EXCELLENT video! I have the same pump and it has developed an "intermittent" problem starting, unless you tap the container. Once I took it apart, I found it has heavy calcium deposits just like yours. Before I consider a new pump, I will definitely do what you instructed, which appears quite simple and a lot less expensive than a new pump. Thanks for sharing!!
@@needsofnavy5586 I did not need to replace the switch, but easy to do if needed. Took the container assembly apart, cleaned the crap and calcium deposits off the the pump and all the parts, put it back together and its been working like a charm!
Thank you! I have the same pump and the build up on the exterior of the pump. I didn’t know what it was and if I should replace the pump. I’m so glad I saw your video
Hi, my 53 pump is tripping the GFCI. I took it out and cleaned it and didn’t see water inside the switch, just oil. After I cleaned it it worked outside the water but once I submerged it, it tripped the GFCI again. Not sure what’s going on
The pump shouldn't be on a GFCI protected circuit. In an emergency situation, you wouldn't want the pump to stop working because of a GFCI trip. You could always have an electrician look at it to make sure everything is wired properly and that there isn't a short to the pump housing.
U ever replaced or cleaned the impeller at the bottom? Was worried about breaking that seal or breaking something else trying to get the bottom cover off..
My experience I never had issues with the impeller, basically because if you do this and remove the calcium, the impeller will run free and will have minimum wear over the years, I would not recommend to do that. Thanks for looking at my video.
My sump pump had more calcium buildup than your pump. My next door neighbor's sump pump is perfectly clean and water is pristine. Our homes were both built in 1995. Any ideas why our sump is covered in calcium and they have no problems? Excellent video!!!
That is interesting, normally the houses around you would have the same issue, it is related to the soil around the house, which would not be very different than yours, but this technic would help you get it cleaned to look like new. and I do it every two years at my house, so it does not get as bed as it shows in the video anymore.
Buy a new pump do not trust your expensive items or finished basement on a compromised pump that you fixed yourself they have a 3 year warranty the pumps like a 150 bucks say you hire a professional and they charge 300 to install it 450 bucks every 3 years to not have to wonder if the pump will work or if it will ruin your basement that could be thousands and thousands of dollars in damages I've had it happen to me and I'll never mess with this shit myself again
I don`t disagree, make sense, I did spent a lot of money in my basement, but I also have backup pump, camera and sensors to inform me in case of a pump failure. thanks for the advice appreciate.
My Zoeller has been working great for 25+ years now. I only hope that they're still being made with this quality. Buy the best model pump, $150 sounds like a cheap one. If I've got 27ish years in this pump now, my savings according to your numbers is over $4K.

Thanks for watching, btw as maintenance I do this every two years to keep the pump clean.

Excellent advice.
Glad you think so! It does work very well. and expands the life of your sump pump. I see so many good pumps been trashed when it is totally fixable.
Great video, really helped me a lot !!!
Glad to hear it!
Quick question - How many ounces of CLR do you put in the bucket. I saw 2 bottles - What size are they? Thanks again.
Hello it is the 28oz bottle. Thanks for watching. It is an easy fix.
👍👍
How many ounces in each bottle?
I believe 32oz
Excellent video❤
Glad you liked it! That’s how I keep my pump goes from almost trash to new. Thanks for watching
My Zoeller stopped working. How would you know if it might be just the floater switch?
You have to take it apart.
