failure (no seed sprout)I waited until the last 100º day in the early fall to seed. As soon as the weather turned and saw some rain and cooler weather in the forecast I was on it. I did take care of the severe weed problem 10 days earlier with TZone SE. That has been the most effective lawn weed killer I have ever used and it did not harm any of the existing grass. Broadleaf lawn weeds here in Denver are crazy fast spreading and growing. I have tried (and wasted) several products (available at big box stores) in the past that these weeds just laughed at and carried on. TZone SE was effective within days. Now, I have been hand watering the sunniest spots without fail 3 times a day (during daytime) for the past 10 days. That was key for the seed to thrive. The sun and weather dries things instantly up here in Colorado. Thanks again for helping out DIY's and helping us save a ton of money. I wish I would have watched your videos sooner.

    You are the greatest! After purchasing a new home, the sod the builders laid did not root to this southern red clay. It also came with a bunch of weeds in it and brown spots starting popping up. After watching your videos, I have applied your instructions, recommendations, tips, and tricks. I must say my lawn is thicker than everyone else's. Now that we are in September going into the fall, what do you recommend for preparing your lawn for the spring/summer for bermudagrass? Can I apply these same techniques from this video for bermudagrass?

    • @heavymechanic2
      @heavymechanic2 3 роки тому

      We bought or home four years ago and the cool season grass was neglected in very poor condition. We cut down some pine trees and the grass would not grow. Last summer, I used a towable thatch rake and overseeded with tall fescue. There was a big change by throwing down extra seed in the worst areas.. This year in August, I sprayed the weeds, added 1/4lb tripple-12 fertilizer, waited 3-4 weeks, overseeded again over the entire property at 1/3 the bag rate to help improve the existing lawn.. About Bermuda, its a little invasive, keep up with the fertilizer, insect control and your thick lawn should thrive.

    Hey Allyn! Thank you so much for putting together this video. I'm trying to seed a lawn from scratch. I have a recently graded bare backyard, I have a creek on one side and a wooded lot on the other, and I deal with constantly invading weeds. I also have dogs. I figured I'd best go with "the alpha of all grasstypes"... am I on the right track with bermuda? I'm in north Georgia, and my average soil temp is around 77 degrees this week. Since it has been a few weeks from the time I had the lawn graded, and I've been out of town, I've had some weeds invade. Is there a certain broadleaf weed killer that I can spray that won't harm my seed? I notice the Meso doesn't list bermuda. Thanks! Have a happy Labor Day!

    • @TheLawnCareNut
      @TheLawnCareNut  3 роки тому

      THis is a tough one - mainly because it's late in the season for bermuda seed since the days are getting shorter and shorter. And it sounds like you may have some shade which coupled with dog traffic is going to be hard on the bermuda. I'd be prepared to reseed next spring and hope for the best. For weeds, I would spot spray only with Celsius, use surfactant.

This will stop around 06:00 and each zone for 20-30 min each. It will also adjust to the changing daylight. In addition to it comes with a sensor that measures soil temp and humidity . Yes I to followed your instructions. Friday will be 2 weeks since i seeded.. I have watered 3 times a day for 5 minutes each. I picked mushrooms out of the lawn this morning, so maybe i need to cutback on the time to 3 minutes. Most of the yard is green and thick except for areas that were bear and require the seeding most. I want to cut the grass on Friday accept for the areas that need special attention. Thank you so much and feel free to offer your opinion. I am unskilled and doing the best that i can.

      it's def time to cut back the watering - once per day is good and then get to every-other-day soon after. Feel free to mow whenever you like, just be careful of those thin spots like you mentioned. Nice work all around Millie!

      Alan, i bought the air8 to apply to my yard. My neighbor helped me with measuring the product and setting up the sprayer. Anyway 4 days after application i got a perfect benefit with my Maple tree that has clorosis for 30 years in the yard. The leaves turned green. Not the whole tree but about half. Some of the leaves have a tinge of red. So happy. The grass looks great. What a pleasant result. Thank you💕

    Thanks LCN! This is the first year on your plan here in TN. Yard was stressed and beginning to show signs of getting healthier. Next year we may tackle that Bermuda grass. (Like killing it off!!) and reinstalling tall turf fescue.

    Hey Allyn, welcome to Fargo. This was a game changer for me since I have been watchin you for year's but you mostly cover Bermuda grass. We had a bad drought this year and I am amazed at how different this yard looked after only two weeks. I dethached my yard because I thought it was unable to be saved. I only did my front restoration but the backyard will done per this video. I have been wanting to get into lawn restoration up here. Thanks for the video! I hope you can do more up here in the Fargo area.
