Yo just found your channel 45 mins ago. This is already some of the best mls content I’ve seen. Every time a person on FB says that MLS is a retirement league, ima just send this video.
DannyTRadio so am I really love the fact that lot of more people here and there are starting to become big fans of MLS and take this league serous. I got a lot of passion for MLS and my team! Let’s continue to get this league growing.
As a European I never really appreciated MLS and watching your videos really opened my eyes that this league isn't actually as bad as people make it out to be, I've started watching it more and more, and I gotta the league in general most certainly has huge potential and I look forward to seeing improve now!
More facts: Beckham was still good enough to go on loan to Milan MULTIPLE TIMES. I also think Rooney just left to be a player coach? But honestly, it's a double sided sword. If you bring in "old" stars then everyone thinks you're a retirement league and just trying to put butts in the seats, but if you don't bring in those players then you're not building a fan base in your nation. The trend we are going in, personally, is working. Being a selling league is a good thing because it means we know how to develop talent and we know how to scout. the MLS and Liga MX are basically doing the scouting for Europe and once the player becomes a star we reap the rewards. Keep upt he good work MLS
they do it to not delusion the fans. The true fans know, but the TV watchers don't. I mean compare it to this year. The hype on LAFC winning CCL is getting a bit crazy right now. And quarterfinals are not even happening yet.
Still working my way through your catalog of content and this video is one of the best you have done! I HATE the stigma of this league being a retirement destination... Thanks for the quality content Danny, keep it up!
Great video as always! Love it. I hate hate HATE when I meet someone who is a fan of the sport and anytime I start talking MLS that is usually the first words that come out of their mouths. The closedmindedness of some soccer fans when it comes to MLS will always annoy me. I feel like most of these people just need to go to a live MLS game and experience it. Hell, I've taken friends to USL's San Antonio FC games and they've had a blast.
For real man I really hope the league can keep growing and get big as fuck. Euro fans annoy the fuck outta me sometimes. Yes I love that shit to but sometimes when they talk shit bout MLS and all it annoys me at times to where I straight up don’t even give a fuck about Europe leagues no more.

As a European you're content is the best source on MLS that takes it seriously and treats it like any other league. More people here are slowly starting to see that as well but most still think MLS is just a retirement league which it isn't. Seeing players like Barco and Almiron blossoming in the MLS can only be good for the league and who knows. EPL started in 92 yeah but it was really just a reformation of the English football league, not a straight startup like the MLS was. Comparing any other league to the EPL is stupid because of course no one is touching them. They’re the league with the most money and best tv deals around the world. I think the MLS has done well to get their name out there as much as it has. It’d be like comparing Danish hockey to the NHL.
As an American and soccer fan, I agree with you about your disagreement with the fact that MLS is a retirement league. That is completely untrue but the European Supremacists think that because of the Player Designated Rule (is that what it's called) but that is really important to MLS, but it isn't MLS as a whole.
Last time I checked it was the Americans who call finals of a closed league the World Series. It's the Americans who call themselves World Champions after winning a championship in a closed league...Supremacists...
Lol, cracks me up when they say MLS is a retirement league....the same league that has seen the NY Red Bulls beat the mighty Chelsea 3-5 with jr players! It's a young league and is growing and will keep getting better as more players develop! EVERY SINGLE CLUB AND LEAGUE has had a beginning at some point. Those who criticize are just scared of what MLS will eventually become.
Okay so you watch the US mens national team for the first time and see this kid named Pulisic and think damn hes great wonder what team he plays for. Come to find out he doesnt play in the states at all, nor has he ever played professionaly in the States. Thats why people look down on the MLS. Most of the best players for England national team play league football in England. Which isnt the case with the US all our best young players are shipped over to Europe. Only 2 out of the top 10 goal scorers were from the US. We need to find a way to keep the young talent state side.
Sorry to break it to you my guy the league has no place for development especially for youth It's all a level playing field when it comes to MLS No player is better than none they're all below standard. So as a young player with lots of potential you can't blame them if they decide to take there talent to a club that can make them better n that's definitely NOT MLS
Well I disagree that the MLS can’t develop players. Recently we have seen teams such as NY Red Bull’s and Vancouver Whitecaps invest in their academy. And look what it’s produced, young great talents such as Tyler Adams and Alphonso Davies. Now I’m not saying that it is close to on par with European academies because it’s not, but it is improving
That is actually a great idea...the big medias of North America would raise the profile of Libertadores and the talent laden South America would raise the talent level of Concacaf...this would also raise the competition level of the club world cup...which would also raise its profile...I'm in!
MLS does need to somehow find a way to bring a world class player that is not over 30. China has done it. So i think MLS can do it if they want. Also some players only care about money, China has proven it. I dunno who, but i do believe MLS will get a lower than 30 world class player one day, and it will be all because of that player's personal greed. This is why i believe that more than Cristiano or Messi, its going to be Neymar the one that will end up at MLS one day.
MLS has great fans ,great stadiums, great finance, but shiti soccer most goals are because mistakes on the defense . It remind me to Liga MX of the 1990s early 2000s.
I don't think you should be butthurt over that, it is true anyways. Liga MX was a retirement for a loooong time. MLS is a league that's probably the fastest growing because of the experienced players coming through and offering their knowledge. It'd be different if you had a ton of players in their prime, not just Sebastián Giovinco. You're arguments were: 1) we've sold young players to Europe 2) we have young players in mls 3) the old players that come here still sell seats and play good 4) anyone who disagrees is ignorant to the 'facts'
In short yes , MLS is a retirement league. I understand how some of you think the league is growing and getting better. But mls has regulations which stop mls from growing even more. Plus the US does not want to lose their main money makers like American football, basketball, baseball. If mls does what the rest of the world does. Like having 16 to 17 year old playing futbol professionally . Then they might grow even more. But that’s where the US loses money , kids will start to lose interest in basketball , football and baseball. Because they can make money playing futbol and be a professional player at age 16. No more college basketball, football or baseball. The US does not want that. That’s why futbol won’t grow as much as you’d expect in the US.
@Dead Beat thanks for proving my point. The mls will remain a retirement league. USA is not a futbol country. As long as basketball, baseball, and American football are top priority . The mls will never reach that top level that you think it will. Remember you said u enjoy your other sports as well. Futbol playing countries don't care about different sports. Thats why it's played all year long. It's only in the USA where sports have seasons. Basketball season, football season ,hockey season.... etc.
@Dead Beat well, you said you like other sports as well. Futbol playing countries don't care about different sports. Thats the difference. Thats how you proved my point. Futbol is not the top sport to watch in the States. Thats what I'm trying to say basically. So top players come to mls to retire. There is no pressure if your team loses or slacks off . The mls mentality is "it's just a game". Hopefully you understand what I'm saying . And No, all elite leagues are not retirement leagues. Mls, Asian, and Arab countries are known to be retirement leagues. Play with no pressure.
YOO with pretty much everything you’ve mentioned in the vid I agree bro! Man I’m sick of these euro fucks calling MLS a “retirement League” & shit like that. Which also honestly in my opinion those same people probably don’t watch much MLS and just assume shit bout it and also don’t really seem to know what the fuck they are even talking about.
For me I think that it was good for a couple of stars like David Beckham, Thierry Henry, David Villa, and Ricardo Kaka to come to the league only to bring to it attention but when it got to a point where most MLS teams were beginning to fix their focus on obtaining washed up European players who would struggle in an average top five league season only to tear up the entire MLS the next year made me lose respect for the league. I think that after watching Atlanta United for three seasons with their young South Americans and Philadelphia Union promoting their academy players to the first team that every MLS team should start following these examples by giving more opportunities to young talents from the arctics of Canada to the tip of Argentina. It’s for reasons like these why the Mexican league continues to be way ahead of us. They put their focus mainly on academy players and on top young talent from across our part of the globe. Even in Europe they continually practice that concept and they’ve been doing it for decades. All I’m trying to say is that this is literally the league’s fourth decade of existence and it’s time for the MLS to discover it’s own identity and create their own legacy instead of taking old washed up completed talents from Europe. It’s already heading in a good direction with players like Alphonso Davies, Zack Stefan, Tyler Adams, and Timothy Weah going to Europe but I think we need more of that. It’s like you said, more Miguel Almiron’s and less Frank Lampards 🤷♂️
I mean, I love what's happening with the MLS, but I understand the view of it being a retirement league. Despite this video, I still can't say that it's not. Not saying it's a bad thing, but the label is not wrong to me.
And your point is? The league is still growing and was up untill now very close to shutting down due to money. He may not cut it in the big leagues but he shows the standard for mls is slightly going up
Basque FM are you sure about that? Because the average age of the MLS Best XI player is just over 28. And that’s with Zlatan’s 36 bringing up the whole average. That’s one you could’ve figured out. Also Carlos Vela says hi
10. Liga MX 9. Primeira Liga 8. Major League Soccer 7. Superliga Argentina 6. Brasileirão 5. Ligue 1 4. Serie A 3. Bundesliga 2. La Liga 1. Premier League
Sorry fam but Liga MX is still on top of the MLS. Maybe just by 1 or 2 placements. But I also definitely don't think either league is a top 10 in the world. Somewhere between 11-15 is fair
bruh the 1st league in greece, romania, ukraine, russia, belgium, holland, denmark, serbia are better than retierment league soccer.mls not even top 20 in the world
i think MLS has a huge potential to be as good as europe if people in america continue to care about it. all they need is bigger revenue. they have great potential to steal all the south american talent before the europeans do.
It really depends who you are. If you are a aging player in Europe wanting to play more games then yeah. If you are a young up and comer then it's a good league to start and get attention from the big boys
Yeah the Bigest Problem of MLS is that you're callimg it soccer. It's Football. But it whas a god video. So maybe when i go to holidays in the US i will visite a MLS game
Every other English speaking nation on earth calls it soccer (which is a British originated word) And who actually cares what it’s called? Besides snobs of course
Soccer is a boring sport and who cares if people from the U.S. or Europe think that it is a bad league. Soccer is a bad sport. NBA and College Basketball, NFL and College Football, Baseball, and Hockey are much better sports. Way, way, way more people in the U.S. would rather watch any of the sports I just mentioned over the best soccer that the world has to offer.
@@MrHoojaszczyk Because most of the world does not have the NFL, NBA, etc. If they did, they would watch that instead. The United States is rich with the best athletes in the world of sport, except for men's soccer, cricket, and rugby. MLS is dropping in viewership already and the soccer fan base in the U.S. seems to be split between those that want promotion and relegation and to mimic how soccer is done in Europe against those who want to see playoffs and understand the need for a stable single entity league.
@@mikerexaccuseasondeveloper2046 Rest of the world does not have NBA and NFL? Check your facts. They do. They have had it for years. NFL even tried to expand into Europe and FAILED because people didn't want to watch that BORING sport. Fat guys chasing an egg and told by a fat guy on the sidelines what the next play is. Just did not catch on :). And as for MLS, they are growing. Remember in 1996 there were 10 teams playing and barely surviving. In 2019 we have 24 teams (3 to be announced) and thriving.
I agree with u but people who say it’s a retirement leauge aren’t European supremacists wtf European supremacists are way worse than that trust me
Last time I checked it was the Americans who call finals of a closed league the World Series.
Those who criticize are just scared of what MLS will eventually become.
you lost me at mighty Chelsea.
@@L1am21 sorry, should've put the word "mighty" in parentheses 😝
How many Brazilian and Argentinian players from their national squad play in their home league 🤔
@@alexbeltran6668 those countries are poor. usa is meant to be a superpower.
@@L1am21 um depends on which era not because it's poor as you say it's poor compare to our country but this two nations aren't that bad
Real questions, is Zlatan a good or bad look for the league? My opinion, bad.
Zlatan is better than Zlatan
The only way MLS will attract even more fans is if Concacaf and Conmebol merge CCL and Libertadores.
Neymar al final terminó en Arabia
MLS has great fans ,great stadiums, great finance, but shiti soccer most goals are because mistakes on the defense . It remind me to Liga MX of the 1990s early 2000s.
There is a huge lack of physical commitment among defenders and in midfield.
It just seems so artificial and forced, oh and no relegation or promotion zzzzzzzz
It's getting a lot better, but still ass
@John Doe your league sucks go watch your cup playoffs and mls draft peasant
@John Doe A real fan of shit
@John Doe Tradition since 1996 lmao
@John Doe Face it,when it eventually becomes good probably in 100 years mls wouldn't even be as good as any european or south american league
@John Doe Or Liga MX for that matter
Last night MLS finally got that concacaf champions league title and quiet the doubters
It still is a retirement league
@Tim What about Kaka,Thierry Henry,Pirlo,Gerrard,Lampard? Thought about those guys, imbread imbecile?
Facts.
You're arguments were:
1) we've sold young players to Europe
2) we have young players in mls
3) the old players that come here still sell seats and play good
4) anyone who disagrees is ignorant to the 'facts'
Randy Flores those kinds of people simply hate the US and Canada.
MLS needs money. Good players like a lot of money. Money is the incentive to children and youngers become soccer players.
There is no retirement in football, they can play forever. Zlatan could play at 60-70 same with Tim Howard, etc.
Yes get the stars. That is one thing I want red bulls to embrace again. They have the young talent now they need the veterans.
What about Carlos Vela??????🤷🏻♂️🥶
I'm a fan of the league
YOO with pretty much everything you’ve mentioned in the vid I agree bro! Man I’m sick of these euro fucks calling MLS a “retirement League” & shit like that. Which also honestly in my opinion those same people probably don’t watch much MLS and just assume shit bout it and also don’t really seem to know what the fuck they are even talking about.
Club world cu bigggger than UCL? wow i though calling football "s0ccer" was bad enough. Now I see why MLS is a retirement league.
It’s like you said, more Miguel Almiron’s and less Frank Lampards 🤷♂️
its not a retirement league, its a shite league!! America should stay as far away from this sport as possible!!
Update: Zlatan left MLS and signed for Serie A: Retirement League
All real honesty
I watch Orlando cus they have nani
Yes we are
Somewhat like ISL
Yes
Zlatan Left MLS To Sign For AC Milan
Sold to the Mls when he was playing bad then when he starts playing good again hes back to Italy.
Short answer:
Yes.
I mean, I love what's happening with the MLS, but I understand the view of it being a retirement league. Despite this video, I still can't say that it's not. Not saying it's a bad thing, but the label is not wrong to me.
*YES*
Your league best player is Carlos Vela
And your point is? The league is still growing and was up untill now very close to shutting down due to money. He may not cut it in the big leagues but he shows the standard for mls is slightly going up
No one cares about the average age of players in the league. Its the average age of the decent/good players in the league which is like 32.
Basque FM are you sure about that? Because the average age of the MLS Best XI player is just over 28. And that’s with Zlatan’s 36 bringing up the whole average.
That’s one you could’ve figured out.
Also Carlos Vela says hi
Yes, in Europe it's the retirement league / Elephants' graveyard
10. Liga MX
9. Primeira Liga
8. Major League Soccer
7. Superliga Argentina
6. Brasileirão
5. Ligue 1
4. Serie A
3. Bundesliga
2. La Liga
1. Premier League
Sorry fam but Liga MX is still on top of the MLS. Maybe just by 1 or 2 placements. But I also definitely don't think either league is a top 10 in the world. Somewhere between 11-15 is fair
bruh the 1st league in greece, romania, ukraine, russia, belgium, holland, denmark, serbia are better than retierment league soccer.mls not even top 20 in the world
It is retirement league, accept the fact tho.
Younger then England ….
I mean people compare MLS with J League I mean its true
Or Chinese Super league
i think MLS has a huge potential to be as good as europe if people in america continue to care about it. all they need is bigger revenue. they have great potential to steal all the south american talent before the europeans do.
For a big European star, yes MLS is a retirement league
It really depends who you are. If you are a aging player in Europe wanting to play more games then yeah. If you are a young up and comer then it's a good league to start and get attention from the big boys
Your league is a joke please fold it utc
Ok buddy
People who call the MLS a “retirement league” are Euro snobs
"Euro Snobs" 😂
It’s time for you to talk about the need for relegation/promotion
yes
Salty
Still an retirement league and bad fans
Yeah the Bigest Problem of MLS is that you're callimg it soccer. It's Football.
But it whas a god video. So maybe when i go to holidays in the US i will visite a MLS game
Soccer. Football. Synonyms.
Yeah.... you're on the wrong channel then...
If it is such a "boring" sport why is it most watched sport in the world?
Why would they watch NFL over MLS? Culture my friend.
Why even come here and make that post? Jelly Michael?
Fucking hater:)
