Takes the cord, wraps it around his fingers 3 times, starts speaking. It's as much a trademark as his black clothing, singing a live show in only black shorts and his loud, knowledgeable mouth. I love the guy.
I saw one of his spoken word performances way back in 1991. At the time, I was pretty messed up over a recent break-up. During his performance he spoke of life sometimes being like a hammer, but to remain like an anvil and eventually the hammer breaks. What he said really resonated with me--what I needed to hear at that moment. I met him after the show and wanted to thank him, but I was too choked up and could only blurb a few words about my ex-gf. Feeling somewhat defeated or embarrassed, I started to walk toward the exit. As I nearly slipped out the door, he said "Hey, you know what comes after tonight? I said "I don't know.. what?". He said "A thousand more nights, but you'll still be here".

I caught his spoken word show in the late 90s at my brother's college, Monmouth University. It was on Henry's birthday on his "Think Tank" tour. It was good shit!

Damn. I don't know the guy so I didn't know what to expect when I started watching this video, but I didn't think I'd be able to watch some dude talking for one hour. But holy shit, I did.
That man's very interesting, very intense too, and quite funny at times, and he has so many stories to tell, it's impressive. He's also very easy to understand (no difficult accent), which is great for non-native english speakers.
But seriously, how is it even possible to speak like that for one whole f'cking hour without any break ?
I hope there is an alternate reality where Henry Rollins is cast as Ash in the Evil Dead series.

Rollins remains the most entertainingly interesting speaker I've ever heard. And manages to be humorous at points whilst doing it. And his music kicks ass as well. As for the US. ..I think they need Another Civil War to help cull all the racist rich assholes from society. I'd donate money to that cause. Millions would. ..perhaps Billions. We'd just have to make sure that Henry Rollins is out of the country at the time.

Haxan Gulden Listen to everything and anything, man. Classical, Blues, Jazz, Post Hardcore, alt-country, old school country, folk, electronica, etc, etc...if you're curious, check it out. Just collect music from everyone around you. I barely listened to half of what I have, but every day I explore different genre and bands.

kinda weird for him to be at wacken considering what he said about bands like Iron Maiden during Rollins Band interviews in the nineties (not referring to his stand up bit about maiden, but rather what he said about them just being a "band with a blow up doll on stage who couldnt play well" )
Didn't stop him from playing some of those metal fests with Rollins Band - I love Hank and he's introduced me to a lot of good music but am not afraid to disagree with him about shit....He had no truck with Maiden, but "moronic" is not the way I'd describe them - morons can't play bass like Steve Harris, nor can they be a thrice-published author and licensed airline pilot like Bruce Dickinson
