      Yes, use it. Just be aware that a layer of mold may grow in it. Skim it off and use.

    Hey Doc, I'm at an inch and 1/2. If I know rain is coming and I drop mower to next level on my Toro 22" Recycler, I'll get some scalp marks in yard and it will leave me with a brown stem look. Do you still suggest the lower cut b4 rain?

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  4 роки тому +1

      It's fine with bermuda to take it low and ugly... it will come back. It's just tough to low with a rotary of ANY kind.

    These are some good tips to prepare before a thunderstorm. It’s ideally for the retired man, how’s your typical full-time adults, particularly with the family would never ever have time to mow their lawn three times in two daybefore rain. Not very practical, but certainly ideal if you have the time on your hands.

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  5 років тому

      Who's retired..... there are 90 production hours in a week. Plenty of time if you make it.

    Doc, Just wanting to say thanks for the info you provide. Historically, I have never known or cared much about yard care and this was the first year that I invested time and money in such. Your videos laid the foundation for my program, and the results have been great.

    Doc, from the time I was old enough to cut grass until I was 60, St. Agustin was the only grass I dealt with. When we moved to Northeast Georgia I had no idea about Bermuda. Everyone I talked to about it had different recommendations, and most contradicted what the last person suggested. Living in the same general area (up 985) your advice is germane to our lawn. Thank you for your insight and perspective.

    Doc, my yard is so dry!! It’s like no matter how much I water it’s doing no good!
    Last yr I bought a new house and had no idea how to care for Bermuda. I had the prettiest yard when I moved it and all season...so I thought nothing of the height. I let my Bermuda stay at 3-3.5”. This year, I have BATTLED thatch....it’s like never ending(plus more comes to my yard from my neighbors, who does nothing to his yard, every time it rains). I have power raked, hand raked, aerated, and have my yard at its lowest 1 1/2 to 2” trying to go slow getting it down. I have also battled fungus. But my soil, though I am in the red clay Upstate of SC, looks like sand it’s so dry! I have watched all your videos and visit your website along with following your 2019 calendar, but I’m dying here in SC...I can’t seem to get 2steps forward on my lawn! Help!

    Just put OFF complete on my rescue lawn last week. Lawn looks great after a couple of thunderstorms. The 5,000 ft bag only covered about 3,000 ft even though idropped the spreader setting from 4.5 as recommended to 3. (Scotts edge guard). Recommend setting spreader very light and !along two passes because the stuff is so tiny. Certainly will buy again

      mulch for 90% of the people. When your lawn gets so thick you walk on TOP of the grass... then bag .

    During the drought times. How much more do you run your sprinklers? We are having the same dry spells and i run my sprinklers 20 minutes every other day and I am seeing dry patches. Just curious how often you water to keep that green look. Thanks!

    • @unafilliatedx2310
      @unafilliatedx2310 5 років тому +1

      Its better to run your sprinklers 1x or 2x wk for longer periods of time. Try setting your zones for 60 minutes per zone 1 once a week. Twice a week if your still getting dry patches or you could go 90 minutes once week. I used to do the same as you and noticed a huge difference when i switched to longer less frequent run times.

    As a detailer for over 15 years i apply the spray wax after a wash before you dry. It will work just as well and drying with the towel spreads it evenly. Saves a little time.
