Hello,
In today’s video, I am back in the entrance hall and making a stringer to go alongside the stairs, running from the ground floor to the first floor.
If you enjoy making dolls house furniture and miniatures, you might like my books; I've published 5 so far and they're all available to purchase from Amazon - just search for Julie Warren.
I also have a Patreon page, where you'll find more great videos every month. Thank you for watching and Happy Miniaturing!
Julie. xx
The staircase is absolut perfect!!!😍
Good job getting it lined up
Thanks Joyce.
I was at a museum two days ago and I saw a building like a dollhouse.it had several removable walls. The builders had built tracks into several of the walls and so wall sized pieces could slide in and out. The pieces were also decorated on both sides. If any expert out there wants a challenge.
That stringer looks fantastic, I knew it would!
Measure twice cut once. You always have great advice. Thank you.
It's lovely Julie - beautiful.
Thank you so much!
You are amazing! I don’t think that I could accomplish this sort of craftsmanship in any size scale😂
Wow, just finished the doll house diary in about 2 weeks. Great content and looking forward to seeing what else you do with your house. Now, to watch all the furniture tutorials!! 🙂
Thank you so much. I hope you'll enjoy the furniture episodes. :)
Good advice to make a template first I will be doing that for my next set of stairs. Thank you again Julie x
Not to worry about that window…you’ve got it!! When we watch the how-to, it’ll look like anyone could do it. Great job so far.
Thank you. :)
Very enjoyable watching you do so many wonderful projects that I can't do.
Lovely!! It is really coming together Julie!
Thank you! 😊
I’m glad you managed to get the stringer made. Stairs looks so much more realistic when one is included….Many a time I look at otherwise beautifully decorated dollshouses without the stringer and it doesn’t look at all right somehow!
When I’ve done the stringers in all my houses it’s been a fiddle as dollshouse kits don’t seem to allow for the extra space it takes up in the opening in the ceiling!
Great job you’ve done Julie 👍🏻
I will look forward to you getting the understairs cupboard fitted next, which may encourage me back into getting mine finished, after having broken two doors in my efforts to build it in my tiny entrance hall 😢 (I had to poke my hand through the living room door which I broke and then snapped the understairs door as I was fixing it into position!😮)
Oh Joyce, I've done things like that too! It's so frustrating, but I'm sure you'll work out how to put it right! I agree that a stringer really makes a stair case. I'm looking forward to getting the entrance and hallways finished off. xx
It looks really nice!
It looks wonderful! I usually avoid skirting because it’s so fiddly. Making the card stock template makes it look easy( ALMOST). lol
It can be fiddly, but I really like how it finishes off a room and hides the imperfections around the floor line! xx
Your dollhouse stairs are looking wonderful. Staircases are kind of scary to me for some reason. Just going to have to jump in!💜💜💜
You can do it! :)
What a wonderful dollhouse! I just finished the trim on my stairway, yours looks much better, but then mine is a tavern built in 1640s Oxford and much altered. I am learning much from you and I am glad to have found your channel. I still have lots to do to finish my tavern, I am sure I will take a lot of inspiration (and hints) from your work. Cheers!
Great job! So glad it the template fits the other stairs. It real makes a difference. Look so good❤ Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Liz.
Looks great!
that was a task all it's own...lol
👍👍👍👍❤️
Hi Julie, just to say I simply love watching your tutorials and seeing the wonderful transformations taking shape. I'm currently working on my kitchen following you and for the first time, actually taking the plunge and making the furniture! Not to your standard, but I'm getting there. I did wonder if you could let me know the sizes of the windows you have at the sides of your house please. My dolls house is almost identical in terms of size and number of rooms and I would love to add in side windows to bring in more natural light. Keep miniaturing for us all Julie, all the best Julie M
I have been watching these videos lately and thinking about the dollhouses I'm working on. They are my first ones and I really want to do my best. I also keep thinking about the fact that they are made out of very thin plywood. I really want them to last a long time. How do I make the plywood stronger ? Or do I put my efforts into making a much stronger bookcase into a dollhouse ? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
My dolls house walls are 9mm (3/8 inch) thick, which does make it really sturdy. I'm not sure if you've built the houses you're working on, or if they're kits, but if you're able to perhaps line the walls to make them thicker, that might be a good idea. :)
@@JulieWarren I use kits and the wood is very thin. I have been concerned about the time and effort I put in to constructing them because they do seem so easily breakable.
I live in a studio apartment and am not allowed to use power tools.
Hi, I'd like to know where to find the dolls house sizes?
Hi Karen, for mine, you'll find a video in the Dolls House Diary playlist. :)
