    Videos are good, and helps a lot. I always try finding Khan academy tutorials over needed topics. But a LITTLE MORE DETAILED INFORMATION will be better. Please MAKE A DETAILED VERSION along with these relatively SIMPLIFIED Versions.

      You have a textbook for this. The videos are meant to help you understand the basics, so it would be easier learning the actual topic from the book.

    In 2.17 you write cytoplasm but you do mean the cytosol, right?
    As I understand it, the cytoplasm includes the organelles and thus also the r.E.R whereas the cytosol is the space between the organelles and where the free ribosomes are? :)

    Are the ribosomes attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum located on the outside or inside of the rough e.r.?

    • @NC-dk4mh
      @NC-dk4mh 8 років тому +3

      +John Hunsinger, Free ribosomes are recruited to the endoplasmic reticulum by the ER signal peptide located at the N terminus of the nascent peptide. This signal peptide is bound by the signal recoginition particle which in turn binds the signal recognition particle receptor on the ER membrane. The recruitment of the free ribosome to the ER membrane (outside) produces the bumpy appearance of the ER which to most is known as the rough endoplasmic reticulum. This is misleading however as the ER is a dynamic organelle recruiting ribosomes and then unrecruiting (don't know if this is actually a word) them so there is no defined rough and smooth ER like most learn in high/secondary school.
      but yeah: Ribosomes form the rough ER and are located on the outside of the ER membrane.
      Sorry if that's too detailed, i'm a second year biomed student :)

    I believe ribosomes should be outside of ER

    • @2ri315
      @2ri315 6 років тому

      There are two types of the ribosome. One is a free Ribosome that's at cytosol floating. But there are also Ribosomes that stuck with ER. Which will be called RER later on.

    • @hainguyenthanh5055
      @hainguyenthanh5055 6 років тому

      Actually the ribosomes of RER is on the membrane of ER.
