- This is my honest review as a Speed UTV paying customer.
Minor issues:
Check engine codes- many fault codes and cars cutting out for no real reason.
Accessories such as stereo or led whips cannot be turned on without the digital dash turn on.
Some stickers peeling, and foam interior peeling. within 2 days.
Speed led whip failed 2nd day.
The car's digital - need some work. It was already freezing multiple times during the ride.
There needs to be a center support for the car's roof.
MAJOR ISSUES
The car's power steering has major feedback and needs to be addressed.
Skid plate should come standard in my opinion.
The brakes I really feel like they're under sized and inadequate for this car.
GOOD THINGS
The car overall is very well built.
The engine performance is more than enough for most people without the speed key.
The suspension was amazing.
It felt like driving a trophy truck.
The Tech when all the bugs are worked out. It will be amazing and even allows you to sink your phone to your digital dash.
Having a real style truck bed.
The tires and wheels worked great.
The way you can easily add speed accessories.
They are all plug and play.
The handling and steering was nice and tight.

Great video man. Well done….. I like your style. Beers are on me if I ever get the pleasure of running into you. My crystal ball is saying your gunna be dealing with constant issues and just fixing a lot of them yourself. And you will continue to update us with excellent straight shooting feedback for the next 3 years and 4 months.
Great video, hope all the feedback is taken seriously and should be as your first customers. I too was always wondering about the dash and in my case the second dash. Sounds like it has slowness issues, buggy or under lowered (processor wise) for updates and ultimately the screen mirror function has to work flawlessly to hit the mark they sold it as. I will be checking out your other videos as soon as you post them. 👍👍👍
This is actually pretty awesome when you think about it. You are helping them work out the bugs on first productiin run. The fact rg already said they are going to swap out parts and quality check. This helps long term everyone else who will buy one. All new cars even my xx's had issues the first year out, but mine are 2020 and a 2021 which between the two are also different. I am hoping in the next year or two order or buy a speed utv.
Yes. I still recommend the speed utv to anyone it's a great car. Just needs some small fixes.

@@Blazin2133 ignorant ? These guys have been waiting years for the "game changing "sxs and didn't even get to take them home . There are other manufacturers in that price range that have been proven reliable. When they were ready to release there product it was good to go . I'm not hating on speed but I won't be selling my pro R any time soon to get one ,but if it all comes together as speed promised I would definitely buy one
@@arnw7933 it’s barely over 3 years since they started this venture. They can’t win. People complain because it’s taking to long and they complain because they have semi released something that isn’t perfect. No other manufacturer went from 0 to potential race UTV. They started with a basic UTV and progressed over a lot of years. Completely different approach to what Speed is doing. They brought the first production models over and have given them a shake down and I’m sure they will fix the issues that come up. They can’t afford a failed product like the other billion dollar companies could. The first car owners may be somewhat of a Guinea pig but their feedback is going to make the machine better and it’s not like they’re just giving them an inferior product without fixing the issues.
@@Blazin2133 August 2019 is when I put down my deposit. So about 3 and a half years. And they told me to pay in full back in August 2022. So kinda a little sore about that subject as I feel they have been earning interest off my money for a while now. But I do believe we needed this process and feedback from customer to make everyone a better car and I'm happy to be part of it.
@@duboisaviation2024 I feel your pain. I put my deposit down in October 2019 a month after Sand sports but haven’t had to pay in full yet. I can’t speak on what they’re doing with your money but if I had to guess it would be paying for machining and other things that were required to get this process going. I don’t think they have any intention of screwing anybody over so I’m sure they’re doing everything they can to make sure this is a smooth roll out with as little issues as possible.

No car comes with a good skid plate unfortunately , but driver error is driver error, great review love hearing the bad stuff I hate sugar coating stuff

Great video. Personally I would have loved to be one of the first cars, and be part of the process with the owner of the company. Was it perfect? No. Did anyone expect it to be perfect? Probably not..
And YES, I think they should hire you to work out the bugs on that digital dash. Again great review!

great review. Definitely sounds like it needs some bigger brakes if your only option is to lock em up. Maybe they didnt bleed the brakes fully.
You talked about one vehicle damaging the transfer case, it had a plastic skid i think you said. Do you know if that was the “stock” skid plate, or the upgraded 1/2” skid plate package they offer? Thanks
It had the thin factory one.
My favorite part was the dash can play a movie, but doesn’t work well as a dash.
It’s a crazy undertaking that Robby is doing designing these things and manufacturing what seems to be every component. I’ve seen and laughed at the memes while everyone has waited for their cars. The first year for the owners will be very interesting since most people will treat their cars very differently than the test drivers. I’ll be glad to see these things out in the desert here over the next year.

Does any manufacturer give you colored lenses for the light bar? Does any other manufacturer give you light bars? No...
No only chase bar had different lenses I think.
Is it your understanding that they know of these issues and will correct them?

In reading the comments, I see that the poster was asked to "PAY IN FULL" for his car back in August 2022 and still doesn't have possession of his car? That is unbelievable!!
Just what kind of Kool-Aid is Speed UTV handing out? I mean really, a sizeable down years ago and paying in full before delivery.....in what world does this happen for any product?
Listening to his review of some of the things that went wrong; wire rubbing on driveline?? A tuning issue?? Car hit a rock on the transfer case and broke it?? Broke the transfer case....no protection?? Sounds like Speed may need a few more years testing and developing.😂😂
So all this is to say that this car will have just as many problems as any other mfg......remember this, the faster they go, the faster they break! I don't care who you are......good luck!
Yes they asked me to pay in August stating if I wanted to get my car roughly 2 weeks after the sand sport show I needed to pay the remaining balance.

This is the first review that I feel like you said exactly what you think without running it through filters. It sounds like the fundamentals of the car is good and fun but the devil is in the details. I’d be alarmed if this is “production” yet there are still so many issues. I mean anyone adjusting the fuel maps at this point to make it idle is alarming. I hope they get it all figured out but I don’t think Id be signing up to do the R&D on it. I look forward to driving one
I put my deposit down but I am having considerable regret. The quality is not there yet. The ultimate factor of any vehicle is that it can get me back home. It has to run and it has to drive-especially on mountains and other terrain. I was at the unveiling and the decals alone made me question my decision. If they cannot get the decals right, then what about the rest? The backup cameras weren’t clear at all. The decals were pulling away from the plastics, the clamps that hold the window nets were installed over the cage and the clamps scratched the cages badly. On one, I noticed the lower a-arm had scratches/marring on it from a tool that tightened the jam nut on the heim joint. Some of the doors wouldn’t latch. Then, for any car to break down on its first trip? That’s an absolute disgrace!!! My 2017 RZR still has the OG battery in it! Over 3k miles-never broke a belt. I have been everywhere with our RZR and it’s always gotten us to where we need to go. And for the price I’ll be paying for a Speed car ($60k), it should be a solid machine that can stand anything we respectfully throw at it.
Dude, you’re out of touch with reality. You’re comparing your 2017 RZR to a brand new car in its first month. They’re working on the details, it’s not finalized. They are addressing the issues as they come. Did you expect perfection right out of the gate? Come on
Did you see the car yet? I’ve never seen such an inferior product ever displayed. I am just being brutally honest. Trust me, I want to see this car succeed lol. But when you see severe scratch marks on a brand new $65,000 dollar from assembly, that’s just bad. When you go on one ride and wash the car after, and the graphics will literally be destroyed, that’s bad. It reminds me of the Tucker when it debuted, Lol. Any way, I am a fan of the car, I have skin in the game. But there are some things that must be correct before it arrives to the dealer.
I have spent my life in manufacturing and quality assurance (QA). I am a quality engineer and audit manufacturing facilities and their QA system for a living. Trust me when I say this, they have no real continuous improvement program in place. I would even volunteer at no expense to help them get one in place.

Just to be clear I drove the car for almost 10 hours of straight hard driving on Sunday. From 11am to 1130pm with only a couple stops for lunch and breaks.
I could buy anything on the market and chose the KRX1000 because they have proven over and over to be the toughest utv out there. I rolled mine bad at the dunes (big diagonal jump, my bad) and still drove it home. Speed will be a legacy of good ideas crushed by poor execution.
Seems complicated process. Lots of fancy stuff. Lots of money. Although I’m $40k into my X3 it is ultra reliable. Never a breakdown or tow.
Hell ... my Turbo S is more power than I need. Unless you're a dune-runner I just don't see the need for all the juice. But to each their own
We're you disappointed with the bbq. Panda Express would have been the choice for this outing.
No, I think overall it was good. The tacos were good, on the ride they had hot dogs, but we made sandwiches for our ride.
I never broke in my yxz and she's running strong still, you don't need to break anything in.
Even street cars are supposed to be broken in until first oil change.
@@duboisaviation2024 we build high horse power engines and not even those go through a baby stage of not getting on it they are freshly built high horsepower motors and transmissions and first thing you do it throw em on dyno and put load on them and do a dyno pull I don’t see why a utv is different on if there is a break in period
@@Boostipher I don't know man. On aircraft engines, we have to run mineral oil for the first 100 hours and not do a lot of throttle changes during that time to break in the cylinders and rings. Maybe that is old school thought process. That is just what they told me. Just to be clear I did not baby the engine, I was driving it hard. The trans I didn't shift on the fly is all.

Um turbo s is 168hp, the speed utv is over 200hp without the speed key and 300hp with speed key. The math says the speed utv is faster imo.
@@njorgnjorg6057 in 2nd gear being a total baby on the throttle.... Faster than a 168 or 181hp polaris? I seriously doubt it. A stock X3 is 200hp and you can put a $1000 tune on it to get to 280hp. Im excited to play with a Speed UTV in the dunes or desert someday if they ever get them to consumers...
@@RecreationCertified I don’t think he meant the speed utv is faster than a turbo s in second gear I think he means over all which it should be. I believe the speed car is at 225hp without the speed key so I don’t see a turbo s keeping up with it or even a x3. Time will tell. I guy can tune any car to a certain hp so that is irrelevant really. What’s nice about the speed car is that you have a key that makes it 300hp and car stays reliable. For what we are told anyway. You put that kind of hp I’m any other brands your gonna have problems. I’ve seen it on the race track all the time with all the manufacturers
@njorgnjorg6057 there are factors to consider like weight and also if that transmission can actually translate that power to the ground. Not only that the speed utv turning radius is wider, I don't see it beating a can am x3 on trails and on a straight line, those extra 25 ponys will not make a difference since the utv is heavier. Speed breaks are horrible from what I hear even after 110 miles they still can't stop that car imagine going on a close course where you stop every minute on turns the breaks will give up, if you want the wildwood upgrade than that's a 3000 more on top. But then ur talking not stock any more.

Yes they actually had me pay back in August 2022 when they told me I would take delivery 2 weeks after the sand sport show.
My x3 blew off the charge tube in less than a mile. My buddy's wire harness fully shorted out in less than 400 miles. My other buddy went through 4 belts in less then 200 miles. Secondary clutch was messed up. We all bought our cars in 2017. They were 2018 models. None of the brands are perfect. But speed is still working on everything so that's a positive.
Typical Robby Gordon. He let’s people see the cars before they are truly ready to be seen. And that gives him a bad name. Robbie has a problem with promising things and cannot back them up. This is why other companies do not show the car until they are ready. And he never should have given a release date when he could not back it up. Giving the customers the cars before they are ready. it’s going to be a huge mistake. It is going to give him a bad name.

It sounds like you guys are really trying to justify having to be test dummies for engineering that should have already been done by speed. I can't believe people are putting up with this after waiting so long for them. I think the suspension will be excellent but I fear you guys will forever be chasing a fix for something unfortunately. I really hope I'm wrong for all the guys that put down money for these cars.
I think we are giving a little fornthe greater good of everyone's car. I rather have all of us have a better car by allowing us to be the testers.
@@duboisaviation2024 I really do hope it all works out for you guys and the cars live up to your expectations. Competition only helps us all get better. I'm not a fan or the looks of the size but for their intended buyer that seems to be the look people want. I'm a x3 guy.
Robby will not build junk! This is a big undertaking from the ground up. There’s going to be a little problem. He will take care of it. Guaranteed. Let’s go back in time when the Yamaha rhino came out. They had problems and that’s a big corporation. Exact same thing with our RZR…
Robbie is the offroad Donald Trump. Everything with the speed name is made in China. He chooses not to build the cars in North America, where all the other real sxs's are built. My krx is made in the USA 🇺🇸
Shift on the fly is something I don't hear people ask for. Stopping for a second to shift isn't that much of a hardship.

Unknown as of right now. But its nice for positive airflow to engine
