    You commented the driver can hook up "at any angle". My understanding is, and correct me if I am wrong, that with a puck system that prevents actually hooking up unless it is backing directly into the pin. In other words, if the driver disconnects at an angle and later wants to hook up again, it must be done driving straight back.

      I’m guessing that you would turn the hitch on the camper to back into it.

    Now all Reese needs to do is make a sidewinder goose box for me to test out for you guys!

    This trailer in the video doesn't even need a sidewinder, it's got lots of clearance. Don't use a sidewinder unless you absolutely have to. I can watch mine flex up and down in my rear view mirror as we hit bumps on the highway. The backing up on this video is beside the point, how are you going to back anything with the truck perpendicular to the trailer?

    Since the pivot point has been moved behind the axle wouldn’t the 5th wheel have more sway like a bumper pull trailer?

      We have not experienced any additional sway when using the sidewinder

      The pre-owned camper I bought has a sidewinder on it. It is great. I have not noticed anything yet but I will update when I take a longer trip.

    Can you tell me the air pressure range and recommendations for the airbag please. Also, which do you adjust first the two bolts or the airbag when trying to get the bottom of the pin box level with the hitch plate?

      The air pressure that you put in the air shock will be determined by the weight of your camper. The nice part about an air shock is that it is adjustable. If you don't think you have enough support or maybe there's too much, you can add or subtract air pressure to get the ride that you want. You will need to move the shock forward or back before putting the air in.

    How often do you need to replace the airspring/airbag?

    • @etrailer
      @etrailer  2 роки тому

      We have not heard of one of these air bags needing to be replaced. They are made out of a very think and durable rubber that is designed to last for many years.

    I've got a Reese 20k Pro Slider. Says not recommended for sliders correct? Any reason why?

    • @etrailer
      @etrailer  5 років тому +1

      Reese Sidewinders use the rotating turret to move the pivot point of the trailer so the sliding mechanism will not be needed. You will need a wedge to prevent pivoting of the head of the fifth wheel hitch while using a sidewinder part # 30850 for your reese 20k made after 2009. Technically you can use the slider hitch with the sidewinder as long as you keep the 5th wheel hitch locked in the forward most position at all times but it is not recommended for safety reasons. You can still use the head of the 5th wheel but I do recommend switching out your slider for fixed legs. If you let me know your year make and model I can give you part numbers.

    Is this demo on a shortbed?

    • @etrailer
      @etrailer  4 роки тому

      Yes this was done on a regular 6.5 ft bed. This king pin was designed to help to eliminate contact of the nose of the camper and the cab of the truck on trucks with out long beds.

    Would or can you use one of these on a long bed? Any value to doing this? Thanks

      You get full clearance with any fifth wheel and an 8 foot bed, so it would be pointless.

      If i were planning to tow a 5th wheel i wouldnt buy a short bed truck

    Does it come as a whole unit? Or is the pin box and what bolts to the camper seperate?

    • @etrailer
      @etrailer  6 років тому

      It comes with the king pin and the sidewinder and all the installation hardware.
