Running these on a 440 550 hp high compression build. They oil through the push-rod. Other than shimming they are doing just fine. Engine winds up to 7000 rpm with solid cam and Hughes EDM lifters. They are tough and durable so far 20k miles.

I’m running the SpeedMaster roller rockers on my 318. I had to clearance them to clear the spring retainers. I have revved it over 6500 rpm many times. I’ve got over 8000 miles on them and haven’t had any issues so far.

I have these on my 1972 B300 van with the 360 (Holley 4160 carb and air gap 4bbl intake). 650 miles so far without trouble. They are definitely low quality. Probably not good for 6000rpm street racing, but they seem fine for normal driving.
The main reason I bought these was because my exhaust valve seats had been machined at some point in the past that has resulted in them being recessed about 5-6mm. The stock rockers were not opening the valves far enough and they also couldn’t close all the way because the stems stuck up so high. I was able to adjust these within tolerance and my van went from 7-8mpg to 12.5mpg.
Cheaper than buying new heads, which will eventually be my permanent fix.

Stock rockers do have all that slop. Even brand new ones. Doesn't hurt a thing.

Do you have a updated on the rocker assembly and how it performs, and also what did you have for a sideways tolerance between the blocks after shaving them and adding the shims, or what would be recommended, as i order the same set and have already shaved the blocks down to align the rockers to the valve stems, any information would be great

What aftermarket 440 adjustable rocker arms do you like to use ? Comp ? Hughes?

They're PCE right? They're about the cheapest set on the market. I returned mine and went with PRW's 1.5 set. The PRW's were not packaged that well and I even had to return a couple of sets of them due to missing parts. I hope u have good luck w/these PCE's (Speedmaster's). I love the 383 too. Rocker alignment should be the same. Your probably way past that. I had hard time figuring the rocker offset. I assume that's what u meant by alignment. No one at A bodies or B bodies even knew what the stock rocker offset is. They would just spout off part #'s or say what they ran on their car. But no one actually knew. It's been almost a year since I did my motor but I think the stock offset was like .875 That's for all iron heads on wedge motors. 516's - 906's what ever. As far as I know anyway. good luck man.

Would be great if someone would go back into making a good quality ductile iron adjustable rocker. Manchini has these for a small block but not a big block.

Heads are off of a '67 and down 383. Not sure if that makes any difference for rocker alignment

Too late now that ya bought rockers, but here's a low buck tip us OLD Mopar heads know: You can shim the rocker shafts. On the pedestals under the shafts. Mopar actually used to sell the shims. Dont think they have for many years, but you can make yer own easy enough. Just make sure the bolt holes, AND the oil galley hole on each side, are drilled and oriented correctly. If you have .020 too much lifter preload, shim the shafts .020. Saves ya havin to buy new rockers, and pushrods.

Also, unless you have the VERY rare #915 castings (very unlikely on a 383), '67 and older 383 heads do have closed chambers for more compression, but also have smaller exhaust valves, 1.60 vs. 1.74. They also have poorer intake port flow than the factory 906 and 452 castings.

I bought a cheap set off eBay a few years ago, I believe they were CAT, some of the rockers seized on the shafts minutes after startup, I will never buy cheap made in China engine parts ever again. How much much is your engine and your time worth?

@@poortouringhotwiregarage5617 Glad they worked out for you! Back then even after I sent the seller photos etc he wouldn't even refund me, after a long battle he finally did. I ended buying a set of way too expensive Crane rockers/shafts after that. Nice car!

My buddy spent about 700 bucks ten years ago on Comps Pro Magnum shaft rockers for his 440. No bearings, they ride right on the shafts. But one of them seized and turned blue in the first 100 miles. Ruined the shaft too. Comp claimed he installed em wrong, with the oil holes not lined up. But my pal is an old Mopar hand, and not that stupid. They relented and sent him a new set.

I got a set of CAT rockers several years ago. First thing I did was knock out the stupid needle roller bearings in the fulcrum because those are not needed on a common shaft like a Mopar. I machined 660 bronze inserts with concentric oil holes and then I ground, at a 20° angle, some “banana” grooves in the hardened shafts. Purchased some spring steel stock and punched out my own shims in varying thicknesses and they came out right to the bees knees. I think personally I would stay away from those cheap eBay rockers and with a little machining in ingenuity you can make anything work. Great content in video by the way good luck with your endeavor 😀

Not a Mopar guy, are ya? The factory rockers, even with all that slop, work great, even with big cams, up to well over 6000 rpm. If your lifter preload is too much, ya don't need adjustable rockers (solid cam, that's different), ya need shorter pushrods...OR, the Old Mopar Guy's low buck trick, shimming the rocker shafts! Mopar used to actually sell shims to do just that! Nowdays you'd have to make your own. Just make sure you don't block an oil hole in the rocker stands.

I'm a Chevy guy and love to adjust my valve train. You never know when the customer wants to upgrade to a solid roller lifter cam. You can take all of your sloppy non adjustable valve train and cram it

gonna ad my own experience here. i bought an almost exact same set from speedmaster. GARBAGE. the roller bearings felt like they had sand in them, none of the rockers lined up, and none of the shims would align them. second, they used sbf style rockers with nibs on the bottom of the rocker, and they wouldnt even clear the tip of the valve. sent them back, and speedmaster pulled 30 bucks from refund just for return shipping.

Yeah well hind sight is 20/20. I thought it was worth the gamble but ended up biting me in the arse, that's why I posted this so that others wouldn't make my mistake. Furthermore, in the past I've bought plenty of "cheep" Chinese parts that have worked out perfect from aluminum cylinder heads to water pumps with decent results. I've also bought "quality" American parts that weren't worth the box they were shipped in. That's why I posted this review to let people know to avoid this particular rocker set up. Time to get off your high horse
