The only thing I dislike about my Moras: They make me question my knife enthusiasm (and sometimes my sanity) every time I use them! That's because they make it really hard to justify all those expensive knives that we all love. I carry mine as a neck knife with the paracord going as a loop around the handle - takes care of the sheath retention problem that occurs over time.
I also have more expensive knives that never get used because I always use the moras. I have yet to wear out any of them and I’ve abused them for years! I bought two of the bahco wrecking knives and I’ve only used one for house work and camping because they’re so durable and cheap!
Yes I blame mora for making sell off 75% of my fixed blade collection because they never see action. I could be happy with having an only Mora collection and 1 safe queen fixed blade like Bark river
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. BUT still think you can't have too many knives and variety is the spice of life so they say so all we are doing is keeping things spicy . Yes I know ,it is not the best excuse for being a knife fanatic but it was not bad for "spur of the moment "🤣
I’ve used the companion for everything I need a knife for. Camping(food prep), chores, wood carving, and I carry this sometimes as an edc. So far it’s been great
If you're on a budget, or even if you're not, Mora's are hard to beat as long as you like a scandi grind knife. I don't have any of the lower cost ones like the companion, but I have the Kansbol, the Black, and the Garberg. I like the Black enough I bought a second one if that tells you anything about my opinion on is it worth the extra money. The handle is so damn comfortable on it, at least for my hand anyways. One rides non-stop in my pack as a backup, or as a secondary for when I carry a larger chopper/survival knife. I have knives that cost me $300, but they don't do anything the Mora's can't do, other than look pretty and hold their edge longer due to the steel on them.
I love the blade shape! The carbon for wood n weeds! Stainless for harvesting greens, etc. A stainless yellow/orange tied to new jondeere got the pigeye from wife! Lol. I love the tan for darker areas.
Ordered a Tops BOB, before arriving I already printed out the return label. Ordered a companion instead, I simply can't convince myself anymore that I need an expensive knife. Been carying a case sodbuster (full size) for the last year, love it!
Excellent video my friend, I have a lot of knives eg.Bark River lionsteel.Helle,Martini and Mora. Now the knives I bring out in the field are the Mora Garberg and companion for field dressing deer and camp work.I don't batton with any knives that is what Axes are made for.Stay safe.
Ya just can't beat a Mora. I have a BK 9 and I have attached a Mora Companion to the sheath pocket. I have not decided how to secure the bottom of the Mora sheath to the BK9 yet but I'm sure it will come to me. A large knife like the Junglas or the BK 9 needs a small knife to do small stuff with. I EDC a 6 inch blade and I have pouched a WorkPro multitool to those blade sheaths. My bushcraft and camping knives have a pouched ferro rod, striker and piece of fat wood attached, So every one needs to make their knives their own to suit their needs. The Mora can't be beat. Great vid I enjoyed it.
I have one in each of my cars. My get home bag and in my shop. I focus on low-budget but usable knives. Ok, maybe some that I just like to have, too ;)
lost my mora companion in the snow last week so just ordered another one, went with carbon steel this time. Great knife, many uses, super super easy to sharpen even for beginners, and comfortable to use...and the sheath is great I love that you dont have to undo your belt to put the sheath on...cant really ask for more in a knife especially at how cheap it is
I've got one of the cheaper Mora's (forget which model) and I was always nervous of the weak sheath retention. I read that a 'quick-fix' is to use a woman's elasticated hair band doubled over to keep it secure in the sheath. And it works!
You know Paul, twelve years of marriage has taught me that women’s items have tons of practical applications that women never use them for; tights for conformable dust filters, hair bands for retaining knives, the list goes on. And of course, don’t forget suspenders for looking foxy at the weekend…er…no, wait I mean…shit!
Mora knives are out standing. I have many knives in my collection but. The Mora is the. One that gets t he most field time. I have also bought a half dozen each time I go hunting in Africa or Europe and give my guide, the Camp help each one when I first get in camp and the service I get is nothing short of First class. Which reminds me, I need to order some more Moras for my fall hunting. Great knife and well worth the $… GJ/ Dallas
This is stainless steel and 2.5mm thick. The popular standard carbon steel companion is 2 mm thick. The companion HD carbon steel is 3.2 mm thick with a thicker handle and same sheath. Add a parcord loop (or leather or a caribener) to your belt then attach to the belt clip as a dangler if required. Black hair band under the clip as a fail safe retention clasp.
Pendleton Lite Hunter is what I use for cheap backups. I have a Companion that I might give my nephew to replace his Lite Hunter because the sheathe is too tight on it for him.

Hi there hope you enjoyed your new knife is there any actual physical reason why the price? I was wondering the same thing about the dessert is the handle none rubberised for dry environment for eg ??
@@lewislister7720 I didn't notice any difference, and still don't. I've since purchased a couple more, got the OD green one a while back and they all work well. There is a price difference in stainless and carbon, but that's all I could see.

Anyone who wants to baton with their mora, I suggest the companion HD. Even the bushcraft is solid for batonning logs you'd typically need an axe for. These knives are tough AF!
I love ❤️ Mora knives and they are not cheap they’re inexpensive well made tools. I will die one day but Mora knives will live forever, except carbon,it will slowly rust, but there’s forced patina on it so kiss 💋 my arsenal 😂 😆 😝
For processing livestock, from gutting to skinning and even boning out an entire carcass, nothing works better for me the the plain old boring Mora Companion.I'll start out with several different cooler, pricier knives I like, and want to work for me. But, 5 mins in ,the Mora is the only thing in my hand.
A Scandi grind for skinning, boning or general butchering? Seriously? If it's a nostalgic feeling you're after or the low cost of a Mora, you can get better results with an inexpensive Old Hickory for processing meat than any Scandi ground knife. To each their own but there is a reason different types, grinds, sizes, shapes, thickness & geometry of knife blades exist. Scandi grinds are great outdoor tools but fail miserably at skinning a fish or skinning & butchering large game as well as any other food prep. It splits & breaks apart the food & meat you are trying to slice cleanly.
A thin scandi like the companion, should be ok for skinning, yes it won't be as good as a thin flat ground normal blade , but it definitely better than the thicker scandi models. The main thing is the mora's are 1 cheap 2 they are easy to sharpen. Yes they aren't perfect for skinning or foodprep, but they are a good allrounder. (This is just the companion, I'm referring about).
They work well in deer for me. I prde myself on leaving very little meat on the bone or hide. I think if you get use to the angle the knife cuts at, itll work great. Many hunters use helle knives that are essentially the same grind. The fins are partial to marttiini puukkos for the same purposes. To each there own indeed. @@Imightberiding
The only complaint I have with mine is that the spine is a little too rounded. I tend to have trouble sparking ferro rods with the spine of this knife. Maybe that's just me. I don't know if anyone has any advice for me on that...
