  • How To Install Flooring Against An Exterior Door
    We are going over a couple examples of how to install flooring up against an exterior door so if that is what you are looking for, you are in the right spot! We show you what it would take to install if you're using quarter round or what to do if quarter round just won't fit underneath the door. We also show the front door and the back door that way you can see both aspects of how the flooring is installed from the front to the back. Hope you enjoy!

    No end caps agianst those doors make your expansion gap and put some type of scribe or quarter round no floor transitions

    Nice talking and showing. Very friendly nice guy, just for that was worth watching. But there is a more tricky situation when one of the door jamb (the left or the right one) is abutted at the corner of a wall, then you do not have the ease of being able to slide the two pieces for the door transitions as you do in this video. But i already found the solution. You have to use a small block plane to nip the lip on the boards so that you can slide them into each other when they're laying flat and you have to cut one door jamb a tiny small amount higher so that you can lift the board on that side when putting it in place. You use wood glue were you removed the lip. Those are just hints it's difficult to explain with words.

    • @YOUFLOOR
      @YOUFLOOR  7 місяців тому

      I know exactly what you are talking about. And in some instances I have exactly had to do that. That for the most part, I try not to cut the lip off of anything and also when I do cut my lip. I cut it out a slight angle so that the board slips up on steel but still has a small lip to catch. And yes, I use wood glue. But for the most part, I try to use my angle tapper to get it in without having to cut that little lip off. Sometimes I get lucky sometimes I get lucky. Sometimes I don't. sounds like you found the solution man good job. Carry on sir

      @@YOUFLOOR Just to be sure i meant the lip not the tongue or groove those remain so there is still plenty of surface for the glue to stick to.

    • @YOUFLOOR
      @YOUFLOOR  7 місяців тому

      @ericastier1646 exactly. Joe lavender does this on " so that how you do that". He's got great tips as well.

    If you have to use the bullnose against the door how do you secure it?

      ua-cam.com/video/fI_X7foacNM/v-deo.html. Check this video out. Just skip through. I thought I had made a video installing a bull nose at the door, I guess I forgot. But the concept around the hearth is the same as at a door . Hope that helps. Thanks for the question

    If you are leaving a 1/4" gap, how does a 1/4" round cover the gap?

    • @YOUFLOOR
      @YOUFLOOR  9 місяців тому

      Here's how to look at it... If you had a Pole that was an inch and a 1/2 thick, and you split that Pole into 4 equal pieces, all the way down, you would take a whole round and turn it into 4 pieces of quarter round, but they would all be 3/4 of an inch by 3/4 of an inch That way, you can cover a quarter of an inch gap and still have a 1/2 inch overlapping your floor. Does that make sense? Hope that helps. Thanks for the question.

    I'm going to install a WP Laminate product that is 12mm with pad. Do I need to put an underlayment down first? Going over the top of a wood subfloor. Installing in Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen. I just can't find a good answer to this question. Subfloor is insulated from under the house with double layer vapor barrier over the ground.

    • @YOUFLOOR
      @YOUFLOOR  Рік тому +1

      With what you said, you should be fine to go straight on the subfloor. When the pad is attached, there is no need for additional underlayment. It can make the floor feel squishy. You definitely don't want to put plastic on a wood subfloor, as it can trap moisture. They make an underlayment to put under your lifeproof. It is a little more rigid and made to offer more noise dampening. We installed it on this job, and as you can see, it didn't make a lot of difference in sound. So, to be honest, I would go straight down on the subfloor. Hope that helps. Thanks for e the question ua-cam.com/video/yMSYKzsEbzA/v-deo.html

      www.homedepot.com/p/Lifeproof-Dual-Expansion-Joint-Spacer-for-Vinyl-Laminate-and-Hardwood-Flooring-30-Pack-LP2210/316310933 As far as installation kits goes I would just use the spacers a mallet and a scrap piece of flooring as a tapping Block. But I looked on amazon and if I did buy one , I really like this one. Especially the spacers. Good luck on your projectsamzn.to/3cQaXDP

    why don't you remove the baseboards when install the last row next to the door. just curios. I am new to this

    • @YOUFLOOR
      @YOUFLOOR  2 роки тому +1

      Never thought of that, But I feel like it would be more efficient time wise to leave it on. On another note. The reason we don't pull base board to begin with is really customer's preference. Thanks for the question

    So wanted to watch this and I'm sure it contains great information. But the jerky camera movements and out of focus shots are vertigo-inducing for me. (Also would prefer no music, though I could deal with that if the other two issues weren't present.)

      Thanks for the tip. Any tip how to improve camera work. I do everything myself. Hard to work and hold the camera. Figured the work would compensate for the fact that I'm not a professional camera man. I'm a professional floor installer. Tha ks for the comment
