Well it’s official. I suck. I thought I didn’t but I now realise I do. Thank Rob......seriously, for taking me out of my comfort zone rut and genuinely learning new exercises
i have naturally good coordination and never really realized I did until I posted a vid and people told me I had really good coordination
Don't worry bro you're better than me! I suck but don't care, love to play even if its horrible lol
I've been at a basic beginner plateau for two flippin' years. This was the most helpful video exercise I've come across to break through. It took me months and MONTHS (cuz I'm old), but I'm finally unlocking my limbs from safe & boring old habits and starting to explore the kit in ways I dreamt of. Don't give up on this excercise! -- especially if, like me, you feel your limb independence & coordination isn't improving and that you'll never get it. Trust in BdB.
In Beatdown We Trust
Me too ,
I’m getting back into it too and I can’t for the life of me get #2 to work for me. Number one and three were a one time and got it, but #2 IS LOCKING ME UP IN MY BRAIN AND I CANT SLOW IT DOWN ENOUGH TO GET.
I’m getting back into drumming and I’m 57 thanks for the helpful and encouraging comment
*HEY Y'ALL!...If your hand and foot coordination is in the toilet...I can GUARANTEE YOU that these simple exercises will get it in shape! Cool, practical and most importantly...MUSICAL. Cheggit out!* 🔥😎🥁#AdmitAndCommit
I never taught my left foot to keep time and now... I'm having serious problems doing exercise two and three. I just can't separate my two feet for some reason. ARGH !... More practice required.
Excellent exercise, lots of fun after the difficulties encountered at level 3. Thank's a lot!
Very good
I cant even do #2
I forgot to mention that my right hand still keeps wanting to follow my right foot but, that gives something to focus on .I remember my old hockey coach would all ways tell us to work extra hard on your weaknesses along with every thing else. My hands are real quick ,that's a plus .
I love the way you mastered the drums to play the music.
I struggled with transcribing the third pattern in my head so here it is if needed:
(1) e & (a) 2 e (&) a 3 (e) & a (4) e & a
You’re a life saver 😂
Yes thank you! Right hand and right foot were not playing nicely for me until I saw this written out.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!
I wish I knew what this means..I'm so very new.
I love how encouraging he is. Just like.. "It's just muscle memory, it can be fixed, anyone can do it, etc" Makes me feel way better, regardless if it's true or not. Great teacher.
It's such a smooth high when I struggle through nice and slow and then finally get to the point where my muscles take over for my brain!
THANKS RB
This is the Lesson I've been Dreaming of. Thank You.
This is where I draw the line ! I go no further until I master these 3 lessons... I've been away from my drums for a year because my job... I quit my job!!! Hello drums... Mr. BROWN your a great teacher and a blessing to the drum community! God bless brother!
A year and a half of self teaching to your videos and I can only say thank you for unlocking my limbs for percussion therapy. The feeling you get when you finally nail the 3rd pattern is euphoric, courtesy of Mr. Brown. Thank you sir
"Ain't no need for some PDFs"...love it.
my favourite line
I love your teaching videos.
You are meant for this!
Hi Rob, I have had such a difficult time with separating hands and feet and left and right over the years that at times i thought it may drive me crazy. I have to say that if I had met you way before now I would be a much better drummer. The way you explain things and the exercises you show are just fantastic. I feel like I have finally started to put some difficulties behind me thanks to your teaching abilities. Thank you so much !!
Blessings,
Brian
exercise 1: 7:06
exercise 2: 8:15
exercise 3: 9:25
This instructional is a true blessing☀
The most genuine drum learning channel without ads. You're an inspiration sir. Appreciate all the efforts 🙏
Truly thanks for everything that you do Rob! You're awesome bro, may God continue too bless you!💯🔥🔥
Thanks Rob - your exercises always point me in the right direction to address my drumming faults and frustrations!
This video is by far one of my favorites come back to it regularly cleans up my drumming everytime as well as sparking some creativity
DUDE. YOU'RE THE MAN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY
Needed this. 🙌🏽
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you for making me a better drummer! Congratulations for those text add-ons, they're on point 🤙🏻. Can't wait to try these out on the kit. All the best 🤜🏻🤛🏾
Man you know this video has helped me so much to break it down I consider myself intermediate but I just flunked so I'm back to beginner class but hey I'm still motivated to work this exercises out until I can push thru! Thank you Rob for your help🤗👍
Rob, thanks for the nudge!
Been playing drums for a while now.
But, I was lacking in my rudimentary skills. I took a few of your basic exercises and practiced my butt off.
It's amazing what you can achieve when you put your heart into it.
Thank you Sir!
Awesome lesson brother. You always have practical advice that's easy to follow. If you ever do any clinic's in Oregon I'll do what I can to get there. Thanx much
I like how you tied in the last video with this one. I feel better with the hands exercise. Thanks, Rob!!
This one is perfect for my coordination problem! Your content is so versatile and exactly what I’ve always needed to get out of my drummers block! Thank you🤘
Thanks, Rob! Excellent exercises for us newbies. You rock!
Thank you for you input to my desire to learn the drums, you’re a good teacher ✌️
Great lesson as always been having tough tines practicing as much as I should but I'll get there I hope. Thanks for what you do
These exercises are so inspiering. Keep it up! Best!
You are the only dude on UA-cam I feel comfortable taking rhythm advice from. You and Harry Miree
I been playing drums for 10 years without real knowledge of drums. I just bought my first kit. You are a life saver on retraining myself the right way. Thank you from Oklahoma.
same dude but for me i've been playing drums for 3 years now. I am always get so jealous with those "My [insert number] year of drumming progress" videos because they develop so fast and here i am 3 years of playing i don't know what i am doin lmao.
Hey Rob, great lesson, I've been playing for close to 40 yrs. now.
I still enjoy and learn from you almost every day.
Question: What mixer and DAW are you using?
This is awesome!! Can’t wait to try these out!! Thanks so much for posting!
Love your teaching style I get more out of your free videos then I've gotten in the past paying for lessons!..God Bless and keep well.
Thank you, glad I found you! This video has helped immensely!
I've been playing in the UK for over 20 years and taught by the late great Paul Brodie (BBC Big band)..Still learning and really enjoying these videos by Rob...highly recommend.
Hello
Thanks Rob!
Wow that's a great helpful video THANX ROB, GOD BLESS U!!!
man that is a great lesson!!! thank you rob
I STARTED PRACTICING THE RllR llRL ON THE SNARE (IM ABOUT TO BUY MY PRACTICE PAD) AND WHEN DID THE FIRST REPETITION, IT SONDED AWESOME. THANKS ROB I LOVE ALL YOUR LESSONS.
I thought I would never get the second and third beat, but once I got it down it changed the ability for me to pick up different beats. It also helped me to eye the hi hat and kick combinations and how to put them together to help play the beat smoothly. Thanks Rob.
Great info presented in a direct and unpretentious manner. As usual!
Thx you so much!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you Rob. I absolutely needed this video and the previous one of yours I watched tonight, playing with a click track.
HI ROB ! A BIG " THANK YOU " for your terrific Beginner Drum Lessons - I have watched them several times now and all the tricky stuff is broken down nicely by you and making it easier for me to follow. I can now get on my new E Drums and try it all out !
Thanks again Dude ! Keep these lessons coming please ! Best Regards - Eddie ( UK Beginner ).
Hey Bob,
Love your videos, will practice, practice, practice. Thanks bud.
Love this can’t wait to try it
Thank you for the video tutorial.
I am doing these exercises with my middle school Rock Ensemble drummers. They're getting it. THANK YOU!
Looping these patterns made a significant change in my playing in a short period of time! Thank you!
You make great vids. Very practical and detailed. Thanks!
I have just began watching your videos Rob. And I must commend you for your awesome teaching skills. You truly make it simple.Wish you all the best in this dedicated profession. God bless you bro. This is Nick from London ON 😊🥁❤️
Great lesson. Good camera split too. Thanks
Thank you rob! This works! I’ve been struggling with independence for years. Part time weekend drummer, I literally never though I would accomplish this. These techniques work! Thanks Rob
The thing I like so much about your videos is that you make me feel like I am right there with you sitting next to me helping me get better.
Rob, I’ve been a subscriber for a long time now and enjoy opening my email just to find another great video from you. You’ve helped me a lot over the years but I think in my opinion your wrong on not needing a pdf on some of your exercises; personally I need to look at the notes just to burn them into my head if that makes sense. I can watch some drummers play something great but find it hard to duplicate it if I don’t have the notes.
Thanks for all these videos! Very helpful😎
Super helpful. Thanks Rob!✌️
I've been learning a good lot from your videos. Thanks from Brazil!
Thanks Rob I love the way you break things down. Makes it so much easier to understand my playing has become so much better from watching your videos. :)
Thnx Robert!!
Excellent coordination using all 4 limbs plus gets the brain working with the body!
You know Rob,those exercises you give us for hands can work for the feet too. It takes time to work up doubles with the feet. I practice on the floor mostly, but when I get on the set, lots of things can happen. My high hat foot is busier now . Thanks for the great videos, love them.
Thank you so much for this video. Can't wait to get to work on my feet
It took me around 4-6 hours (around 2 hours per day. I'm not crazy, yet) to process the last one and understand when I was supposed to hit my cymbal 😆. Thanks for the lesson
This channel is what I needed. Subscribed
I am such a novice that I am embarrassed to say that I actually need to see #3 written out. Great video as always though and what a cool snare! Thanks Rob for all you do here.
i agree. I can't get this to register unless i see it on paper first.

Thanks dude, really well explained
Thanks so much! Exactly what I needed
killer lesson, thanks so much as always
I’m a visual learner so I was able to pick this up pretty quickly! Thank you!
Thanks!
Great video Rob. Nice explanation and demo. 👌🏼👍🏼
Excellent. Love your videos, and thank you!
As somebody who never systematically practiced drums, I love how exercise #2 completely kicks my ass!
Thanks again.
Nice lesson love your teaching method thanks bro god bless
Thanks Rob, it realy help
Thank you Sir. I'm just learning thru tutorial videos as I can't afford to go on music school. Appreciate it. I have to save money to buy my set soon :)
Just picked up some swag and a coffee mug & can't wait to get it! BTW, great tutorial, as always, brother! Keep 'em coming! They're helping me more than you know.
Thank you Rob for all the lessons. I'm actually a keyboardist who likes to play drums using special drumming presets in my keyboard so your lessons are surprisingly helpful even if I don't have a drumkit (if I adapt the circumstances to my keyboard accordingly that is). Playing like this has helped me develop my sense of rhythm immensily! It gives me hope to start real drumming someday. (if I commit to it eventually!)
Thank you! Couple of days and impossible becomes possible. Another cool exercise i figured out: paradidle on snare and ride, foots on hihat every second stroke, bass on 1, 4 and 6 stroke.
really cool exc!!
thank bob 😄
I really appreciate these videos. Wish I had some of you good instructors in my area. I will support you within your store
This is definitely gonna help a lot. Thanks!
Great laid back vid man. I'm going to my drums now!
This Guy..... Something else! The instructor I never had! Good stuff!
This is the first tutorial after buying my electronic drumset, the first 2 days kf practice i got 1 and 2, but 3 was too hard, then on the third day i got it from the go. Amazing stuff!
Loving your videos! Thank you!
You sure do lay it all down, Rob Brown. Mucho appreciato!
Yep.....My coordination does suck...... Thanks for all the info, ideas and especially for sharing all your experience. Can't say it enough.
Great exercises! Thanks !
Rob Brown your a great teacher!!!
Love this dood's videos. I'm pretty new so this is great.
