My First Pokémon Nuzlocke Made Me Cry

- This video was by far the biggest project that I have ever worked on. It started back in August, 2022 when I finished Brilliant Diamond. I took a few months off from editing for college, but overall I probably spent 150-200 hours on this project. I hope that you enjoyed it! I feel like someone seeing this as one of their first Pokemon videos would drastically affect how they view the franchise. (I would know, one of my first videos I saw was that old Pokemon Snap NSFW animation) *ahem* Anyway, great job on the nuzlocke and fantastic editing. Can't wait to see more videos like this.

3:00 Not sure if this gets addressed later in the vid, but Diamond/Pearl are hard to nuzlocke. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were made a lot easier by implementing later gen mechanics without adapting the games to match the original difficulty level. It’s def one of the biggest criticisms of the remakes.
I didn’t know how much easier they were when I made this. It was still fairly hard for me since I knew so little about Pokémon at the time. Thanks for the correction!

So I looked up the rules for nuzlockes and in-game trades are allowed but trading with another person isn’t unless if it’s to evolve a specific Pokémon like haunter into gengar so it looks like your off the hook about wether or not you cheated in getting the gengar
I appreciate it! I usually make my own rules for the challenges to loosely be a nuzlocke, but I change some things here and there to make it more fun for the people watching my streams or to make it less grindy. I'm glad it ended up working out though!

The point of nuzlockes is to have fun, if trading to evolve gengar is fun then do it lol and adding the magnemite is super wholesome.
I feel the same way. I mainly said that to make a joke, but making the run enjoyable is always the top priority :)

I’m pretty sure trading your own Pokémon for an evolution isn’t illegal. I’ve seen players do that in their nuzlockes as long as they allow themselves to.

It feels so wrong seeing gengar get hit by earthquake after 6 generations of games where it has levitate and thus immune to earthquake.
Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearl was a let down and an excuse for a gen 4 remake honestly.

I loved this! I can't help wanting to attach a story to a nuzlocke and that kinda gets lost in the optimised hardcore etc runs. Seeing you get so attached and all the little story beats you built with your audience was amazing! Must have been so cool to be in the chat during this!
I think you're the only person I've seen give a story goal to beating the champion rather than just 'be the best' and I love that because I had to do similair in the only nuzlocke I've finished myself to give reason not to surrender midway. It makes so much more sense, why throw your beloved friends into risky battle just for glory??
That last turnaround almost felt like arceus nudging Sneez to remind what kind of god they ARE, go rewind haha
Anyway, I dont tend to comment much but wanted to share that I loved it. Cried at the end. I love a supportive team and good redemption stories. Art was so heartwarming!

Tbh I was waiting to see if you could beat Garchomp with Moo and Jacob after all your other Pokémon died. I am still wondering. For me reviving Dialga was kind of a bummer :/ but fantastic video nonetheless!

It’s a song from a video game actually. It’s called “Blue Line” from the game Gran Turismo 2.
I know this vidoe was a while ago, but this is in reference to your chat saying your Genger is illegal.
In a Nuzlocke, trading Pokemon is not illegal, you can only trade pokemon that evolve from trading only for that purpose during a nuzlocke. Only reason people think trading is illegal is because Nuzlockes are normally done on older pokemon games through emulators where it's impossible to trade. So the only way to evolve a pokemon that only evolves from trading on an emulator was through hacks. Since older pokemon games are more commonly used for nuzlockes than the newer gen games its gives nuzlocke players an implication that you cannot trade Pokemon in a nuzlocke which isn't true. Unless you place that restriction on yourself, trading for the purpose of evolving them is completely legal. If its not set as a rule for YOUR Nuzlocke then its completely fine.
Trading your pokemon for the sake of using the pokemon you traded for nullifies the nuzlocke however as you aren't using pokemon that you've caught.

-The gym leaders had weird teams (the same as BDSP)
-To which you had almost no counters for (bronzong that are everywhere were nearly impossible to deal with)
-You had limited TMs for your limited options
-And the level curves were impossibly unfair (volkner was level 49...aaron is edging 60)
All of these problems are in the remaster. with some of them being minimized Because they Made the battles harder overall.
-Starting with fantina The Gym Leaders started to have solid strategies against you.
And the Elite four having Perfectly bred competitive pokemon and strategies
so in a way they are harder
