Ya, he never gets mentioned, but check out those vintage Bohnam Triplets he was doing, then accenting right hand left hand within the Triplet and so clean. When a Triplet falls apart all of a sudden you've got that back and forth thing happening to many a drummer, which if you don't pull out of it well sounds like a bunch of slop .... Mr. Paice could have played for 30 minutes easily, but the part didn't call for it so he did exactly what he had to do, which was Nail the solo for the time given .... Ian Paice is basically a Lefty Bohnam. Probably the most under rated drummer in the History of Rock, yet he is top 5 all time, certainly top 10.

@@NullStaticVoid Certainly, all popular artists preceding The Beatles made important contributions. My point is a sea change moment occurred with their arrival on the scene. Some suggest that the transistor radio had as great influence as anything else in the creation of a youth culture since it united American kids wherever they lived, urban or rural, under the banner of rock and roll. The Beatles defined a moment.
More specifically to the reason we're here on this page, "Mandrake Root" is some damn serious music and I Wanna Hold Your Hand" is pubescent bubblegum (not that there is anything wrong with that.)

Blackmore as one of the great guitar players of all times but i thought that he started with his greatness later, like from 1972 to 1986, this is mindblowing, all the members of the band at this show are extraordinaire, this is unbelievable stuff, thanks for sharing.

Actually, its the other way around. Guitar sound used to be much cleaner and raw sounding b/c the gain was coming from the power amp section and moderately from the pre amp. Nowadays amps have too much gain/distortion from the preamps so it does not sound as angry, raw, huge...as it used to.

The Mob Seat I think, in the long run the 21 albums from all the line ups since 1968 will give people much to enjoy and ponder over the coming decades.
Just picking one out “Come taste the band” 1976 still sounds fantastic today despite the loss of Ritchie Ian and Roger.
When Mark 2 reformed in the early 80’s they produced one of their best albums Perfect strangers. Then there are the offshoots.... Rainbow, Gillan, Whitesnake.
I was 11 or 12 when this was broadcast and was allowed to sit up late to watch Been a diehard fan ever since.
Saw them in 1972 on the U.K. Machine head tour. I’ve yet to here/see a better rock concert and I’ve been to hundreds since. Absolutely incredible when on form.

To do music like this you need energy to communicate energy. There was a complete freedom to find new sounds while improvising.
I doubt it's still possible at 70 years old, even if Paice, Glover and Gillan who are still playing in the group have all my respects 👏👏👏

DP locked into a Dionysian, 'high-energy-at-all-costs' approach to rock. Only regret is losing that badass funky groove from the intro --- sacrifices must be made.

@@mitchellsumpter4807 My list is pretty long and wide, for many good reasons. But your attempt at invalidation is pretty predictable yer narrow. I could list a few hundred that fulfill my reasoning. The music is pretty good, the improvisations, pretty good... but the sheer rebellious audacity of it all is very important to note. The guardians of social order started to tighten the grip henceforth. Music at this point had proven to be a powerful way to move millions of people.with the power of alternative musical forces. This kind of stuff horrified the Establishment. For its utter fearlessness, this performance crashed the gates of the Palace and said something terrifying. So I say hurray.

@@mitchellsumpter4807 But you wrote this: "Come on! I’m a big DP fan dut, good grief, what an exaggerated statement!" Isn't that nearly a wholesale rejection of my comment? Good grief! I don't really care anyway. It's exaggerated music and will not overturn anything important in the world of music. It's just all in good fun.
