Nothing because this announcement is 10 years too late. They had opportunities to keep the game fresh and keep players playing but they did a decade of story rewrites and chinesium upgrade systems instead of ANYTHING the players asked for. It's time to face the facts, the game is dead and the only people left playing it do NOT care about anything like player housing because they do NOT have a connection to the game world anymore. Everything is collection logs, item levels, forever upgrades and never ending % increases in an attempt to get you to think that the game has challenge. Sorry not sorry, blizzard has been a walking corpse for 10 years, accept it. Stop giving them your money.
plus, in a few months they'll probably just throw bis house upgrades on the store and kill any sense of achievement or value or creativity that they might have managed to scrape together from some "2010's-good-will scraps" found on the office floor.
what I'd reaallly want out of player housing is to be able to call home the area or land I want in the world... and be the ONLY person to own that on a per server basis I know that'll prolly never happen and it will be some instanced housing or watnot, but it'd still be cool as all heck

If it's a prefabricated instance then it's already a failure. Players need to be able to have the freedom to place things like fireplaces, beds tables hell maybe even a small call to arms board for it to really be player housing.
It can be both though ? A base template instance (maybe multiple to choose from, race themed), with a house already built and furnished for people that don't like building or decorating. Then you can have a "construction mode" where you can place walls, decorations, trophies, etc and either modify the existing building or create an entirely new one from your own materials. Basically the same as ESO and Gw2 do and it works quite well. On the WoW reddit there even was a guy that recreated Naxx in the Gw2 housing system, so if they go that way its an easy win
It’s gonna be instanced 100% . But they can make the plots instanced . So you choose which plot to enter then there’s the neighborhood with other peoples houses
They will find a way, without doubt, to fuck this up too. I've played since vanilla, but I think I am about ready to call it quits now. I don't trust they'll make this a good thing. It'll be a way for them to make money from their shop, nothing else.
Id love eso style housing. The have plots in each zone. Free item placement. Though, less of the stupid item slot limit. Do not make it finite like ff14.
I would love for them to do forestry and woodworking to craft furniture. I've been wanting them to implement those and tie it with housing for years. Housing is going to be monetized like crazy.

Blizzard should really listen to people like you. I think house styles for the ten races we had in TBC would be a good start/first goal for blizzard. They would fit for most races and allied races. Races that would actually need their own style would be: Pandaren Vulpera(do they even use houses) And dracthy. Oh and the earthen maybe. Every other race could make do with color and slight variations in shape and of course furniture. Last point with looking at what players have accomplished would be just a visualization of the achievements menu. Would be boring af.
As a female player who has tried to get friends to play wow, this is all I've been asking for. Cozy games, farm sims, etc are so popular amongst the female population if they added this in it would change WoW so much and the crossover is going to be awesome. So stoked.
Yes fellow female player here and I agree! Cozy games are really popping off and there is so much opportunity to add similar features to wow to appeal to those gamers too.

Male player here. I enjoy cozy games. Palia, Stardew Valley are my favorites. I'm fine with pre-built structures, just let us customize the interior and exterior freely. Let me place things wherever I want. I'm hoping Blizz will let this be an expression, as well as an extension for ourselves in a creative sense.

It sounds really good on paper, but honestly, at least at the beginning, it’s going to be pretty basic. We’ll probably just be happy to have a few houses and some pre-designed furniture. I would like to see my garrison expanded to become my player housing. If they have neighborhoods, there needs to be professions workshops to provide work orders for household goods. Built in economy.
One of the many things I would recommend to Blizzard for housing is to take the appearances feature that was added in Legion and make one for player housing. This way players wouldn't have to worry about keeping items in their inventory (or a special furniture window like in ff14). It would also allow players to see what they have (and have not) collected and of course to see items that were added in a new patch. Another thing I would like them to do is make something similar to ensembles for furniture (for example something that allows you to unlock a collection of furniture appearances from Suramar, Azj-Kahet, Valdrakken, etc.).
Blizz releasing humans/orcs first then coming back later with future designs would surely piss me off as a tauren/dwarf main. Imagine you have to abandon your first house because you want the new design.. Or you have to delete your old house to make a new one..
What might be useful if they have a choice of 'options' you can select once they make new designs, and all you have to do is get the materials needed for each design in order to update it, instead of deleting a player based house. What they could also do is make the zone dictate what kind of building the house can be. Aka Barrens house? choice between Orc or Tauren house. STV? Troll house. Feralas? Tauren or NE. So on and so forth.
Vulpera basically live in caravans only because the Sethrak drove them from their homes in Vol'dun, so no one really knows what a Vulpera house would look like
it would be a HUGE miss to not incorporate professions into player housing customization - could also make professions useful for that regard of gameplay - you need certain mats? gotta buy/trade from other players :o
Garrisons weren't a bad idea, they just weren't taken far enough. I would love to build a town (garrison) that you could customize a lot more. A town where my Alts are walking around or they even have shops that match their profs. You could also tie in some of the discarded features of old expacs like a command table center, a place where all the command tables that you have opened up over the years are all in 1 place. Banners that you can hang around the wall of the city that show who you are exalted with. Cash shop stuff is a duh, it is going to happen, but don't link housing to player power and don't make it a 1 expac feature like garrisons.
Realistically, this cannot work out. Other games have years of expertise, trial and error and better engines behind them that had housing as part of their libraries from the start. At best, they can get "as good" as other games that already have housing for ages, there is no way they can outdo it. And outdoing is what most players will be _expecting_ - so this, realistically, cannot work out. Addendum, your wish for houses "in the world" is understandable but entirely impossible. You know what will happen? The whales or even a housing mafia (happened in FF14) will acquire the best spots and demand obscene prices from anyone who wants any of them. Look at other games, such stuff happened in any MMO that has housing. That is why games like LOTRO do instances. Evenin Wow, there was a kind of "mafia" going on about certain rare resources, certain rare flowers and other ingredients. They likely ponder how to monopolize housing as I write this already.
Based on what they shown and given how they handled things, it will be something like the garrisons: - There are garrison-like lots available in a very few places in the world. I can see a possibility where only a specific zone introduced in Midnight got player housing possibility - reason is that they designed that zone with player housing in mind. In previous zones a technical hogwash prevents housing, as it would cause hell a lot of problems. - You can choose from a couple building layouts. Some of them are quite basic, some of them look really nice, these cost millions of gold. Some of them look even nicer, these are premium and can be bought in the store for $$$. - There are a couple placeholders on the wall and on the ground. You can put there whatever, like stuff from professions or earned from achievements. "Basic" homes got less placeholders than expensive homes. Premium homes bought for money got a crapton of placeholders, so you can really show off. That's it. They promise that they will introduce more zones for player housing in the future. Each upcoming expansion features one such zone. Occasionally, like once every expansion they add housing to an already existing zone.
I kinda like the way GW2 did the Homesteading thing where it's an additional profession rather than having something like blacksmithing making the furniture itself
They should take a page from the game: ONCE HUMAN's Book. Once human is kinda like an MMO and when it comes to player housing they can build their house ANYWHERE and i mean freaking ANYWHERE in the game even next to a capital city or town for example as long as they have the room meaning space to plot their environment. I think if they give us pre assigned spots and not spots we can pick it can go south real quickly. honestly just give us a quest and give us an item that allows us to plant our house anywhere in Azeroth
Knowing Blizzard, you'll probably have a dedicated housing area either in some secluded zone or instanced in elwynn/durotar, maybe one style of house per main race (allied races not included) with them adding one new style per addon and then inside your house you get these predetermined template slots you can put furniture of certain types in.
Racial specific homes... nah that's too much work and you know it, @Nixxiom. There'll only be faction specific architecture (let's be honest that means stormwind looking construction) and you're expected to love it.
I also wanted a system that FF14 went on to do. Instanced districts so you can have a customizable house and be in a living neighborhood of other players. I also always wanted a guild hall, a place where we can meet up and hang out with our guild mates between guild events and to show off the things we were able to achieve together.
Assuming they go with the plots of land idea, it would also be neat if each plot in any given zone were randomly populated by someone’s house. I think it would make the world feel more alive. Sort of like how Fallout76 player houses work where some are visible when you log in
Nixxiom, I think it would be really cool to see player neighborhoods like in star wars galaxies, I know the systems are not in place like in galaxies to do local neighborhood economy, but it would still be so cool to see communities form in different locations all across Azeroth.
I'd like a Housing App for my phone so I can edit my house when I'm not at my PC, on lunch breaks etc. Then when I get back to my computer and log in, boom, all the phone editing I did while I was supposed to be working, is on the server and in my house. I'd like that 🤘
This is going to be a garrison instance with the ability to stick stuff on the wall. Nothing more lol. Months away from wow has cleared my mind. A year ago i would have been fan boying out coming up with all of these theories that will never happen. Drifting mounts look cool though.
I'm a Free to Play MMO player, and a wait and see player. I'm gonna follow this and if it starts to look good, I will start paying for my play time. For a 40 year old gamer, customization in a game is in the Top 5 reasons to even play a game, much less pay a subscription for it.
good video, completely agree with how you laid out what a success would be vs what is going to happen. We wont get to pick what zone its in, and it will be monetized.
One thing they could do for the housing is have different styles of housing and decorations be linked to factions reps so say your a human and you want to build our home in a more iron forge style you would need to rise your rep with them to get various recipes and architect plans or maybe go for a more unusual theme and rise you rep with the Shen'dralar for old high born elf sort of look. Wow has a lot of lore and history to work with now it would be a shame to be so basic as to just stick to the main factions for theme's.
One of the things they need to do in order to not f*ck it up is to keep putting things in to the system in every patch and expansion. Too many times they implement a nice feature in an expansion only to abandon it the next.
I would love if the player housing is like the garrison. Sue me. I still like the garrison. It could have been done better. But it was good enough. But a garrison style base as your home. You have a big plot of land. Instanced. The camp starts out smal.. And can be upgraded like the garrison from small, medium to large. Maybe even much bigger. in the futrure expansion. They could even use the player housing to create GUILD HOUSING. But for regular players. A camp.. You start out with a small one.. Upgrade it bit by bit. You have a garden where yo can plant herbs.. Since so many of them look really good. Cosmetic. Not herbs that you can harvest. You could have 1 house as your main resting place.. But then you also have a bigger building as your achivement hall. Where you can see how you progression in diferent fields go. Then you have other buildings you can put in your base.. A stable. Where you can have some favorite mounts rest or walk around. A blacksmithing plot where you can repair stuff. But most of the things you have there are cosmetic. Not player power. Hell. They could even add a fun minigame to the player housing. Where you train new adventurerrs.. That start out at level 1. Think of it like training the next generation. And they progress slowly through the expansions. IN the old way. From level 1-60, vanila quests, dungeons and raids. Then 60-70 the tbc. so on and so on. And they will always be 1 expansion behind you. As you are their role model. They arent like in the garrison. Coming back with chests that give you loor. But a fun mini thing you can do. You can even have a Tavern in your camp. Where you can see them from time to time. But it all depends on what their plan is. A neighbourhood would be bad. Because it would bring out the most toxic people there is. Imagine if you are part of a neighborhood.. And they dont like you, because you arent their friend. Or part of their friend circle. They dont like how you home and area looks. Because they want everyone to have a certain look. but you dont care or dont want to. So they harras you. Because there are always toxic players in a game.. That will take things to far. So they force you to move to another place. Maybe even doing that for no reason. Other than them wanting a friend of THEIRS to be in that plot of land.. So they can only have their own friends there. Or guild members. So that idea would be horrifyingly bad. Instanced and personal would be best. It avoids the potential problem of people who focus heavily on the player housing from harrasing peoplew ho do other parts of the game. Another thing that they would have to add.. Finaly.. After 20 years.. An Actual Adventure journal. Not talking about the Adventure guide. But a journal. Showing lore information about all tthat you have done. All by expansion and zone. So that you can go back and read up on stuff what happened in each zone that you have been to and cleared. Lore that is needed to make your adventure feel more personal. Not just.. Oh. Raid.. Done.. Nothing else. But information on the raid.. And what the reason is for you going in. Even a great way to leave some hints on things that you didnt notice. Like you do the new raid. The Nerubian raid. Bam. In the end. It says. You have slain the queen.. But why was Xalathat not here.. Why did she abandon the queen. This question must be explored fast.
Housing should be more than just a bank for trophies and collectibles. But I guarantee you that's exactly what they're going to make, because that's all World of Warcraft is when you think about it. It's a very... *ahem*... "streamlined" game.

Blizzard should have to play the top ten games and City of Heroes before they do player housing. City of Heroes Lairs were epic. I once toured one where they made the entire of the inside of a Federation star ship in the style of city of heroes. It was epic. Even they should review Maplestory 2 housing. I liked the selection for that. Use the assets you have and recolor variation the shit out of them or better yet let us choose the color.
Even though the world of World of Warcraft is HUGE, I don't think there is enough space in the open world for everyone to put a house down. Housing is probably gonna be in an entire different zone like the Draenei starting island. Maybe themed like popular places (Elwynn, Silvermoon, Teldrassil, Thunder Bluff themed)? The WoW team should shamelessly copy FF14 housing for good results
The 2 biggest things for me are: 1) Don't make it like FF's housing. Having to fight over houses and scramble for them is just terrible and ruins it regardless of how good it otherwise is. 2) Don't make it a grind. Housing is inherantly an roleplay feature, and many RPers don't even do content. Just have it be an instances house you can buy for a reasonable price. Having to do grinds for something like that is fucking awful and makes it not worth touching for me. Just let it be the cozy fun feature it should be. They already confirmed housing will have no ties to player power, so it has 0 business having a grind attached to it.
I agree with almost every point except for the neighbourhoods. I have no faith in the WoW community to not make the neighbourhoods toxic af. At least have an option of a single house if neighbourhoods become a thing.
Actually I don't think so. But I'm on Moon Guard and Stormwind is always absolutely packed. People love RPing in a tavern/pub which there are plenty of in Stormwind. Also the park is popular.

Go look at the WC3 forums right now..... 2.0 pretty much fucked it up for both OG and reforged players..... With little to no reponse from Blizzard GM's.... Pretty sure Mac players have been having issues for a month..... PC users had a similar issue that was fixed within a day lol....

This will go one of two ways, most likely. 1. It's going to be complete and utter garbage due to Blizzard's general track record in recent years, over-stuffed with monetization garbage and going to be a chore to do anything with. I expect this outcome. 2. They're going to steal/borrow as many positive ideas from others that did this first and leave out the bad, and actually do it well. while i like the idea of racial housing it would feel kinda limiting, like what if i wanna have a goblin have a mix of Goblin/Pandaren decorations or a Gnome in a human stormwind house ya feel me? i also dont need much Plot land/giant mansion wise i love having all my characters in small rooms/houses with maybe 3-4 rooms with no second story either way im nervous/excited on what Blizzard is gonna cook for us
IM NOT SURE player housing is gonna be any succes, its literally only for casuals who enjoy role playing, most players will not even have anything to do with it, pvp players expecially, i miss the times when ppl were outside durotar and duelling and having fun all day, not isolating players inside instanced houses

What they could also do is make the zone dictate what kind of building the house can be. Aka Barrens house? choice between Orc or Tauren house. STV? Troll house. Feralas? Tauren or NE. So on and so forth.
Vulpera basically live in caravans only because the Sethrak drove them from their homes in Vol'dun, so no one really knows what a Vulpera house would look like

it would be a HUGE miss to not incorporate professions into player housing customization - could also make professions useful for that regard of gameplay - you need certain mats? gotta buy/trade from other players :o

Garrisons weren't a bad idea, they just weren't taken far enough. I would love to build a town (garrison) that you could customize a lot more. A town where my Alts are walking around or they even have shops that match their profs. You could also tie in some of the discarded features of old expacs like a command table center, a place where all the command tables that you have opened up over the years are all in 1 place. Banners that you can hang around the wall of the city that show who you are exalted with.
Cash shop stuff is a duh, it is going to happen, but don't link housing to player power and don't make it a 1 expac feature like garrisons.
Knowing blizzard, they will only make the housing specifically for the expansion pretty much like the garrisons, that's my bet!

Realistically, this cannot work out. Other games have years of expertise, trial and error and better engines behind them that had housing as part of their libraries from the start. At best, they can get "as good" as other games that already have housing for ages, there is no way they can outdo it. And outdoing is what most players will be _expecting_ - so this, realistically, cannot work out.
Addendum, your wish for houses "in the world" is understandable but entirely impossible. You know what will happen? The whales or even a housing mafia (happened in FF14) will acquire the best spots and demand obscene prices from anyone who wants any of them. Look at other games, such stuff happened in any MMO that has housing. That is why games like LOTRO do instances. Evenin Wow, there was a kind of "mafia" going on about certain rare resources, certain rare flowers and other ingredients. They likely ponder how to monopolize housing as I write this already.

If player housing is even HALF as customizable as FF14 it should be a win.
Based on what they shown and given how they handled things, it will be something like the garrisons:
- There are garrison-like lots available in a very few places in the world. I can see a possibility where only a specific zone introduced in Midnight got player housing possibility - reason is that they designed that zone with player housing in mind. In previous zones a technical hogwash prevents housing, as it would cause hell a lot of problems.
- You can choose from a couple building layouts. Some of them are quite basic, some of them look really nice, these cost millions of gold. Some of them look even nicer, these are premium and can be bought in the store for $$$.
- There are a couple placeholders on the wall and on the ground. You can put there whatever, like stuff from professions or earned from achievements. "Basic" homes got less placeholders than expensive homes. Premium homes bought for money got a crapton of placeholders, so you can really show off.
That's it. They promise that they will introduce more zones for player housing in the future. Each upcoming expansion features one such zone. Occasionally, like once every expansion they add housing to an already existing zone.
did they say anything about guild housing? I would be more excited about that personally.

I kinda like the way GW2 did the Homesteading thing where it's an additional profession rather than having something like blacksmithing making the furniture itself
They should take a page from the game: ONCE HUMAN's Book. Once human is kinda like an MMO and when it comes to player housing they can build their house ANYWHERE and i mean freaking ANYWHERE in the game even next to a capital city or town for example as long as they have the room meaning space to plot their environment. I think if they give us pre assigned spots and not spots we can pick it can go south real quickly. honestly just give us a quest and give us an item that allows us to plant our house anywhere in Azeroth
Knowing Blizzard, you'll probably have a dedicated housing area either in some secluded zone or instanced in elwynn/durotar, maybe one style of house per main race (allied races not included) with them adding one new style per addon and then inside your house you get these predetermined template slots you can put furniture of certain types in.
Racial specific homes... nah that's too much work and you know it, @Nixxiom. There'll only be faction specific architecture (let's be honest that means stormwind looking construction) and you're expected to love it.
I also wanted a system that FF14 went on to do. Instanced districts so you can have a customizable house and be in a living neighborhood of other players.
I also always wanted a guild hall, a place where we can meet up and hang out with our guild mates between guild events and to show off the things we were able to achieve together.
Assuming they go with the plots of land idea, it would also be neat if each plot in any given zone were randomly populated by someone’s house. I think it would make the world feel more alive. Sort of like how Fallout76 player houses work where some are visible when you log in
Nixxiom, I think it would be really cool to see player neighborhoods like in star wars galaxies, I know the systems are not in place like in galaxies to do local neighborhood economy, but it would still be so cool to see communities form in different locations all across Azeroth.

This is going to be a garrison instance with the ability to stick stuff on the wall. Nothing more lol. Months away from wow has cleared my mind.

I'm a Free to Play MMO player, and a wait and see player. I'm gonna follow this and if it starts to look good, I will start paying for my play time. For a 40 year old gamer, customization in a game is in the Top 5 reasons to even play a game, much less pay a subscription for it.
I would also add that they would need to finally scale older dungeons and raids so achieving trophies and unique furniture is more satisfying.😌

good video, completely agree with how you laid out what a success would be vs what is going to happen. We wont get to pick what zone its in, and it will be monetized.
One thing they could do for the housing is have different styles of housing and decorations be linked to factions reps so say your a human and you want to build our home in a more iron forge style you would need to rise your rep with them to get various recipes and architect plans or maybe go for a more unusual theme and rise you rep with the Shen'dralar for old high born elf sort of look. Wow has a lot of lore and history to work with now it would be a shame to be so basic as to just stick to the main factions for theme's.
One of the things they need to do in order to not f*ck it up is to keep putting things in to the system in every patch and expansion. Too many times they implement a nice feature in an expansion only to abandon it the next.
Players have to be explicit about having absolutely nothing on the cash shop for player homes.

I would love if the player housing is like the garrison. Sue me. I still like the garrison. It could have been done better. But it was good enough. But a garrison style base as your home. You have a big plot of land. Instanced. The camp starts out smal.. And can be upgraded like the garrison from small, medium to large. Maybe even much bigger. in the futrure expansion. They could even use the player housing to create GUILD HOUSING. But for regular players. A camp.. You start out with a small one.. Upgrade it bit by bit. You have a garden where yo can plant herbs.. Since so many of them look really good. Cosmetic. Not herbs that you can harvest. You could have 1 house as your main resting place.. But then you also have a bigger building as your achivement hall. Where you can see how you progression in diferent fields go. Then you have other buildings you can put in your base.. A stable. Where you can have some favorite mounts rest or walk around. A blacksmithing plot where you can repair stuff. But most of the things you have there are cosmetic. Not player power. Hell. They could even add a fun minigame to the player housing. Where you train new adventurerrs.. That start out at level 1. Think of it like training the next generation. And they progress slowly through the expansions. IN the old way. From level 1-60, vanila quests, dungeons and raids. Then 60-70 the tbc. so on and so on. And they will always be 1 expansion behind you. As you are their role model. They arent like in the garrison. Coming back with chests that give you loor. But a fun mini thing you can do. You can even have a Tavern in your camp. Where you can see them from time to time. But it all depends on what their plan is. A neighbourhood would be bad. Because it would bring out the most toxic people there is. Imagine if you are part of a neighborhood.. And they dont like you, because you arent their friend. Or part of their friend circle. They dont like how you home and area looks. Because they want everyone to have a certain look. but you dont care or dont want to. So they harras you. Because there are always toxic players in a game.. That will take things to far. So they force you to move to another place. Maybe even doing that for no reason. Other than them wanting a friend of THEIRS to be in that plot of land.. So they can only have their own friends there. Or guild members. So that idea would be horrifyingly bad. Instanced and personal would be best. It avoids the potential problem of people who focus heavily on the player housing from harrasing peoplew ho do other parts of the game. Another thing that they would have to add.. Finaly.. After 20 years.. An Actual Adventure journal. Not talking about the Adventure guide. But a journal. Showing lore information about all tthat you have done. All by expansion and zone. So that you can go back and read up on stuff what happened in each zone that you have been to and cleared. Lore that is needed to make your adventure feel more personal. Not just.. Oh. Raid.. Done.. Nothing else. But information on the raid.. And what the reason is for you going in. Even a great way to leave some hints on things that you didnt notice. Like you do the new raid. The Nerubian raid. Bam. In the end. It says. You have slain the queen.. But why was Xalathat not here.. Why did she abandon the queen. This question must be explored fast.

But I guarantee you that's exactly what they're going to make, because that's all World of Warcraft is when you think about it. It's a very... *ahem*... "streamlined" game.

Blizzard should have to play the top ten games and City of Heroes before they do player housing. City of Heroes Lairs were epic. I once toured one where they made the entire of the inside of a Federation star ship in the style of city of heroes. It was epic. Even they should review Maplestory 2 housing. I liked the selection for that. Use the assets you have and recolor variation the shit out of them or better yet let us choose the color.
Even though the world of World of Warcraft is HUGE, I don't think there is enough space in the open world for everyone to put a house down.
Housing is probably gonna be in an entire different zone like the Draenei starting island. Maybe themed like popular places (Elwynn, Silvermoon, Teldrassil, Thunder Bluff themed)?

The 2 biggest things for me are:
1) Don't make it like FF's housing. Having to fight over houses and scramble for them is just terrible and ruins it regardless of how good it otherwise is.
2) Don't make it a grind. Housing is inherantly an roleplay feature, and many RPers don't even do content. Just have it be an instances house you can buy for a reasonable price. Having to do grinds for something like that is fucking awful and makes it not worth touching for me. Just let it be the cozy fun feature it should be.
They already confirmed housing will have no ties to player power, so it has 0 business having a grind attached to it.
As long as I can build a house for my paladin in duskwood so I can be a citizen of darkshire close to my rp house I'll be ecstatic.
I agree with almost every point except for the neighbourhoods. I have no faith in the WoW community to not make the neighbourhoods toxic af. At least have an option of a single house if neighbourhoods become a thing.

Actually I don't think so. But I'm on Moon Guard and Stormwind is always absolutely packed. People love RPing in a tavern/pub which there are plenty of in Stormwind. Also the park is popular.

Housing might not work like that. Housing might be like ESO's. Where they design the house and put it in a certain spot. It might be honestly like ESO's
I think people are getting their hopes way too high with player housing. This is Blizzard we're talking about. It will be the most basic application of it with all the good stuff being over-priced items on the cash shop.
They already stole dragon flight from GW2, might as well take their new homestead system too. Let's just hope they don't put resource nodes in yards or it will be Garrisons 2.0 and you'll go back to never seeing people again.
I play on a private server that allows me to take any of the in-game assets and build as I please. I do not trust Blizzard to make anything worth while. If they did, that would be great.
Honestly, I'd be totally fine if they just completely copy SWTOR's Strongholds. Minus the crazy expensive decoration packs, of course.
It will be minimum effort like everything else, with heavy focus on the cash shop. What else would it be, its Blizzard.

By this point, the system is probably 80% done and no matter the feedback it's already too late to fix most of it, don't worry about it.
This will go one of two ways, most likely.
1. It's going to be complete and utter garbage due to Blizzard's general track record in recent years, over-stuffed with monetization garbage and going to be a chore to do anything with. I expect this outcome.
2. They're going to steal/borrow as many positive ideas from others that did this first and leave out the bad, and actually do it well. Blizzard is good at taking someone else's systems and publish a 'better' version, after all. (See dragon riding)
More games need SWG level player housing. Look how old SWG is and thry got it right,yet no other game has been able to match that to this day?

IM NOT SURE player housing is gonna be any succes, its literally only for casuals who enjoy role playing, most players will not even have anything to do with it, pvp players expecially, i miss the times when ppl were outside durotar and duelling and having fun all day, not isolating players inside instanced houses
