Hello, You show your truck parked in the 90 degree position and say there’s enough clearance. However, I would have liked to see video footage of the turn from straight to 90 degree. How much clearance is there, (minimum from fifth wheel to truck cab. Does your truck have a 5.5 or 6.5 foot bed? Thank you.
I hated my sidewinder on the exact same trailer. On curvy roads I felt a shift in the rear end everytime it crossed center, no matter how much I cranked down the wedge. So I got rid of it and got a long bed truck.
I run the goosebox now and it is my favorite. The sidewinder is great for 90 degree turns and maneuvering. The trailer does tend to have a little more bumper pull tendencies with this hitch. You will notice wind and sway. It has pros and cons. The goosebox is what I will use from now on. I have had it two years and it tows amazing with zero chucking and no heavy hitch to deal with..
I have one and yes you can turn sharp now but the kingpin has a little movement that makes the RV not track as well going down the highway. A little movement at the kingpin even 1/4 inch is amplified at the hinge point that will move a couple of inches and gives a strange/uneasy feeling.
It’s been great so far… i made the purchase because it was a 23 and was thinking it would be a temporary ride. After pulling and driving it.. I’m going to keep it.. The technology works well. The Allison and duramax stays in the power band at all times.. I am very impressed with powertrain.
I have a Reese Airborne Sidewinder on my 5th Wheel. I love it but I've never seen any other 5th Wheel in any campground or resort with one other than mine. It must not be very popular.
@@RockyRohde I would go that route too but I can't justify spending a couple grand on a goosebox while I have a 2 grand Airborne Sidewinder. If I ever buy a new RV, I'll consider it.
It had ram boxes… They make it difficult for fifth wheel applications. Plus my camper is 13’5” stock… So have to have almost stock truck to pull it and stay under 13’6”
Why didn’t you get another Ram? It’s weird, I drove a Chevy high country 3500 on Saturday and liked how it drove over my Ram Cummins. My Ram has been in and out of the service bay, going on week 3 of not having it. Very disappointed with my last three Rams.
You say your 5er is a toyhauler? 102” wide? What kind of turn angle do you get with your Goosebox and your shortbed? How long a bed? I have a Ram mega cab 3500 dually 6’4” bed and would like to convert to goosebox, but worry about turns with my toyhauler.

I try to run 7-8” clearance and still have to watch it on uneven turns…

You're showing it parked in a 90 degree position but can you drive away without hitting the cab? That's the real issue.

Try that with an old camper, or horse trailer no notch cut out front edge.
Have you had any issues hooking up or unhooking on not perfectly flat ground?

How does it feel on the road? When you turn does it push the truck to the side?
No it pulls the same as it did with standard pinbox

Did you retorque the castle nut?
@@RockyRohde no where the fifth wheel head pins to the base thats mounted in the truck.
Do you still have the White Ram 3500 limited?
Traded it in on 23 GMC… Needed to pull fifth wheel.
