Anything to make you plucks better, experimenting with modulation sometimes makes you stumble on useful sounds

Tip 4: try reducing Phase and Rand knobs on the synth oscillators for a retrigged feel which helps it poke through more and have little bit more bite and presence.

The filter on the distortion module is turned off; check either PRE or POST for it to activate

Love the simple way you explain each step, make it easier to understand what each step actually does to the sound. The last step was most useful for me. Keep up the good work and thank you!

Modulated overdrive and reverb, I hadn't tried that on my synths, thanks!

Not limited to overdrive and reverb but they are more common in my design. All dependant on the preset being created :)

Very interesting and hepful. How long did it take you to learn synthesis? You know it inside and out. I am just starting to use envelopes a lot more often now

Great tutorial as always, my friend!
Let me add some off-topic doubts:
What's your opinion about using inbuilt synth effects?
Is it actually better than adding more VSTs on the channel, in terms of CPU usage?
Should I have issues when mixing?
Greetings from a Brazilian trance lover

I have covered this in a previous video can't remember which one, but treat synth fx like you do with insert FX using reverb in a synth is like putting a reverb plugin at the start of your FX chain. Difference is with a FX plugin you can change the position of the reverb any given time but from a. synth the reverb will always be at the start and cannot be changed.
Do you want your reverb to be side chained or have the reverb after the side chain so it is unaffected? these are the question you need to creatively decide. :)
Also using reverb again as the example, this could be integral to the sound design and therefor needed. If it s there to wash over the sound to make is sound big then I would turn it off a use my own reverb plugin.

@@demishellen Thanks a lot! A very complete answer (and you answered fast! haha). And I think I remember the video you are talking about (was about arpeggios maybe?). For sure I'll consider your advice on current productions!

Hi, I love your tutorials and I would like if you show us how to make our saw leads sound energetic, but without the harsher part, for me my saw leads that I make trance melodies off sound harsh and not mellow and I just can't wrap my head around it, also when I add reverb to them I just can't get rid of the metallic part of the reverb, it ruins everything. Thanks!

What is the first envelope controlling by default? Is it the amp?
