Great lesson Andrew thanks.... I have a question, do you find your rebound/hand control different when translating this to an actual snare, compared the the hard surface of the practice pad?

Snare more or less the same.
Toms... cymbals that's where you need to adjust technique.
GREAT question. I do view this as a base level hand routine for chops. So many variables on a kit though.
