I love moras you get a sharp knife every time you order one and you do not have to work on them all ready to go right out of the box I do not like sharping and working on a brand new knife big turn off. thanks for sharing the companion is a wonderful knife. I love mine.
Walmart started carrying these!! I got my first one a week ago, I've seen them a lot for Bushcraft and was curious, it really is a nice very practical knife
I just grabbed a stainless companion knife for hunting and fishing. I was so impressed by its sharpness and ergonomics that I grabbed a second version in carbon for widdling sticks and general outdoor use. Did a real cool forced patina with mustard. Plus I have a great idea for a fathers day gift now.
Very interesting what you had to say about the guy who wouldn't repurchase his Garberg and just how useful these less expensive Moras are. Been using a Hultafors all summer outdoors and for carving/whittling at home, it's been great. Have more expensive knives but carried on with the budget ones, the job was getting done well. Have Moras, including a couple I've had over a decade, still doing the job well.
Hello again! I was thinking about buying the mora garberg, but than i thought again and bought a kansbol and a companion, they are together still under the price of the garberg. First i wasn't sure what to expect from a knife this cheap, but man, i was in for a surprise. Tho i have much more expensive knives, i find myself going in the woods more and more with those moras. They are fun to work with, weigh almost nothing, and i learned over a lifetime how to use a blade correctly, so there is no danger me breaking one of them. Nice video!
The Mora Companion is a great knife and cost effective for the abuse we’re putting them through outdoors. I’ve not once had any issues batoning and then carving feather sticks with my mora companion. I also used a right angle sander and put a 90° angle on the spine to use it to strike my ferro rod and to shave tinder. I’m good with mine. Have a few in different packs for camping, hiking and foraging.
I have quite a few knives in my collection, but my go to in most situations is a mora 511 great cheap and so far not broken 1 in hard use ,but it does dull quick ,nothing a quick field strop won't fix ,always carry my eldris and condor terrasaur, just in case ,.God bless you and your family. Take care. Lee
Mora. Great knifes can’t go wrong. I have two companions and Bushcraft Black. As you said a great gift. Maybe they’ll use it to open a box instead of car keys, scissors or a rolling pin.. 😄
I living in Finland, and yes we called those ”Mora puukko”, which is like hoovers in England, it’s synonyme this kind of knives. We used those decades and Mora’s are affordable cheap and good quality. I think 1/4 of Finland’s homecides are made with Mora too😂
I bought the companion about 2 years ago for cutting meat. Very sharp. I can crush through fowl quickly. Very versatile for small cuts when the larger butcher is a tad big. Appreciate your video.
I cut the “belt loop” off of the sheaths and appendix carry my moras at an angle. Very comfortable and very secure. With a mora fixed blade and an opinel in your pocket when you don’t want to freak out potentially squeamish folks, you’ve got all you’ll ever need.
Like you said, it’s not a thrower, but it actually throws very well. I’ve thrown my companion a lot, and it sticks quite often especially with military half spin
There should be a place for a Scandi knife in Everybody's collection. At the moment I only own one, and its a Hultafors. The Design is Basic and the Price is Right. No Beef with it at all.
Mora is surprisingly a great combat blade, lightweight translates to speed, slim with a solid spine hood piercing, carry ability, solid grip, wicked edge and easy to touch up, inexpensive so it’s put to work. Most of the time we’re cutting rope, straps, tubes, etc. anyways. And if you have the stainless version don’t have to worry about humidity or shower time. 👌🏼
I’ve found mine quite hard to sharpen on my whetstone vs my kitchen knives. I’m not very experienced with sharpening but I’ve got a razor edge on my kitchen knives that will shave hair but I can’t get my mora very sharp
I have a lot of Mora knives and have never gotten a bad one yet. A couple have been a little dull, but stropping on a beavercraft sharpens them right up. Probably most consistent knife maker in the industry.
I just ordered my 6th companion. I used to be a hardcore benchmade guy (and I still love all my benchmades) but the value behind these knives is ridiculous. So useful for so many situations. Unless I need a fixed adamas or esee 5, I’m grabbing my mora companion. Just a great, great knife.
I have only owned 1 mora knife. I needed a deck knife in alaska and Alaska ship supply had one knife in stock . It was a mora . The handle was awful , but it did hold a edge decent . I gave the knife away at the end of the season and remembered to bring a better knife the next season .
I've heard the remarks about the garberg but I saw one for a good price and I purchased it and I really love the thing but I also have the Bushcraft black and I have some more companions and I really like all of them. Price doesn't mean as much with the Mora knives because they're all so well made
I think it runs in rattail format all the way down to the bottom of the handle and it is in here so tight I’ve seen some serious torture test on it. Joe X is one of them.
yes it is: excellent. it is not the strongest, it is not the most lightweight, it is not the cheapest or most expensive.. just simply an excellent outdoor utility knife indeed ❤
Companion heavy duty its just great , very thick blade great for Wood carving, batoning, etc. And skandi grind holds edge very long, and they are very cheap in europe 😃
I spent the extra on the mora companion heavy. Just that bit bigger handle and thicker blade. But I also got a few basic knifes to loan to people. If they loss or forget to return them
Love Moras. I end up reprofiling them😂😂. Love the fit and feel but I have no use for a scandi. Need something that’s just as good at food prep. Wish they made them in another profile.
Try the Kansbol, looks odd but works great, most versatile Mora out there. Lighter than the Garberg, tapered blade gives you enough Scandi for wood working, and the tip for food and game chores.
It's a camp knife... food prep, carving... i.e. detail tasks. While limited batoning can be done, its not really meant for that. A larger knife e.g. becker bk7 are knives that are meant for wood prep (chopping, batoning, etc).

Horse dung bro! Mora companion and hd version get the job done batoning or carving. Had a few robust trading moras , companion, companion had. They all baton ALOT of wood with no problems. You would have to be trying to destroy them to actually do any substantial damage. Moras are the best for the price and the steels are really nice.
Hey bro, I love my Mora. No need to declare horse dung because Im a fan 😂😂I own several now. I had just seen where a lot of people don’t prefer to baton with it. I know from working with mine a lot more that it can do anything i need . It’s my favorite work and carry around knife.
In my opinion mora we’re good when the prices are right. For example I bought a Garberg for $55. That was a excellent deal. The companion everywhere I see it the cost is around $25. That isn’t worth it in my opinion. The Hultafor Ok4 is the same price better knife in everyway. Really the BPS knives blow mora out of the water. Another knife I really like but haven’t tested enough the odenwolf . The only point with the odenwolf on the scandi the tip is very thin. But that can be fixed with a few sharpenings. Mora was a thing until they priced themselves out. Most people don’t realize how mora is automated. It has machines doing everything so it is just greed that drives their prices. I’m sure the fanboys will disagree, that’s fine my money is going elsewhere. I do love Swedish 80cv steel . You can get blanks and make your own knives for under $20.

You'd get zero noticeable difference in potential sharpness, and a relatively minor improvement in edge retention. The price might double, but then 10 bucks doubled is still only 20 bucks. And machines can grind bevels a lot better than a man can. I'd like to see them make large camp knives, too. Steel is not expensive. And the best steels aren't much more than cheaper steels. If they made a camp knife, I'd happily buy it. As long as the tang was more durable than in the smaller knives. But hey...you could break 20 of them and still not spend as much as you would on one hand-made one
