When I started my company I decided that my driving principle would not be customers first it would be employees first. I realized that if I prioritized my employees over my customers it would have a much more direct impact on the success of my company. Elevation by proxy is what I set out to achieve. So far so good!

I'm a factory worker who just works on the manufacturing lines like most people at work but I take my job seriously even if it is just a job that they can replace me the next day if I got fired or I just quit... I'm just your typical average low class working citizen but I'm still grateful to have a job in the first place and to be around new people who I want to know that they can rely on me 95% of the time.
I work over 260 days and rarely miss a day....
Even with my good attendance I'm still expendable to the company...
The only thing I can do in return is just give compliments to my boss, my supervisor, my factory general manager and lastly are the company owners.
Little things like a compliment of gratitude goes a long way.

Herr Dr. Zein. Ganz herzlichen Dank. Dr. Bittner

I always gave 100% to all my jobs in communications for tv, high school teaching and business jobs, but had some bosses with horrible behavior. Then I got to be a boss for a day running the LSAT and I realized the three ingredients to being an amazing boss and why I was so successful that day: 1) stay humble, 2) let everyone below you shine and 3) rely on God all day to help you stay wise, knowledgeable and put everyone else first. 🤗 I was only hired for that day, but some day I know I will be able to be a boss and do these 3 things daily.

Great presentation on leadership. I particularly enjoyed your discussion of the transition from individual contributor to manager. A lot of people miss the point n never really get. Simon Sinek talks of the manager taking care of people in their charge rather than being in charge. Thoroughly inspiring

Great, very interesting lesson!!! I am pleased to see that there has been a sea change in the preparation of leaders and their teams. Initially only the leader was rewarded for achieving the budget, while the team had to be content with compliments. The order was that victories belonged to the leader and not to the team. In the team there was no distinction between those who had given their all and those who remained on the bench. All the teams were infested with people who were recommended and therefore did what they wanted. The annual budgets (in my case the sale of banking products) were really difficult so there was also the frustration of not being able to do it. Finally, petty leaders were almost always responsible for managing a group of people with the usual favoritism. Greetings, Francesca.

Five years later, Dr. Zein's topic and main points are more applicable today than ever. Thought leadership has risen as a prominent topic and the acceptance of failure is so important for future creativity and innovation. Concepts articulated and comparisons to sports are also very relevant: High Performance Culture, Individual performers that are visible to all, true training & learning should be continuous, true leaders and celebrations!

This is great stuff...sadly the only advice I was given when I was appointed ( or rather shoved into a manager's role since they fired my line manager) as a manager as " Learn how to juggle" - everyone knows that recipe of constant failure.

By the manager himself working harder than others. You can't demand respect or attention unless you command it.
If you as manager might not even be a good Programmer, but take that extra effort of trying to step in your team's shoes, by atleast starting to learn to code you yourself will realise ways to motivate your team because now you are in their shoes.

There is no competition except with yourself. I think rather than think of sports being driven by winning, think of sports driven by the love of the sport, doing our personal best and uplifting others to do their personal best beside us. The natural result is winning. It's not the goal.
Yah, old school, industrialization command and control thinking. Nope, not my type of leadership.
