yeah. the packers were butchered in the media last year and frequently labeled as pretenders (which they are as thoroughly exposed during the two 49ers games). i'm a packers fan but i'm fine with retooling and establishing a new identity as it's obvious that this roster, as currently constructed, cannot hang with the rest of the big boys right now. if the front office wants to try a different approach in playing style then they should, after all the only goal is to win a super bowl, no points going second or just reaching the nfccg.
Just not matched well with 49ers, Packers were a fine 13-3 sorry you need to exaggerate to get attention. Love is the prototype new age quarterback, we will see how good he turns out to be.
Brody Roberts all I’m saying is that, the packers organization believe in Jordan Love. They wanted him to be the future of their franchise, they wanted Aaron the be the future of their franchise. Personally I believe that Love is the number three quarter back for this draft, but obviously he was drafted fourth.
Dale Jarrett it’s not about the players, I don’t think that at all. I’m saying this pick isn’t comparable to Rodgers as he was a consensus number 1 overall pick before he fell. Love was a fringe 1st round player.
@@austins7376 According to an article titled "From the archives: Brett Favre's legacy of indecision", here is the timeline prior to Aaron Rodgers being drafted in the 2005 NFL Draft . January 2003: Favre squashes retirement rumors by saying, "I have every intention of coming back." January 2004: Packers teammates say they expect Favre to return despite interception in OT of a playoff loss. Favre does, indeed, return. January 2005: After a playoff loss to the Vikings, Favre tells the Packers he needs time to ponder his future. In March, he commits to playing in 2005. In August, when asked for general thoughts on retirement, Favre says, "I'm in no hurry for that to come. I won't play anywhere else." So, there had been rumors for the prior 3 years that Favre was considering retirement, including months before Rodgers being drafted where Favre was pondering his future.
@@DaBoyChinWonder So i my issue with that is actually the beat writers at the time. I know this is a whole different topic but there were 2 beat writers who hated Favre and constantly asked Favre questions that where "tough. " They were just annoying. i don't remember what there names where but one of them worked for the Star Tribune. So my point is 2 writers do not make up the public opinion.
Favre pushed himself out by threatening to retire time and again. When he actually did retire, the Packers moved on. He pulled a retirement stunt that didn't go the way he wanted.
The difference between Rodgers in 05 and Love now is that ARod was in the conversation as the #1 pick and was seen as a day one starter. Love is seen as a high upside guy who may never pan out
Also Favre had been considering retirement, and there were rumors of it, also they got bounced badly in the wild card instead of the championship game, also QBs weren’t expected to play to 40 at the time. I mean honestly there are a ton of differences. I normally agree with his takes but this one is just bad lol
if people would actually watch tape and not let other people for their opinions than they would like love a lot more than they do, Love is a better player right now than Tua and Herbert, especially Herbert.
@@VaCRAYtion seattle has one major issue and they refuse to address it. thier oline is absolute trash. the fact seattle beat the rams last year is just proof that wilson is a magician. metcalf is impressive but wlson has made almost every wr work somehow.
Wow, leave it to a saints fan to be sooo mature. I seem to recall the saints paying players to hurt Vikings players in a NFC championship game... and yet you're the one wishing this... really shows some high quality self awareness buddy...
True but the 2005 draft class was weak. Rodgers was too raw to start immediately and clearly went to the best situation possible for him. If he had gone to SF at #1, he easily could have been a bust. All things are not even. Smith had a new OC every year and started well before he was ready. Rodgers sat behind a HOF for 3 years (btw, Favre was a better mentor than he gets credit for). Do you really believe ARod is ARod if he goes through what Alex Smith went through?? Hell, the fact that Smith salveged his career is actually quite impressive. Anyway, in other draft classes, Smith, ARod and Jason Campbell are all fringe 1sts. Love, like a rookie ARod, needs a lot of polish, but I do believe he could turn into the best of this class. He is certainly in the best situation he could ask for.
When the packers drafted Rodgers, he was vying to be the first overall pick. He slid all the way down to 24. Love is a kid who threw 17 INTs playing in the the mountain West conference and they had to trade up for him. These are not the same. This is not history repeating itself. This is a team hoping that something that worked once in the past will work again. If the Packers dont make this pick, he probably slides to mid to late 2nd round. Its an idiotic pick. If this was Tua that slid to 26, id be willing to accept that. But not some project QB that became nationally known because he has a big arm. Rodgers reiterated his desire to play out his career in GB, and his desire to play beyond 40. We now have QBs make runs at championships in their 40s, which wasn't a thing when Favre was around. Rather than getting him a bona fide weapon to bridge the gap to the likes of the 9ers and such, they essentially reached for a complete wildcard kid, pissed of their current starter, and haven't actually become a better team for it. I dont blame Rodgers for resenting this franchise now. He deserves better for what he has done on the field.
@@MegaTechpc ok fuck the love pick, yeah he had a new coaching staff, new coordinator, 9 new starters...compared to 32 TDS 6 int year before, kid might be great, I get that. So let's concentrate on the other picks you take a 3rd/4th RB in the 2nd, a developmental TE/H back, who had an "undrafted" rating..in the 3rd 94th overall!!! Then you take a LB, who missed half the season last year, and was labeled as a "special teamer/developmental backup" coming into the league. Not to mention the lineman from Indiana they selected tore his ACL in December, no 2020 for him....so not only no WR, but no DT and no OT??? So while everyone keeps focusing on the Love pick, and asking why are GB fans so mad???? I feel the majority of fans aren't upset with the actual picks, it's where they were selected!!!! You could have got Dillon and deguara wayyyy later, and not having that 4th rounder really hurt, as they went 3 1/2 hours without picking Saturday. So while the Gutekunst/Lafleur defenders can try to be positive, and optimistic about this draft all they want, those same folks can't tell me that we are a better team now then we were Thursday afternoon last week.
I’m not defending anything other than the Love pick. Point being that they still had some decent picks to make after the first round, thus negating the ridiculous argument that the Love pick alone denied Aaron Rodgers from getting any help from this draft. It was a very deep draft and they still could’ve gotten several good players. Also, it will be interesting to see what these crying Packers fans might say in 3 years or so if Rodgers falls off a cliff and Love steps in to take y’all to a SB...
@@MegaTechpc well see I don't agree with that notion either that the love pick didn't give Rodgers any help. What I'm trying to say, and what I think alot of other fans are saying is why trade up? Why get rid of a 4th rounder?? Why not take a couple of WR to grow with Love? Also what are you gonna pay him once his rookie deal is up? Ya know being the fact he probably won't be able to prove himself till it's time for his next contract. Myself, I'm not to upset with the Love pick, dude does have talent for sure, but like I said it's the other ones I'm more fired up about. Then to hear Gutekunst give that BS excuse of "well it's how the board fell" 😂.. I guess to all the fans it feels like they've given up on the Rodgers era. I think alot of people are thinking GB was 13-3 last year, why don't you try to add to that roster and compete for a title?? It just seems like the first 3 rounds were a complete, and utter reachhhhh for the "future". But hey maybe all first 3 picks will be Hall of Famers, and I'll sound like a complete idiot 😂, I'd be cool with that.
Janny890 I was saying because the patriots set an example to the rest of the league by not putting an emphasis on wrs and rbs so the rest of the best organizations don’t tend to draft help for the quarterbacks with premium picks
You can't compare Love to Rodgers as prospects. Rodgers was arguebly the best QB that draft. You can't compare Alex Smith the game manager to Rodgers. Rodgers just had a "down year" according to his standards. 4,000+ yards and 4 ints last season. This was a terrible pick one season from making the NFC championship. Get Rodgers help. Get hin ELITE offensive talent to win now. Make some better points besides Love being a great talent and can contort his body smh.....btw im a 49ers fan!!!
I think people misunderstand that different teams value the draft differently then other teams and what they value. Packers clearly value long term more then winning now for the draft and use FA as a "win now" option
@@nolanjohnson2221 Doesnt matter how good your QB is when the rest of the team sucks. A Rod and Favre only got one ring a piece and both of them are legends.
@@nolanjohnson2221 Salty? I have nothing against Love. Jimmy has nothing to do with this lol. Rodgers isnt close to being done. No QB in this draft is currently better then him. All im saying is, bad pick. Get the Elite qb some weapons because the team is built to compete now. Love will do the team no good sitting in bench the next couple of years.
Big Ole Nate when it comes to Green Bay ask yourself this, if they picked any other player like a LB or whatever, are they gonna win the super bowl? I don’t think so I have the saints, 49ers, Tampa bay are all better than Green Bay and the Vikings and bears aren’t gonna make it easy on them. I doubt Rodgers is gonna get another chip so they’re playing the long game
You can’t just act like the pick will make Jordan Love to a HoF QB sure people have doubted similar picks and been wrong but not every prospect that looks good and has good potential pans out. the point is it’s not super often that a window like this happens and it doesn’t help to wait for the window to widen
As a Packer fan, I'm getting annoyed by everyone who thinks they're qualified to be GMs and know better than Gute, who, by the way, put together a hell of a defense in 1 off-season
You guys have two slot receivers and got rid of Diggs, your team is worse than last year. Right now the packers are better than last year with Funchess
@@Rittercards He's not, but what's worse is that he's so wrong... Rodgers was best prospect in that draft and projected to go no1 but fell during that draft night, Love was like 5th qb...
I'm a Packers fan, and personally, I don't hate this move. Jordan Love isn't replacing Rodgers anytime soon and maybe with 2-3 years to develop he could be really good. That being said, I'd still try to capitalize on my championship window now, and draft somebody who can help me do that immediately. Aaron Rodgers has fallen off a little, but he's still great, and even if it means having to rebuild when he's done (which you can do quickly, just look at the 49ers), I'd take a shot at winning Super Bowls while I can.
@@spuh3460 I'm just not sure either of those guys will still be there so late in the second round. I guess they could move up again, but idk what that would cost
That is because it is a terrible pick. They have potential to contend for a championship and they basically say "screw it" for the coming several years with this pick
Andrew Olson ah yes, the injury history of playing all 16 games 6 of the last 8 years, including the last 2, and only missing more than 1 game twice in his entire career
Aaron Rodgers is 36. He has 4 years left on his contract. Tom Brady is still playing at around 42 I think. That means Aaron Rodgers who has had a better arm than Tom Brady all of their careers. Aaron has at least 6 more years. If only the head office would actually help him. His whole career they haven't drafted a skill player first round.
I'm pretty sure the main reason why Packers fan hate this pick is not because of the player but because the team TRADED UP to get him. If they stayed their draft position and got him, you will not see fans complaining.
I love your content, but you won´t convince me this was one of the poorest moves a team could make in this draft. First, this is not the same as Rodgers-Favre, that´s a gross misrepresentation of this. It has some similarities, but absolutely not the same. Rodgers was in the conversation for being the number one pick and best QB in the draft and he FELL, not traded up, to the 20s. Had Tua fallen to the 20s, and even the Packers trading up a couple spots for him you could have a better case, but Love? Nah. Second, repeating myself, they traded UP for a boom-or-bust prospect. I know you really like him, but this "he is a future franchise QB" as of April 24th, 2020 is nonsense, he is no Burrow, Lawrence, Tua, etc. He wasn't by any means the best QB prospect and even you accepted that. He can easily become Paxton Lynch or Deshone Kizer, other guys with "amazing upside" Third, again by your own words, he is not ready to be an NFL starter, so here we have a team with a realistic shot at the Superbowl and glaring needs all around the roster getting a player that best-case scenario will be sitting around for at least 2 years. And the Mahomes-Smith comparison doesn't fly either, Aaron Rodgers is not Alex Smith, nor the Packers are the Chiefs. Those Chiefs had a rock-solid roster and Alex... man, he always felt like the guy that will take you nowhere slowly. Aaron Rodgers is a proven HOF QB that will win games for you with everything against him. Fourth, Aaron Rodgers will absolutely be a jerk to the rookie and I completely understand him. Love didn't do anything wrong, but he embodies the team management basically flipping Rodgers up and saying "screw you, you are an old man". After a year with zero drama, with him being a happy camper and saying the right thing all around the year he is rewarded with a backstab. Fifth, this one is kind of meaningless, but since you mentioned it, Jordan Love won´t be a reliable backup... you yourself said it at least thrice, so the "what has happened when Rodgers got injured" has little to nothing to do with this. And every team in the NFL is ready to go to the dumpster if their QB gets injured, even more the Packers that heavily trust on Rodgers bailing them out when sh*t hits the fan. And to end my point, if 25 years from now Jordan Love is receiving a golden jacket in Canton that would still be a hindsight heavy analysis, the team needs help at WR, LB and TE TODAY.
Хорхе Гарсия No matter how you look at it, this does resemble the Rodgers-Farve. Rodgers is the second best QB in the league but besides this past year, I know a lot of packer fans that wanted to get a new qb. You know why? Because before this season Rodgers was literally injured for nearly 3 years. He’s kind of dramatic, he can be inconsistent, and a lot of teams and people didn’t take him serious this past few season. You know why, because teams and qbs that Rodger should of beat he didn’t. You could say it was the defense or other things. But there’s teams/ qbs this past season(ie vikings/kurk cousins) who did better against better teams(ie niners) that Rodgers didn’t do so well against. Plus he literally has 4 more years till his contract is over and who knows if he can finished those years so what intelligent person wouldn’t pick a great prospect.
@@javierg6878 Jordan Love wasn't a top QB prospect, he didn't fell to them, he is in no way, shape or form ready to be a starter so your Aaron Rodgers "gets injured" is barely a valid point. If I didn't know better I would think you didn't read my comment entirely. The people who "didn't take him seriously these past few seasons" I´m going to guess were the same that were pooping their pants when he came back to years ago with the Packers having a slim chance to squeeze to the playoffs. He didn't do it, but the fact that the Vikings and Bears squeezed their buttholes at that possibility tells you everything about your "didn't took them seriously". He is a prick, but you will find few players better at the position than him. Tying that to your argument about Rodgers character: absolutely fair... if this past year was literally the best season in that regard of the past, what? Half decade? He was a happy camper all year long and said and did "the right thing" almost without fail. The reward for that, if we want to be dramatic, is a knife to the back And the shoulda, woulda, coulda argument is too subjective to be taken seriously. He beat Seattle, a very good team, and lost to the worst matchup for his own team. "The Vikings looked better" is barely an argument. Do you think the Vikings would have beaten Green Bay? Also, he went 13-3.... he beat a lot of people this year. As a conclusion, I have to say that, again, it looks like you didn't read my entire comment
@@bolbyballinger They had one of each 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. The rest are a bunch of 5ths, 6ths, and 7ths, also known as "shots in the dark", even the 4th can be considered that. They wasted, I mean, ejem, "used" half of their top picks in taking a player that won't help them in at least 2 years if everything goes as planned. Not cool
Хорхе Гарсия I read your comment but I don’t think you get mine. What I’m saying is that this is exactly like the Rodger-Farve situation which you stated isn’t any similar. Where GB gets a new qb to get comfortable with the current team in case something happens. I didn’t say he was the top prospect but he isn’t a bad one either. Rodgers will get what he wants, which is playing for the next few years. But as a franchise, GB is trying to find the next franchise/ SB qb to take over for Rodgers. Which they did with Farve and we know how that turned out and their going to do it with Rodgers. And even if Rodgers ends up being a dick to him, which I think he won’t because he literally said in interviews that Farve was a dick to him and he didn’t like that, it doesn’t really affect the GB chances on getting to the playoffs again this year. GB literally is built on having low drafted players/ mediocre players who seemed bad at first be extremely good.
I’m a packers fan and I’ve wanted this pick so badly I actually WANTED this pick the only thing packers fan SHOULD be mad at is we drafted a running back in the 2nd round. I know Jordan love is a good Qb and honestly last year we drafted Rashan Gary in the first round we didn’t need him and he didn’t have a lot of impact and personally Jordan love will probably become our franchise Qb and we needed a backup Qb and we traded up because we really liked him and I’m sure other teams like the pats would want him as well and maybe thought about getting him. I understand People are mad about wasting Aaron’s time but you have to understand he is regressing and honestly their has been rumors for years of him retiring if he gets 1 more big injury this year number 1 now we have a backup qb with potential Aaron will probably wanna help him more and the season isn’t over number 2 he will honestly retire and I wouldn’t be sad about it I’m not a Aaron Rodgers fan I’m a packers fan . I’m not saying Aaron Rodgers wasn’t good and isn’t good I’m just saying Aaron isn’t playing till he is 50
The difference is Farve was talking about retiring whereas Aaron wants to keep playing. Best case scenario is Love plays in two years as Rodgers still has 4 years on his contract.
Same. After watching some film on all the QBs taken in the first round, I think I like Jordan Love the most. He's raw, but you can see really great things there. Then there's the fact that this draft is pretty damn deep for WR and LB. We can find a WR in the second round and a LB in the third round, or vice versa, easily. Did people forget that the NFL draft has 7 rounds or something?
Kongman exactly so why move up to get a future hope when you can get a skill position to help them out now. Like they were on their way to a Super Bowl last year
Ik it’s not who most people wanted but going into the draft I was saying I hope the packers draft Jordan love as a packers fan. I was so excited when they drafted him then checked my phone and saw everyone angry.
Zac, Jordan Love is an amazing prospect true, couldn’t they have gotten him in the second round though and in the first round draft a lineman or receiver? Great videos man keep up the good work.
They were lucky enough that the Saints didn't pick him up. There's no chance the Titans would have let him get by either. Then you get to the second round and have to wait for him to get back to the bottom, which would somehow involve the Colts also passing up on him an then the Titans passing him up a second time. I don't know if the Steelers have their second this year, but if so they'd be all but guaranteed to pull that trigger. Also, the Patriots.
The Packers needed another receiver and some serious help in run defense. My Niners beat them by just handing the ball off the entire game and made it look easy.
I really think that in two years when Aaron is 37. You'll be happy you drafted this guy. Would I have drafted Love, in the 1st? No I would've drafted Jake Fromm in the 4th. But Love will work out. You guys have your next QB. It's the GMs job to improve the roster. And the Packers did just that, it's just going to be for the future
Remember the past: people were shocked on draft night when Aaron Rodgers dropped. Everyone expected Love to be there. Not the same. If it was Tua, then the move makes sense. Right now, the Packers are buying the whole "he's like Patrick Mahomes" thing. Belichick doesn't think so.
@@ismaelreyes8244 yeah, different situation. They don't have a starting QB right now. At that point they had a future Hall of Famer and a backup that they would have to franchise tag to keep. They had to move on from one of them.
Well done Zac! I watched the Draft last night, and one of the big reasons was to see where Jordan Love was going to go, a lot of that being based on your videos. When Green Bay took him, all I could think of was your analysis of him, and I looked forward to your reaction today. I think you are spot-on! I am old enough to remember when McNabb was drafted and booed by Philly fans who lacked vision and foresight. I think it comes down to most fans want instant gratification, and that’s not what the Draft is about.
I was originally mad about this pick but after relaxing and thinking I’m actually glad about this pick. Guy can develop and the players up for grabs besides Patrick Queen were gonna be backups anyway
Patrick queen was a backup at LSU before Michael Divinity failed his drug screen. He wasn’t even the 3rd best player on our defense.. queen is gonna be backup, this’ll turn out to be a good move for the pack loves got the best arm talent behind tua
If Love ever plays for the Packers, that will mean that Rogers is playing for another team. Love's entire rookie contact will be nearly over before Rogers' current contract is up, and Rogers could easily play pretty deep into his 40's with current training techniques and rules for protecting quarterbacks. I can't see a way this pick works out.
People here saying "well Rodgers was in consideration for the top pick, Love wasn't" don't remember that neither he nor Smith were considered elite prospects. The only reason they were projected the top pick was because there weren't any other QB's worth drafting in the 1st round and SF badly needed a QB.
My only problem is Rodgers still has 4 years left on his contract. Jordan Love rookie contract is 4 years as well. We are not using that rookie contract for team building, the 5th year option is there, but it is only a year. Unless we trade Rodgers, like the Chiefs did with Alex Smith, which is something I do not want to think about.
SuperHorseSense if you have a hole, why wouldn’t you focus on that first? What kind of logic is that? Jordan love isn’t going to be the last quarterback in the draft. Aaron Rodgers still has a long time left in Green Bay. Making this move in the first round is stupid.
@@lilcigga2537 It doesn't matter if Love wasn't the last quarterback available. If they feel he is a very special talent that only comes around every few years or longer, then they were absolutely right to pull the trigger on him when they had the opportunity.
SuperHorseSense if a team didn’t have an Aaron Rodgers for another 4+ years, you’d be right. But the packers do. A QB was the last thing the packers needed. Not only that, they traded up to get him. And wasted a first round pick for them. It’s terrible team management
The Jordan Love pick didnt bother me the reaches at RB and TE on the 2nd day pissed me off. I defended their day 1 selection post day 1, but after day 2 I was livid because we did not address areas of need with our next 2 picks and we reached. We especially reached on that TE. Had we drafted a WR, ILB, CB, or OT in the 3rd round I'd probably feel ok, but now I feel like they used the 1st 3 rounds to take hopeful future contributors and add depth when we needed starters at other positions. That's why I'm pissed, because we addressed nothing of need this year as if those areas of need will magically work themselves out. But your perspective regarding Jordan Love is how I feel about him as well. Lots of talent, but needs to sit and learn. Hopefully he is the QB of the future for us. I know Rodgers says he wants to play into his 40s but he is injury prone.
i love hearing other people talk highly about Tom Grossi. I'm a diehard Vikings fan but I love that guy. He's so funny and smart and I'm glad to know 2 of my favorite sports channels are such good friends
So I was looking at the film of Jordan Love and commented on another video how he looks a lot like Cal Arod. Now he gets drafted by the packers and the packers fans are furious. I guess the packers fans forgot how teams win Super Bowls in this league. YOU NEED A QB ON A ROOKIE DEAL. Other than having the best Coach QB combination in the history of football you can’t win in this league without talent. Let’s keep in mind that Brady was not making max contract money at QB for years to facilitate winning as well. So to the packers fans ready to attack the gm for this move they must understand what is going on here because if executed correctly their competitive window can expand from 2 years to 6 or more depending on how this shakes out. The next 3 years even with the cap going up Rodgers’s cap hit will be 21 mill this year, 36 next year, 39 the year after and then the final year of the deal will be 28 which would be the first opportunity to move off the contract. Those cap hits are Enormous so after the 2022 season if Rodgers is looking for a new deal it will capsize whatever is left of their roster.
Remember when Rodgers broke his collar bone... twice?? And we didn’t have an acceptable backup. Insurance for the future brother. Sure it hurts we traded up, but it’s all about sustained success people
7:17 The Chiefs fanbase wasn't furious when Mahomes was drafted. We were so blown away that KC had drafted a QB in the 1st round that most of us took a week to process the pick. Some people preferred Watson over Mahomes, but I think most of us were well aware that Alex Smith wasn't good enough to get us to the Super Bowl. Chiefs fans have constantly been fed QB leftovers (mostly from SF) and we were cautiously optimistic about finally having our own guy.
This is what I said before they picked him. I'm just old enough to remember watching bad teams year in and out. It sucks and I was so glad to see this pick.
We are going to look at this pick a few years from now and we are gonna say that the Packers did good investing in their future... Jordan Love is THAT DUDE! He's raw but he will develop under Aaron Rodgers, and his upside is higher than Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert.
Chiefs and Mahomes comparison is not good. Alex smith was not good enough and we all knew that. We were upset because they took Mahomes over Watson. I think they made the right choice but we all knew Alex smith was not the long term solution. He could not get us over the jump even with a great defense.
You also gotta realize the Packers have had 2 starting qbs in the last 30 years so we get attached to them ....people are just sad right now that the end is in sight for Aaron Rodgers
When someone’s argument is arm talent u know you’re screwed. Jordan Love doesn’t not equal Patrick Mahomes. Rodgers isn’t Alex Smith and and just bc love profiles like Mahomes doesn’t mean he will be...... Mahomes was genuinely a better prospect that got better every year of his career at Texas tech. He never threw 17 picks in a 12 game season.
The point is that he is one of the only dudes in the planet that can throw on Mahomes level, and with Aaron Rodgers slotted to be his mentor he should become quite the player.
Waiting for trade request and bust Jordan love because he gonna realize just like Aaron he will have to carry the team for the next decade with no help
@@i-pxseidon2998 This is the third off-season from the new Packers management. So far they have built a good defense with their picks and free agent moves.
We are all just sad because we can actually see the end of Aaron Rodgers in sight ...it has been an amazing ride the last 15 years and hopefully another 3 years left and we can get him the second super bowl he deserves
Okay. It's 5 years later. Jordan Love's rookie contract is up and hes still slated to be backup to Rodgers who just signed a new contract to play in GB for 4 more years. Now Love is shopping around to try and find a starting job somewhere that isn't GB.
I agree completely and it is refreshing to hear someone else say it. The packers believe that their receivers will step up, with many of them in their third year in the league, not to mention the additions of Funchess and Begelton. The packers also believe their defensive issues in the nfc championship can be fixed schematically, or with more experience in the system. We will find out if they are right. This is a clear shift in philosophy drafting a bruiser rb and strong interior lineman. I see this draft as the packers drafting from a position of power where they can pick where they are going in the future rather than forcing themselves to bankrupt their future to win now. Gutenkunst has impressed me with his talent evaluation so far for the most part. To the angry hoard: give the man the benefit of the doubt and find yourself some perspective.
Question tho.... if love is gonna wait 3 years..... won’t that mean by the time he’s ready he will already need a high salary which will automatically restrict how many assets the packers can keep? Unlike mahommes who isn’t really paid much yet !
Thank you Zac, Packers fans need to chill. We won't be complaining when we're still competing for championships in five years with Love while the Saints and Bucs are lost after their old QBs are retired.
Anyone who thinks that all we needed was a rookie WR to help us win the Super Bowl within the next 2-3 years has no clue about how bad this team truly is. We severely outperformed our talent last year and It didn’t matter who we drafted, they weren’t going to help us win before Rodgers has emptied the tank.
Wouldn't it be poetic if Jordan Love knocked that cheese-wedge sized chip off Rogers' shoulder by doing to him what he did to Favre? When you live by the sword, you die by it too.
This video and a day off helped me become ok with what we did getting love... Accepting this I really wish we went different in round 2&3. Like those players but we could’ve got both later
This is so different. They traded up for Jordan love. Love was a projected 2nd rounder. Rodgers projected FIRST overall. Brett was in sharper decline and had threatens retirement multiple times before 05. Rodgers has done the opposite and said he wants to play into his 40’s. Completely different scenario and they reached for him and Love is not a special talent. The reason you are defending the pick is cause you like love this is is a sad video
The Green Bay Packers hit a home run with their Aaron Rodgers pick back then. I don't know about you but I definitely don't like the odds of hitting two home runs in a row. The pick worked out, but different from Love, Rodgers was a top talent at that time. Love, should've been a second round pick. He has the prospects but his football iq and his mental aspects are severely lacking for the NFL level. Also, Aaron Rodgers has 4 years left on his contract, meaning that unless he is traded, which will make Packers fans mad, or he retires, which is completely not up to the Packers organization, Jordan Love's rookie contract will go to waste. The rookie contract of a quarterback is one of the most valuable assets. It's how the Seahawks, Eagles, Chiefs, and Rams were able to build Super Bowl caliber rosters. Green Bay traded up in front of teams that were not a threat to this pick just to draft a quarterback lacking several NFL skills. Meanwhile they are throwing away the opportunity to have a serious impact player the next four years and instead are throwing away a valuable rookie contract. All of this is just to attempt to find the quarterback of the future, which with even everything going right is still a small chance of having success. It could work out, which would be great for them, but don't even half expect this to work out just because it worked out in a much better situation 15 years ago with a completely different organization in terms of personnel.
Different situation now the back in 2005 because Brett semi-retired nearly every year. Rodgers have 4 years left on his contract so it simply doesnt make sense that basically they'll sit a guy for his entire rookie contract
I don’t understand why packers fans are mad. As a Vikings fan I see we have to deal with Rodgers for the next couple years then Jordan love who is already a solid QB who will learn from a HOF QB for a few years. Love is gonna be a dog
I'll explain this thing to you, we weren't angry to the dude (I think he'll be a great future Qb) but we were angry to the fact that the front office was completely ignoring the major holes our roster still has (Wr, LB, DT, OT) and they're continuing that in day 2, that's even worse
I feel like one of the only packers fans like happy ab this pick we need to plan for life after Aaron and I think Jordan love will be good if he sits behind Aaron
A couple of things: 1. This packers team was much closer to the superbowl than the packers team that drafted Favre. I get going for an heir apparent, but the team was seemingly a couple of pieces away from a superbowl and to ignore that is difficult for the fan base. 2. Alex Smith is a reasonably serviceable QB, but he's not a superbowl winning quarterback, so even though that team made the playoffs getting Maholmes was addressing a need. 3. If Jordan love is the type of prospect you think he is (I will have to watch your film analysis) this is obviously a great pick and worth the first and fourth rounder, with the caveat that the guy can actually reach all that potential. It's a risky pick because he's definitely a prospect with high upside, but was inconsistent in college and has a low floor.
Haha, I remember a little less than a year ago how you said the same to the Raiders fans: relax, Antonio Brown will work just fine in Oakland ;) "Don't forget the past. Please, learn from the past!" - to quote someone ;)
I like how the narrative changed from “worst 13-3 team ever” to “they are a rookie WR away from the Super Bowl”
The AJ Hat 😂😂😂😂
yeah. the packers were butchered in the media last year and frequently labeled as pretenders (which they are as thoroughly exposed during the two 49ers games). i'm a packers fan but i'm fine with retooling and establishing a new identity as it's obvious that this roster, as currently constructed, cannot hang with the rest of the big boys right now. if the front office wants to try a different approach in playing style then they should, after all the only goal is to win a super bowl, no points going second or just reaching the nfccg.
They ARE a rookie WR away, and they found him in THE 8TH ROUND.
Just not matched well with 49ers, Packers were a fine 13-3 sorry you need to exaggerate to get attention. Love is the prototype new age quarterback, we will see how good he turns out to be.
@@Apoc414 the packers need a punt returner far more than a rookie WR.
Rodgers was expected to be the number 1 overall pick... i like Love, but totally different situation.
Not really
Ethan so you don’t see any difference if say Jordan burrows dropped to us vs Jordan Love
Brody Roberts all I’m saying is that, the packers organization believe in Jordan Love. They wanted him to be the future of their franchise, they wanted Aaron the be the future of their franchise. Personally I believe that Love is the number three quarter back for this draft, but obviously he was drafted fourth.
Dale Jarrett that’s like saying if we had Jake Fromm as the top QB on our board and took him at 26, it was similar to the Rodgers pick.
Dale Jarrett it’s not about the players, I don’t think that at all. I’m saying this pick isn’t comparable to Rodgers as he was a consensus number 1 overall pick before he fell. Love was a fringe 1st round player.
The difference is that Rodgers has 4 years left on his deal, while Farve was on his way out
This is not true. Everyone thought Favre would play forever. His 1st retirement was a total shock
@@austins7376 According to an article titled "From the archives: Brett Favre's legacy of indecision", here is the timeline prior to Aaron Rodgers being drafted in the 2005 NFL Draft .
January 2003: Favre squashes retirement rumors by saying, "I have every intention of coming back."
January 2004: Packers teammates say they expect Favre to return despite interception in OT of a playoff loss.
I won't play anywhere else."
So, there had been rumors for the prior 3 years that Favre was considering retirement, including months before Rodgers being drafted where Favre was pondering his future.
Also aaron was supposed to go number 1 and love wasnt but im not to made but its not a good comparison

You can’t compare the favre situation with love. Love is a fringe first round Rodgers was thought to go number one and he fell.
Love is an inherently better prospect than Herbert but okay . . .
Love has incredible potential, I don’t know why y’all shouldn’t be happy. He literally looks like mahomes.
The sky’s the limit for the kid, he could be the best qb in the nfl if it all goes right
@@davidminor4213 who are u responding too?
Wanna give me Love’s stats from 2018? You know, back before the entire team was dismantled?

The Jordan Love pick is fine. It's the rest of the draft picks that have the Packers freaking out.
You can’t just act like the pick will make Jordan Love to a HoF QB sure people have doubted similar picks and been wrong but not every prospect that looks good and has good potential pans out. the point is it’s not super often that a window like this happens and it doesn’t help to wait for the window to widen

Rodgers Injury History
Andrew Olson ah yes, the injury history of playing all 16 games 6 of the last 8 years, including the last 2, and only missing more than 1 game twice in his entire career
Aaron Rodgers is 36. He has 4 years left on his contract. Tom Brady is still playing at around 42 I think. That means Aaron Rodgers who has had a better arm than Tom Brady all of their careers. Aaron has at least 6 more years. If only the head office would actually help him. His whole career they haven't drafted a skill player first round.
Pete DuVall that’s not how it works. Brady gets hit much less than the average NFL QB, that’s why he’s still upright and playing.
I'm pretty sure the main reason why Packers fan hate this pick is not because of the player but because the team TRADED UP to get him. If they stayed their draft position and got him, you will not see fans complaining.
As a packer fan, I love this pick
Jersey Mike’s u were 1 game away from the superbowl with obvious skill player needs... pretty dumb move tbh

Jersey Mike’s no you don’t
Im a packers fan and while it hurts a little if love turns out to be a boom then we will look back and talk about how great of a move this was.
You wanna talk about it?
He can easily become Paxton Lynch or Deshone Kizer, other guys with "amazing upside"
Third, again by your own words, he is not ready to be an NFL starter, so here we have a team with a realistic shot at the Superbowl and glaring needs all around the roster getting a player that best-case scenario will be sitting around for at least 2 years.
Хорхе Гарсия
No matter how you look at it, this does resemble the Rodgers-Farve.
Well, fortunately the second and third rounds are today so you can get the WR, LB, and TE you need at the exact time you said you needed them.
The reward for that, if we want to be dramatic, is a knife to the back
And the shoulda, woulda, coulda argument is too subjective to be taken seriously.
@@bolbyballinger
They had one of each 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. The rest are a bunch of 5ths, 6ths, and 7ths, also known as "shots in the dark", even the 4th can be considered that. They wasted, I mean, ejem, "used" half of their top picks in taking a player that won't help them in at least 2 years if everything goes as planned.

Хорхе Гарсия
I read your comment but I don’t think you get mine.
I'm a packers fan, and I love this pick.
E/N K same people don’t realize how many receivers there are in this draft
Like they were on their way to a Super Bowl last year
Finally a level headed analysis.
Adhal Betancur wouldn’t have fallen to them in the second
They could have risked that he would fall to them, but there were rumors the Colts were going to trade up and draft him.
There were a lot of rumors that the colts were gonna move up trying to get love so they prob jumped the gun so the colts didn’t get him
And then he compares him to the Alex Smith situation (?) completely different situation
Love everything you mentioned on this video, just so on point, congrats.

I'm a packers fan and i'll enjoy 15 more years of NFC north domination
Thank you for these words! Let's believe in the packers...we will see and I am very optimistic that this situation will turn in something special :)
blablabla jordan love its not rodgers and its not mahomes ......... yea 20 td and 17 int good , thats trash
I've been sharing your first Love video with my fellow Packers fans to calm them down. It has converted a few. #LoveTrain
I was originally mad about this pick but after relaxing and thinking I’m actually glad about this pick. Guy can develop and the players up for grabs besides Patrick Queen were gonna be backups anyway
I agree but I no Patrick queen would’ve started. We run a 3-4 so that means 2 MLBS
monkeyman3831 I don’t trust kirksey health wise I don’t know enough about Burks to see how he does
Patrick queen was a backup at LSU before Michael Divinity failed his drug screen.
11:56 A hof qb is a luxury and not someone who you’re ”stuck with”
I remember clearly how upset packer fans were when they drafted Aaron Rodgers. how ironic.
I just hope you don't delete this vid few years from now... #coldtake
😂😂😂
They haven’t drafted anyone to help Rodgers on offense his whole career there then you draft his predecessor lmao
Successor. They didn't just draft Favre.
Mark Shaw that’s in the 1st round.
u heard of davante adams? aaron jones?
*successor*
My only problem is Rodgers still has 4 years left on his contract. Jordan Love rookie contract is 4 years as well. We are not using that rookie contract for team building, the 5th year option is there, but it is only a year. Unless we trade Rodgers, like the Chiefs did with Alex Smith, which is something I do not want to think about.
Matt they will
Remember when the draft used to be about building your team for the future and not plugging immediate holes?
Give him a chance guys. He's got talent
My only problem with the pick is the blatant disrespect to Aaron who had AT LEAST 2 good years ahead of him
The Jordan Love pick didnt bother me the reaches at RB and TE on the 2nd day pissed me off.
As a Packers fan I LOVE the pick, pun intended
i love hearing other people talk highly about Tom Grossi.
Those cap hits are Enormous so after the 2022 season if Rodgers is looking for a new deal it will capsize whatever is left of their roster.
what's your favorite team?
It’s like saving money 💰 if your not prepared for the future you’ll find yourself in a rocky situation
Dude, this is so different from 2005 its not even funny. I know you like Love, but he's a completely different tier of prospect from Rodgers in 2005.
Yeah it's not close. Love is good but Rodgers was great at Cal
Great video. Welcome to Green Bay Jordan Love 🧀🧀🧀❤
THANK YOU!
You also gotta realize the Packers have had 2 starting qbs in the last 30 years so we get attached to them ....people are just sad right now that the end is in sight for Aaron Rodgers
This is how I felt
Carry on the good work, big fan, you’ll be on ESPN one day
He doesn’t need ESPN. He makes better, more thoughtful content then they do now
God I hope not, he’s better than them
Man if the packers get a third all time great QB in a row I’m going to kill myself. There’s no way.
Isn't it just possible that Aaron Rodgers has told the packers that he doesn't have many years left and they should start looking around?
Alex F. He threw 17 picks after losing most of his starters and getting a new coach/offense
If you watch this video from the perspective of a Bears fan there’s no way you can relax.
i can they wasted a first rounder on a dude who isnt gonna start for 4 years
We are all just sad because we can actually see the end of Aaron Rodgers in sight ...it has been an amazing ride the last 15 years and hopefully another 3 years left and we can get him the second super bowl he deserves
Comparing Aaron Rodgers to Alex Smith. Accurate Comp!
Thank you Zac, Packers fans need to chill. We won't be complaining when we're still competing for championships in five years with Love while the Saints and Bucs are lost after their old QBs are retired.
I want to know who went first in 05 a qb from Utah
Ideally, you draft for the future. So if they see Love starting in a few years kudos to them.
Only two Super Bowls where love is the MVP could possibly justify this pic
This video and a day off helped me become ok with what we did getting love...
Accepting this I really wish we went different in round 2&3.
Like those players but we could’ve got both later
this is such a refreshing take to hear as a packer fan
i’m honestly so happy for jordan love. he has a higher ceiling then kyler murray and this is the best situation for him.
This guy has the cadence of a priest
Blair Assani I wish Vikings fans on reddit thought as clearly as you do right here.
Rodgers suffered 2 broken collar bones, broken foot and 3 concusions that we know of.Yes he want too play past 40 but you never know.
I give it a little bit over a year before 500k subs. Guys the best doing it right now.
Can you imagine the trade value of one or two years of Aaron Rogers, that’s way more than a first and a fourth
This was an excellent pick. Packer fan for 50 years. Name how many first round receivers have led their team to the super bowl. Answer:none
A couple of things:
Man i really hope that we drafted a third hall of famer qb
Mo Krispin Wouldn’t he be the fourth? Assuming Rodgers is in the HOF you’ve also got Brett Favre and Bart Starr
@@DoubleTen95 the packers didn't draft brett favre dawg
Haha, I remember a little less than a year ago how you said the same to the Raiders fans: relax, Antonio Brown will work just fine in Oakland ;)
