Kingdom Hearts 3 is not a 13-year-long awaited sequel with over 10 years of development, which many people would have rightfully thought was the case after the Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer dropped along with the pretty good main theme of the game, Face My Fears. Kingdom Hearts 3, as I’ve discovered after a marathon of every other Kingdom Hearts game in my Caddy Review series, is merely another chapter to the story of Sora, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Riku and the rest - that has had just as much time and effort put into it as every other console and portable release in the series (that’s had a new game release nearly every year). Once you get your head around the fact that Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3 DON’T follow on from each other and that 358/2 Days, re:Coded, Chain of Memories, Dream Drop Distance and Birth By Sleep are absolutely essential playing/research material to the story, you realise that the main numbered subtitles refer mainly to the gameplay styles being similar. Because of that, I’ll make it clear right now that if you only went along and played 1 and 2, that the Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay will most probably sell you on the game alone. For the story stuff, well, I’ll always recommend you check out a random Kingdom Hearts Explained video on UA-cam! In this video will be a walkthrough of my opinions on every Disney world, won’t show off ANYTHING from the story or secret ending when it comes to cutscenes, and all the gameplay you see was recorded with an ElgatoHD60 from my Kingdom Hearts 3 Limited Edition PS4 Pro (yes, I’m very proud of it - it’s a beauty). I know this video is so long but this ain’t no let’s play or random playthrough - it’s a pure review from start to end! Don’t forget about the outtakes at the end, though. Keyblade wielding with ridiculous cardboard Sora shoes can result in pretty ridiculous situations. There's a lot of Kingdom Heart plot summaries and Kingdom Hearts explained videos, better brush up if you're new to the franchise!

I really like the game, but I can understand why some people dislike it.

I’m not quite finished with the game but KH3 has been an incredible experience and I feel like it’s been worth the wait so far.
@@Shyrx Same, as great as it is for fans, even I can see how bad it would be perceived to non-fans, or even more less hardcore fans. It has a lot of stupid moments, and rushed moments, and just outright "what!?" moments. But KH fans tend to love those moments XD

Pretty much the hardest thing to do in this game. There are some crazy ones hidden. Harder than synthesize the Ultima Weapon, which is the easiest from the series.

i dont like the movement compared to the other KH games. just like KH 2.8 a fragmentary passage, you sprint after walking for a few seconds but the way you turn and move doesn’t feel as fun and responsive as the other ones

I have to agree. Although I confess I didn't like that it felt shorter than past titles, I also get the impression that the game was doing its best (by KH standards) not to waste my time, which I appreciate.
One of my college teachers recently talked to me about how he picked-up Kingdom Hearts 3 because he enjoyed 1 and 2 when he was younger.
Yes he ranted about the story being confusing because he never played the spinoffs.
And they're not even "spin-offs"
But the other games aren't spinoffs, they're really important to the story. lol

Pretty much my exact same sentiments, except with the post game content for one reason. We've been used to having the final mix versions of the games for a while now. If you were to go back to KH2 on the PS2 you'd have the bonus fight with Sephiroth, and that was it...
Hopefully in the future we get some DLC to act as some final mix stuff instead of having to buy the game again.
Someone else acknowledges that the original KH2 had no post-game! :D

For me, even though there was no post game, the main game bosses were actually fun and engaging in KH2.
KH3 boss fights we're bad for all except the frozen boss, the others were bland super enemies and it left an unsatisfying taste in my mouth
@@Squirtleturtlepro I can sort of agree with you on boss fights in KH2 feeling more engaging, but I didn't find any of them in this game really bad. I will 100% admit though this game is far easier compared to the others, especially when a couple of the bosses were gimmick bosses. I still found myself having fun but it is each to their own :)

That's my gripe with the ending gauntlet , why dumb them down? These already had amazing fights prior , and this one kinda was like , yeah naw.
I'm not bashing you if you think it was fun, like you said , to each their own.
But kh2s first boss (twilight thorn) was more interactive than most of KH3s bosses. And I think that's what people are missing when comparing the 2. The post game addition was a great addition, but it isn't the only thing that made 2 the best and when you think about it, it hurts.

I’m very happy with KH3. All the important plot points from the last few games were resolved, and the ending sets up future entries very well. I’m personally very satisfied and am super hyped for whatever happens next in the franchise.

To be fair to Maleficent, her plans this time don't really involve Sora or taking anything over. They never come into conflict with one another. Maleficent's just been looking for the box in the background while Sora's off doing his own thing. She has no reason to fight Sora because he's not a hindrance to her plans
But it makes sense that Sora might try to interfere in the future given his history.

Note to anyone playing this game: look at the settings, you can turn off some of the flashy animations that go on a bit too long (Keyblade transformations specifically)
That was one of the first things I did when I learned you could do it. Made my experience much more enjoyable.
The reason I always look at Config before starting a game.

Seriously, I only died during gimmicky segments like the ship part in the Caribbean world. Then again I’ve been playing balls to the wall crazy hard games like DMC5, Nioh, and Sekiro so maybe KH3 feels slightly easier by comparison.

That moment when you realize that the last 15 years of games has only just been the beginning of the KH story............
But it has been one HELL of a beginning! A single saga spanning essentially 9 games? Honestly I don't expect future sagas to be as long as this one, since future sagas will probably still build upon games from this saga. For instance, Luxu and the black box were introduced in these games, so kh ux might count just as much as a Luxu saga game as a Xehanort saga game. (Dunno if next saga is Luxu saga, just needed to call it something)
Yep! KH3 is the season finale to the Dark Seeker saga, not the series finale.
Yeah a convoluted story that could of been told in a few games, took over a decade to finish their sage.

I'm technically new to the kingdom hearts franchise (dream drop distance was my only game going into 3) and though the story jumps right into the action from every other game I'd say the game helps new players along rather well, as you can easily catch up on the story in the "story so far" section on the main menu. It was easy(ish) for me to follow along because the devs put so much of the old lore into the game for new players to learn about. It's not originally made for new players of the franchise, yes, but they try their hardest to help new players along where they can. People are just complaining to complain I think.

4:18 "A" mobile one? Don't you mean TWO mobile ones? Coded's original form was mobile, and Unchained X will ALWAYS be so!
Technically its 3, Kingdom hearts X is a prequel to Kingdom hearts Unchained X/union X (Unchained X is not a remake contrary to popular belief) as *spoilers ahead*
in X the key blade war happens and the Dandelions basically travel into a copy of the world where they lose their memories and have to go through it all again except that this time the war never happens. In the original X(chi) version we could play through the war, but in the current mobile version it never happens!
Personally, I consider Unchained X more the "second half/NG+" of X, since everything up UNTIL The War happens identically to normal. X isn't necessary to understand Unchained X since this "refresh" is addressed though. So... two and a half mobile games?
There are even more if you count non canon games like Kingdom Hearts V-Cast and Kingdom Hearts Mobile.

The Kingdom Hearts series will never end, as long as Disney keeps making movies there will be Kingdom Hearts games
So far caddy, of all the reviews for this game I've seen, you have to be the fairest and ergo best review I've seen so far. You're not gushing about the game and saying that EVERYTHING was practically perfect unlike Gamexplain (No malice, I love the guy) and you weren't completely trashing on the game for aspects that have been staples of the series since the first game, unlike Dunkey. (Again no real malice, was just disappointed in his review overall)
The points brought up were reasonable and comprehensive, both in defending certain aspects and properly criticizing certain aspects. Such as the acknowledgment of how the Hercules world eases you into the combat with it's tutorials so you're not COMPLETELY overwhelmed and the admittance that certain worlds feel lacking. I honestly felt like the minigames in Hundred Acre Woods was perfectly fine, but you are right in that it doesn't compare to the other minigames from 2.
Additionally, THANK YOU FOR ACKNOWLEDGING THE MGS4 COMPARISONS. For God's sake, I can't tell you how many times I slapped my head when people say the game is bad because its story and events are made for Fans of the series. I made the comparison several times myself but I've gotten responses that range from "They're nothing alike" to "MGS4 IS A MUCH BETTER GAME BECAUSE BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Combining this all together and your staple humor that I love oh so much, I think you may have provided not just the best review of KH3 so far, but also one of my favorite reviews from you in general. Can't wait to see what you review next week.

Tbh I can't trust Dunkey with any sort of JRPG since he has a fairly vocal bias against them, almost anything else by him is fair game though.

There's no hate campaign going on, the game is just underwhelming. It's too easy, the pacing is laughable, the writing shoots the entire series in the foot, several times, and the combat has been scaled back to a ridiculous degree, not to mention having less content than KH1, FFS.
It's not a bad game, but it's far from a masterpiece either.
Dapper Changeling also the man who made this game is making final fantasy 7 HD and hasn’t made too much progress I only bring this up because he meanders so much it hurts the games he makes and projects he gets on this is the man who wanted final fantasy 15 too be big thing but still had dlc planned and some cancelled because he wants too much but doesn’t follow through because he can’t plan accordingly

Drunk Caddy cosplaying Sora is now my favorite character you've ever done. Loved the bloopers for him, too.
This is legitimately one of my new favorite pieces of entertainment ever.
I realize it’s over-easy, it has pacing issues, and that the animations and dialogue are stretched to the event horizon, but I think the characters and gameplay at the core are some of the best in the business.
I don’t doubt that people have very legitimate flaws with this game, but each of the world’s different encounters and gameplay twists, the buildup and conclusion to each character’s arcs left me genuinely emotional at the ending. Even the continuing plots of past Disney worlds was immensely satisfying.
People have waited for this for over a decade. Of course they were gonna shit on everytjing thats not absolutely perfect

This is one of my favourite KH3 review every done on UA-cam, especially since this is one of the first ones I’ve seen where the review is actually positive and that makes me happy because this is one of my new favourite games ever and if not that my favourite game ever.
Gotta say man, been following all your KH reviews since you started, and man did you hit the nail on the head with this one. Almost perfectly encapsulated my thoughts on the game. Thanks for the review.
Actually caddy vanilla KH2 didn't have that much post game content, sephiroth was about it wasn't until final mix (the one in the collections) that the content sky rocketed, now this is still not a propper excuse i mean why would we need a final mix version of a 2019 game but hey still worth noting

There's a lot to critique with this game, but I do give it credit for being the second game that lets me fly around in space and destroy enemies in a giant twinkie.
The Keyblade forge is one of my favorite additions, it let me carry the Kingdom Key with me through the whole game. With the cutscenes not being pre rendered, and the keyblades looking rather silly this time around due to you only recieving blades focused on disney worlds, although it kept me using it most of the time instead of others in case I encountered a cutscene
