      I will see if I can do a quick video on that. By the way the ios app works great for reviewing full video playback, the android app on my samsung table not so good around the alert times. The alert clips work decent on both that are sent to your device.

      @@makinawake9178 I am making a video of showing events sent by lorex to android and ios, and one event of lorex emailing a snapshot of an event, I am just waiting for someone to pass house to show a device event then I will post.

      I like lower sensitivity like 40 and higher threshold near 90. I kind of like that sometimes I pick up stray cats. I most have it adhusted it a bit afterwards because it only happened once,

      Its funny, different manuals used different colors. I found out it is all up to you as far as color goes. You can change red to detect or to ignore depending on the thresholds and sensitivity you set.

    Thanks - I wonder how to configure the Lorex WebView for 4K cameras? it does not show 4K reselotion as with the direct monitor, and I know for a fact that UA-cam now allow to view in 4K, so why Lorex is not, or am I missing something... Please HELP, Thanks!

      The TV I have on the nvr is not 4k, so I lower the resolution to,workmlm on it. I did try a 4k TV then adjusted the nvr output for 4k. I didnt want to keep that tv so returned it.

      @@abeibrahim5846 I see what you mean, under camera, recording, I have my resolution set to 4k. I don't see an area for live view. I just assumed when you go to display and pick 3840x2160 the live view uses 4k. Since I can't use 4k on the tv it is attached too I didn't know.

    I have a LOREX DVR 4K system. For me the biggest drawback is that everytime I want to access my system I must type in my password. With my last system a Night Owl DVR I had the option to bypass having to enter my password.

      This is done via the computer connecting to to NVR IP. Sometimes settings only available on nvr.

    Do you know how to extend the length of time the videos are retained? For example on the Lorex Home APP I can only see 3 days. Would like to get to 30. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks

      My guess is drop the format resolution you are recording at a step see how that effects a camera. Under camera , recording, compression h.265, resolution 4k, frame rate 7, quality best, bit rate 1280 for main stream on mine, substream can have lower settings. You also should do it from the web portal IP and not the app. The app is limited and a lot of functions just don't work right.

      I know I saw that setting. I think it is under events motion detect and maybe sequence is clicked it should not be for each camera.

    Great video, been wanting a new lorex nvr. we have an older lorex dvr system that has the remote, and have the monitor and dvr in our bedroom. the remote is really easy to go from camera to camera without getting out of bed if you hear something outside. how easy will a wireless mouse be when wanting to view different outside cameras. right now I just push 1 on the remote for camera 1 and 2 for 2 and so on.

      The remote sounds eaiser. I have to use a mouse and an click in the app keyboard to type username and password that is a bit of a pain. A
      wireless mouse helps a lot. I would probably get the ethernet version now. The thing is the 6 camera system cost me like $275 while the ethernet version was over $600. Now it's cheaper.

      The camera image will initially appear with a red grid overlay. This means the entire image is currently enabled for motion detection. You can then click (or click-and-drag) to either add or remove grid boxes from the active area. Cells that have been removed from the active area appear green. NET: Red areas indicated the area you want to detect and capture motion.

      @@eltonnoway7864 Thanks - I asked because, at 5:30 in the video, it shows the area where it should not detect as per the speaker which confused me; it should have been just the opposite to detect trespassing, am I right?
      He actually said "I block out...it will pick up the trees..." so you can see how to get so confused.

      The app has a home and away feature but I have never messed with it. The app before they updated used to let you to disable notifications per camera but the new version won't let you, which really sucks.

    is there a 'generic' app that can talk to most all DVRs and it has more features than the manufacturer's? I have a lorex system. I use their app but have to click on main stream whenever I change views. I don't need / want substream.
    And I'd like to download a day's data to archive it. I am thinking I have to swap hard drives every few days to be able to do that.
    Any apps that let you connect to the drive remotely to download the raw video files?

    On my Lorex system the red area is the area selected to detect motion, not the clear area.

      I think it is different for my model for some reason. Like on mine the default color when you first start app the screen is clear not red. my choices are clear,red,yellow, blue. I have no green like it says in manual. Each region color you choose you can assign manually the sensitivity and threshold. I do not use yellow. But I just assign red as sensitivity 95 plus and threshold as 5 this is my active. I assign blue as sensitivity 0 and threshold as 100 my not active. I may mess with them again. I just did this change to confirm red is now truely active and testing it has been frustrating. My cameras used to go off exactly perfect now not picking up. I may have to reboot lorex.

      It seems to be working after a reboot. I may jackup sensitivity in one zone to 100% and adjust misfires with threshold on one camera. So the color can be set for what you want you configure each color anyway you want. I changed mine to manual and what you said, red means your caught blue means your not being detected at all and may make yellow in the middle, but really dont see a use for a middle setting.
      Maybe green shows up when you mix blue and yellow somehow.

      You are correct. He's doing it backwards.
      The highlighted areas are where you WANT to detect motion. Each highlight color can have it's own sensitivity.
      So he's not picking up anything from his clear ares.

    I setup my 3 cameras. Camera 1-4 has 2 areas and I put the connection into the NVR for the porch on camera 5. I can only playback camera 1 and 2 even if i choose a 8 camera view. Even if I choose camera 5 and I click on playback, it reverts to the playback of 1 and 2. I see the bands below for the cameras. What am I doing wrong? I did switch camera 5 to the camera 3 port, still can't playback porch events.

      You did good switching the cables onto a known good port. You could put the cable and camera that works into the ports with problems make sure the ports are all working. Sounds like bad cables or cameras on the malfunctioning ports. If the ports all check out good, you could reset the system to defaults just to make sure there isnt a bad setting.

    I have had nothing but problems with JunkX oops my bad, Lorex. I no longer get pic's or videos sent to my phone of something suspicious going on like a person, animal or slow moving vehicle passing by... What's a good setting for the threshold and sensivity that'll capture what's going on like it SHOULD DO? I can be watching the monitor and see an animal or someone in their yard JUST FINE yet I don't always get alerted on my phone... I have 4 cameras set up, 2 up on the front of the house, 1 on the garage and 1 in the back of the house. There is tons of times that one maybe 2 cameras do their JOB by alerting me on my phone. Yet the other camera must have took time off. I don't understand THAT? Or a car will pass by on the street, it'll catch the a$$ end of it. Or it'll catch a car/truck way BEFORE it passes by.. Many times I'll get an alert a "person is detected" look at my phone, lmao it's a CAR or TRUCK... For some reason at night time the back yard looks SMOKEY... A person, animal may pass and it looks like a GHOST at night time... Oh the camera that's on the garage for some reason ZOOMS-IN if a car or truck passes by, no other camera does THIS... At night I have notice some will go black out for a bit then return to normal.
    Ready for more? Lmao, the app freezes up daily when I swipe left to delete videos.

      Yeah there are problems. Mine stopped emailing alerts, but I got so used to the app alerts I didnt bother trying to fix it. I think its the gmail account I am using but I am too lazy to fix it. I dont have any facial recongition or car alerts on, just person detect. I dont get many false alarms I do block out the street where cars are from alerts and when I do have false triggers I adjust threshold and sensivity down until they are not triggered and adjust to the edge of triggering. The app works okay for me on apple and samsung occasionly I have to wait to play a video. Deleting a lot of videos does lock up forcing me to reboot my phone but if there arent a lot of videos it usually works fine.Depending on time of day or how fast a person walks by camera some cameras don't pick up. I have like 8 and usually a person walks by 3 maybe 2 pick up them up sometimes 3 . It may be a threshold thing though. I am kind of stuck with this system and since I ran analog cables and not ethernet I am pretty much stuck with what I have. If anyone were to get a system I would get ethernet for sure to future proof yourself. This cost me under $300 and a the time ethernet was like $750
      I would not buy lorex again, basically the night vision sucks on mine, although I know someone with the ethernet version and their night vision is excellent. I want wired and the cheap options aren't as available.
      On windy days I get false alerts I think I have to tighten the camera screws better on one or two. Try to adjust the time when the alerts are sent to you. The default may be 5 seconds before and after an event I think I put mine to a high level because I was missing front and end of events. If I recall, I don't record at full 4k I cut back some to save storage space so it lasts two weeks before erases, That may also help on playback issues.

      You can make it whatever color you want. As you change the numbers to what color you wish. I think the default is red.

    My Neighbor is always in my property so I have that camera set to pick up ppl and when it does and I view the video, the guy is half out of the frame before it starts to record so then I have to go watch the timeline. Is there anyway to adjust this?

      There is a way to have the alerted video record prior to the intruction. mine records 10 seconds before the motion is picked up and 10 secs afterward, and that time is adjustable.It wont send you the video instantly but seconds after the event. I will check where that setting is later today.

      Okay so I have a neighbor like yours he liked to go on the side of our house and rear yard with his dog at 2AM and let his dog poop, and we confronted him, he doesnt do it anymore since we had cameras. Mine sends me 10 seconds prior to motion and 10 seconds after or longer if they stick around.
      You set the amount of post time by going to Events, Events settings, motion detect, I set my post_record to 10 seconds and I click enable. Do this for each camera by selecting the camera on the top pull down.Also make sure on that motion detect its enabled and also click setup near smart motion detection is enabled and detect person is checked at a minimum. then make sure to hit ok after you change each camera.

      @@DesignBuildFixReview I have one other question… sorry just learning this stuff. With regard to the same camera, when I look at that camera’s timeline on the Lorex app, it was always blue with yellow lines showing events. Suddenly today, the line is yellow and is showing nothing. The only thing I changed was the zones on that camera- nothing else and now the timeline is yellow and not giving me alerts when neighbors are on my property. This is beyond frustrating.

      login to the nvr via the url go to storage basic and you can adjust the package mode time length to the amount of space it releases to overright. it removes older videos first.

    I have a problem with one of my lorex cameras. it does not work at night, it says offline. i ordered another camera on ebay & it gives me the same issue

      might be the wiriing to that camera or the external power to it. I would swap the power from a working camera to it.

    I don't understand how I can watch the monitor, it'll see a car, person pass just fine yet I don't get a notification at ALL many times? Also and this is mainly at night time. The camera that's on my garage catches many things like it SHOULD but the two that are on my house don't see it. These make no sense to me!

      I agree some cameras work better then others no apparent reason at the same light levels. I have three in the front of the house usually I get alerts from at least one most of the times all three. Also depends on how fast the person walks by. At night I have different light levels at all three. I dont have any of them set to pick up cars, also dont have facial recognition activated.

      For this model the mic does not work, I assume they use the app for different models.

      @@romeyovo there is a little speaker icon on the app on my phone. It's along the bottom. If you press the icon you can hear everything outside and talk into your phone mic. Hope this helps

      When you setup your hdrs recorder an ip address in there under network and ipaddress. you would go to a browser on your pc and type https:\your ip address you see. you may have to use chrome unless you setup edge like I show in a video I have posted.

    I have a Lorex D861A8, this wired camera gets jammed. I believe there are components in the camera that cannot handle EMI or RFI overload. My garage gets broken into and my car gets vandalized. Old damages are made bigger and new dents are made. All of this happens in places in front of a camera in IR mode. Even cameras inside the house are not picking up these nut jobs scratching, scraping, gouging and just over all making nicks and scratches all over the house, those are in normal light and cameras are recording in color. Some of the frames would be dropped and there was once 2 minutes missing from the recording using a digital clock in front of the camera. You will also not find where it is missing video recording because it is not marked on the timeline. It would just record continuously, unlike when there is motion it is marked on the timeline.

      I have a new video that helps view playbacks in Edge instead of Internet explorer try that video and see if it helps you. Do your cameras use ethernet or coax cable for the runs?

      I dont know what happened recently beside maybe a firmware update but I agree portions of video are missing. I do see the missing parts later on in the day like it is delayed. I believe the smart motion detection is being delayed and causing a problem with continuous recording. I am playing around with mine to see if I can determine the issue. I had tried to disable motion alerts and only use continuous and not sure it had fixed a problem. I am hoping the new edge fix I posted resolves this issue. If not will have to call lorex who dont have the most brillant people in support. Have you thought of a seperate camera in your car?

      I am noticing a five minute delay from recording time and my capability to play back a video timeline. If i try to play back video that is 5 minutes old it says retry on adroid app. i wait awhile try again and it plays. I never had to do that before.

      @@DesignBuildFixReview Have you ran into an issue where when motion is detected the thing thats moving is extremely pixelated? It's not motion blur, its the moving object is severely pixeled. Never use to happen and now all cameras do it, but ONLY when motion is detected! It's like the recording software freaks out. If you run it in VBR it will not do it, but in CBR it us usless.

      @@TroubledKiwi Mine started doing that if I used IE or Chrome I started using edge no problem I have a video on how to use in edge. It started doing it on android tablet but on ios no problem. My android is always low on space might have been problem its fine now, but runs best on ios.

    they refuse to give support and to make things right there night cameras do NOT work at night the sales person sold me cameras that do not work at night and they refuse to trade them for ones that will work at night. just BEWARE OF WHAT YOU GET FROM THEM

      I have like 8 cameras, one is very dark two others greys. Any idea what camera model and brand we can change out to see if the night vision fixes? i know mine has a ring of led lights but to me does nothing to increase cameras brightness.

    This camera is a waste of money. Some features never work, or just stop working, and too darn complex. It's surely not user friendly. Retuning. waste of $818.72.

      It is complex, it is also $350 at costco. Some options are not availablr on certain models.

    How do I connect my camera set up to the internet?

      The dvr has a wired network cable port that gets plugged into internet router switch port. I do not believe it supports wireless connection.
