    I feel like this is what Krav Maga SHOULD be like… instead of how it’s actually taught in most places. Extremely practical and efficient. I really love the way that this fellow teaches. Always so mindful of his students and always stresses de-escalation and getting away whenever possible. It would be an honour to take a knee to the gut from him (as long as I’m wearing pads!!) 🤣

      Believe it or not this is how the traditional Karate styles originating in Naha would deal with this situation. sadly too many martial arts have opted to be sports & cut all of this stuff out in favour of ridiculous jumping back spinning kicks, because they get you more point.

    Most t-shirt grab video's show the right hand grabbing and the left hand punching which is not realistic but looks good as you are attacking with you're right hand.This video shows how to protect yourself from a real right fight situation as the attacker is grabbing with the left and hitting with the right.Fantastic demonstration and excellent explanation as always from Michael.Job done.

    Great class.
    Love the angles of attack from the punches, hook, uppercut, straight whatever but are you going to cover the uppercut and straight attack as most were the hook.
    Given that most street fighters employ the hook/haymaker I understand why you concentrated on that angle of attack.
    Also great to see the different ranges employed in the counters, from the knee and the kick to the groin. Showing that while in the arena of combat you still need to be watching, thinking and being aware of ranges, what techniques to use at those ranges and the overall tactical situation.

  • @Shacksies
    @Shacksies 2 роки тому +1

    Man, I have to say, I recently learned the hard way that you are absolutely right about that tight cover being way better than trying to reach for a block. I was fighting a shoplifter at my work who was trying to steal a lot of champagne. After I dumped her basket full of bottles onto the floor, she began picking them up and trying to hit me over the head with them. I managed to block one but reached too far out to try grabbing her arm, and she slipped around my arm and smashed the bottle right on my head. I managed to stay conscious, tackled her, and threw a couple punches to her face, and then her and her partner left with only a couple of the dozen bottles they had been trying to get. But I will definitely be training this drill and ingraining this tight cover into my reflexes now.

      You guys need a locking foyer, one of our local liquor stores put one in and all they do is wait for people to get past the first door and hit a button and they’re locked in like a rat in a box till the cops get there. It’s hilarious.

    • @Shacksies
      @Shacksies 2 роки тому +1

      @@fingolfin9086 I have repeatedly proposed doing that but the company I work for is cheap as fuck. Glad to know other liquor stores have done things like that, though. So fucking sick of this penny pinching company who doesn't care about their employees or the criminals we have to deal with.

      Sounds like youre not a very good security guard.

    • @Shacksies
      @Shacksies 2 роки тому

      @@Scott-xb7ov not a security guard at all. I have successfully stopped at least ten shoplifters as a regular employee, and nearly got fired over it. In this case, I stopped them and chased them out even after almost getting knocked unconscious, so I'd call it something of a success. I'm just a guy who does martial arts and tries to stand up for what's right. The person who hit me was at least 6'5 and over 250 pounds, and I didn't expect them to suddenly start hitting me like that. Many lessons were learned but I'm not Bruce Lee, man. Even the security guards in this area aren't allowed to do anything and I was going completely rogue there.
