Burmese was an absolute beauty. I am so sad that I was too young to see such an exceptional duo working so wonderfully together. May the Beautiful Queen and her Beloved Mare be reunited in the heaven when the time comes.
I am retired Welsh guards . I was on this parade . We where trooping our colour . I am bloody proud of the queen for not panicking , and Burmese for being such a professional Hanoverian cross thoroughbred mare . RIP my queen and Burmese . Such an amazing partnership .
The whole incident happened so fast but was dealt with quickly. The Queen stayed so calm and patted Burmese and continued on with the ceremony. Her Majesty seemed unflappable in any situation. Rest in Peace Your Majesty.
Our friend Syliva Stanier worked for Queen Elizabeth and trained Burmese in side saddle. Syliva was awarded an LVO for her training when the blanks were fired at Queen Elizabeth - the horse did not bolt because of the shot, for she had been trained with gunshots but because one of the security party cantered up beside her and startled the horse. Queen Elizabeth and her beloved horses are together again.
Having owned and loved a black Canadian mare that was a veteran of many parades, I can relate to this story. After doing just about everything with horses over the past 30 years, it's my opinion that parades are the most dangerous thing you can do with a horse, when total risk is considered. You have not only your own and your horse's safety to look after, but that of the public as well. A runaway horse can do a lot of damage, and if they get spooked those barriers mean nothing. And you have absolutely no idea of what the public will do. They love to see the horses, but most have no idea of the risks. And there is always the worry that there's someone in the crowd with intent to harm. You know all that, but stay calm, smile, and wave.
I understand being truly happy when with horses. Many years ago, when I WORKED at a 40-horse stable, someone remarked I always was smiling when I rode. I hadn't even realized it. I love that the queen loved horses. ( we apparently share distant ancestors via her mother)
Wow Queen was a boss, she just laughed, she didn't flinch when them shots rang out ,patted her horse and carried on ,always respected the Queen not English but still , she was 1 strong woman only Queen I ever new in my lifetime
When the sculptor was designing the statue of the Queen riding Burmese, she contacted Buckingham Palace to supply photos of the hat the Queen had been wearing during that trooping of the colour. She received a telephone reply from Her Majesty. After discussing the hat the Queen asked if having the hat itself would be better, and of course it would. So the Queen shipped the hat over to Canada for the sculptor to use. It is a beautiful statue.
Queen Elizabeth and her beautiful Burmese 😍 I love their unique little love story. 💕 I'm the same with my furbaby. He goes wherever I go. I will also have him buried with me. A bond that cannot be broken.
There’s no way that horse is 90 years old. Do horses live that long? I thought only tortoises and trees lived to 90. Wait is the Queen a horse? This is some strange news for sure.
There's so much misleading hype about the queen and this film is guilty like so many others. What do you base "keen and skilled rider" on? Is that the judgement of a professional horse person or just made up by a journalist? The newsreel documentary film created when she was 18, with her sister Margaret, clearly showed that her riding skills were poor (especially compared to her younger sister) and I've seen nothing since that has changed that.
@@ChanT3 so do you agree that her riding skills were limited? My impression remains unchanged. I keep looking but there's nothing factual out there that confirms that she was any more than average. It's all hype and money.
"if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head." (1 Corinthians 11:6)
Frpm Alice L Finz Many CHRISTian women have short hair. Corinthians had a cultural reason for women having the heads covered. Prostitutes did not cover their heads. Male prostitutes in Corinth had longer hair.
@Lori Talbot: Why does the queen and why do all royal women always wear a hat to church? Because of 1 Corinthians chapter 11, Christian women through history up until the last 40 - 50 years always had their heads covered when they were worshiping, praying, teaching Sunday School etc. Since the 1970s this has changed as most churches modernized, but some churches still retain this tradition because they believe the Bible is God’s word and is still in effect for God’s people today. The Christians I know in India still follow this principle, also many African Christians I know. Women belonging to some churches keep their heads covered nearly all of the time, so they are always ready to pray. Some of those churches are Amish, Mennonite, Brethren, Hutterite, and there are more. If you are curious about it, read the New Testament of the Bible, book of 1 Corinthians, chapter 11.

Wow.. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police had the honor to ride the Queen's horses and lead the Queen's funeral procession. She truly loved them
@@allenl9214 I think the normal police horses behaved well too. that big Drum Horse was fine sight standing in the doorway of the Army stable.
Absolutely LOVED the black horses the Canadian Mounties rode heading up the queen’s funeral parade. Stunning & breathtaking ❤
All 4 horses were ones that the Mounties gave her ,they live on her farm at Windsor.

Gosh I miss the Queen. Her reign has been unmatched as well. ❣
Hard to control a startled horse while riding side saddle. They both did extremely well. x

Deep dive…and this Riding Master Scott Williamson is a part of history….Bless the Queen.
She is so good looking
The Queen is so sadly missed.
I will love to ride a horse one day istg
Burmese quickly steadied and he and the Queen carried on has steady as a rock. When He retired the Queen retired from riding side saddle too.
HM still had the Fell ponies to ride.
How old he
Burmese was born in 1962.
If the horse was a mare, why do they keep saying "he"?
Did you have a winner

Burmese was born in 1962 and died in 1990. From 69 to 86 the Queen rode her in the trooping of the colour.
