As an opera singer you should definitely react to Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" from Dark Side of the Moon. And then you should learn the history behind the female singer doing that gig. It's epic stuff. Edit: But do the original studio version. Here she does it single-handedly, while it usually takes three singers to sing the same part in the concerts.

His voice is angelic. Not the most technical but most certainly one of the most beautiful. His voice countered Waters' voice, with whom, brought the insanity to the beauty. The darkness and the light. They were and will always be, one of a kind.
I’m loving your reaction to Floyd. When you say it’s so different and unlike anything else, you are spot on. It’s real music by real musicians played live with no auto tune. Their concerts were a spectacle to behold, some had massive inflatable animals floating around, planes flying around and all sorts. Their music is very much based around a concept and are meant to be consumed as an album, just like a novel is made from many chapters. Hope you watch some more, you have a great channel, thank you.
The two vocal styles are two different voices: first is the "doctor" who's job it is to get the hero, Pink, ready for the show. The second voice is that of Pink who is trying to explain that his outward persona is not his real self.
The venue held 20,000 and they sold out all 14 nights in a matter of days. I was there the night this was filmed. I also seen the show 6 weeks earlier in Rotterdam and they will live with me till my dying day.
I saw the “Wall” concert at the LA Forum when I was in high school when the album was released (this song was on that album). This was Pink Floyd’s version of a Rock Opera. The orb (disco ball) had several different meanings and representations, you can look up the facts around that part of the show, but it wasn’t part of the Wall concert. This song, was one of those songs that took off on its own and morphed into a “parallel universe” that takes us on this journey that only a Pink Floyd song can do. Until I learned the alternate tuning on Mr. Gilmore’s guitar of the two solos, I pulled my hair out trying to learn it. Then after I learned the tuning secret, it still took me at least three years to even come close. It never dawned on me why Mr. Gilmore never struck a note on the guitar during the song until the solos. There are no chord shapes that can be transposed with that alternate tuning. Loved your reaction to this song… I’ve been told it has an even better groove after a hit of a purple micro dot. I don’t know 🤷♂️ for sure but I have this friend….

I was at this concert. It was the most amazing concert experience I had ever witnessed. I've been to a couple hundred concerts in the years since, and nothing has even come close.
Originally, during concerts for The Wall, the band would play the first half of the album while building a physical wall on the stage. The band would then play the 2nd half behind the wall. Towards the end there is a song called “The Trial” where the sentence is “Tear Down the Wall!” Back in the 1980’s George Waters (he had left Pink Floyd) said he would never perform The Wall again until the Berlin Wall came down. After the Berlin Wall fell, Waters organized a star studded performance of The Wall in Berlin at the site of the Berlin Wall. He used it as a fundraiser for the British equivalent to the US’s Wounded Warriors. It was breathtaking hearing tens of thousands of people chanting “Tear Down the Wall” where only months before had stood the infamous wall. That was my introduction to The Wall (I was in college at the time) and, while not a huge Pink Floyd fan, I would recommend the movie “Pink Floyd’s The Wall” to show some of the meaning behind the album as a whole.
Pink Floyd ALWAYS takes you on a journey. Not many bands can do that (Tool can also). But nobody else can touch your soul through his guitar like this man! By the way, this is widely considered to be the greatest live rock guitar solo of all time.
I saw them on this tour. It was stunning. That disco ball was really cool. Pink Floyd often conveyed a light, airy feel as though you're floating up in the clouds, which is what we get in this song. It amazes me, watching all these reaction channels... hard to believe there are so many people who've never heard all these great bands/songs that I've loved for so many decades, some my entire life. How is all this classic music also so obscure? I always think everyone knows all this music.
99% of people who's posted individual Pink Floyd videos in this country don't get copyright strikes. Shouldn't worry about it. The whole reaction seemed a little busy. And the solo interruption... Well, 😕.
This is a part of what is called a rock opera. the entire album becomes a story. there is a movie of the same title using all the music. as read in the background of the band. Roger walters and the band had a parting of ways. he said the only way he would play with them again was if the berlin wall had come down. when it did they had a concert of the wall. my sister won 2 tickets and took my other sis. tons of stories... just awesome. fun fact the scorpions had played at that concert and it was while they were at the event that they were inspired for the song 'Winds of Change' that would be a cool reaction view to see... i love what you do... You are awesome! B-e-a-u-tifual!
I'm an old ex roadie who did 3 Floyd tours around this time, I've got too much to say about this and I love your reaction. It was the ultimate in integrated art, sound, light and performance personified, unrivalled and top of the trade. I loved it!
I am a complete Pink Floyd junky and always have been. I love that you are covering them. May comment more after watching you reaction. This is one of my favorites.
My favourite musicians are Bach, Beethoven and PF. They take me to emotional places that no one else quite matches, although I love thousands from Hildegard of Bingen onwards.
Was introduced to Pink Floyd in 1978, grade 10 English. Dark Side Of The Moon. Fell in love instantly. The only band I wanted to see live, and did. 1995, Division Bell Tour. Put on the headphones, spark up something, and let the music take you on a journey.
Comfortable Numb is the first listen to of Pink Floyd, the second is probably Time from the same album. Time Pulse Remastered 2019 is probably the best live version from the same concert as the one you watched.
A friend of mine said he did psychadelics during all the Pink Floyd concerts he went to and he said that the experience was beyond human comprehension. After seeing this, i can understand why. Sitting in my living room without any psychadelics whatsoever i can almost feel the hallucinations streaming out from the tv screen... Absolutely amazing stage show and that solo is unfathomably complex yet simple somehow.
The equipment for this show even in 1994 cost Pink Floyd close to $2,000,000.00 for the lights alone!! David Gilmour the guitarist and singer along with Rick Wright the keyboardist told Marc Brickman the lighting engineer "here", handing him a blank check, "see what you can do" !! You should definitely watch another song from this concert and since you like singing and beautiful music try from the same concert "High Hopes" very nice to listen to or "On the Turning Away" live from they're 1989 "Momentary Lapse of Reason" tour )!! I usually don't enjoy long commentaries but yours were actually very incisive, intelligent and enjoyable to listen to, keep up the good work!!! And one last comment any song from the 94 Pulse concert is visually and musically stunning!!
I went to a Pink Floyd concert in the 70s in a soccer stadium in Canada. greatest concert ever. all their concerts are light show crazy and amazing acoustics. greatest band ever.
Saw them in concert in Germany in 88. Best concert I had and probably ever will see. P.S. never interrupt a Gilmore solo. They are lyrics on their own. Great reaction
When God created Leo Fender to build the guitar he suddenly remembered "I have to create David Gilmour to play it". You should react to "On the Turning Away (Remastered)" from Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour, and "High Hopes" (Remastered) from Pulse..... Both stunning songs with guitar solos that will make your tear ducts drop onto the floor and roll into the gutter
Given your background with opera singing, I would like to see your take on The Great Gig in the Sky. Many PF fans would recommend the album version of the song but I prefer the Pulse version as you can see the back up vocalists' emotional energy as they "sing."
The thing about Pink Floyd is that all of there music on their albums is that the music never stops it's just transition into the next song The Wall, Dark side of the moon, wish you were here and more albums they're one of the best bands ever
I was there for that concert ........30 thousand capacity ..........what a night and I ended up crying as did most of the audience........magical night .....x
I was at that concert. The old Earl's Court venue, sadly since demolished. About 8 rows back from the stage. You really don't want to know all the filthy skulduggery and dirty deeds that were required to get my paws on such premium tickets. Worth it.
Mid-1980s - 4:00 am - four hours of sleep in last three days - working in the Anniston, Alabama Post Office - this song roars through the building... .
I was in attendance when Pink Floyd came to the Montreal Olympic Stadium in 97for two nights, and was there BOTH nights! AMAZING concerts and yes, the Vibe is just Awesome!
Put on your headphones. Lay down. Turn out the lights. Close your eyes. Listen to Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish. It's an amazing experience.
I saw them live on this tour. The lights, stage and sound were the result of the band telling the production and design teams that money is no object and meaning it. You might really enjoy The Great Gig In The Sky. The album version is amazing and they did a live version on this tour that I think is just as good.
The Concert was in London, England at Earls Court. It came out in the 90 and was remastered in 2019 the show is called Pulse. The whole concert is simply amazing show
To answer your audience question, there were over 14,000 people in this arena. I saw them the same year in Houston Texas at Rice Stadium, that got rained out. The sound was awesome. I can't imagine being in a enclosed arena like this. Davids solo for this masterpiece is a little different for each performance, but this one is the best of all of them IMO.
I've seen the 'petals' of that disco ball...they're about 3m long. They are in the Pink Floyd exhibition which is now in LA. Californian Floyd fans....go and see it, great exhibition!.

In Lisbon where I saw them, it was around 60.000 people.
60k singing this from the top of their lungs.
It was just otherworldly.
Originally, during concerts for The Wall, the band would play the first half of the album while building a physical wall on the stage. The band would then play the 2nd half behind the wall. Towards the end there is a song called “The Trial” where the sentence is “Tear Down the Wall!”
Back in the 1980’s George Waters (he had left Pink Floyd) said he would never perform The Wall again until the Berlin Wall came down.
Are you referring to Roger Waters?
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you TONIGHT at my LIVE stream?
I got high so many times whilst playing this LP back when it was first released best tripping music ever
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you today for my LIVE stream reaction to Scorpions in 2 hours?
I'm an old ex roadie who did 3 Floyd tours around this time, I've got too much to say about this and I love your reaction. It was the ultimate in integrated art, sound, light and performance personified, unrivalled and top of the trade. I loved it!
I am a complete Pink Floyd junky and always have been. I love that you are covering them. May comment more after watching you reaction. This is one of my favorites.
Thank you for your lovely comment. See you tonight!😊
I got to see them on the same tour. It was one of the most beautiful moments when they played this. Floyd and Puppies. :)
I was at this show at the meadowland in New Jersey. It was mind blowing and the best concert I’ve ever been to
I generally prefer to listen to the whole album for the story and effect. Pink Floyd will take you so many places!
Yes. Floyd, best heard at a live concert but second best is with head 'phones and eyes closed.
Psychedelics and Pink Floyd take you to another dimension
They are holographs in the disco ball. Those big booms above their heads were cameras that projected them into the disco ball. Sweet!
The greatest guitar solo of all time,,,
You most definitely should delve into more Pink Floyd. Their music is beyond compare.
Thanks for your comment. 😊 Did you like the new reaction video I just posted to Powerwolf?
@@maggiereneemusic just about to check it out
😚💖
When God created Leo Fender to build the guitar he suddenly remembered "I have to create David Gilmour to play it". You should react to "On the Turning Away (Remastered)" from Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour, and "High Hopes" (Remastered) from Pulse..... Both stunning songs with guitar solos that will make your tear ducts drop onto the floor and roll into the gutter
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you at the Premiere of my new reaction video to NIGHTWISH tomorrow?
Given your background with opera singing, I would like to see your take on The Great Gig in the Sky. Many PF fans would recommend the album version of the song but I prefer the Pulse version as you can see the back up vocalists' emotional energy as they "sing."
The thing about Pink Floyd is that all of there music on their albums is that the music never stops it's just transition into the next song The Wall, Dark side of the moon, wish you were here and more albums they're one of the best bands ever
Saw Pink Floyd twice. I cannot describe it
Saw them for delicate sound of thunder the movie for this album is awesome this is one of my favorite pink floyd songs right behind one of these days
best band of all times 😎👍 Pulse = best live concert of all time ✨🎸🥁🎤🎶
Glad you enjoyed! 🤘🥁🤘
Pink Floyd is a group you sit down with a good glass of wine, supreme head phones are listen to all.
Worth it.
This song and space oddity give me the same feeling. Like you are floating alone in space.
I'd suggest you use the PULSE version of their songs for any review. That was the most amazing concert I ever saw.
ONE DOESEN'T MERELY LISTEN TO PINK FLOYD, ONE EXPERIENCES THEM!
You should watch the entire concert it's as Epic as anything could ever be.
Mid-1980s - 4:00 am - four hours of sleep in last three days - working in the Anniston, Alabama Post Office - this song roars through the building... .
There is nothing like being at a Pink Floyd concert....you don't want it to end
One of the greatest bands in history of music, up there with led zep and other great bands of the past.
You weren’t walking on the moon. You were comfortably numb!
Kate Bush was mentored as a young professional recording artist by David Gilmore, he of the stunning, singing guitar solos.
The name is based on two Blues Artists First Names Syd's favorite Artists Pink Anderson and Floyd Council! Their original music gender was British Blues from 1965 to 1966.
I see Pink Floyd and I click! Great video and reaction! David is an amazing guitarist, everything he does is memorable.
