I'm going to be 71 this month but the memories are strong from back when I was driving a 68 GTX 440 and listening to Deep Purple Machine Head. Damn I wish I had a time machine.

Ritchie became my `rock God´ more than 50 years ago. I saw him many times on stage and followed his albums over those years. He always came across as a person of integrity and a groundbreaker. But he should have known when to stop trying to be a `rocker´. His work with Candice should have been a fine finale to an unforgettable journey.

Listening to this song reminds me of how I miss the good old Deep Purple solo duels between Blackmore and the late Jon Lord. They became great because they really pushed each other to the limit.
I love to see Ritchie on stage but I really don't like the lead vocalist. If it weren't for Ritchie, I wouldn't even watch it. I think I'll see if I can find Whitesnake doing it. Love to hear Coverdale, especially the early years of Whitesnake mid seventies.

My dad works in the classical music industry and he had the chance to work with Jon lord and this was like close to the end of his life and he would get like pissed of if my dad would even mention Ritchie lmao

He was a worthy replacement for Gillan who could NOT get along with The Black Knight-- however I like Ronnie too, he's not a Gillan or Coverdale but he holds his own- definitely a unique voice--my fav. Singer from the Rainbow 🌈 days R Dio, (of course ) and Graham Bonnet was way cool 😎 and had a killer voice, Imo---

A very brave move on Ritchie’s part to attempt his past glories with age and arthritis against him.For me as a guitarist and a life long Blackmore fan,this is heartbreaking to listen to and I just hope he is not undoing his own legacy.

I love having the opportunity to bring back old rock n roll memories. I remember Richie Blackmore with Montrose. They've done a lot to endorse my rock fantasies.
I saw Purple a few months later, August 31st 1974 at the Astrodome on the Burn stadium tour. Blackmore and Hughes stood out in my mind. They both had great stage presence and played well. But the whole band was very tight and very loud!
l just plain like Ritchie as a musician and what l see of him as a person, l especially love The Blackmore's Night stuff he has done and him on stage with Rainbow in his Blackmore's Night clothes shows he does what he wants, an original a trailblazer and what a fine musician.

First I’ve got an impression of his aging but as my second thought, his new interpretations during the guitar solo are amazing. It lost a bit of the spirit of pure heavy rock but gained more melodic aspects. I love them! Ritchie is always Ritchie.

I'm afraid that this is the only professional recording from that concert (at least that I am aware of). Hopefully Ritchie and his team will release the whole show. It would be a shame for such a great performance to not be released.

Ritchie did very well here, he's slower which is to be expected, but he's in his '70's for God's sake. Nice melodic take on the solo too, I like the way he's doing it these days. Fine vocals by Ronnie, ace back up by Candice and I'm guessing Lady Lynn too. Organist did a good job. Drummer was better here. Long live King Richard.
In 2019 Jeff Beck was playing 100,000 times better than Ritchie's playing here.. He played 100,000 times better, right up to the day he died! He was that much better, because he spent more time working on his musical craft... than being a loony tune ego maniac believing he's living in the 14th century!

Burn is just epic and my all-time Deep Purple fav song. Its harmonics are out of this world. Ritchie Blackmore is a legend, no question, one of the greatest in 70s. But aging and illness has made Ritchie struggle with his own riff and solo. The solo part isn't quite as slick as it was back in the day. Steve Morse or Doug Aldrich have done it better and totally nailed the solos.

I'm talkin heart, soul, feel, individualism. Far to many sheep very few leaders, or pure f-u artist that simply just do there thing. Arpeggios n scales, and theory, fuck all that and just plug in, if you've got mojo and character you'll be fine. There are no mistakes if it works. FACT FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS. Ritchie's my boy!!

Burn is just epic and my all-time Deep Purple fav song. Its harmonics are out of this world. Ritchie Blackmore is a legend, no question, one of the greatest in 70s. But aging and illness has made Ritchie struggle with his own riff and solo. The solo part isn't quite as slick as it was back in the day. Steve Morse or Doug Aldrich have done it better and totally nailed the solos.

Let me tell you all a little secret. Ritchie is Ritchie because he is Ritchie, not one of the million guitar slubs trying to be what they're not. Even many mainstay artist dont have it. I'm talkin heart, soul, feel, individualism. Far to many sheep very few leaders, or pure f-u artist that simply just do there thing. Arpeggios n scales, and theory, fuck all that and just plug in, if you've got mojo and character you'll be fine. There are no mistakes if it works. FACT FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS. Ritchie's my boy!!
