Even to this day, I feel like I never truely experienced the Promyvions. When I tell people about them, it is like I'm telling them about a dream I had. I believe that is the effect the designers were going for, and they achieved it in great fashion. I even bought the specific gear for these missions since I loved doing them so much, and always helped when someone was shouting to do them. The nostalgic feelings I have about this game is well beyond what words can describe.
Creeping around a dying memory, hunted by twisted nightmares formed of souls in eternal torment, haunted by their hatred for anything still living. That's what the Promyvions felt like to me. The creatures there were always so menacing, yet you could almost feel sorry for them if you look closely, as they appear to be mockeries of whatever they were originally. Honestly, it felt like a survival horror inside an MMORPG.
Currently people may do. HorizonXI is a private lvl 75 oldschool serrrver. We never get the old times back to 100%, because the people we met otw made a big portion out of it. But we can trrry to keep the idea alive. *highpaw* m
No game has ever had that special connection to my heart like FFXI did. Experiencing these things for the first time. It truly felt like another world sometimes, late at night when you were having fulfilling conversations with LS mates. Such a warm feeling. I doubt any game could be like that again for me.
Oh how I loved walking through the dusty remains of what used to be a civilization while listening to this music. Gazing into the darkness so far below, watching the colored orbs glow in and out of sight, it was relaxing...
i remember back when everyone was doing these. the bosses were s hard to beat, but gave you a real sense of accomplishment when you won. this game didnt hold your hand, and thats one of the reasons is was great. CoP made you a better player overall.
gods, I swear I had a nightmare that reminded me of this, and here I am once again. CoP was one hell of a trip to leave an impression that pops back up 15 YEARS later.
Omg I remember the 1st time hearing this music. Simply amazing. So gloomy and mysterious. It brings me to tears thinking of the memories I had in FFXI. God I wanna go back.
Nothing like running through Promyvion with a group in the early days of CoP in a dim room in the dead of night. The endless void of Promyvion staring you in the face with this eerily atmospheric music playing in the background. Good times.
I remember doing these and ever worse, beating 6-4 back at 60 cap. Spent 14 attempts and over a million gil on CCB Pumps and specialized gear to clear it.
Was a returner to ffxi at the time this was released. Told party I had to take a phone call just so I could listen to this music without interuption. So "[short time] [break] 5min". ...As for people wanting to return to the game. I did and it's even harder to let go this time. Though a lot has changed the player atmosphere remains the same. Selfish players are indeed few in this game. Quite the contrast from the player base of the other mainstream mmos of today.
9 out of 10 comments I read this game are exactly expressing how I feel about this game: Best. MMO. Ever. Music, Community, Gameplay. Hope FFXIV 2.0 can connect to that!
The reason why it's so amazing is because they made a real Final Fantasy game and then added MMO elements to it. Whereas with FFXIV they made a generic MMO and then added FF elements to it.
Miss the game? Wish you could go back in time and revisit all that nostalgia? Well, I actually am doing that with my free time. How? Time machine? Nope.... There's a private server up with a small community. Look up FFXI Nasomi!
Masayoshi Soken knocked it out of the park with ARR through Shadowbringers imo... i just wish they let Uematsu come back to do the Endwalker theme with Susan
@@at0micl0bster oh yeah I agree that as the expansion's progressed the music got so much better. Best soundtrack now. I love Susan but Amanda did a fantastic job.
oh god... lol i forgot about this song.... when it started playing i kinda got pissed off thinking about all those times i had to yell at people.......
Gil falls from trees, you act like its so hard to make it. There are plenty of people who like the missions still around or who are just starting up as there is a new expansion on its way in 8 days.
wish this game would go free to play or something, or pop some new server, i would LOVE to play again. just not with 23842380423084 people with 237804280348023402340234923403243 gil already and full endgame equipment. to be able to play again with people who WANNA DO the missions would be great.

Thank you for triggering a beautiful dejavú
many years later and t his music still scares the shit out of me
One of the tracks I like the most. I can't explain why, but while being in Promyvion, I always felt like I was in another world.
Most people will never understand how much 75 cap meant.

Good times.
Thumbs up if you made it past Promyvion as it was originally released with the tough Strays, ridiculously short portal times, and tough bosses

After farming memories in Promyvion so long, this piece sounds more like a lullaby now. Even today, I wish I could ride a Weeper instead of a Chocobo.
Wow so much memories playing this damn missions with LS back in the days to advance on story....I miss it
Best music in ffxi in my opinion. I agree with the last comment completely

I love this place!
Now this takes me back... makes me think of "The Void" from the Dissidia games.
the music of CoP PTSD
This music made my first crag experience creepy as hell.
First time a music piece does this to me.
@kaoz1024 I agree. People say the Promys are sad, but I don't really see them as such. Maybe a little nostalgic, sure. But good memories.

Am I the only one who finds this piece note saddening than scary?
This makes me miss all my friends so much.

+Calik Vas whereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Nasomi where everyone has relic weapons which were near impossible to get at 75 in retail
while playing ff14, i listen to this, and dam wish 14 music was as good...
ff14 is bad in general~ thats just the way i see it (again)
since the 2.0 its really good, perfect for people like me who can't live on the game to get everything like FF11
Masayoshi Soken knocked it out of the park with ARR through Shadowbringers imo... i just wish they let Uematsu come back to do the Endwalker theme with Susan

Greetings from Odin Circa 2004!
I never beat at least one of these, they last fights were the hardest thing. Or maybe me and my friends just sucked. :D
These songs are killing me I miss it... sad face lol...
gssalas07 FFXI Nasomi, search it up.
My ls think I'm crazy for liking this song and the promy zones lol Too bad they pretty much all left for FFXIV :(
FAIRY SERVER FTW ^^ the BEST SERVER EVER
@Tearani04 Hell yeah!
That was hard stuff never fully completed it actually because of how hard it was
Oh god. Not promy. I'm scared for life man.
i actually dont find it depressing at all. possibly one of the most melodic tracks in the whole game (up to where i stopped playing anyway)
oh god... lol i forgot about this song.... when it started playing i kinda got pissed off thinking about all those times i had to yell at people.......
the cap technically didnt leave though.... they just allowed you to cap your current level "and keep your gear" with minor reductions
Odin server is where its at lol!
Seconded!
Hmm... have you tried Morrowind? For me, there are two games that hold that kind of connection, Morrowind is the only other one.
its kinda tiring music i listened to it for 10 mins and turned itunes on XD

because at 99 cap you can't solo almost all of the missions. (sarcasm
This music is VERY sullen...its so gloomy. ;(
