I bought this exact model for my DRV last fall. We weren’t able to go to Florida last winter (sat in storage) but had our maiden voyage this last week traveling over 2,000 miles! My exact tongue weight is 4100 pounds and my little gauge sticker is showing I’m not in the green anymore. There is no vertical cushioning now and sadly it rides rough. Will I return it? No. Just having my bed space back is something I don’t want to give up but I’m disappointed in this video for misleading me. 😢 I’m nowhere near the 5500 pounds that this video claims for this specific hitch. I still would recommend this hitch and e-trailer is a very trustworthy business with good people!
The # GY66FR Gen-Y pin box can handle pin weights between 3500 and 5500 lbs, and should be working well for you. Is the 4100 lb figure the actual pin weight or is it an estimate? I'm in the process of checking with Gen-Y, I'll let you know what they reply.
@@etrailer Thank you for replying. Again another example of a caring staff! Yes, I have Cat scale weights showing drive axle, without trailer, at 4100 pounds. Loaded with trailer at 8200 pounds. I can send photos via email as well as a photo of the sticker gauge.
Thank you for this video. I've seen in the past that there were concerns about additional stress on the frame of the 5th wheel because the gooseneck hitches lower. Is that still a concern? Why did you choose to change out the MORRyde?

@@etrailer Says on your website that fits a 6 1/2 foot bed did this get released after your video was made? I'm looking at a lighter weight 5th wheel about 30 feet long for my Ram 2500 short bed. I don't want a slider kingpin box in a bed already small.

For a short-bed Gen-Y has a gooseneck ball extender.
