- Datacrons are hidden objects in Star Wars: The Old Republic that you can find to earn a permanent boost for your characters. Datacrons are hidden across almost every planet, are availble to free-to-play, preferred and subscribed players, and are some of my favorite secrets to hunt down in the entire game. In this video, I’ll be going over the basics of finding Datacrons.

Obtaining the Matrix shards are essential for the special datacron decorations that are unlocked with the achievement. Just something to keep in mind
I wish the game added some new rewards for the existing events, like new character customizations (we still don't have rakghoul for all comps), so that old players could find something to go back to stuff they've already "finished".

Questions: (edited question 4)
1. I know that the matrix shard datacrons are not legacy-locked and that each character you make needs to hunt them down. Which worlds are not available to Republic characters, and which ones are not available to Imperial? I think Tython is off limits for Imperial and Korriban is off limits for Republic, but any more matrix shard datacrons that are unavailable?
2. Are matrix shard datacrons still relevant? Are they worth getting?
3. For the Dark vs Light Event datacrons, are they legacy-locked? Do each character I have need to get them separately?
4. I know that the Dark vs. Light Event datacrons do not do anything, but there is a achievement for it if you get them all correct?
Hey swtorista, why are there 3 datacrons are the starting planets but only have 2 slots in the legacy. Example hutta. 1 near the top of the map one near the bottom, and one in the underground heroic area but in the legacy only shows 2 available for the planet
The datacrons with the matrix shards aren't counted in the legacy list, but they count towards the datacrons Master achievement/title
Sorry to bother, I know its not related by I cant find any information anywhere and you are the holder of wisdom, do you know how the B-44 Marshal speeder is acquired?
Why do I get 4 items in hypercrates but not 5 items? Two of my friends are still getting 5 items from hypercrates. Does anyone with the force know the answer?
I hate the jump puzzles the game forces you to do. I've never properly rage quit a game until I started hunting for these damn Datacrons.
did the DvL datacrons offer anything during the event? I was so focused on leveling 8 different "new" characters to get the achievements that i didn't even look for them :(
I think they were just a checkmark in the list for one of the tiers.
@@Swtorista oh okay then I had to have gotten them because I got 100% on that event. They just aren't showing up in my datacrons
I remember that you can place the Datacrons in your stronghold, because I have two of them in my Coruscant stronghold. How can I unlock them? I dont remember it, because I did it a long time ago
These are items rather than actual datacrons. You find them from random enemies in the world

They are not out yet.
I would say that sorcs / sages are a bit better than snipers / slingers because of the force speed which gives additional boost for a jump when you can’t or don’t want to mount

Also they get that tp that you can set up for if you fall!

@@Swtorista Another reason to go Sorceror would be Force Yoink, if you want to do it in pairs with someone, you might be able to yank them to where they need to be if they're struggling.
I really hope Bioware can make finding and collecting Datacrons a Solo experience (like they did with Story Mode Flashpoints). I find it really annoying when you find a Datacron and then the games is like: Oh, you require a second person to open the Door like....
There are ways you can cheese the game. Like one of the datacrons on Balmorra and Quesh that require two people to press a button to open a door, if you time it just right using a speed boost, you can do it yourself. Its difficult, but it can be done. Same with the fleet datacrons. There are videos on UA-cam that show how its done.
Jump puzzles are the reason I will never play destiny
I MUST HAVE THEM ALL! Working on my collection now. I'm about 1/4 of the way there. Some of these are TOUGH to reach. Even with a tutorial video I sometimes feel my mind slipping into insanity as I try lol.
Good on the devs though I like a challenge.
I send my companions out to do stuff For me while my character is as useless as the jedi council in the prequel movies. My Guild does Flash points and Ops and I sit on cushions in the ship

@@Swtorista I actually started doing it on a character after an absence and it brought back so many bad memories, I was like, god damn, I did this before, but it had disappeared off my character and was making me redo the steps. I sent in a ticket and they advanced me through the quest. I wonder if they could track it or just since I had never asked for anything before, gave it to me lol
I don't like most of the jumping and I don't do the more than 1 person needed. The starter world datacrons are considered easy for me and the Sith homeworld as well. I check them and if possible I will get them. But I don't try hard.
It is a nice boost for every starting char especially when nothing else is done on that server.
Agree, the jumping puzzle in this game makes me pulling my hair off.

really wish that getting Datacrons gave some decent items like all of them a really amazing something. and like every 10 Datacrons idk an adequately leved item.
I would like to play as a Twilek or something else,not just those 3 choices as a F2P.
The Kid Lee channel has an excellent datacron guide for each planet. It is what I used last year as a guide to complete my collection of datacrons and receive the "Datacron Master" title. To watch, just go to the "Kid Lee" channel and click on the "SWTOR: Datacron Guide" playlist.
Note #1: I recommend playing as a force user (ex: Jedi Sage) with "phase walk" ability.
Note #2: obtaining the Rishi datacron can take up to several hours to a few days of time depending on the low drop rate for an item or items needed to obtain a temporary buff. Though tedious (i.e. a lot of driving around and waiting a long time for creatures to respawn in addition to everything else that you have to do), the first time I attempted to obtain the Rishi datacron I did everything the legitimate way and got the buff etc. & the pheromone. Before I went to the rock (where the datacrons are located and where the monster destroys said rock), I also spoke out in general chat on Rishi and ended up inviting some players to join me & also show them where the pheromone was. I was just trying to do the right thing and save some people a lot of time / effort by helping them. Long story short, the rock was destroyed and the datacrons were revealed. However, in my excitement and with talking to the other group members and for other reasons, I forgot to click on one or two of the datacrons. Needless to say, I was distraught / distressed etc. as I was going to have to do the whole thing over again (several hours to a few days of work) or so I thought. Please note, I'm only saying the following because the method of obtaining the Rishi datacron wasn't designed well. Thankfully, I ended up finding a work around in a video. Basically, all you need is the pheromone (located in the trash heap). The pheromone protects you from the monster. You go to the rock near the monster. You stand on the rock. You click on the rock. Stand still. Wait up to 10 minutes or so for the rock to respawn. Then, you fall through the rock. Carefully, walk around (you can't see much) and click the datacrons one by one. If for some reason, you didn't fall through the rock then try it again. Standing still is important and perhaps where you are standing also.
Note #3: Some group datacrons can be soloed with the use of phase walk.
Note #4: If making jumps (where there is a chance you'll fall) always phase walk first by placing your save point. It will save you in case you fall.

so i haven't gone hunting for the missing ones since i came back but a few years ago when the game first came out i was looking up the ways to get some of them and i was sitting on the balloon in tatooine waiting the 30 minutes and im thinking how the heck did this one get found? some of them are so unrelated to the places you start the puzzle it boggles my mind and im price myself on been able to think outside the box but this isnt outside the box, the box got thrown away and is on its way to the skip thats how far out of the box you have to think for some of these.

That Balloon one lol, I did that one so many characters before they became a one time thing. I guess it was relaxing, unless you got to the launch point only to see it floating away from you, or missing the jump onto the crawler (I did that more than once).
I hate jumping puzzle O.o
I love seeking out data crons, treasure hunting fun. However, it does make maze-grinding on careful placement of jumps can be exhausting
i remember back in the "old" days of SWTOR there was a datacron that you couldnt get if you had the fat bodytype, as you couldn't fit through a gap(bug or feature?) . Fun was had a tat using my trooper and concussive bast to "bast" people up on to the jawa tank thingy. aww the good old days

Still unable to play and it looks like there's an upcoming update later what is now today. And support doesn't appear to know what the issue I have is, cause even they're suggesting that I either buy a secondary drive or uninstall and reinstall. I'm honestly surprised to hear that, though I guess if you want to call it a silver lining, I'm learning more about PC programming and parts in the process
I collected most of the alliance with a friend keep visitin your site because I am trying to find a craftable lightsaber style that is also customizeable I though I had found one butbut its a slightly ocd thing not trying to drumm up sympathy or anything but I may have the chance to go to galaxy's edge in disney florida and I was trying toa craftable customizeable style that i could hoepfully craftat Savi's worshop.
Collecting Datacrons would be a lot more fun if the jump-coding wasn't the worst I've ever seen.

Jumping to platforms in swtor is literally cancer it has that stupid delay when you jump
If anyone sees this is there anyone that knows a good group of people or chat site to help the rep fleet datacron? I try not to spam fleet chat but I’ve been trying for over a month to get it and no luck.
I hate the ones where you need multiple people to accomplish I don't have many friends on swtor

I accidentally found a datacron on Ord Mantell because I was trying to parkour my way around mobs I was to lazy to fight lol
is it even worth to collect them, since all planets have level/stat cap ? I mean do they actuality work, do they really improve you stats, beacase i never noticed increase to ma hp or damage value of my attacks after collecting datacrone.
Right. I decided I didn't want to get too in depth about that for level sync. It will basically depend on which stats you've already reached the cap for or not for each planet. It might also change in 7.0.
Give me something to collect and and I will collect them regardless of the benefits

i only have the starter planet ones and i got so annoyed trying to find them and some guides i found didnt make it any better after my buddy helped me find them i said screw it and stopped looking
What is the total boost of stats for both Republic and imperial side
i might consider to start looking for the datacrons. tho i don't really interact with other players to ask for help. more of a loner sadly lol
There's only really like 1 datacron in the entire game that you need multiple people for.

yep! they're fore everyone even at level 1
I have them all, some were very frustrating to get to, but some were really cool, and those special quests are even more fun.
I would say getting the matrix shards is not only for the codex or simply the journey, but they are needed to get the Master datacron title and that cool decoration for your stronghold with the datacrons.

Ive come back to playing. Originally started with the beta launch👍. Really enjoying my time in game, joined a lively guild which is awesome.
Easiest way to approach this is with 2 or 3 people. A group of 4 datacron hunting will make the task go by much faster as well as easier. some of them require 4 people to even get. It is worth it in the end, and one of the most fun activities I had with my friends playing this game. Sith Empire.

I honestly don't care about the stats that much, but I love collecting the lore codex entries connected to them. I'm a big lore and story player and love learning about the ancient times of the Star Wars galaxy. I wish those codex entries would be available on all characters after finding them on one for two reasons. Firstly, there are datacrons that can only be obtained of faction-exclusive planets and therefore the codex entries can't be seen on the other faction. Secondly, sometimes a player may stumble across different decatrons on different characters and have the entries spread across their account. I like being able to fill out the complete story in one codex and being able to easily read through it all in the game. If the stats are now legacy-bound, why not do it for the story?
