"Records can be broken, but titles don't go away."
But you're still in the books for both
@@supernoodles908 technically. When someone beats your record, you get replaced as the first name in that category. Titles always only have one name to them, and will always be recognized as such.
Best. Quote. Ever.
@@dadimadh4528 really sums up Big Z's mentality. Only problem is that he also held and still holds a shit ton of records too lol.
@@gabbeskillz6262 Good point! But if I'm not mistaken, most of Big Z's records were set during his participation in full competitions he was trying to win.
from 2009 to 2016 only Shaw and Big Z won. DAMN
Prime Brian and Zydrunas going head to head with Thor constantly nipping at their heels was such an exciting time in the sport. Hopefully Mateusz and Martins can get back to full health and we can enjoy a 4 way battle between those two, Novikov and Tom Stoltman.
It seems the “smaller” (lol) guys in strongman do better in the fast moving events, but are much more prone to injury.
@@TommyNitro yeah definitely. It’s not often we saw the giants like Brian and Thor injured. I feel like Tom Stoltman has that naturally big frame too which will be an advantage over the other guys if he can bring up his weaknesses like grip strength.
@@steveunderwood8145 It's a shame that Hafthor is so much younger than them, would've loved to see all of them compete against eachother in their prime . I feel like Hafthor in his prime is better than both Shaw and Z in their prime.
@@TheJoker-yz8dv Man I almost fell for this bait but luckily saw your name.
@@Sanugon he's correct
Brian Vs Big Z was the most exciting event in strongman history
I'd like to see one of your history videos on this rivalry and see some of their greatest monents in events and competitions that they went head to head in, results and more details in how they pushed each other.
This is a great idea. Loz please make this video before someone else with zero charisma and who’s rubbish at makings does it.

I think he was talking about Matt Rhodes Sport
Funny how shaw and big z stopped each other getting the fifth title
Very true, without Big Z Brian would have at least five and without Brian Big Z would have at least five. Also they did tie on points in one WSM (2009 or 2010 I’m not sure) and it was given to Zydrunas in countback so technically Brian is close to the five
@@jaket2274 Yes it was 2010 and Brina shaw made a amatuer mistake with the sandbag loading which costed him 2 points :(
@@vincentchao9916 I’ve gotta go back and watch that final. Was that the one where they ran through the water with the bags?
@@jaket2274 yep

Always very good to hear what Brian has to say. Good interview with 2 very humble legends
A pleasure to listen to two knowledgeable and respectful athletes talk about their time in the worlds greatest sport. And I agree with Brian, we need to see you back Loz.
Love the respect between the great men in this sport. All animals that want only to win but at the end of the day they endorse each other's individual greatness. Rare in the world and these guys stay true. Very impressed by you two and how you give accordance to each that has earned it. Awesome stuff guys. You inspire me
Except Eddie and Thor😂
All of the Big Z vs Shaw head to heads at the major competitions in their primes:
WSM 2009: Zydrunas 1st place, Brian 3rd place
2010 Arnold Classic: Zydrunas 2nd place, Brian 5th place
WSM 2010: Zydrunas 1st place, Brian 2nd place
2011 Arnold Classic: Brian 1st place, Zydrunas 3rd place
WSM 2011: Brian 1st place, Zydrunas 2nd place
2012 Arnold Classic: Zydrunas 3rd place, Brian 4th place
WSM 2012: Zydrunas 1st place, Brian 4th place
WSM 2013: Brian 1st place, Zydrunas 2nd place
2014 Arnold Classic: Zydrunas 1st place, Brian 2nd place
WSM 2014: Zydrunas 1st place, Brian 3rd place
2015 Arnold Classic: Brian 1st place, Zydrunas 2nd place
WSM 2015: Brian 1st place, Zydrunas 2nd place
2016 Arnold Classic: Zydrunas 1st place, Brian 2nd place
2016 WSM: Brian 1st place
@@drealboy_ Big Z didn't compete at WSM 2016 so that's why I didn't mention it in my comment.
@@TheJoker-yz8dv I guess he came last then

@@andrewchambers9282 Probably because nobody pushed Brian tog get better like Z did.
This is a great idea, Big Loz. I hope you continue taking 10-12 minute snippets of your epic talk with Brian Shaw. You did a marvelous job of making profound observations followed up with a poignant question, and then politely sitting back and listening intently to Brian’s very detailed, passionate responses.
Loved this video / post such amazing genuine athletes/men xxx
@brianshaw is so humble and @bigloz is soooo underrated. When you look at his competitors, I thought Loz would win 1 WSM injuries cost him.
Good idea breaking the show up into clips. I've seen the the full interview but I'm sure alot of people didnt get all the way through it
Brian will always be my favourite but I think even he would say that Big Z was his better. Big Z is the GOAT and Brian is a very close second.
Brian vs Big Z is one of the greatest rivalries in sports history. How many other sports had the two greatest athletes of that sport competing at the same time
Football Messi and Ronaldo, Basketball Kobe and MJ, Rugby Wilkinson and Carter, Tennis Federer and Nadal and that’s just the sports I know but yeah every brilliant sportsman has to have a brilliant rival to like Brian says make each other even better
He is right a record will always be broken as great as Eddie was in history he won’t really be remembered for his deadlift world record he. Will be remembered for winning wsm once
He will be remembered for the deadlift. Ffs. Haha
We HAVE to have a pt 2! Plzplzplz!
this is awesome:) post clips/highlights
This is the best strongman channel. 👌
Brian has that whole “I’m just a humble guy” act down...
1. Big Z vs Brian Shaw
2. Big Z vs Mariusz Pudzi
3. Jon Pall vs Geoff Capes
3 greatest rivalry
4. Bill Kazmaier vs Geoff Capes
Ver Magnusson vs Badenhorst & Kiri was always fun to watch
Hafthor vs Big Z who wins?

Brian is so intelligent. Unbelievable how cool he is
Love your channel dude
Both legends.
Uncle Loz coming through with another great interview.
Its great BIG Loz lets Brian talk. That's what the best interviewer Parky would do. Amen.
It would be cool if you did an interview with Andrew Raynes! I know he only competed in WSM once, but watching him compete in the finals against Karlsen, Samuelson, and Virtanen despite being barely over 5ft tall still boggles my mind!
In what they say about having the will to win and how ppl are built different well Mariusz was much smaller in stature but still won the plane pull in 2008
I hope to see Brian and Big Z going at it together again!
Brian Shaw is the Goat! Great interview.
Mariusz pudzianowski is definitely the goat but Brian is right up there for sure.
Big Z def has more trophies but Brian has pushed the sport further and is probably the best ambassador one can ask for.
The potential for an 8 times worlds strongest man was there if Brain or Zydrunas wasn't present for all those years. The dominance those two possessed was incredible.
Loz, would be great to see you compete at the next Shaw Classic... right that historical wrong! 😅
great podcast as always
brian should help mateusz to reach his peak potential
You and everyone needs a good rivel. If anything to at least motivate and drive you
Honestly Brian v. Big Z seems to be like Tom v. Brian I love it
Tom v brian???? No
@@danielblyth2841 Tom and Brian were #1 and #2 last year at wsm
@@dustinkunish377 once. Hardly. Rivalry
Mateusz Kieliszkowski really needs to work on his deadlift
I wish Brian wouldn't talk about a tie at 2010 WSM as if they both tied for 1st and both stood on the top step. They tied on points and under the rules there was only one winner and that was Z.
Yeah and also they tied on points because Big Z took it easy on the stones. He knew what he had to do, he had to come 3rd to win and he did. He could've easily went faster and got 2nd place which means he would've had 1 point more than Shaw. Also in the deadlift Shaw got gifted a rep that wasn't locked out.
The fact is Z placed better on the events overall which is why he won on countback, I've seen people say Shaw was cheated which is absolutely ridiculous. It was ridiculously close finish but the fact is Z edged him.
He tied because under the current rules at the time there was no tiebreaker. They made up a new rule on the spot and gave it to Z. If it was current rules they would’ve gone by the last event, which was stones, and Brian would’ve won.
@@caelahrens9767 You think it's fair to give the win based on one event instead of overall performance? Absolutely ridiculous.
@@AA-tq7dm getting to the end of the competition and using the last event as a tie breaker is better than just saying the winner from the previous year keeps his title
Oooh, Loz is coming back, he has to now 😉
Shaw just comes across as a first class human. A guy that big and strong could easily be a dick but he clearly isn't.
Mariusz vs big z was the greatest to me longest z vs shaw
Mariusz isn't even close to Big Z
@@mustang8206 Are you having a hard time reading? the Rivalry not strength
what you didn't like about Marius?
What would you say is Brian's best event?
Keg toss is pretty awesome to see him do. But, Atlas stones all day long.
@@tieiatalks Yeah, was thinking that myself. Remember like a 600 pound stone back in Arnolds or something.
Yeah I’d say atlas stones or keg toss. Brian isn’t really the best at anything but he’s usually consistently good at everything.
@@steveunderwood8145 Yeah, was wondering about that myself. Big Z his rival had numerous World record lifts but Brian has very few that I know of and he always seemed to come out on top.
@@ciandoyle8453 most athletes have one or two weaknesses. Zydrunas wasn’t so hot on things like arm over arm, Mateusz on the deadlift etc. Brian has never had any stand out weaknesses. Even on his worst events he was still top half of the table 👌🏽
Just wait for The Stoltmans vs Matheush , it's gonna happen
Big z was by far the strongest hands down . A lot of the events suited Shaw like keg toss , stones etc because of his height
Well...that is it then...Big Loz is coming back since Brian said he should. lol
Do you think that Z and Shaw will still push eachother? If Z gets injury-free that is. It would be amazing to see these two mutants battling it out again.
Wsm Masters in the future :0
Big Z still competes tho? So there is a chance these two goliaths go at it again.
almost happened at shaw classic 2020
@@makaan699 will happen at Shaw Classic 2021 😁
Brian's face is looking slimmer
He weighed in at 385 lbs on his newest video. Rookie weight.
If either one of them wasn’t around the other would’ve won 8 titles
Records can be broken but titles never go away.
Great words. This reminds me why I laughed at all the people gushing over Thor's deadlift record. Like who cares? It will be broken rather quickly.
Yes but Thor has 10 major titles to fall back on and hasn't shown any indication of being bothered in the slightest if the record was broken. He's already said he did it to prove he could, it's not about holding the record forever.
@@AA-tq7dm Thor has one WSM and two Arnold's? I mean in the sport of Strongman those are the titles that matter. Thor really hasn't done much.
@@nicholasbourcier Thor has 3 Arnold's in a row, One WSM, a WUS title which had ALL the top guys from the big shows competing and 5 ESM titles and won all of them in the same year. To say he hasn't achieved much in the sport is just pure naivety. 👍👏👏
@@AA-tq7dm I never said he hasn't achieved much. All I said his world record deadlift wasn't anything to be impressed about. He has won a bunch but I wouldn't even put him the the top 5 of strongmen.
@@nicholasbourcier I personally think that's ridiculous. There's an argument objectively to say if you look at the all round numbers he's the strongest to ever live. I think Z is the best, Shaw in his prime was also an incredible all rounder but Thor has done incredible things in an era with the highest standard of strongman ever. I wouldn't look down on it and 501kg is massive mate tbf. Both Eddie and Thor have earned the right to be incredibly proud of that and imo for Thor to pull it only a couple of months after winning the Arnold's is massive, that's just a fact. I mean I'm not even gonna carry this on cos I don't like talking to people who look down on greatness.
No chance Zydrunas v Pudjionovski
Thor is great and all but zydrunas is a different animal
Z is best. Dont forget Brians height and huge weight advantage. Even marius was much stronger and 100 lbs lighter
Hi
He’d send a glass eye to sleep he’s so boring. Not a very nice guy from what I’ve heard either. Not a fan of Shaw the man - one of the greatest competitors of all time, obviously.
