I'm on my way down, as soon as I retire (very soon). Although it is much hotter than most places, Columbia was around 100° all through August so I got used to it. I'll take the trade-off any day compared to up north with all of the snow. Who doesn't want to retire with it being in the seventies and eighties in January. I don't remember it dropping below mid to low forties ever. Although Bluffton and Beaufort are a bit pricey.. that is where I choose to live out my final years. See you soon!

All it'll take is one hurricane, and insurance companies will use that as an excuse to raise your rates double-digits EVERY year. Take it from a Floridian. It's happening down here, and many people are considering moving OUT of Florida, because it's getting crazy just trying to buy homeowners insurance.
I’ve heard that and it’s such a shame! In fact, I have a nice couple coming in from FL in two weeks and this was a huge factor for them too. I think they will love Bluffton for sure but it’s too bad they were getting priced out where they were.

Trying hard to convince wife to move there (she’s artsy, so she likes Old Bluffton) after I retire next year in WNY. Beaufort is also in play, as I’m retired military.

I sincerely hope those moving from other areas of the country, specifically blue states, do not bring leftist policies and voting with them! Don’t leave your area because it is too expensive and then vote blue.
