Omg I was just notified of his passing!!!! I can't believe it!!! Listening to Jimmy Buffett is one of the only good shared memories I have with my dad. I'm so speechless. Thank you, Jimmy Buffett, for bringing so much joy to so many people with your music!!! ❤❤❤
The first (of many) Buffett concert I attended was at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 1974. Jimmy was an unknown then, an alum of the University of Southern Mississippi. Tickets were $5. I was hooked. He remains one of my all time favorite singer/ songwriters. Despite his success and loyal fan base, I think he is under appreciated by many in the industry. He was a unique talent who could stir that bit of Caribbean soul in us all. I want to go back to Island too, Jimmy. I’ll tip a Tin Cup For a Chalice in your honor.
Jimmy died today at 76. Loved that guy's music. He was a great man. I'm headed out for a Cheeseburger and Margarita in his honor. See you again sir. It's always 5 O'Clock somewhere.
He grew up in Mobile Alabama, their is a restaurant here called Dew Drop Inn the song is about their cheeseburgers. Which us who lives here knows this. He also donated planes to U.S Battleship ported here in Mobile al.
This man was one of the bright spots in a troubled world. You can't NOT smile when listening to his songs!! He instantly brought the stress level down many notches.
Just heard the news, this was my favorite Jimmy song. My dad was huge Parrothead and indeeed my first concert was at age 11 at Riverfront amphitheater in Cincinnati. He will be missed . It’s 5 o’clock somewhere and we’re all raising our glasses to you Jimmy. Thanks for the lifestyle!
This song was our annual vacation song for over 15 years while crossing over the causeway from Sarasota to Longboat Key. As soon as we hit the causeway, we would blast this song with the kids dancing in the backseat and as they grew, singing along. Wonderful memories. Thank you, Jimmy, for helping create them. Rest well. On a different topic, Josh Leo and Timothy B. Schmit (with short hair) playing in the band. From what I've read, Schmit coined the phrase "parrothead".
I hope when Jimmy Buffet made it to paradise the first thing he was presented with was the best cheeseburger he ever had. They said "Welcome to Paradise, Jimmy. We got something special made just for you." And presented him with a perfectly fried and seasoned cheeseburger with the most crisp lettuce and perfectly riped tomato.
I went to a concert in a small bar back in the 70's where Jimmy sat on a stool and harmonica player Fingers Taylor rocked out. I would love to return to that time and feeling.
@@spiritosa0123 Actually cows do sing this song. If you would have listened to the song or heard the lyrics he is talking about trying to become a vegetarian.
The songbird passed yesterday, not the end of the world, we hafta go sometime. I just never thought it would happen this soon. Thanx Jimmy for 50 years of relief from worldly cares. Requiem en pace!!
This live version is so much better than the studio recorded version. For decades, Cincinnatians loved to attend the live Jimmy Buffett summer concerts at Riverbend. Cincinnati has always been "Buffett-country."
Jimmy Buffett (born December 25, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, actor, and businessman. He is best known for his music, which often portrays an "island escapism" lifestyle. Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett has recorded hit songs including "Margaritaville" (ranked 234th on the Recording Industry Association of America's list of "Songs of the Century") and "Come Monday". He has a devoted base of fans known as "Parrotheads". His group is called the Coral Reefer Band. On Christmas Day, December 25th, 2020, he will be celebrating his 74th birthday.
A hit song for 3 generations in my family. Thank you Jimmy! My love for you spread from me to my daughter, then to my grandson. This was his favorite song by you. He became a little parrothead at 3 years old. ❤
Saw him in concert at Jones Beach in NY in 1990 and never forgot the experience. Hard to believe he is gone. RIP, Jimmy. You lived life on your terms and I like to think that..to the end..you had a blast. The world is going to be a bit sadder without you in it. We lost another Royal in September.😢
I flew in to Miami from Tortola, BVI to visit my 80 yr old Mom in Coconut Grove and took her to this concert....so great..one of the best Live music events ever..having her there was very cool..she loved it....and for all of you people wondering..This song was written about Jimmy's dream burger served at Village Cay Marina in Roadtown British Virgin Islands...after crossing the Mona Passage! Thanks mate for all the fun and love! I'm still surfing Cane Garden Bay and playing pedal steel here in the VI..
RIP, Jimmy Buffett. I don't drink, but I will have a cheeseburger today in your honor. Y'all had a good life, so thanks for the music and the memories.
