I love his music, but he seems in interviews like he has ice water running through his blood vessels. The same is true of Gene Simmons. I'm glad I can separate art from its artists.
There aren't many bands playing like this these days. It's exciting to watch. It would be great if we could make a performance this cool. In a sense, the realm of the gods. This is also a great talent.
I love this period of Deep Purple! Everyone talks about how great Made In Japan is, but all of the live performances I've heard from around this time have an additional level of fire and edge, in my opinion.
To do music like this you need energy to communicate energy. There was a complete freedom to find new sounds while improvising. I doubt it's still possible at 70 years old, even if Paice, Glover and Gillan who are still playing in the group have all my respects 👏👏👏
DP locked into a Dionysian, 'high-energy-at-all-costs' approach to rock. Only regret is losing that badass funky groove from the intro --- sacrifices must be made.
I’m sorry, but when you watch this, with the raw power, pure energy, brilliant musicianship, fantastic improvisational skills, and sheer Charisma of these guys on stage at their peak, how can anyone even Zep compare?
The Mob Seat I did say at their peak (being 69-73) I totally agree with you however Zep were stable from 68-80, and were more consistently good for longer. But at DP’s peak for me they were the best, all be it far too briefly.
The Mob Seat I think, in the long run the 21 albums from all the line ups since 1968 will give people much to enjoy and ponder over the coming decades. Just picking one out “Come taste the band” 1976 still sounds fantastic today despite the loss of Ritchie Ian and Roger. When Mark 2 reformed in the early 80’s they produced one of their best albums Perfect strangers. Then there are the offshoots.... Rainbow, Gillan, Whitesnake. I was 11 or 12 when this was broadcast and was allowed to sit up late to watch Been a diehard fan ever since. Saw them in 1972 on the U.K. Machine head tour. I’ve yet to here/see a better rock concert and I’ve been to hundreds since. Absolutely incredible when on form.

@Chris Manzi blackmore catmore.he is the black cats meeeooow.
Back when musical giants roamed the Earth!!!! Miss those days!! Best wishes from Plymouth UK!!
Ian Gillan, 79 years old and still Maestro, with Mr. Glover and Mr. Paice, what incredible shows in Brazil in September 2024!
Mr. Blackmore, top 3 guitarist in the world!
RIP Mr. Lord.
DEEP PURPLE IS GREAT!
DP, along with Zeppelin and Sabbath is why we have this beautiful thing called heavy metal. Those sounds changed the world 🤘🤘
agreed! just please dont forget bands that were alreday rocking it out heavy-style or that appeared at the same time: atomic rooster, HENDRIX, vanilla fudge, lucifer's friend, blue cheer, mountain, edgar broughton band, warhorse, cactus, stooges, humble pie, et al... amazing video and performance right here, btw!
*The Unholy Trinity of British Rock*
@@fernandobenitezvalencia2591 Killer fuckiing list there dude. Just started listening to Edgar Broughton last year they were off of my radar soo good. Cactus and atomic rooster are my favs and of course hendrix
Dont forget Uriah Heep!
Heavy metal was created by Dick Dale. The father of heavy metal
Gillan, Paice, Glover, Blackmore and Lord the Real Deep Purple
True music .. not like now. Taking the ol black box and tweaking voices... real organ .. real guitar playing . A REAL VOICE !!
Ritcie killed people
Rip jon lord
@@Jeff-dt7ls, what? I have heard from people who knew him that he is a horrible person, but I hadn't heard that he killed anybody. Where did you get that? I love his music, but he seems in interviews like he has ice water running through his blood vessels. The same is true of Gene Simmons. I'm glad I can separate art from its artists.
.y bueno.igual disfrute bastante
Machine head lo.mejor..aunque In rock.me voló.la.galera.
I saw this when it was broadcast in 1970. A gobsmacked 12 year old 😀 Been a fan ever since. The best live hard rock band .. ever.
There aren't many bands playing like this these days. It's exciting to watch.
It would be great if we could make a performance this cool.
In a sense, the realm of the gods. This is also a great talent.
So dam awesome...my favorite rock band of all time!
I love this period of Deep Purple! Everyone talks about how great Made In Japan is, but all of the live performances I've heard from around this time have an additional level of fire and edge, in my opinion.
To do music like this you need energy to communicate energy. There was a complete freedom to find new sounds while improvising.
I doubt it's still possible at 70 years old, even if Paice, Glover and Gillan who are still playing in the group have all my respects 👏👏👏
to do music like this you need to be high
Esto es tremendo. Deep Purple Mk. 🎸
Saw them 'live', they cut the air like a knife ! Real hard rock musicians !
When Hard Rock was Hard Rock! Cheers from Ritchie Blackmore International Fan Club (facebook)
When Acid Rock became Heavy Metal! 🤘
DP locked into a Dionysian, 'high-energy-at-all-costs' approach to rock. Only regret is losing that badass funky groove from the intro --- sacrifices must be made.
😲
I had heard the song decades ago but I'd never seen this.
The intensity
WOW
Essa formação foi a melhor do DP.
Sou fã desde essa época. Era adolescente. Agora tenho 67.
Concordo!
Com toda ctz amigo!!
Meus pais nem adolescentes eram 😄
@@MrArthur4798 espero que seu pai curta esse som.
Concordo contigo.
Simply mind blowing jam, only Deep Purple perform that way! 😮
This is the reason Deep Purple is my all time Favorite Band!!!!
I N D E E D !!!!!!!!
It’s very difficult to have different personnel really.
@@meshackgaolathe6492 Don't understand your reply?
Shouldn't Zeppelin be your all time Favorite Band?
They left everything on the stage with this performance... very good.
It's 2023. Still best band ,ever !!!
One of the best band...
@@gponmobiles for sure the best live rock band!
It's 2024 still best band ever 😊
Amazing Gillan and the others musicians. Inmortal😅 Deep Purple!!!
Nope. The 147th best band ever.
RIP Jon Lord🙏❤
😭
I was lucky enough to see him perform a couple of years before he died. Definitely a rock god 🤘🎹
4:37 😎😃😃😃🤘🤘🤘🤘
just another numbers than you 31 years that I listen DP and 47 yo... but the result is the same :)
This footage is in incredible shape for 1970.
They restored it I am sure of it
Film cameras was pretty good in the 70s, but expensive, the really expensive ones was as good as modern digital cameras even.
Just wish we had more.
Paris 1970…I never tire of it.
@@Resmioglunot really
Wow....50 years old and it seems like it was filmed yesterday...top quality..
What era! Simply fantastic. DP highest performance.
I’m sorry, but when you watch this, with the raw power, pure energy, brilliant musicianship, fantastic improvisational skills, and sheer Charisma of these guys on stage at their peak, how can anyone even Zep compare?
very true
Musically no, but the massive lineup changes of Deep Purple have hurt their legacy, compared to Led Zep's stable lineup.
The Mob Seat
I did say at their peak (being 69-73) I totally agree with you however Zep were stable from 68-80, and were more consistently good for longer. But at DP’s peak for me they were the best, all be it far too briefly.
@@themobseat until Perfect Strangers in '84,,,they came back hard son
That's the problem with New bands . No experimental and no GUTS.
CLASSIC PURPLE 😁🤟
This song is from their first album Shades of Deep Purple, which was Deep Purple Mark I . This performance is Deep Purple Mark II. Awesome baby. 😎😁👍
Gillan..💪
He was so talented and sexy too!
Proof that you don't necessarily need a big drumkit to do powerhouse drumming.
When you see the likes of Neil Peart and Roger Taylor surrounded by drums, yet Ian Paice gets more bite and drive from his "smaller" kit.
Easier to throw around at the gig's end as well.
proves you just need to know how to play
Great drummer
I agree with you but powerhouse drumming also means powerhouse drummer style isn't it ?
Richie Blackmore blew me away on this clip! The whole band really!
I was 13 back in 78,first time I heard DP mk 2.......still rocking today at 58, with the same chills running down my spine♥️
Same as me, my friend.
Mille mercis DEEP PURPLE !!!!
It’s like these guys didn’t have the time to do anything else but create and play powerhouse music. They were on a whole other level.
👀☠️🎇☠️👁️👁️🇨🇵🙋🐰🥕
👏👏👏👏👏
There will never be music like 70s and specially Purple because they played a lotta solos and were so tight together they were able to experimennt live and still get back to the song and all remain in the beat.
Woooow, Ritchie's performance is incredible! I really enjoyed it. Thank you, deeppurpleos🎶✨🎸🎤🎹👍👏👏👏👏👏
When you go deep go Purple ! Great sound on this. 100% “No Rules Internet Radio” Approves 💨🔥
Behold, the original Keyboard, at the hands of the King of keyboards.
Man, soooo damn gooood! They truly were a top of the line and above the rest rock band... each of them on fire and top notch in terms of the rock genre... such a blessing to have footage like this to review and confirm the worthiness of what we know as DEEP PURPLE!
*BANDA MARAVILHOSA, CONHECI EM VINIL 1977, AMO ATÉ HOJE* 🇧🇷
Legends.....Very Cool....Very raw and experimental.....Masterpiece.......The Original Deep Purple sound.....Blackmore and Glover going Hendrix with their instruments.....All of them are shredding.....RIP Jon Lord....You will be forever missed and remembered.......🟣🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁🔥💪👊🙏
