This beats having to decipher the broken English instructions that came with mine. Thanks for taking the time to do a walk through!
Long is exactly what you must use for astrophotography, to get hundreds of exactly the same length exposures, as well as for night timelapse :D
Sorry if Im asking a stupid question.
But for Long, it is only useful when the camera is in manual mode, with bulb shutter speed, am I right?
If the camera is in manual mode with the timer set at 20 seconds, does the Long still does anything to the shot?
@@walaoabc1234 Yes, long is for bulb mode. If you set camera to 20 sec will be a mess. Long is like another name for shutter speed when you need more than 20 seconds exposures.
@@mykolassakalauskas3374 thank you for your clarification!!! Appreciate it.
@@walaoabc1234 Yes and thank you also. I knew you could hold the shutter open indefinitely and after 20 sec it gets pretty arbitrary anyway so I get the point finally. Between the print and the broken English the directions were nonsense. Pretty nice piece of gear though.
Thanks for saving the trouble of reading the manual. 😉
I know that' right I don't like to read all the jargon either.
I just love simple to the point tutorial videos, without any fluff or childness toying around. I came here to refresh my memory on how to use my intervolometer, and this is what you share!
Great video!
Thank you so much. Your video helped me set my intervalometer.
Short an sharp straight to the point and no boring bla..bla..That´s how all this type of videos should be..Thanks a lot.
Very simple and clear🤩
I just got my intervalometer in the mail today without instructions. I came onto UA-cam via a Google search and found your video. Great straightforward how to vid. Thank you!
You're welcome and glad it helped!
I've watched a few of these videos in an attempt to understand my intervalometer but most tend to ASSUME you already know some basic things.....often people don't and you have successfully bridged this gap by explaining what we need to know as if we were 'challenged'....which many of us are....and I thank you.....very well done and FINALLY I understand it and can use it successfully....so many thanks
Cheers from Canada North where we don't have any snow.....yet!!
Thanks for the comment and glad you found the video helpful!
Great, simple instructions, made getting to know the device quick & easy. Big thanks.
Very useful tutorial. Appreciate it. Thanks.
Thank you Ryan. Very clear instructions. The manual was clear as mud plus it was so small that I needed a magnifier.
Ryan, a brilliant guide. I dug my ‘shoot’ out for a job and couldn’t remember how to use it at all. Thanks to your video I’m going out ready and prepared, really appreciate it!
THANK YOU! Your video is a huge help!
You're welcome
Thank you I have had my device on the shelf for ages so this was a great refresher course. Nicely explained
I resurrected my intervalometer after a few years of not using it to do a little school experiment for my son... and, clearly, didn't have the instruction manual. Your 5 minute tutorial saved me.
and we did a good job.
thank you
Glad it helped and thanks for commenting
Have watched 5 videos now and this I'd the best one yet. I think I can move forward now using my intervalometer.
Awesome job! A very clear and concise tutorial!
One of the best tutorials on line. Thanks. Works with almost any intervalometer including the Photolex.
Thank you and glad it helped.
Thanks for this! I've just ordered one for my Camera :-) can't wait to use it!!
Excellent video. Thanks!
Perfect explanation
Thanks
really great instructions, now I know how exactly intervalometer works!
Great video thank you! was having trouble using it at first but this answered all my questions.
I have just bought an intervalometer for Sony A7R but did not know how to use it until I found your useful tutorial. Many thanks.
Great short and clear explanation!
Thanks - such a great job explaining this!
SIMPLE AND WELL EXPLAINED,THANKS MAN :)
Great Video, very clear & concise.. straight to the point, this really helped me - I have the exact same model, I put purchased it about a month ago & struggled with the instructions that came with it (overly complicated & confusing) - keep up the good work - Thanks 😃
Thank you Daz. Yes, the manual that comes with it is pretty terrible so seeing it in a video is usually much easier.
Thanks very helpful. Always find reading manuals and understanding them a bit problematic.
Well explained, thank you
You're a lifesaver, mine came with no instructions, thankyou.
You're welcome and glad it helped!
Thank you so much. So helpful. I was tryin to decide if I should buy one
Very nicely explained in a short video. Thank you.
so useful! thanks Ryan
very clear. very helpful. Thank you!
Very helpful, thank you!
I'd like to repeat what has been commented below. I am a beginner to DSLR photography and a lot of tutorials speak like everyone knows the jargon, some of us don't. This video was simple and to the point. Very much appreciated, thanks.
Thanks for the comment and glad to hear it has helped you.
described very clearly and easy to follow.
Thanks for the video. Had to get a refresher on how to use my intervalometer and this helped. Also just an added tip, turn off continuous shot if you have it on, or don't want many shots, because I had it set and it kept shooting way to many shots.
Great tutorial, Thanks
Great video many thanks
Useful video thanks!
Just bought the exact model you have demo'd in your video, thanks so much for the demo. Liked the video allot.
Hey, glad it helped. The manual it comes with is pretty useless. If you're interested, I've just released a new time-lapse e-course that may interest you. ryanfowler.photography/product/time-lapse-fundamentals-e-course/
Great video! I'm going to use this for taking bracketed photos of the eclipse.
The prospect of reading those instructions was daunting and hanging heavy on my mind. Thanks
Thank you! First tutorial which really showed me how to use this remote :)
Thank you N = infinity was the key
this was actually very useful, thank you very much
Glad I could help Roasangella.
best tutorial on this product. Well done Ryan. Loved it.
Thank you Robert, appreciate it.
thank you man nice and simple.
Legend! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video it really helped
Thanks very much for this. I read the instructions on mine but still couldn't understand what I needed to do: your video switched some lights on in my head and now I get it, thanks.
Thanks Ryan, This is most helpful tutorial that I've found. helped me on a trip to Austria. Keep up the great work.
+Shazin Thank you so much. Hope you enjoyed your trip and got some great shots.
Thank you. I shot a Time lapse in Austria today think I will add it to todays blog. I wish i did every 10 seconds but I chose every 5.
Shazin If when you edit it to close down the time just do a faster frame rate which would replicate every 10 seconds.
Great vid. The long setting is frequently used for Astro photography
Awesome. Thanks mate.
Thank you so much!!!
This was really helpful. Thank you!
I got the exact same one today but didn't bother to read the manual ;)
Nice one, Ryan. This helped me set up mine after forgetting what the symbols stand for. Appreciated.
You're very welcome! Glad it helped.
great. nice and clear. thanks a lot
Exactly what I was looking for thak you...
Great! Very clear instructions and video/audio quality. Bought mine last year but forgot how to set it up (and lost the instructions, natch)
Thank you, glad I could help.
I have one of these and lost the manual, this video is better than the manual and a great tutorial - thanks
love your video idol .. thsnk you so much :) cheers
great video thank you so much i did take notes and I'm new to using one so this really helped me understand how to use it!!
So glad this tutorial helped!
Thank you so much for this! I'm struggling trying to understand it, was about to buy another one, as it turns out, mine is able to do the interval as well. again thank you so much!
thanks lot simpler than it looks on the manual thank you
The best and simplest explanation of an intervelometer. Much thanks! I like the part where you said "LONG" is a pointless feature. I too agree with that piece of feature on these accessories ;)
Long is the most important for astrophotography. When you want to see the stars and let a lot of light in, you need to have long exposures even up to 20-30 seconds or more. ;-)
Much better than the rubbish manual. Thx
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to share. I'm looking for one of these that will work with a Nikon D80.
Glad it helped. On eBay, you should be able to find one that will work with Nikon but I thought that you guys had them built in for Nikon?
Thank you!
Very helpful
When I needed to learn how to use this for bulb mode I discovered I had lost the instructions :( I found them eventually, but this is much easier to make sense of. Now I can use it properly. Thank you.
Good job!
Thanks for this, no manual was included with my intervalometer!
And the ones that do come with them normally are rubbish!
I bought an intervalometer and a 50mm. Going to China in a couple weeks and I think this really helped! Thanks dude. If I get anything good I will let you know!
Glad it helped Jake, would love to see it
thanks Ryan.
Excellent video Ryan👍.
Reading through the messages I noticed that some ask the same question about turning it off. Normally if you hold the start/stop button down for 3 seconds it will turn off. To turn it back on repeat again.
Nice one !!
Thanks!
you did good kid
Good Job. It helped me a lot rather than figuring out reading through, not so good user manual
Thank you. The user manual really isn't very helpful.
Great. Thank you.
Glad I could help George
THIS WAS AWESOME!!! I took notes and I will be practicing....SO HELPFUL!! BTW - none of your links below work.
cant thank you enough for this my friend helped a lot as I cant read the manual due to being written in very small font thanks
My pleasure, glad it helped.
Cheers buddy I had the same model
Thanks so much for this, I just bought a Bower remote that looks just like this and the manual was really of no use
Glad it helped. The manuals usually aren't any use. If you're interested, I just realised a new time-lapse e-course you could check out. ryanfowler.photography/product/time-lapse-fundamentals-e-course/
thank you
Thank you. What would be some good subjects to start with to stack some for effect
Great “simple” video and answered all my questions in a matter of a few minutes......tks so much!
You're welcome, Bruce. Glad it helped.
Thanks. I wish these interval timers could save settings when turned off. I get inconsistent results when enabling exposure bracketing and using the timer (Panasonic).
Thx
Great video! Thank you for taking the time. Very clear instructions and now easy to understand. Is there a way to turn it off though? does it go into sleep mode? Just take a battery out when not in use? Cheers!
I’ve had the same trouble with turning it off. If you leave it, it will go to sleep but the battery will still drain if it’s in your bag as something might knock it, wake it up and then drain battery. I usually take one battery out, turn it around and then put it back in to switch around for the next time I want to use it.
I have just dug out my intervalometer and now I am trying to get my head around on how to use it. I have the same one as you have in the video. I use my Canon camera for astrophotography mainly and I haven't found a video that explains the time difference that it takes for the camera to transfer the image to SD card or computer. If I had my intervalometer set to take a 30sec exposure then it took 20sec to transfer the image to the card would I not have to add that time to the interval time ? = 50sec total, and that's not allowing for a settling time factor. I am going to have play with the settings before I go out again to see if it works. I see that a lot of these types of videos go back quite a few years. Cheers from the land down under.
Nice clean and clear video and explanation. I had a question : What if i would like to take N=50 shots of exposure 1/200 s each ( i e. Less that 1 second) ? How can we set up the "long" setting ?
great video... and extremely well explained. I am just starting out on this time lapse stuff... So here comes the daft questions, 1 will that model work with my nikon D300 ? Thanks again...
Thank you Joseph. This specific one won’t as the fitting is designed for Canon. However, if you go onto eBay and search for ‘intervalometer for Nikon D300’ something should come up. If you’re interested in learning all the fundamentals of time-lapse photography, I’ve recently released a time-lapse e-course. Please feel free to check it out. ryanfowler.photography/product/time-lapse-fundamentals-e-course/
Hello friend, i wanted to get an intervalometer for my Canon 200D. Can you recommend one ? I tried searching the net.. but couldn't find anything :( Thanks in advance
thanks m8
I liked your clear and simple explanation and the fact that you had the unit clamped and in focus. But why did you shoot this black device against an almost pure white background? Wouldn't a mid-tone or darker be much better? On my desktop screen I could not distinguish the black buttons from the black body. I wand to be encouraging but I really think a re-shoot is called for.
