I watched one tonight, repair a huge hole in its web, I was absolutely fascinated to see how it pulled it all together and knit it back together most perfect. And then, the web was twinkling in the night lights, almost like each strand was spinning. This spider knits beautifully and can repair holes. 🦋😘🌺🌲
I use to walk into my home where I would see 2 or 3 drain flies a day and about 50 or so on the siding of the home. So annoying. Then after awhile I started noticing these garden spiders outside with webs where the drain flies use to be. My garden spider population went up and my drain fly pest problem decreased. I'm thankful for these spiders, my house is no drain fly free or at least so reduced to where simply doesn't matter anymore. Thanks yellow black garden spider.
Funny you mention this. I lived in Wilmington, NC for 5 years, and we had loads of argiope spiders, which are actually *not* golden orb-weavers (as I explained in another comment), though I too used to often confuse the two, as they both have ENORMOUS orb webs! The argiope generally eats and rebuilds her web nightly, while the true golden orb-weaver (nephila) will only rebuild a web if it is totally destroyed, or has to relocate. Nephila, the *true* golden orb-weaver, opts for making "as-needed" repairs to her web, but will generally keep the same web for her entire life.
These are very cool looking, I saw one this summer in my garden by the walkway. He likes the English Ivy that I planted, spins his webs in there. He can make as many babies as they want, I had confused baby Robins trying to fly in my home ! . Two families of Robins used my baby spruce tree as a nesting host, Robins love the Blue Spruce. Gardening is a lot different than I imagined, it's actually really cool and good to do. I planted a bunch of clematis vines, some roses, I do mostly petunias for annuals, begonia. I have hummingbirds, butterflies, caterpillars and all types of bees, spiders now and it's nice to see, besides just having flowers it brought all of nature to my home. Then there's the cycle of life, which gardening helps you get familiar with.
I have one right out off my front porch. In Florida we called them either Golden Silk Orb Weavers or Banana Spiders. I've never heard them called Garden Spiders though.
I have a gorgeous orb weaver that lives outside of my home. I call her Charlotte and check on her every day. Unlike the antsy but cute little jumping spiders that live around my back porch, Charlotte is always very chill and never seems to mind me be nosy and admiring her.
im in okc and have these in my front yard - searched to learn more about them - and see this channel haha i thought one had died she was missing for three days i actually got sad over it and have come to talking to her briefly while coming in and out the house today she returned! smart creature shes literally weathered some storms haha
these spiders can look really scary in person, especially when you barely notice them and their web only a few feet in front or above you. You can actually pick these spiders up and hold them between your index and thumb. they will want to get away but they won’t bite you. Atleast I’ve never been bitten. And I’ve picked up dozens in florida. They are wonderful spiders
We had them growing up in south Carolina we called them banana spiders and we would drop things in there web because when they got mad they bounced in their webs we were really immature back then
The yellow ones aren’t scary, there pretty and they bright so you see them right away, the brown orb weavers are just fat and they blend in everwhere so I walk into them
They aren't native to the USA. If you kill them or even alot of them don't feel bad. They are a sight as far as spiders come though. I'd like to imagine they help with the mosquitoes in the south.
These are not golden orb weavers... they’re yellow garden spiders... golden orb weavers actually have golden looking webs, as you can see in the video these spiders do not. Also the coloration and body structure is totally different
i saw a spider web i like spiders so i was gonna see what spider it was and i see it and its fucking massive the size of my palm i thought it was a golden orb and it was i live in georgia
So... Kill it. Got it. I just came across one of these and almost ran into it when going to look at my outside AC unit. Had to find a youtube video because they look poisonous. I do not want 100s of these in my yard with my toddler.
I have them all over my 3.5 acres. Keeps the mosquitos down, and their Fun to watch.

"These spiders are harmless to people"
But they leave webs where we will walk into them...
That doesn’t harm people
@@sladeoakes9238 have a girl walk through a spider web while you're standing close to her.
@@cynicalnitro8416 thats not the spider harming you tho, thats the girl.

@@cynicalnitro8416 omg id pay to see that. Literally, PAY
So basically, move the sac?

I came to comments for this.
Nuuuuu
Nah, I like having these pretty spideys around.
If you want to pay for mosquito and moth traps for 8 months of the year then sure move them.
I see them every where. Got a new subscriber. Was fun to watch. Great video
When I lived in NC I encountered these often. I was terrified of spiders but I always loved watching them and this one was my favorite.

i have one next to my window. imma be sad when shes goes
This was short simple and, can I say... Beautiful?
And minus all of the dumb sound effects and musical stings that documentaries like to throw at you.

I love these spiders so much!
We do too! Thanks for watching.
Me too
These are not just in Oklahoma. I have seen them around my own home in the Kansas City area.
What a beautiful spider, I love God and all his creation!!
One that lived on my porch laid five nest sacks . Will not move, these spiders are awesome
They are very rare to come across where I live.
I seen a red and black striped spider similar to a writing spider but it was not yellow and black like a writing spider smh not sure..
Mr spider will control the insects in your garden.
It's called a garden spider not a golden orb weaver
Só how big do these spiders get?
Like five centimeter torsos, ten centimeter legs I think? The females at least, the males being much smaller.
@@Sara3346 ah I see why there is a Ms Spider
They sometimes set up for only a night
I found 2-3 of these while mowing n I don’t want them near me! But very beautiful creatures
i just love orbs. thanks for this vids which i found cute and funny.
My favorite spider.

Orb weavers the ultimate yard guest❤

Theres a certain orb weaver that is almost as big as my hand
i would never move a golden orb weaver egg sack
They love my tomatoes
Jokes on you i dont have a yard
I have loved spiders since I was about five years old. The other kids thought I was weird.
Spiders are cool!
I'm glad they're harmless to humans because as a MTBr I get a lot of those on me when riding the trails.
Charlotte!
It's so pretty!
One of those were in my back yard
Uh child I live in Oklahoma and we have on in our yard. It can lay its eggs but we not keeping them in the yard👍🏽😀
She's wrong. You won't end up with more than 1 or 2. They blow away in the wind.
Well omg I am moving the sac. I just sprayed one Sunday
“Thanks for watching”........
200????????? “THANKS FOR THE NIGHTMARES!!!”
This is secretly a PSA on why you should move egg sacs

Consuela
Who tf wants hundreds of spiders in their garden? Ewwwwwwwww . SNIP SNIP.
Ahem...someone who regularly has to defend his tomatoes against white flies (me). That's who, lol
