    Not that far in the video. But as an Australian this woman rubs me the wrong way. Specifically her primal stuff. She's going on about living naturally and healthy. I can't help but compare it to the traditional ways of living - the way indigenous peoples have lived for thousands of years (full disclosure, I am white, so probably not the right person to bring this up). But the way she goes on about beef and papaya - which were things bought to the land by British settlers. I wish I could better articulate my discomfort. I just feel like it's very gross to talk about a primal lifestyle while not really addressing how the traditional owners of the land actually... Lived??

      Same concept for the America’s. We have actual tribes that genuinely survived and thrived off the land, and they did fantastically until you know what happened. Except.. the native Americans actually probably COOKED most of their food. 😅 I don’t know why these white people take a snippet of that and go “There’s this new CRAZY health fad!” When it’s more likely to make you ill, when the native Americans have literally BEEN thriving off that kind of mindset, and for the most part seemed rather damn healthy and well-built. You HAVE the plans, you have the blueprints for a “Primal” lifestyle that WAS PROVEN TO WORK and even dates back YEARS, but you throw them all away and chug down a raw egg. What on earth.

    • @nate6511
      @nate6511 Рік тому

      I mean, prehistoric Europeans _also_ cooked their food, especially meats and fish. Heck, there is an entire theory in archaeology that posits that by cooking, members of the various homo species (erectus, sapiens, etc.) were able to break down more food, therefore ingest more nutrients, and therefore spend more metabolic energy on their brains, which grew and which in turn increased intelligence, which in turn... might actually help explain why these raw food fanatics seem so stupid, tbh.

      this!! the moment i saw the first clip it was all i could think about. it's so tone deaf to the current ongoing discourse surrounding Indigenous peoples in Australia. like, even if it wasn't something you were taught in school ((this stuff is only recently being acknowledged)), you should be familiar with the general sentiments being held about colonisation and especially respecting Indigenous culture, practices, and the land.

I have a chronic form of leukemia. It's extremely rare to begin with and it also almost always shows up in people 65 and older; I was diagnosed at 26 but the symptoms started showing up years before that. I'm 37 now. Without the chemotherapy I take every day for the rest of my life I'd have been dead years ago. So no thanks, Paleo life would literally kill me. The bluetooth low energy thing has been blamed on everything... I first heard about it when people realized you could scan for card skimmers at gas stations (skimmers would often use bluetooth to retrieve info by driving nearby and not returning to the pump). Since then, I have seen people claim it can also detect anything from "government drones trained on you" to "chemtrail ID numbers". Part of why it's such an effective scapegoat is that things just keep getting more and more bluetooth in them, especially low energy bluetooth. It reminds me a lot of the IT scam where they use the command prompt to print out "scary numbers" which are really just network information.

      @Inkinhart Рік тому +5

      Well, depending on who you're talking about when you say 'ancestors'. There are broad swathes of the world where the majority of people's calories (pre-agriculture) came from hunted meat, or fish - very high latitudes, for instance, where anything that grows isn't really the kind of thing humans can eat. The tropics, as well, have a much greater reliance on fish, honey, tubers, and fruit than seeds. What people ate (and still eat - hunter/fisher/gatherers aren't extinct) really depends on where they live, and there's substantial parts of the world where fish and hunted meat are much more available than cereals.

    • @AaronHendu
      @AaronHendu Рік тому

      You pretty much needed to eat everything you could that wasnt toxic or poisonous in order to survive before farming. Or die. People who live in the arctic circle would have little access to anything but raw meat. Regardless where you are located, you would have spent nearly all waking hours "hunting and / or gathering". Nothing about eating raw meat in our current society is primal. These people are grifters preying on stupid people...and there are a lot of dumbass men out there waiting to give you their "energy".

    • @AaronHendu
      @AaronHendu Рік тому

      Also...raw meat would have been eaten as close to the kill as possible...these guys are eating dead animal flesh and organs that have spent days on trucks and inbetween fridges. Its gross af. You need to cook raw meat that you buy from a store or butcher. Unless yiu are into parasites and stuff.

    • @Inkinhart
      @Inkinhart Рік тому +3

      @@AaronHendu Hunter/gatherers really don't need to spend all their waking hours obtaining food. People who live in the Arctic circle have, and have always had, fire. Modern hunter-gatherers have significant leisure time - to the extent that many of them reject farming, despite having neighbours who farm, because farming takes so much longer than a morning harvesting mongongo nuts and yams. Arctic reindeer hunters would preserve their food for months (they do live in a natural freezer, after all, or they'd smoke it, or waterlog it, or just dry it), so they're not - and have never - eaten raw meat directly off the kill. They have processing sites separate from kill sites, which are both separate from their living site.

    Here’s something from an article I simply googled about the topic of what role cooked food played in evolution:
    “All known human societies eat cooked foods, and biologists generally agree cooking could have had major effects on how the human body evolved. For example, cooked foods tend to be softer than raw ones, so humans can eat them with smaller teeth and weaker jaws. Cooking also increases the energy they can get from the food they eat. Starchy potatoes and other tubers, eaten by people across the world, are barely digestible when raw. Moreover, when humans try to eat more like chimpanzees and other primates, we cannot extract enough calories to live healthily. Up to 50 percent of women who exclusively eat raw foods develop amenorrhea, or lack of menstruation, a sign the body does not have enough energy to support a pregnancy-a big problem from an evolutionary perspective.” And it continues on about how the brain may have evolved from cooked foods . If you’d like to read it yourself,
    Food for Thought: Was Cooking a Pivotal Step in Human Evolution? By Alexandra Rosati
    www.scientificamerican.com/article/food-for-thought-was-cooking-a-pivotal-step-in-human-evolution/
    Not saying every single human species never ate raw meat. Just that cooked foods in general were more efficient to us in terms of evolution.
