The THROTTLE BOX Distortion serves up all genres of ROCK with cut and aggression, but retains the signature warmth and organic sonic quality found in all our instruments. While its main strengths lie in higher gain sounds, it's also versatile and the lower gain options shouldn't be overlooked for classic rock or howling blues. It also features a unique Mid Cut that scoops out midrange to produce the signature Boogie "V" EQ-curve that so many artists have employed in our amps to create the world's heaviest guitar tones!

i absolutely HATE distortion pedals for "professional" applications. im much more of a straight ahead go right into the amp kinda guy and only use chorus, flanger, delay and reverb but im thoroughly impressed with the throttle box! maybe im being biased since im a mesa boogie fan in general? but i digress
I'd love to hear how a 7 string sounds through this. There aren't a lot of good distortion pedals on the market that respond well to the low string.

That amp even made an ehx metal muff i had sound good. Unfortunately, the peavey amp I had didnt take distortion pedals as well haha

sounds exactly like my mxr high gain pedal plugged into my fender deluxe reverb amp. Like someone said below, fender amps don't seem to do justice to any seriously gained distortion box... that's why I recently got a tube marshall amp...
Except Catalinbread pedals. They're all voiced with Fenders
I have played both and own the Throttle Box. I won't say one is better than the other since both have their own good and bad points. I will say the Mesa is more versatile. The rest is going to be how it reacts with your rig. I have noticed both can sound amazing with some amps and really strident and not as good with others. Both of them shine with combo amps over stacks though.

hell yeah! i have a suhr riot and its like a hot rodded ds1 but way better. the only thing though is if you really want a good sound you gotta push the gain on a clean channel to where it breaks up ever so slightly. another cool box out there is the wampler pinnacle+ my dad has that one and its unbelievable for a distortion box. but give me a cable and put me straight into the amp and put mod effects in the loop
Maybe retract my last statement, he IS using a fender amp, might be why it's muddy and not the pedal.

i recommend this pedal, however mind has a bad resistor or something. i'm getting terrible static crackle. it doesn't sound like it used to.
It's well worth it when the guitar is always perfect when you pick it up.....Still way cheaper than a Gibson too!

6505+, it sounds killer on its own. Just for the hell of it I tried an ehx metal muff in front, sounded horrible. That's the amp telling me to be a big boy, and not put toys in front.

they need to get younger dudes to start doing demos. none of these demo videos feature any modern metal/hardcore/metalcore whatever. its all classic rock or 80s/90s metal. they could sell so much more gear if they got someone who was playing modern music to dial in a tone and play what kids/younger adults are playing/listening to. litterly NO ONE plays this shit besides maybe a bar band.

The Wampler Triple Wreck is way better imo. The Throttlebox sounds like a poor attempt at capturing the recto sound in a pedal. Very artificial sounding to me. Toylike as someone said.

Getting all your tone in a pedal is an all together stupid idea. It sounds like a toy not anything serious. Just buy a good amp...
