    Glad to see you got one. Not a bad price, especially since it already had the fast hitch on it. I always make sure I set my lift lever stops so I don't put the driveshaft in a bind on mine.

    Looks good where you went Joe!. I have an old Flyin' Scot that's probably as old as I am. The main thing you want to remember is start stopping before you get there as the bush hog wants to keep pushing you. You were exactly right about not raising the back lift all the way up as the drive shaft will hit the cross bar on your fast hitch. I usually set the touch control stop so I can only raise it 2/3s or so. When you get that hitch fixed right, you'll have a great bush hog.

    • @Jtwes
      @Jtwes  3 роки тому

      I didn’t show it but I had clips on my touch control to keep me from raising it to far.

      You can get an over run clutch, to stop that. My Yanmar would do the same thing if I didn't run one.

      @@natevanlandingham1945 Thank you sir! Now that you mention it, I think my great uncle had one on his 140.

    Can't beat the price. You did good with what things cost now days. Cuts good too. You still making the ole 140 earn her keep. You may want to add an override clutch to it so if you have to stop quickly the bush hog dosen't keep pushing your tractor. Keep the videos coming.

      I was looking for that to happen but I didn’t notice it doing that today. Probably still will get one for it.

      Forgot to mention but you probably already know, keep the deck clean and it will last a lifetime. I have an old bush hog and it is still solid. Used it yesterday. I blow it off with my leaf blower. I see people that leave trash on theirs after they use it, after it rains it stays wet and rusts out.

    No one is gonna complain about how you use that brush cutter. Looked like you had used one your whole life. Great job and video Joey! I will say, I have seen a bunch of Howse one point brush hogs, and this is the first one I have seen where it had the issue with the stabilizer. Strange, but your thought on fixing it will solve the problem. Thank you again for sharing!

      @@Jtwes yes, that's the standard size shaft, I think they go by the number of splines on the shaft if I remember correctly. But you should recognize it, it's the same on both sides, male and female side.

    Sweet! Hey are you trying to be like me? Lol. Remember I bought the 6' one (Bush-hog brand) awhile back from one of my neighbors and my other neighbor did some bracing and welding repairs on it. Wound up having $400 in it when all was said and done and was very happy. For my 274. Like I always say, when you find something you're looking for and you've got the money you better buy it! That is if it's ok with your wife....he-he! Looks nice. Gear-box and sharp blades ( but you already know that I'm sure.) Take care, Bobby.

    I’ve bush hogged many acres with a SA. I’ve also worn 2 Howes BH out, but I was clearing woods and generally misusing them but I’ve got my 3rd now and being much more gentle with it. Used each one about 15 yrs apiece.

    Looks like it does a good job. Now I have to get one for my trails and small spots. The batwing is good for big places. I forgot to tell you we had a 100 and had the 3 point hitch kit on it and I bush hogged a lot with it when I was young and if it would ride it over she would grind it up with a 5 foot bush hog. Good video Joey.

    I have a 1974 Farmall 140 and a 5 foot Woods Dixie Cutter mower behind it. What is the best way to UNHOOK the mower from the tractor and remove that part after pulling up on the fast hitch?

    • @Jtwes
      @Jtwes  7 місяців тому +1

      You just have to make sure the mower is not bearing up or down on the fast hitch prong and pop the clutch a little bit.
