    Doc goes over the timing issues we face with warm season grasses. There will come a point soon when major projects need to stop. Warm season grasses are in their peak growing season now, but as cooler temps move in we need to make sure we have at least 6 - 8 weeks of warm temps before doing any major work.

    doc why dont you sell a program that people can buy and we get the products at a schedule when they have to be applied kinda like how scott does. And it also encourages people to watch your video.

    Thank you Doc for another great video packed with information. Army worms were horrible in Southern Alabama last year, but not a one (so far) this year. I give the credit to Double Kill, been putting it down every 60 days on my Bermuda.

    Tif Tuf Bermuda is amazing! Gave up the failing cool season long fescue as I live in the South and it looks bad when the weather gets hot. Plus, everyone’s grass gets a fungus. My lawn is the happiest when it’s hot. We got a robotic lawnmower to handle the frequent mowing.

    Doc. . . Great video, again! I love that you get technical and dumb it down too. I need the latter more often than not. Thank you. Question: Do you know if EGO is going to make a battery powered thatching machine anytime soon? Keep up the great work Doc.

    Hey Doc, maybe you could find a local machine shop to make a rear roller replacement for one of your reel mowers that could serve as the rear roller but also have thin sharp discs that would vertical cut also. Or an attachment that could mount on the back that drops down when you want but raise up when you turn around or cross the sidewalk.

    I had a weak area of my lawn, dug it up and realized the landscaper laid the sod directly on construction debris. I got a few new pieces of sod to repair the area. While cleaning the area up I also notice some small grubs. I have some doublekill and want to put down some down. Can I put the double kill directly on the new sod? Or should I put the double kill on the bare soil and then lay the sod on top? Or should I hold off on the double kill until the new sod is established?

    Once the weeds start dying , do you pull the dead weeds?

    • @OriginalThePk
      @OriginalThePk 3 роки тому +1

      If you’ve treated for weeds, there’s no need to pull the weed itself. For the most part Bermuda (if that’s what you have) will fill and grow into the areas where the weeds were essentially choking out the weeds. There are actually some weeds that have seeds within roots so pulling them could increase possibility of spreading the weed. If you treated for weeds, follow your schedule or a recommended schedule and apply pre-emergent to prevent any further weeds from growing.

    Hey Doc, we're just getting started watching your videos. You said don't panic with new sod but we're panicking. It was gorgeous the first month here in Newnan GA, but now it is browning and thin and I'm terrified I'm losing a huge investment. Leave it alone....or what guide should we follow? We're watering like crazy. Thanks!

    I'm in AZ, where it's 105-110 deg, so essentially in permenant drought, but I water a TON. even do the daily watering as you have recommneded. The past month my bermunda just doesnt look great. I've got my McLane at 3/4" (was at 1/2" in the Spring and it looked awesome). I tried a hard cut to 1/2" and it grew back - it keeps growing and I have to cut every 3 days - but just isnt all that green. Lots of brown showing through. anything to recommend besides PGF and water??

    Doc, I have 16 week old Tifway that is barely greening up. Three weeks ago I got some replacement sod after the utility company did some excavating. That has really taken off and looks fantastic (except for the nutsedge). Should I consider plugging from the healthy section to unhealthy sections to give my Tifway a jump start for next year?

      I believe the rule of thumb is no fertilizer / chemicals for the first 6 months. Not sure what part of Texas, I’m in Fort Worth, and you’ll want to keep that Bermuda sod wet. Also, if the builder doesn’t do it I would roll the sod several times. 👍

    • @2shotsofvaca411
      @2shotsofvaca411 3 роки тому +1

      Water it heavily for the first week or so the roots can take off. No pre emergant or weed killers for the first growing cycle, spot treat or hand pull. Don’t fertilizer it immediately or you can potentially stunt the growth, don’t aerate new sod, don’t detach. I know that’s a lot of don’ts, but new Bermuda sod is picky. Since it’s late in the season, I’d say your best bet is to just water and mow.

    • @NikoliFerra
      @NikoliFerra 3 роки тому +1

      You're going to want to water it often to get it started depending on how long it'll be down before you move in. I recommend 2 times a day for 2 weeks and then you'll be able to lower your watering schedule to 3-4 times a week.

      I personally wouldn't worry about high iron in the lawn itself. If it really bothered you, you'd want to raise the ph higher to balance it.

    Doc,
    I have a celebration bermuda lawn in South Louisiana. It has rained, no joke, everday the last 4.5 weeks with maybe 4 days of no rain. Hard rains that have absolutely saturated everything. I am cutting about every 3 days in between rain showers but the yard just doesn't look right. What should we be doing with this much rain? Should I feed the lawn or will it just wash off. I have stayed ahead of fungus and bugs but I just think the ground is so wet we are in danger of roots rotting.
