Cicadas live underground for presumably 3-7 years and whilst under there they feed on tree root sap I believe. They’re no bother to your homestead. How nice you’ll be listening to corellas instead of traffic and barking dogs soon!! Love your enthusiasm and your excitement is infectious 😊
Good on you for bouncing ideas off tradies and council staff throughout this process! I worked a few years at a couple of different councils and some people would do a lot of research and planning on their own and would have things knocked back because they didnt understand all the requirements. Its so much easier and more practical to get advice from the ppl working in that field along the way
It's getting very exciting now. Thanks for the update. It's so nice to have a vision of what it could be like. As everything grows it will do it's own thing. I am looking forward to what the permaculture person says!
Love that you put a future alfresco area in the plan, it's gonna be a great spot to unwind and catch a breeze at the end of the day... especially a day like today ☀🥵 The drone shots were great too. Yay, Exciting!! 🥳
Exciting times guys🎉 I wonder if cockatoos /corellas been digging. Up cicada lava....I've witnessed that & they make a mighty mess of the ground & look like Aussie larrikins with muddy faces😂
how come you guys didnt opt to be further out of town on a larger plot of land? would have though it would have been better in the long run to be further out with cheaper land
@@Homestead_OnTheRock_ It’s the best outcome for the overall homestead, also your growing children will appreciate the space allocated just for them.. Kids also need to run 👍
Not sure who or how you are building with but as a fellow aussie down the road from you , I just want you to watch this episode on youtube titled :Builder’s Biggest Mistake: 28 Charged in Bribery Scandal. by Site Inspections (just in case you decide to need help subcontract on your build). Also Taylex septic systems are brilliant you can literally drink the water out of it! PS: I would NOT place the tank so close to the house and your outdoor area the odour on you pump days will linger and linger and linger. The chook pen area would be a far better placement for it. I've studied international and enviro planning at UNI, my dad was a building engineer ! cheers
Nice design, when we did our septic system we used trafficable leach drains just incase you ever need to drive over that area or things change in the future
Some would call it a tiny home haha but no not really. Its a regular house, concrete footings, bricks, timber, weatherboard and tin roof. Pretty standard but it is only 88sqm which is quite "tiny"
@ thankyou you can never tell sometimes lol, I ’m excited to see this come together for your beautiful family, I would love to get to a home built one day so this is very interesting
Another ripper vid 👌🏻 we were supposed to have our septic system installed before Christmas just gone, but like I mentioned with the complications with our driveway we still don’t have a new install date 🫠 🥲

Won’t be long now you will be turning some soil 😀
What are your thoughts on the septic leach field design??

Which council area are you in. We had to wait months for building permit. It differs from council to council.
Are you building a tiny home

Seems like things taking a long time is "all part of the process" unfortunately haha
@ and costing way more than you thought 😅
