While watching Romulus I thought about how in many parts it’s basically Alien Isolation: The Movie. But then that made me realize that’s a huge compliment to the game for adapting the movie so damn well.
Yeah Alvarez stated that he played through the game and it was a big influence on the movie. He even talked about how the save points weren’t just references but was placed intentionally right before a big event in the movie.
I feel like I’m crazy because everyone is hailing Romulus as a masterpiece and I thought it was incredibly forgettable and inoffensive. To the point that I feel maybe the theater I went to got a bad outdated edit of the movie that was not meant to be seen by audiences and I watched something completely different.
from what i gather hardcore alien fans that had high expectations almost unanimously hate romulus. hardcore fans with low expectations and general audiences seem to like it alot. personally i have fun while watching it, but then later when i think about it i hate it.
@@JetConvoy you are not. Romulus was basically a teen slasher in space that abandoned the sci fi undertones big time. soundtrack imo is very bad, most of it dont even match the scenes let alone elevate them at all. their obsession with references make some of the acting and delivery really cheesy. set design and animatronic / cgi balance was incredible. space scenes are on dune level. people love it because most of them have no notion of how much better it could be. jump scares and nice looking aliens, set pieces and they are sold. i had some similar problems with IT movie as well, especially when I think about how much better it could be if fukunaga directed it. I think atmosphere and feeling of dread could ve been handled much better, but in both movies they ve preffered to lean on jump scares which gets old really fast imo.
it really sucked being in a locker and having that thing try and sniff you out, its just staring at you and everything... absolutely horrified me. I'm in nightmare mode as well so its all up in my business
The thing is, aliens probably not an actual organic life form with fears or any emotions whatsoever, to me they look and act totally brainless. Charge you no matter what lol
@@UnidentifiedToastProductions the character's basically walked into all the xenomorph deaths lol and the one character who was trying to get away from it just got cocooned and wasn't even implanted so I'd agree. The xenomorphs were not scary in this movie. If it weren't for the ending this movie would have been disappointing in terms of horror.
Give thanks to Ryan MacCaffrey from IGN, who rated the game with a 5.9, "Mediocre". Thanks to him, we don't have a sequel to the best Alien game ever created.
The removal of the aliens loud thumping footsteps and noises from it moving the vents like a drunk mole made the tension rise dramatically. I always thought receving clues about its whereabouts made it feel less scary but the alien as a stealth hunter is some next level horror.
One attention to detail I wish the Alien did for this during the vent segment, was that arms open long screech like in the movie when Dallas got nabbed, probably should have been a unique death animation specific to this mission DLC.
Absolutely incredible! Im only watching and I jump six feet in the air! Its a DISGRACE that no other Game Developers have made anything even remotely close to this outstanding masterpiece in over 10 years!
Big Chap is a particularly silent Xeno isn't he? just one creepy fuck crawling and being sleepy everywhere. It'd make sense lore wise I guess. I'd like it if they'd given him his own model and made the regular sevastopol drone different.
It was so fun to play this. I had many fun things and funny things happen to me. I would save my game before I beat, shot, or blasted a human or group of humans. I made a pipe bomb and chucked it directly on someone's face and it was the funniest shit in this video game. I was escaping a killer android and barely closed the elevator in time and I was safe for a few seconds until he teleported and grabbed my neck. That shit was goofy af.
I just made a video of two xenomorphs right in front of me and now I have to be extra quiet and very careful not to make any more noises because of those two
I think silent isn't the way to go. I think a bit part of getting scared are the sounds too. If possible it would be best to just limit the sound radius at around 2-3 meters, that way when you do hear it, you are likely already dead and it just scares the player more. Still a great Idea tho
Because they lost the rights of the franchise but they got them back since Alien isolation Is now on mobiles and There's another Game called Alien Blackout That is a sequel of what happened to Amanda Ripley at alien isolation but yeah she never Saw his mom Back Because she died two years before his mom was found and Ripley had no sons. And there's a new game coming But it's VR but the Protagonist is a friend of Ripley and we saw her on the Comics .
still jaw-dropping a decade later.
The best.
I had to look this up. I can’t believe this game is 10 years old. Or that a decade has passed.
It’s been out 10 years!!?? Wtf how. I haven’t played it but I remember the videos of when it came out.
@ChronicBreakdown play it it honestly is great horror game
It has aged like fine wine.

The movie even references it multiple times with the security save station modules you’d use to save your game. It’s awesome.

I tried this with VR once and had to stop. It's genuinely terrifying and it feels personal too.
took me long enough to complete the normaL version lol
Yeah, I struggle the normal way. My controller literally rattles in my hand with all the anxious trembling. 😂

"maybe."
If the aliens in Romulus had been an actual threat, maybe.

The fact that we don’t have a sequel to this game a decade later with the technology we have now is beyond disrespectful

As for the gameplay - now it is like the movie itself :D
That first one got me good xD also 3:29 crazy clutch
