Well I mean according to Honda they didn't sell enough 9th gen Accord coupes to justify a new one. That's why the 10th gen Accord is a sedan, but with coupe like roofline. Also why you can get a manual again with the bigger engine, something that was only reserved for 8th and 9th generations. That being said, a resurrection of the Prelude with this engine would be neat, but enough people wouldn't buy one :/

WB Wayne, unfortunately Mazda is no longer even offering a manual on their new 6. Last year it was only available in their base sport model. Honda is the only game in town now for enthusiasts that want a mid size sport sedan with a manual. Nice to see it’s actually well equipped as well.

@@drivedb7 I have no personal experience with Toyota's MT's. But the latest generation of the Camry with a V6 is a vast improvement over earlier models. Personally, I think it trails both the Accord 2.0L turbo and the Mazda 6 2.5L turbo on a number of points but if there were a trophy for "most improved" the current generation Camry should probably take it home.
Stephen Hendricks - I agree to a degree. The new Camry is an improvement over its predecessor, but the last car was so mundane, anonymous and lifeless that it set a pretty low bar for the next car to jump over. In V6 trim it’s quick, but it doesn’t feel much quicker than a Highlander or Sienna minivan, and it’s essentially the same V6 engine the Camry has used since 2008. To put it plainly, I just don’t like it, but I can see why others might. I’d definitely take one over a crossover. That’s for sure.
I have a 2018 Accord sport 2.0.L with the 6MT. I agree with basically every statement that you made about this car. Honda has made this car for every type of buyer, and yes the 2.0 sport manual is the enthusiast's car. I love my Accord, I put a PRL stage one intake on it (really amplifies the turbo sounds). Also, the Goodyear touring tires that they put on these cars are not very good. Mine were to the wear bars at 14,000 miles. I put a set of Toyo Proxes sport tires on it and it made a noticeable difference in how the car drives. Great review on the car!
I wonder if Goodyear realizes the damage they are doing to their reputation by supplying such lousy OEM tires. The RSA tires that came with my car were so noisy by 20K miles I had to get rid of them. It probably goes without saying that the one brand I did not consider replacing them with was Goodyear.
Would there be a decent way to remedy that? Would just using the transmission from the Type R be easy to do because it's basically the exact same engine?
@@memillionthdoot4436 Ballade sports has been able to mount a Type R LSD in their Accordz but it involves using the Type R final drive, which is 4.1, vs the Accord's 3.9. Also requires some other Type R specific parts I just wish Honda themselves did it factory

The great standard transmission from honda!! Till this day never seen any issues since i worked for honda the past 12 years.. Done so many recalls. One thing i noticed theres no recall applied to manual civics, accords or even s2000

Just for reference only the J37 had that amount of torque (275ft-lb) and even then it was at 5K RPM.

I always hated the low beam / fog light beam pattern separation leaving a massive dark shadow gap between the lights on the road. Once you crawl under the bumper where each fog housing are, there will be holes in the bumper where you can adjust the fog light upward blending it with the low beam creating a massive road visibility improvement! Just need a long screw driver to adjust. I didn't own an Accord but drove one for a couple months and HAD to adjust them myself. Haha.
Just square off that back end with a hatch and you have the perfect combination of performance and practicality! Seems like in the US those two concepts will always be mutually exclusive.

I found a Certified Pre-Owned '21 Accord Touring 2.0T with 4k miles on it and decided to buy it instead, because losing 27 lb ft of torque and 48 horsepower in no way feels like an upgrade to me. I'll keep this one for a few years and see where I go from there. Unless Honda offers a more powerful Accord, I'll likely not be buying another Honda. It's a shame they're dropping such a great powertrain. I know it's not a super fast sedan but the 2.0T package is plenty quick and very reasonable to maintain. I get well over 30 mpg on the highway which is most of my driving. Hard to beat this package.
I just bought a 2020 2.0t manual. First thing I did was acuity short shift kit. Wow! What a difference!
3:26 this won’t hurt my new car’s engine life
Ok
👎
Keppey prolly has warranty anyways
It wont hurt it to rev it all the way out, as long as you don't do it constantly, its a modern engine, its not gonna let you over rev it
Okay boomer
I've got a 2.0T auto Accord sport. Highway on/offramps put the most insane grin on my face every time. It corners damn near flat. Though with the auto, corners and traction control kill the vibe. Sport mode + trac off makes it far far better.
Your car is automatic?

You forgot to use the blinkers in the beginning, you could’ve killed an ant
The 3.5L 8th gen to 9.5 gen 6-6 will always be my favorite. Surprised alot of people with way more power.
Yup! i had an 8th gen v6 6M. with HFP upgrades. Miss that thing!
way2fitTV same I miss both those gens. Two of the best cars I've ever owned.
This is definitely one of the best sedans in the world.
Our 2018 Honda Accord EX-L stickered for $30,865, including destination. Over the course of a year, we added 13,302 miles to our odometer. In this condition, the Edmunds TMV Calculator valued the Accord at $23,815 based on a private-party sale.
That works out to 22.8% depreciation, which is slightly worse than the fleet average of 22% average. The depreciation level is even worse when you consider that the majority of our cars pass the 20,000-mile mark. Edmund's longterm Accord
How so???
Reliability and it will lasts a very long time in your garage. Plus there's the fun factor of it being an economic fun sporty sedan that is easy to park too.
I mean, I'm not a big fan of luxury in my sedans. I'd rather go for something fun that has normal luxury like leather seats and a pretty good Interior with a functioning satnav...
@@rampagedingo who needs satnav when you have a smartphone? I can't think of a single manufacturer that's made a better satnav than the Waze app.
Really hope they bring back a coupe model for the accord 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Hopefully as the prelude 🤞
It would be cool but they just don't sell. I used to sell new Hondas and in a year I think I only ever sold 2 coupes.
For real. An Accord coupe with the 2.0T would be badass.
As a Crossover.
I had a 2018 Accord Touring 2.0T for 9 months and loved it. Only sold it because of a deployment but man it was a fantastic daily driver and might just be one of the best road trip cars out there for any price.
Military buying a Japanese car?
The Accord and its engine are built and assembled in Ohio. What does active duty military have to do with buying a car anyway?
@@KealeyOnCars if you had military plates on your Japanese or Korean car while pumping gas you'd get a handful of questions from me.
You would be quite surprised to find out Military personnel buy their cars the same way as anyone else in America.
Since you asked. Mazda still offers manual
3:38 it feels like it has more than 252hp for some reason, because it actually has more, around 280hp and 310tq to the crank 😅
Great car in every way. I was hoping you would get to this one. Looking forward to your daytime review. This car is definitely in my top 5 that I’m considering and in this exact configuration and color. Nice to see Honda offer such a compelling package for those of us with kids but still want to enjoy the drive.
Don't forget to put the Mazda 6 on your list, as so many seem to do when shopping this class of car. Good luck.
WB Wayne, unfortunately Mazda is no longer even offering a manual on their new 6. Last year it was only available in their base sport model. Honda is the only game in town now for enthusiasts that want a mid size sport sedan with a manual. Nice to see it’s actually well equipped as well.
@@subvet3668
I was aware of that. I really wish they would combine a manual with the 2.5T, but I seriously doubt that would ever happen. At least their 6spd auto tranny isn't a CVT. I think it is actually the best midsize class transmission around. Seems to always get the best subjective reviews also.
@@wbwayne8887, the Mazda certainly is the best looking car in it's class, hands down. I've never understand why Honda's engineering is great but exterior designs are so annoyingly off the mark and over styled.
@@subvet3668
I couldn't agree more. The days of the simple, yet elegant and sporty designs of the Civic, Accord, Prelude are gone. Of course the Prelude is altogether gone. Inevitably, I do believe it will be back someday though.
I drove the Mazda6 2.5T and loved it. With the automatic and all the luxury features it’s a gentleman’s express. The torque is monstrous. I may need to drive this manual Accord 2.0T to compare.
They're very similar cars but the honda's interior/infotainment is just so much nicer IMO.
They pretty much stopped making the Acura TSX and TL to put more effort into the accord. I like that
Many of my friends want Jettas, Elantras, Passats, Golfs, Civics and stuff... bro... I need an Accord. Classy looking, beautiful interior, great reliability and the exterior oh my gosh, I'm just in love with it.
Overall great car, drove it before as well. Only thing I dislike is the back of the car.
Me too. The back destroys this otherwise handsome car. Reminds me of impala from the back
Absolutely agree. The rear end design ruins the whole thing for me.

Bob O It kinda looks like a BMW to me
You're making me want to go out and drive my Z hard.

Topher thanks for the awesome review! Just got my 2019 Honda Accord Sport 2.0t. Love it :)
How is it holding up? Any issues? Got fuel pump replaced under recall?
One word........manual😍😍😍
A little surprised at the amount of road noise on the highway.
Honda’s are known for that.
I have an accord 2.0 touring with CAI, repro and toop bost and I can tell you that it is a wonderful car, comfortable, spacious, reliable, very fast and elegant, I am more than delighted with it, if you have the chance to buy one, do it. You will not regret it, I assure you!❤❤❤
If Honda can still make a business case for a #manual Accord then Toyota ought to be able to make one for a manual Camry.
Right Lane Hog - Toyota’s manuals are ghastly. The Camry is the type of car which deserves an automatic only.
Stephen Hendricks especially the XSE V6,It's really very hard to pick between Mazda 6,Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry.
@@drivedb7 That's not what they are saying about the manual in the new Corolla.
$10 says the power figures are underrated like in the FK8 CTR
with an LSD this would be the perfect touring type R for me
Would there be a decent way to remedy that? Would just using the transmission from the Type R be easy to do because it's basically the exact same engine?
@@memillionthdoot4436 I would think so.
@@memillionthdoot4436 Ballade sports has been able to mount a Type R LSD in their Accordz but it involves using the Type R final drive, which is 4.1, vs the Accord's 3.9. Also requires some other Type R specific parts

With the hondata tune and decent tires this car is a ton of fun
What kind of tires are you referring to?

Alex Thepalex haha yes, for a moment I thought this was somewhere in Europe at the beginning
The great standard transmission from honda!! Till this day never seen any issues since i worked for honda the past 12 years.. Done so many recalls. One thing i noticed theres no recall applied to manual civics, accords or even s2000
Why would you rather have the hybrid? Choose the manual!
Well if you don't want to destroy the environment with pollution then people would choose hybrid. Now only if the hybrid had a manual
It feels like more than that... Well having 273ft-lbs from 1500RPM is what I would call a quantum leap... The old V6 had 250ft-lb at a sky high RPM of almost 5000RPM... So yeah what you are feeling is not HP is the kick in the butt of that crazy low end torque in a Honda?.
Just for reference only the J37 had that amount of torque (275ft-lb) and even then it was at 5K RPM.
I always liked the 8th gen, EX-L v6
I hope Honda brings back the manual transmission accord back
I love honda for that space for the subwoofer
5:45 I put in short shifter parts from Acuity and it made all the difference in the world the shifter feels like a Type R or an SI
Can I just say, I think the 10 speed automatic seems to give more performance with faster shifts. Now I know if you're a pro driver yeah you'll beat the automatic but for most people, that automatic transmission is sick

0:26 *I love this STATEMENT*
I always hated the low beam / fog light beam pattern separation leaving a massive dark shadow gap between the lights on the road. Once you crawl under the bumper where each fog housing are, there will be holes in the bumper where you can adjust the fog light upward blending it with the low beam creating a massive road visibility improvement! Just need a long screw driver to adjust. I didn't own an Accord but drove one for a couple months and HAD to adjust them myself. Haha.
You probably adjusted them perfectly into incoming drivers eyes
Imagine a Accord type r I know they existed but imagine a new one

Not in to new cars but man thank god this car and the corolla are given manual options. This is awesome mane.
Just square off that back end with a hatch and you have the perfect combination of performance and practicality! Seems like in the US those two concepts will always be mutually exclusive.
When you first started talking I thought I was watching Savagegeese.
It's such a great car. I test drove 2 2019 Honda Accord Sports. 1.5T 6-speed manual and 2.0T 10-speed automatic. My choice would be the 2.0T 6-speed manual. But now I drive a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab LT Z71 truck.
