Steve Cropper - "(Sittin') On the dock of the bay". Whole song is full of great and easy licks. Also - Jimi's solo on "Wind cries Mary" and every single Frampton's solo on live version of "Do you feel like we do".
When I watch Paul’s videos, I’m so taken aback by the arrangement, production quality and humour, that I don’t even notice how brilliant the content and playing is! Nobody else comes close to the level of your content Mr Davids.
Hi Paul. I'm a guitarist that, for over 10 years, tried his best to ignore music theory altogether (excluding the pentatonic scale) until a legendary guitar teacher decided to show me some tasty licks I knew and explain what made them special in the context of music theory. This video brought me back to those lessons because he did that exact Eagles riff to demonstrate a certain 'Pacific island voicing' and then played it over the Hotel California backing track. I wish I'd realized earlier, but this sort of theory is something every guitarist needs to know. Thank you for making this video.
You are one of the best musicians Paul, not only on youtube but in the world. I've learnt a whole lot about playing guitar just watching you're videos. You have a very calm and collected way of teaching alongside you're great personality and sense of music. I hope you see this comment and keep releasing videos. Much love from India
Playing in your style isn't easy for me. But, I've been dedicating myself to learning your songs your way. I then later play them with my own style. Doing it this way adds more to my arsenal. Ty P.D.!
I really like your channel and the way you teach/explain/play and so on. Having your videos to learn more about guitar and music is helping me vastly in my current thorny shithole of a life-situation. Thank you Paul, for existing.
It really impresses me how Stevie Ray licks were just different from the other ones... i mean, the style, playing the high notes in a different and more complex way. One of my favorite guitarists
So i was about to talk shit about how you put Eric Clapton as the guitarist for While My Guitar Gently Weeps but I decided to google it first and damn, I learned a thing today
I'm really glad a friend introduced me to your channel. You look smart, your guitar is nice and you play it well and your videos are really well edited. Thanks for the content! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you Paul.
All those various playing styles are great. And we who have been playing for thirty years. We are delighted with your way of approaching the guitar.Everyone is watching to make it play as fast as possible. While we like it to sound nice with a beautiful vibration in the tone of the guitar.Just keep it up. Greetings from Serbia
You should totally do a 10 extremely tasty John Mayer licks and maybe even include some live performances. Great material there and I can see that you and your audience are JM fans. I would freaking love that.
Your presenting, your editing, your teaching, skills and style are all amazing. BUT I'm not quite good enough to follow yet so I'll come back in 6 months where I can take it all in
I Sniped so many licks from this video Lol. This is one of the most beneficial videos I’ve came across. Great phrasing, great technique. You gained my subscription
Thank you for introducing me to Julian Lage, Paul! Those few seconds of hearing Nocturne was like hearing Lenny for the first time! I've just got myself a ticket to go see Julian in Germany next week because of this vid!! Thank you! p.s they really were some tasty licks.
Hey Paul, great video! Love your tutorials! What's the chances of us seeing some blues basics in a tutorial anytime soon? I'm a new player, and learning the blues is one of my top goals!
You've always given me a Duane Allman vibe but at 6:27, You really embodied him this time. The face, the licks, and the les paul, of course. Aha cheers m8. Much love from California
Tin Pan Alley has always been my favorite SRV song. It was the first song of his that I had ever heard and it continues to blow me away many years later.
Love how this guy looked up how to pronounce Vocabulary, yet his English pronunciations are probably better than mine and I am English haha Greats video dude
I’m pretty new to guitar (been about a year and 4 months) but I like it even more than piano which I have played 7 years. I just wanna say I love your channel and am often inspired by your amazing guitar skills and informational videos. I just generally love your videos and the subtle comedy, entertainment, and just the cool vibe you have in my opinion. It’s obvious you don’t just make guitar videos on UA-cam, everything you make is such high quality content, and it’s really entertaining to watch even when I am not playing guitar. You are awesome! :) best wishes from America
Hey Paul Davids! I want to improve my fingerpicking techniques, your videos has helped me a lot! But i am now looking for a fingerpicking book, do you have any favorite books that you can recommend? Keep up the great work :)
I like Paul David the way he teaches; he listen, analyze, and then explain, and gave you the application. Its really nice...oh thank God he never gave us a quiz. Just kidding. I like it. I will recommend to my guitar enthusiast kids.
I mean I'm British so I'm used to seeing celery on a dip platter, but fuck me, I'd rather chew on a marmite filled teabag. Otherwise awesome vid as usual.
What are your favorite licks? Drop 'em in the comments!
Any of the licks from Magnolia by JJ Cale are finger lickin good, great vid btw
Steve Cropper - "(Sittin') On the dock of the bay". Whole song is full of great and easy licks. Also - Jimi's solo on "Wind cries Mary" and every single Frampton's solo on live version of "Do you feel like we do".
"Bastille day" By Rush
Since I've Been Loving You - Led Zeppelin the third lick
I'm alright Neil Zaza
Hope it's there in the video
Nope not there
"Wanna learn guitar??? Wait! DON'T TOUCH THAT SKIP BUTT-"
Brah I skipped😂
*NOOOOOOO GOD PLEASE NOOOO*
omg I got that ad too. I skipped it anyway lol
It just makes me want to skip it even more. Great marketing strategy.
THIS IS GOING TO CHANGE EVERYTHING

Did you just say "tasty" and then eat some celery...?
You're really alienating your American audience.
hehe, it's actually quite nice and crunchy!
^^^ this is why he’s in shape
If he was American he'd eat bacon dripping in lard.
Celery is tasty af
I read this as ... Celery is tasty as feet
Just me or does he skip straight from #1 to #3?
u are right brother jon
It was probably cut out afterwards because of copyright reasons, the subtitles were not updated though :)
sagov9 hmmmm i suppose all these riffs could be "copyright reasoned" ?!?! no yes ?
@@caselli4354 Well yes, but not all bands are equally protecting their copyrights on youtube.
Yes, I had a lick from Hotel California. But the video was blocked worldwide because I played 2 seconds of the song, so need to cut it out :(
6:54 Wish You Were Here was the first song I ever learned on guitar, a literal day one for me, and I love it.

I love how Paul David making serious videos but makes it funny in very cool ways 😄
Celery is the genetic splicing of cabbage and dental floss. 🤢
It works well in soup.
Paul Davids I will hopefully never know. Great videos dude :)

Samrat Nandy 0 to 100 lmao
Tin Pan Alley was the reason that I bought a guitar when I was 14 years old. Thanks for the video. So Joyfull! Greetings from Athens/Greece.
Am i the only one who thinks that the intro from octopus garden is extremely tasty, not to say delicious?
Decadent actually
a handsome factoid to be sure
MGKA 1201 of course, it's octopussy
John Bell it is😂✌🏻
thay took an 'ók'' Ringo song and made it into a masterpiece... George was an animal

Nice to see some Julian Lage in this video, I've been pumping that Nocturne live in LA video for the past week. Absolutely beautiful.
ニック, Yes Julian and Jonathan Kreisberg are my two favorite picks if you're talking jazz.
I was about to comment something like that. Have you heard the original from Secret Garden?
This made me hungry, great video Paul.
Thanks!
Literally love The Thrill is Gone, my dad slaps the bass line while I play B.B King's lick's on top it sounds so good.

I wish more people do their research before saying smth like you did!
Always thought it was George harrison
OmG an F for all of you 😠
Anyone who’d ever heard another Beatles song would know that’s not George.
Yeah... George brought his mate Eric along and the rest of The Beatles behaved themselves for the day.
At 6.25 minutes, i thought this lick should be played on a gibson... 6.28 you have it, you are the best !
This should become a series!! I was always looking for such a video, just some simple and short licks to add to my arsenal, thanks so much!!
Possibly the best on youtube at making these videos
This is a great set of tasty licks; his playing, execution, and tone are impeccable.
Awesome video as always! I'm looking forward to the next video where you reveal what lick number 2 is 😋 Joking!

That was funny at the beginning of the video. Vocabulary. Dude your English is top notch. You’re doing great!
Waiting for free-range, GMO free, no-antibiotic licks. Thanks Paul.
By far the best guitar v-blog on the net. Thankful and still learning. Big thank you!
Damn man! You are so good!! I'm glad I found your channel!!!
these licks are made much more useful by the theory behind them and possible ways to use the ideas. really amazing video.
Was expecting some Carlos Santana but awesome video nonetheless!!
Man. I cant wait to get home for my days off to play my guitar. I cant get enough of the videos. Thanks.
I love you added "Nocturne" in there.
Great lesson and excellent choice of licks.
7:02 "whip whip" lol that was my favorite!
Paul David’s videos are so great
The opening riff to the Stone’s Can’t you hear me Knocking is the tastiest of all😎🤘🏻
Great lesson, learning these licks really jumpstarted a bunch of ideas.
A good way to instill healthy eating habits!
I was excited for this video. Then the celery crunch... Liked and subscribed. Celery is such a great snack and nearly as tasty as these licks.
Maravilhoso, simplesmente adoro a forma como ele mexe com essas músicas.
Very cool licks collection! Many thanks!
That little bit you played at 3:55 really reminds me of Hold Back the River.
Well, I think only those who would like to analyze the licks would get the most benefits from Davids' video!

George Harrison's lick in The Beatles' The End is so gorgeous i'm genuinely surprised it did not make it here

Something abt his voice makes this video so soothing and calm
Man I had the best laugh when you used to word vocabulary and then had the computer say it. I thought it was hilarious, maybe I’m just nuts.
Wow. Finally a teaching guitarist I can really understand. Thanks.
What about "The Lick?"
You know which one I'm talking about
I know exactly what lick you're talking about, but I used it already:

Negohtap duh nuh nuh nuh nuuuh nuh nuh?:)
Bas Kroon I'm talking about that jazzike too ;) Did you watch the beginning of the video I linked to?
Tin Pan Alley has always been my favorite SRV song. It was the first song of his that I had ever heard and it continues to blow me away many years later.
In my decent opinion Alice in Chains landed a masterpiece with the solo in "Low ceiling". I am still a beginner though.
I love your vids BTW.
Love how this guy looked up how to pronounce Vocabulary, yet his English pronunciations are probably better than mine and I am English haha Greats video dude
Love these videos, you really know how to get the guitar to always sound spot on!
The Valarie lick is so sick. Love a Hendrix style like 👌 thank you so much for this

Fun fact about Paul Davids.... he doesn’t know even one song from start to finish, only licks... and I love it
Alice In Chains - Man in the Box. The whole solo is tasty

Excellent job. Not your everyday licks. Very diverse and useful.

Your the best at quality guitar vids man!! Love it
I think SRV slides up and down really fast instead of hammering on and pulling off
Came here to say that :)
Yea the reason i go down to comments section just to see if someone noticed that. 😀
Paul, a really great player - chops for days
I like that you are not the shred guy that only can play fast. Btw are you veggie? Greetings from Argentina.
