GOP: "States Rights!"
Kansas: "Ok."
GOP: "No, not like that!"
😂😂😂
We know all about that on the West Coast. Republicans have been fighting against California's state's rights for decades.
Made my day.👍
Absolutely brilliant!!! Thanks for the belly laugh! They are so hard to come by these days. 🤣🤩❤
Aahahahahahaha
I'm a Kansan, and I definitely seen the shock and awe when SCOTUS reversed Row v Wade. I'm so proud of my state today for keeping the governments hands off women's rights and bodies.
Yes! It was a serious shock wave here. Also proud of my state, the eastern side anyway. Hello Fellow Kansan!

So why do a wide majority of Kansans vote for the anti abortion party gop ? And massively for the trump cult party ?

But you know abortion is just a controversial topic to keep you distracted while nothing is done about poverty and climate change, right?
@@simonb9573 Dude, they are basically the same issue. Forced pregnancy causes poverty and overpopulation is causing climate change.
Seth ran down the weeks news as quickly as possible AS A JOKE and yet it was still more informative and worthwhile than most actual news out there.
A group of people even went around the night before and knocked a lot of the signs down that said,”protect choice, vote No.” I find solace in knowing I was getting a good nights sleep while they were wasting their time.
Hopefully, people will continue to pay attention to politics. It matters!
"Oh, my gosh! There was a mini-hurricane that selectively knocked those signs over! How could that have happened??" Lol, grats to the honored middle of our country! :D

The people have spoken! Although I'm sure Republican politicians are plotting some other underhanded scheme to overturn the vote and ban abortion outright somehow.
@Justtess 👱🏻♂️I SOLDIERED AT THE BATTLE OF SCHRUTE FARM
I live in Kansas and vote in Kansas. Im so glad that the wording of the question is being brought to the publics attention. I had to read it several times before I fully wrapped my head around what it was saying. It was completely unnecessary and purposefully misleading.
Edit: I also received that text too and thought it was super shady.
It's really gross, the deception the GOP stoops to. Bless you for voting!
Question from across the pond. Who is sending those texts and why do people get them?
Just goes to show…if the GOP has to go through all of that to try and “trick” voters, are the really the goo guys they try to sell themselves as being?! Absolutely not. They are dangerous bc this is a GOOD example of the BS they’re willing to pull to rob us citizens of our votes and install their own crooked and dangerous agenda. Terrible.
Question from the other side of the (Northern) fence: will the people that sent those blatantly false text messages in a clear attempt to disrupt an electoral process (which, iirc, is a felony) be arrested?
Tidus Whiteblade. Thank you for your comment. And for your discernement and sense of civic responsability. Bravo!
Well done Kansans! You’ve restored my faith in Americans’ ability to sort through the crap and vote to secure freedoms and rights we should all have to decide what to do with our own bodies. Thank you!
As someone who has adhd and chronic fatigue and is constantly in a brainfog, that voter question pisses me off. I need abortion to be legal to stay safe and that question confuses me. I would need someone to explain it to me…
In 2019 Kansas Supreme Court upheld that the state's constitution protects Abortion Rights. NO was the campaign in favor of not ammending the constitution to limit and probably ban abortion. It (The Yes side) was a very misleading propaganda to confuse people. They also tried to deny their final goal, which was to ban or limit abortion access extensively. Kansas voted to keep goverment off their bodies (Libertarians, moderate Reps, Independent voters, and Dems).
One of the only good things about having Tourette's syndrome is I get disability mail-in ballot so I can spend all the time researching.
Well that's how so-called literacy tests worked during Jim Crow, no matter what you lost as they were made to be completely illogical.
There was a clarification of it in logical language on the actual ballot. Made a lot more sense than the word salad.
We all need to make sure we research ahead of time and know all these tricks they are trying to pull. Same with making sure way ahead of time that we are properly registered, have not been purged from the voter rolls, and know deadlines, locations, and any documentation needed so we don’t get cheated out of our votes.
State Rights it backfired on Republicans....& I'm Loving it.
Let's hope this keeps up haha
Me too and I'm from Kansas
Theyve been touting states rights since the civil war...a war started on the basis of slavery with one of the principle claims being that non-slave states were exercising their right to refuse to return runaway slaves. it's always been a joke they dont believe in states rights, your fights, anyone's rights
People are going forward
Densely populated areas are more diverse, less religious, and pro body autonomy, be it liberals or libertarians. I knew that would be the outcome. I am proud of my favorite state. Rockchalk Jayhawks, KU!!!
I am so proud of Kansas for protecting women’s health issues especially the right to choose abortion. I fought the same fight way back and in 1973 we saw the right to choose made law. I am still proud of that work and I am proud of all of you who are fighting the good fight now.

After all that dodgy bs they tried to pull in Kansas I'm left wondering how many anti-choice republicans actually voted no on the bill because they got confused by the wording/believed the message that was sent out saying voting yes would protect choice. 😂
Good point! In any case, it's certain that a lot of Republicans did vote no, given the percentages of the results.
@@chezmoi42 So many Republicans need to stop and consider why, for years, they have voted for candidates that were determined to overthrow Roe. But then many Republican voters don't really consider their own best interests.
I'd guess that message would have been sent to registered Dems and maybe independents only. Republican voters might be stupid, but their lawyers are not. Well, Rudy is.

Young people. There's your answer. Young people...and lots of women.. And of course, enlightened men.
Most people regardless of political leaning didn't want roe overturned. Only extremists and politicians were pushing that. Nobody was using abortion as contraception and late term abortions were medical issues. This reflects national sentiment.
Maybe the wording done to trick ppl in voting against women's rights actually ended up making those who are pro-birth vote to have abortions in the state.

Seth, I watch all the late night "real" news shows - Colbert, Trevor, Rachel, Fallon, Kimmel. I say "real" because there is no slant other than the host's delivery. Tell me what happened or what was said and I'll form my own opinion. Hosts deliver "news" with their own personal bias verbally or with other cues that indicate their stance, and that's ok. I just have to say your show is the BEST presentation on the airwaves! Keep up with the DJT impersonations, you are getting better and better. The show format is so casual and laid back - just easy to watch! Can't thank you enough for your journalistic high-bar and intellect.
I have to say. I didn't ever watch Seth for a long time and didn't care for his show. How very wrong I was! As I kept autoplaying videos, he would pop up. More and more I realized that he is funny, intelligent and most of all compassionate. I am very happy to have been so wrong.

You are underestimating how EXTREMLY dumb those people are. We are talking about conspiracy-nutters who not only have a MASSIVE confirmation-bias, it goes so far that they consider a random association they make up on the spot as sufficient "confirmation" for their bias. I feel like the whole 'overwhelmingly' thing is a bit misleading, when it comes to the Kansas election... if I recall correctly, the proposition was rejected with 57% of the vote or thereabouts, which is respectable but hardly a landslide. More's the pity, of course, but the point is that one shouldn't underestimate the number of anti-abortionists in Kansas or elsewhere. It's still going to be very much an uphill battle to secure these basic rights for women all over again...
A 14% margin is considered overwhelming nowadays, typically it'd be in the single digits.
@@bleach219 A fair point, and a sign of the times... I'm just saying, it's worth keeping in mind that 40% of the adult population of Kansas is still an awful lot of people.

About 8 years ago, we had a special election, strictly for the city I live in, to completely repeal abortion. It was worded in just such language
Of course, even if it was "passed" it wouldn't have held water, legal
I don't recall the specifics, other than it was specifically meant to confuse voters. 🙄
And Republicans just love to do that crap, the more they can confuse voters and then suppress voting in general, the better chance of maintaining power and control
That's all we need. Forget states deciding, let's let cities decide. That'll work. 19,495 cities in the US all deciding abortion rights in their city.

Correction: The parlance of the time in 1812 would not have included the word “sandwiched” as the first use of the word as a verb was in 1841. Sandwiches did not become popular in the US until the 1900s when bakeries started selling sliced bread.
Glad you’ve recovered! I hope this means we get a twice as long Corrections on friday, since we missed last week’s
Thanks Seth Wally and Late Night crew, great to laugh out loud again. Dude, you beat covid twice Rock on!
Welcome back!!! Hope you are feeling better!!
Welcome back Seth, a great show that demanded an immediate rewatch!!!

60% vote with low turnout lmao 😂😂
@@Saiputera You need to check your facts there, the reports of the Kansas turnout say they had a turnout as large as the Kansas turnout for the 2008 presidential election, their largest percentage of voters in a presidential election. The word got out that the Republicans were trying to sneak the vote past the Democrats by hiding it in the primaries during an election that otherwise had little to do wit the democrats because the races were mostly republican candidates. The Democrats and Independent voters in Kansas were motivated to vote on only that issue, so many of them only marked their votes on that issue alone. Also the Republicans were caught on hot microphones discussing how they would use the law as the first step to even further restriction on abortions if it passed. In public interviews the same republican lawmakers promised they would stop at the restriction of this law, their lying on recordings was made public and that became a big motivation for those against the proposed anti abortion law to get the word out to the voters.
@@BrianOates according to New York times article: statewide voter turnout for abortion vote in Kansas was at 46.58% lmao 😂😂
@@Saiputera it was significantly higher than it normally is, idiot. In case you can actually read, here are the historical figures: 2016 had a 23.5% voter turnout; 2018 had 27.1% voter turnout; and 2020 had 34.2% voter turnout.
@@Saiputera guess what that means? Means more people showed up to vote in support of women's reproductive rights. Now jog off.
SETH!!!! I'm so glad you're back, and utterly thrilled that it's on a night when my state is finally in the news for doing something good!!! So proud of Kansas for protecting choice (and for telling that poorly written excuse of a ballot measure to gtfo)!!!
But, I am also a jackal, and feel compelled to note that you said you couldn't use your house because Buden asked to borrow it, but the picture depicts your in-laws' house (complete with the Sea Captain) - clearly the Graphics Department missed being punished while you were all out for a week and had to immediately make a graphic that would wind up on Corrections!
But legit, so glad to have you back!!!!
Nice catch, Kansas Jackal! I noticed that, too, it will surely be mentioned and duly atoned for. And felicitations to everyone in KS who voted in that historic referendum.
I genuinely laughed out loud listening to Seth read the college paper. 🤣
So glad you're back, Seth! Hope you're feeling better!
So glad to see you back Seth
That quick recap was amazingly well done. No stutters! 🤙🏾
As a history teacher, that wordy paragraph read exactly like some of the essays my students turn in! Lmao
Spanish prof here....I've seen too many like that in poor Spanish! Lord, sometimes it would take me a while to figure out what they were trying to say!
Grammatical correction: It should be "Seth Recaps, as Quickly as Possible, What He Missed." "Seth Recaps What He Missed as Quickly as Possible" suggests that you MISSED it as quickly as possible, not that you're recapping it as quickly as possible. (misplaced modified). (Great to have you back, glad you're feeling better.)
I’m an organizer for the Kansas Democratic Party & we saw this text, immediately flagged it to the boss & told the Gov. Laura Kelly
I live in Kansas and he’s right when he says they worded the vote very shady I had to read it many times before I understood which way to vote against taking away our rights!
Same here, I had to do some research just to make sure women reproductive rights were being protected.
From see to shining see?
Seth, Wally, writers. Everything from the Giuliani bit forward was electric. Glad you're back and feeling/testing better Seth. You all made lightning in a bottle!
Omg lolol I missed the calls for Wally to host. 100% endorse Wally, and I trust the good people at Late Night to vote for the right Wally.
Edit: also happy you are back, Seth.
Who would hold the cue cards?
@@sophierobinson2738 make Scollins do it, we need Wally hosting when Seth is feeling covidish.
@@sophierobinson2738 Seth!
I'm sure Wally's a nice guy, but I never find myself laughing when he is on. I honestly don't get the whole Wally thing.
@@knavishlassie I feel like the the continuation/exaggeration of their "rivalry", for lack of better words, is a lot of the joke. At least that's why I laugh.
I had tickets for the 8/1 show and was so sad that I couldn’t see Seth. Now I’m back in CA & his show remains on my bucket list. 💔😭 Glad he’s Ok though. 💕
Made the mistake of taking a sip of water during Seth’s Trump impression and choked 😂😂😂 Also loved the school paper bit
