I think there is something wrong with the camera recording, green line at the top of the video and an effect over the whole video
@@Asingh-mi9oo I think it is your equipment, I don't see any problems so far. Halfway through video.
39 years old and Second strongest man in the world. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Would love to see a video of you just showing off your trophy case
Good luck Brian, next year is gonna be even harder , Mateusz and Martins will be back but I want to see you get that 5th WSM title, you're a class act and you deserve it, so work hard and do what you do
@@Sanzitvilla he doesn't have time for our comments, it's disappointing but true
"You're still a fucking legend to me Brian"
Eddie Hall and 1.62 million people
Amen to that!
@meow purr meaning???
@@carlgreen998 I think it's self explanatory, he sucks up Brian's energy, tries to be the center of attention all the time, that's what I believe he is saying, I'm a Eddie fan but I can see how he would feel this way
@@bustinyanutz4195 The weird part was seeing serious Eddie last week, on multiple occasions. I usually find him very funny, but it was a "hey I could hang out with that guy and buy him a beer" feeling instead of a "better you than me with that a**hole" reaction :)
@meow purr On camera yeah, but Brian has said that off-camera, Eddie knows his boundaries and when to be serious.
Tom is a monster who is just now hitting his prime
The fact that you pushed him to the end, after 15 brutal years making the final and hitting the podium, just shows how timeless and colossal your strength, of character, mind and body, truly is
Forever the greatest, an inspiration to millions, Thanks Brian for continuing to do your best, and showing us all that the seemingly impossible can become reality with hard work and perseverance 💪💪💪
Furthermore, Tom had to have a near perfect run, while Brian made multiple mistakes and STILL nearly beat Tom.
This comment is incredible
@@jon4661 Furthermore, Tom is not even in his prime and he did mistakes too. + He hurt his hamstring a bit while deadlifting
@@jon4661 Tom dropped after day 1 made multiple mistakes too, stop trying to take away the achievement by him.
But Alexey Novikov is much stronger. He was just unlucky this year, getting a cold and being in a tough group.
“Don’t take criticism from someone who you wouldn’t go to for advice”. Love that. Keep inspiring Brian !
So good
Very thought provoking
I've never heard it put that way before that was awesome. That changed my view on a lot of people
Brian has done so much for this sport and it would not be where it is today with him.
I love that advice. On the other hand though, should you take praise from someone you wouldn’t take advice from?
A mental coach is key. Even just to put up with Eddie Hall.
All I can say is LOL!
..........what if Eddie was the coach all along
DUN DUN DDDDDUDUUUUUUUUUUN
"Don't take criticism from somebody you would not go to for advice." That`s a stong point
he should put that on a T-shirt or wifebeater. I would 100% buy that
Meh, advice can come from unexpected people. It sounds good on paper but.. meh.. i get it, dont take critic from just everyone.
Sounds good but is too black and white
Brian: Excuses
I really hope that Brian will win WSM again and become 5 times World's Strongest Man.
He probably won’t but hope he does
Unfortunately, I think 2021 WSM was his best shot. No Novikov, Kieliszkowski, or Licis this year.
@@jaster030 people been saying that since years and this year he proved them wrong!
It's over
He has it in him
Anybody else notice how good of a public speaker Brian is? This video wasn’t cut once and he didn’t stutter at all. Just one more amazing thing about Brian Shaw.
Yeah I'm pretty positive that's a reason people follow him.
Stan Efferding is the same way. Never stutters and talks for like 10 min straight
@@drealboy_ Stan uses an ear piece.
Yes, he does quite a few "ums" in there, but he will get a bit more polish and be the best commentator in the industry.
He's been in the sport so long that his level of comfort with it all is pretty high. Along with his diplomatic personality and how he articulates his thoughts he would make a great commentator in retirement (not saying he should any time soon).
Eddie said it best.

Brian, you are one of the greatest athletes to have ever lived. You’ve beaten some of the greatest names in strongman and your attitude, work ethic and analytical approach has driven the other competitors to the levels they are at today. I met you briefly in 2015 at the Arnold Australia and you were friendly, personable and gave me some great tips which really helped with my recovery of grip strength post wrist surgery. Regardless of whether you win another WSM or not, you will always be a massive hero of mine and many others. You gave a fantastic account of yourself and should be very proud
Having all contestants in the Shaw Classic perform the same maneuvers seems like a fair way to pick the winners. WSM giving its groups different exercises must give some folks an advantage.
Brian: I will always be my biggest critic
Me: Well ya your 6'8" like 400lbs who else would it be.
@@JustinCasey216 First of all, what is your point? I'm not quite sure. Also, where are you pulling these stats? I highly doubt he has 22% bf. He's likely
@@JustinCasey216 If I offended you, I apologize. You made a bold claim and didn't support it, so I challenged you. I don't intend to defend anyone, just trying to see how true your statements actually are.
Now, you are saying we should listen to science, but your proof is to "look at him". That is not scientific. You clearly have not spent any time around very strong men. There is a lot of variation in body fat with Strongmen depending on how far they are out from competition. Given Brian just competed, he's likely much lower in bf% then you are suggesting.
As I said before, BMI is well known to produce inaccurate results with athletes. I would recommend you do some light reading and not make extremely controversial statements solely based on what you think your eyes are telling you. You're trying to make a point, but you're using your feelings as proof instead of producing actual data. Anyway, just trying to help you see a thing or two and I appreciate the opinions you've provided me. Have a great day!
"the only person to blame is the person in the mirror" - true champion statement
Lukas T. Well not really. People are not to blame for their age, injuries and state of health. They may be but not always
Hafthor should take note
In a country where everyone is taught to be a victim and blame others for their problems, Brian's self reflection about why he took second place is refreshing.
@@tonybarfridge4369 you clearly did not get the point he made...
Unlike Thor
Brian came in and proved the old dog still has bite left in him. As a fan, I couldn't be prouder or happier for him. I truly hope he continues for another 2 or 3 years, especially if he can perform like he did. No matter what he does, I hope the Shaw Classic blows up, and becomes the go to event outside of WSM.
Mental coach, Brian you needed a technique whipping coach...Best saying I've heard is "Amatures train to get it right, professionals train to never get it wrong"...By no means are you an ameture it's more the emphasis on a %110 dedication to form and Technique....Ways to disrupt yourself in training to exercise your mind to remain focused on technique..Play music you hate, crank up the heat in a training room to unberaiable, anything that can strengthen you mentally to remain focused on form, think outside the box....Love You Big Man, keep fighting the good fight..

Brian's reached a status to where he isn't just a top contender for the title, he's the final boss that the other competitors have to overcome if they want to obtain it.
*BULLSHIT*. He's reached the enviable stature where the sport has greater need of him than he of it.

You right
So true.
Yeah, Brian's a good guy to represent USA. We couldn't be luckier.
"Don't take criticism from someone you would not take advice from" - Jesus, what a statement.
I can second that one, probably one of the wisest ways to look at responding to other people.
It's a dumb statement. Anybody can criticize anyone, hell if someone in the gym has poor form, a 12 year would probably notice they look weird. If a UFC fighter goes for a risky takedown and gets guillotined, any regular nobody would be able to tell them "yeah probably not the best idea" but that person wouldn't go to that person for advice. Theres tons of examples why that's a dumb statement and it sounds like something somebody who cant take criticism would say.

You're a living legend Brian.
"Brian Shaws washed up, hes done, he needs to retire already!" LITERALLY FINISHES 2ND AT THE AGE OF 38. You're an incredible athlete and ravenous competitor. Watching you lock in before a competition, then attack it when it comes, is truly an inspiration. I don't know how much longer youre gonna compete for (people seem to leave strongman at very different times in their careers compared to traditional sports), but i'll be cheering you on the entire time. You got me into strongman, truly one of the greatest to ever lift a stone (and every other event :p )
Brian Shaw is so ridiculously humble for being one of the greatest strength athletes of all time. How can you not be a fan of this guy? Keep up the fight Brian 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Humble? hes always making excuses, in his speech hes talking like this was a series of unfortunate things and he was unlucky to not win WSM, in his mind he is the best no matter if Tom win it or not.

Yep, Hafthor must learn from Brian
@Purev Rompat Name them
@Ryan Navas Nah man ,unlike Hafthor who would blame Eddie for being stronger, accuse WSM for cheating and compare his loss with Daughter's loss etc , Brian never did any of those , he blamed it on his body, his deit and his training and always appreciated the winner
Brian is held to such a high standard due to his successes and how he holds himself to account. Anyone else getting 2nd place would be getting all the praise in the world. Won’t be long until Brian gets that 5th title 💪🏻
WHY?? Better for him, Eddie, Darren, Oberst to work to make the sport BIGGER, BETTER and DEEPER.
You will get em next year I found your UA-cam channel last year while going through a divorce and your videos have helped motivate me to hit the gym again and it helped get me through one of the hardest years in my life
Never mind Brian your still one of the strongest men to ever walk this Planet & you will win it next year.
You are literally the reason that I'm obsessed with strongman. I remember you with your sports shades on pulling a truck during one of the WSM competitions and making it look easy. (That was the time when WSM still used those really wide stretched out videos.) At the end of the day, you proved that after competing as a strongman for this long that YOU'VE STILL GOT IT. Much love Brian.
2014 maybe
As Arnold said "Ignore the Naysayers".
You're a Legend Brian, a true inspiration.
2022 that 5th WSM title is Yours!
@Zeben Solomon naysayer right there
@Zeben Solomon well Brain performed mediocre the last couple of years and now he is even older and almost won, he's got it, still, everything is possible.
Man you highlighted my feelings exactly! I've been telling people that WSM 2021 for me was very bitter sweet. I have been rooting hard for you to take home that super number 5 victory for a couple years now, and to see you come 2nd really hurts. But to see Tom take it all, knowing how hard he has been pushing and how hard him and his brother have been working... He really deserves a WSM title, he worked very hard to get there. And the fact that he clenched his Victory by defeating Brian Shaw, king of the atlas stones, in the Stones.... Just makes it all the more awesome for him.
Enough blathering, 2022, you're taking home that 5th championship!
Your positivity and professionalism are an inspiration. Thank you for continuing to do what you do.
You realize how competitive Brian is when he puts in an incredible performance at World’s and is still critical of himself. Ten years after his first win he’s still at the top chasing titles. True greatness! 💪
To say it with Eddies words: You are still my f*cking hero Brian!

Love you Big Shaw. Thank you for pushing your limits and being a constant professional
Gotta love Brians super positive attitude, still the greatest in so many of our hearts
This is one of the healthiest competitive mindsets I have ever seen. Driven to do better, reflective of flaws without being reductive or destructive, not blaming outside sources or others. Truly the mindset, outlook, and capabilities of a true champion.
You've just proofed to everyone that you're still one of the strongest men on planet. 2-nd place is a hell of a good performance (plus, you were competing against much younger lads)
At 39 years old and coming in second place against a stacked lineup it’s just crazy.
I can’t imagine taking a very close second place in something like strongman and having to take criticism from average joe. This just makes things more interesting for next year plus we get more entertaining preparation videos. Keep it up Brian.
Brian you done an incredible performance in world strongest man, take everything in and come back next year harder/stronger to get that 5th title
I’m a Tom fan, but I love Brian for his attitude, and the way he conducts himself, and especially what he’s done for the sport. I hope we see much more of him in future
Imagine being the second strongest man on the planet right now and still being a little disappointed 😮 Brian is one of the greatest of all time. Up there with Zydrunas and Kaz
There so much hard work involved
@@briantruck2284 yeah, that's true, but nothing's guaranteed and everyone there works very hard. I think Brian was at least the most professional athlete there
I know you mean well by your comment but of course he will be disappointed, he should be. He has expectations as a 4x champion, he trains every day for it.
@@Josh_17 for sure. Although sometimes I feel as if Brian doesn't realise how good 2nd at wsm actually is. It's literally the 2nd best of like tens of thousands of strength athletes wanting to be him. But still, winning is always better that not winning.

2021 Brian was the best we've seen in years. So happy to see you back on the top of your game.
Brian is growing grey hairs on his face and he still kicked ass to the very end of the competition. Just makes you think of what kind of beast he was in his prime
A big enough beast to go toe to toe with Big Z for the better part of a decade!
@@brutus3341 Brian's the only reason big z dont have 6 or 7 titles man is a legend
He definitely was the dominant beast for awhile man and it was fun to watch. He still is a beast though, I think he'll still get that 5th. It will be epic when it does happen too.
Humble in victory, gracious in defeat.
A true gentle giant.
You changed a lot about your prep and it worked! You increased your last year's placing of 5th to 2nd this year. It's a huge improvement. The Brian Shaw standard is just so amazingly high. Not sure if you've done the math, but in the last 20 years, you have the second highest percent of points earned out of possible points of all WSM finalists! Novikov is #1 and your average is over 13 Finals whereas his is in 1 final so you may as well be #1. Keep your head up. What you've done, including this year, is incredible.
I love that while you are saying you could improve at points in this contest to do better, you aren’t taking anything away from Tom and you say that he would look back at this competition and still see where he could do better. You are the best man. Hope to see you back next year, ready to take it all!
Brian is such an amazing ambassador for the sport. He's exactly what all young aspiring strongman competitors should be looking to as an example. Pure class in both victory and defeat, a true champion.
Second place at this insanely stacked competition is an amazing feat of strength. Anyone who disagrees with that is, frankly, not worth listening to.
If anything, the massive improvements Brian has shown over the last year show that the race for the 5th title is still on.
I'm thrilled to watch WSM 2022!
Not just a normal second place. This was a second place in which he made Tom earn his win. This was a dominant second place.
I was hoping Brian could win another, but he’s still a legend in my eyes 4x WSM champion, absolute beast
Did he retire?
Brian Shaw, you are by far my favorite contemporary athlete. Your modesty, humility, sincerity, passion, and sportsmanship is surreal. I think you performed fantastic at this year's World's Strongest Man. Sometimes the body simply does not function as intended. Tom Stoltman is in his prime and simply performed at his peak throughout this contest. I believe that next year will be your best year because you will be working on your diet, training techniques, and addressing any other training related components. You will be 41, but what should be taken from your age is that you have the genetics and proper training background to persist. You train smart, careful, and its effectiveness is evident by your consistent performance.
were all still proud of you man, you went from 5th last year to 2nd. It doesnt matter where you start its where you finish. keep pushing hard and next year you will continue to move up! you got this shaw!!!
Anyone that watched Tom's trainer Dan interviewed by Big Loz, he hits the nail on the head where he mentioned folk talking about Brian Shaw is in the final and the reaction is "oh that Brian Shaw" anyone that's watched your uploads knows you meant business this year you could see that in how much you had adjusted and shredded weight.
So I am Canadian Boy!! But I love watching your content!! I was routing for you in WSM 2021!! What I like about you most is your character!! You are very confident in your abilities but you’re also very caring about others!!! You are an incredible man, husband and father!!! You are a real man Brian!!! You rock and always will!! Nothing puts me at ease like Brian Shaw sitting on a comfy chair on a porch.
Whilst you've been in Stongman, you've had the greatest competitor's the sport has ever seen, and you're still pushing blokes that are just touching their prime and pushing them all the way. Just like to many countless others, you're a hero Brian.
I mean let's be honest you're still performing in a way that would be the highlight of the vast majority of strong man's entire career
I won my competition on the weekend 💪
Congrats!
Well done 👊
Good job. On to the next competition
Brian Shaw has been at the top for years. Being able to come second after so long is remarkable. I know these men want to win everything all the time as that’s how they’re born and bred but everyone knows how great Brian is. And he is absolutely ginormous.
It is eye opening to hear this. Everyone else thinks Brian has done ridiculously well.
Brian himself - ‘I wasn’t good enough. I’m disappointed’.
That’s why he’s 4 x WSM and why I fix trucks.
Everyone knew, watching you train, you were the man to beat. Tom had a fantastic WSM. And he knew you was coming the whole time. You're the greatest ever. No question.
This mindset is why Brian is one of my all time favorite athletes

I agree, giving someone the title of "Michael Jordan" of their sport is much more than just recognizing their skill. It's bringing attention/recognition to your sport, paving the way for future generations to come, being known for people that don't even follow the sport and much more. Not everyone watches basketball, but everyone knows who Michael Jordan is.
Brian Shaw is doing exactly the same for the strongman and I'm sure he is going to be remembered as the goat.
What can I say: this man is beyond phenomenal !! Thank you, Brian for your words of wisdom and constant encouragement to go out and be great.
Brian you represented the USA proudly. You are a 4X WSM CHAMPION and not alot of your competitors can say that. You are an inspiration and I will always have your back, win or lose.💪💪🙏🙏
Honestly, I counted Brian out in WSM. I thought the events that relied more on speed and not static strength were something that had passed him by. But, being able to see just how he well he did, it is really amazing. Brian did great, ofc still has room for improvement, and really proved he is still in the game and extremely competitive! Stay healthy and let's get number 5!
It seems whatever changes he made REALLY worked, I wouldn't say that I counted him out, but the age factor seemed almost insurmountable to me. Very glad to be proven VERY wrong by an amazing performance, I did notice that Brian is the third WSM competitor who talked about a mental coach (Tom and Luke Stoltman mentioned it.) Maybe them being open about that can help other people who need to seek mental help. We all know that many are having problems and nothing is being done about it, likely due to the stigma around it.
Hopefully this year’s performance will shut the “Shaw should retire” crowd up; tired of those guys…. Looking forward to the Shaw Classic, and the potential of a Shaw vs Stoltman stone showdown again! Or maybe it will come down to Shaw and Big Z again! Going to be a great show!!!!
If anything this performance makes me excited for what's to come. The changes you've made have clearly had a fantastic effect and if you continue down this path I see greatness!
Been a diehard fan since 2013. Our household is Team Shaw. We were so proud of your performance and placing. #2 in the world and right there at the end. Many years left in the tank!!! Legit proud of you.

Huge thanks to Brian and all of the amazing competitors that work so hard day in and day out to be amazing! Next year will be epic!
Side note I'm blown away by Brian's ability to just send a 20 minute single take video in such a professional and professorial manner. He is as smart as he is strong!
As always, a professional. Always looking for improvement, and never whining. "It is not the critic who counts..." Can't wait to see where you take it from here. Be Well, Be Strong.
