That is some jasper (Common/German wasp) nest, must be one of the largest one I have ever seen, I am surprised you don't use raw ammonia to kill them, When you come across hornets, they are big as your thumb. And you don't want to get stung by them, it's extremely painful
What’s amazing to me is that the squirrel is a lot more friendly then the so-called domesticated chickens. The chickens will barely let you pet them once or twice before they strut away from you. Animals that aren’t born from eggs are always friendlier.

I had chickens growing up. We used to toss Japanese beetles in buckets of sand and those ladies would stand there at the bucket ready to pounce as soon as a beetle clawed it’s way to the top. Chickens love bugs, no joke. I wish o had chickens now.
I have goosebumps just hearing them buzz. You deserve a medal getting anywhere near to them never mind up close and personal. Im allergic to stings and bites so avoid all insects, arachnids etc in general.

My family home sold recently and during renovations over the years there was a hornets nest left there oddly enough not one sting over the 50 years, my parents had a wood burning stove for the winter and these bees never made a mess or a noise. It was smaller than this nest and the colors changed over the years. The heat from the stove pipe kept them going for decades in upstate NY winters. Amazing video!
European Hornets are generally more chilled out than yellow jackets. But some nests are more sensitive than others. I have one in my garden which is very docile. They are very slow to anger which is a blessing for me.

I just watched about half of a very long video by a fellow in Australia(DAP). There's a huge difference between your knowledge and ethics and his showmanship. He lost me when he had two feet of comb, paper, and dead wasps on the floor and exclaimed, "I feel sorry for the homeowner, I'm not picking that up." No pride in his work. @@63mckenzie It's amazing isn't it. I remember seeing my 1st wasp nest, I had gone into my dads shed to get some thing and there was one right in the centre of the roof....wasn't there other week that i noticed, was only maybe the size of two fists.
A honey bee swarm arrived in my garden one summer. I thought the blue sky had clouded over black! They settled in a tree for 3 days and thankfully moved on. I called out a beekeeper and she put out a box for them nest in and move but they refused. The way they suddenly moved was just amazing to watch. Hope they found somewhere to make a nest.

Needless to say we sprayed the nest, luckily it was a small one and only had about 50 or so guys living it in it so we did it ourselves but yeah hornets are nasty.

The one on the wall? That looked like a boxelder bug to me. They are harmless to people but sometimes make their way into buildings to find a spot to sleep for the winter.

literally nothing but respect for this man,, i high tail it out of any place that has even a single wasp or hornet and yeah sure he's got protective gear on, this guy is practically playing in the nest like its his favourite thing to do. truly insane, i had to get my landlord (who was over at the time fixing my window) to kill the single hornet that flew in while it was open, I could NEVER do what this man is doing
pls do not randomly kill hornets without knowing whether they are vespa crabro or vespa velutina- some hornets are very beneficial for the environment, safe, and eat mosquitoes and flies.

@@bassemghorab no need to panic they wont sting unless provoked- or unless you're next to their nest which is unlikely if you're at home. You also recognise them from far away because of the way the fly: Asian Hornets are smaller and can hover whereas European ones are slightly bigger and can't.

When I was a 10 year old kid I was swimming in my neighbor's aboveground pool right when it got warm enough to swim. What we didn't know was that there was a hornet nest underneath the metal cap at the top of the pool wall with at least 20 hornets in it. The waves me made put them all in the water and I surfaced right in the middle of them. Hate them to this day.
It's thanks to you that I recognized the signs of there being wasps in our front porch walls this summer! Except... we kinda decided to just leave them alone even after we found their entrance because they were the most incredibly docile wasps we've ever seen, and if we're gonna have wasps around anyway, we'd rather these ones spread than the ones we usually get. It was sort of a mistake because riiiiight before it started getting cold, they chewed all the way inside and now we're not sure what to do about the wall, or any of it really.
I'd see if you can identify if it's a species that moves after a year. Then you can just wait till next year and remove the nest and close all holes, until then try to keep out of the way. The less food there is the more agressive they get
@@rosemoon9219 That's a good idea. I'm not sure how to identify the type they are, though. They're smaller than the regular paper wasps that just make the 1 exposed disc of comb - except for the queens which are a little bigger.

As someone who has a massive fear of wasps and bees, I had the most anxiety I've had in years watching this video. Nice job getting those wasps out! Edit- me talking about my fear of wasps and bees has gotten me to the most likes I've had, thank you kind strangers!
I'm slightly less or more afraid of bees given the species. In summer, whenever you try to go up the driveway and out the gate by my house, you get greeted by friendly bees. Meanwhile yellow jackets..... yeah no.
And I continue to surprise myself. I am hooked. Never would have guessed how entertained I would be by watching this! This could honestly be a show on Discovery or something!
Hey Hornet King, got to to say mate, the videos are great. In a really odd way they are very interesting, and relaxing to watch after a long day. Give you credit on how you hold the camera and torch in one hand whilst doing all the work with the other hand is commendable. Keep up the great work. I once snatched a hornets nest and threw it in a garbage bag, then put it in my garage freezer. I went to check it about 4 months later, I cut it open to see all the intricacies... Every one of those hornets were still alive. I've never messed with nature since. Damn nature. You scary.
It’s one thing to have to deal with the wasps and the removal of the nest,, but then add in the smell, which I imagine smells like death, I don’t know you do it. I’ve worked in healthcare for 16+ years, was wound care specialist for many of those years, and being in ORs, wound care clinics, nursing homes, etc, I’ve seen (and smelled) my fair share of putrid, and horrific conditions, and the one thing I never got used to, was the smell of rotting and decaying matter (flesh). Hats off to you, Bret….
I’m addicted to your content. I just love seeing the size of the nest when it’s uncovered and the satisfaction of seeing the wasps being vacuumed up. Not so keen on the squirming larvae though, but can’t seem to tear my eyes away from them. I learn a lot about them from your videos too. I’m in awe of the bond between you and the little squirrel that is comfortably perched on your knee, how special😊
That's amazing I'm a pest controller in the UK. But never see nests this big that's unreal man. Kudos to ya dude. Doing a great job. So satisfying when the customers are happy you have got rid of them lol
Wow...it's like you just opened a can of B-17 Bomber whoop-ass. That low frequency hum from the buzzing wings over my stereo system sounds like an air-raid of death (or lots of pain, lol)!
I'd say the venom of a European Hornet sting takes probably around 4 or 5 stings per kilo of body mass to kill. There were more than enough in there to kill several people.
One of my biggest questions that I usually have over these absolutely massive nests in homes is how the home owner doesn't notice or do anything about it until it gets that bad. I would imagine you would hear and smell them at the least.
Hmm, I wondered about this as well…maybe because they build nests in areas of the house that the home owners don’t spend as much time in? Like the garage or the roof/ceiling area. Idk for sure because I think seeing even one hornet is already enough of a cause for alarm and immediately hiring a person like Hornet King to get rid of them.
Well this was an empty dormer apartment above a garage. It looked empty so I imagine no one goes in there. If you look at the homeowners reply, they did say the bees had been bombing them when they walked outside so it sounds like the garage is separate and this apartment is above that garage and not in their actual house. The homeowner did reply and their reply is pinned at the top as the first comment
I respect all the bee/wasp/hornet 'tubers, with that being said... your video presentations and smooth commentary are levels above the others. No disrespect at all to others... I mean that. I noticed you: bleeped a tiny verbal "slip" (keeping it family friendly ! :) ), explain clearly and calmly, remain respectful and conscious of your customers environment , no complaining about heat/driving/ access...etc , maintained good audio/video for your customers and followers . If I had choice any service at all to eradicate a hornet type issue, YOU would get the job first because of all of those things. The lonely stingbug sits pretty calm on the wall most of the time while hell is on the lose :3 I'm always amazed by the "paper" houses you have to cut up - as a person who have been always living in a strong, brick building. If I would like to open up the wall, I would need a pickaxe or a very big hammer.
@Mr Guy They do get inbetween the brick layers of our brickhouses, our pest control just drills a hole in the brick and fills the cavety with poison. Waits a week. Checks if there is still activity. If there is, they get a seccond shower. Otherwise it gets left in there. It's imposible to get to it. Or you'll be making a lot more damage then the nest is making.

" angry buzzing hornets " are not angry just confused and sad their home is being destroyed, they are very nice and eat mostly flies and mosquitoes as opposed to the Asian Hornet invading the U.K., which decapitates bees by the dozen, Vespa Velutina.
That is the most enormous sized hornet's nest I've ever seen. The noise of those hornets in between hoovering was so loud in my headphones. Being from England, European hornets are the native breed here and in the wild they are relatively docile but that many in someone's house was pretty scary. Love watching the chickens feast on the larva though. And watching your squirrel feed from your hands was a cute end to the hornet storm 😉

i have so many questions. were the wasps stinging you? how do you prevent them from stinging you? i’m guessing they were upset about their home being destroyed, but they seemed to be more interested in the window and flying around than being mad at you. also why weren’t the wasps flying away when you opened the vacuum?
They were certainly TRYING to sting me, but they are unable to penetrate my suit. Once in a living space like this, they become disoriented and the only thing they really know what to do it fly towards the sunlight, so that's why they always fly towards windows. There's soapy water inside the vacuum which kills them as they are vacuumed up. In this case, there were so many that all the water was absorbed and not all the Hornets were completely dead, but mostly dying by the time I opened the vacuum.

Looks so peaceful n relaxing. I remember when my grandfather had hogs, chicken's, boat fishing, rabbit dogs hunting. And his best friend had coon dogs. Some of the best times of my life. I wish this generation could experience things like that instead of social media. 🙏

I have wasps as pets every season, just because they nest within my windows. They aren't causing problems and the most I've ever seen a season were around 30. I've grown to like them, even with a potential allergy on my part. I am the least scared person in regards to wasps that I know of, but this was fucking terrifying.
I like wasps. Wasps are chill. You leave them be, they'll leave you be. Hornets are assholes though. And most bumblebees will let you pet them while they're busy feeding off a flower. Also I too like bugs. Stinkbugs like holing up in my house for the winter so I gather them and put them into a tank with food and water until spring. They're fun to watch. I also remember going to my mom's work when I was little. The little lobby was like 90°, so the floor was FLOODED with Boxelder bugs. I mean EVERYWHERE. There must have been over a thousand in the 10'x6' entryway. It was fun to watch them. Bugs are free entertainment.

I was reading up on these things, they also hunt Cicadas. I'm thinking that's why they have been so voluminous this year! The massive numbers of cicadas provided food supplies for the nests to just balloon in size and population. I bring trains into Enola Yard from Altoona, and We we're seeing populations of the hornets as far west as Newport. When I say populations, I don't mean a random bug here or there. I mean aerial armadas of these things. We don't normally see them at all. The other night I found a few on the nose of my engine as I was putting the train away. I used some ice water from our cooler to shock and slow their metabolism, and caught two of them in a water bottle. They weren't happy when they warmed up in the cab of the engine. But I missed what I think was the queen... Flying around it's hard to gauge size, but was definitely bigger than the two I caught. I almost feel bad for all the queens that will try to build colonies next year... It's gonna be hard to get that much food without a massive cicada crop to harvest. By the way, I think the European Hornet videos have become my favorites. I was surprised how docile they appeared once the nest was cracked open. They really didn't appear to swarm you.. almost as of they knew there was no point in trying to defend the nest.
On another note: I’ve learned so much from your channel. I really don’t waste much time watching the other wasp removal videos but I did see one the other day. The nest was massive and there was a queen on the windowsill and he went into some thing about that’s what you want to get, the queen, she’s the troublemaker, etc. So I had to comment: “That was A queen, not THE queen. THE queen is buried in the comb somewhere.” Thanks for all you do. I find all of this fascinating!

Honey bees are always welcome. Bees and Hornets Just mind their own Business and are not as anoying as yellowjackets for example

There are adapters you can get that can increase the suction on your shop vac at a hardware store.
I gotta say, they were pretty cool about it and didn't seem to mind their home being destroyed by some giant in a white suit.

literally nothing but respect for this man,, i high tail it out of any place that has even a single wasp or hornet and yeah sure he's got protective gear on, this guy is practically playing in the nest like its his favourite thing to do. truly insane, i had to get my landlord (who was over at the time fixing my window) to kill the single hornet that flew in while it was open, I could NEVER do what this man is doing

pls do not randomly kill hornets without knowing whether they are vespa crabro or vespa velutina- some hornets are very beneficial for the environment, safe, and eat mosquitoes and flies.

@@bassemghorab no need to panic they wont sting unless provoked- or unless you're next to their nest which is unlikely if you're at home. You also recognise them from far away because of the way the fly: Asian Hornets are smaller and can hover whereas European ones are slightly bigger and can't.

Seriously I hate Hornets. When I was a 10 year old kid I was swimming in my neighbor's aboveground pool right when it got warm enough to swim. What we didn't know was that there was a hornet nest underneath the metal cap at the top of the pool wall with at least 20 hornets in it. The waves me made put them all in the water and I surfaced right in the middle of them. Hate them to this day.
It's thanks to you that I recognized the signs of there being wasps in our front porch walls this summer! Except... we kinda decided to just leave them alone even after we found their entrance because they were the most incredibly docile wasps we've ever seen, and if we're gonna have wasps around anyway, we'd rather these ones spread than the ones we usually get. It was sort of a mistake because riiiiight before it started getting cold, they chewed all the way inside and now we're not sure what to do about the wall, or any of it really.
I'd see if you can identify if it's a species that moves after a year. Then you can just wait till next year and remove the nest and close all holes, until then try to keep out of the way. The less food there is the more agressive they get
@@rosemoon9219 That's a good idea. I'm not sure how to identify the type they are, though. They're smaller than the regular paper wasps that just make the 1 exposed disc of comb - except for the queens which are a little bigger.

I'm slightly less or more afraid of bees given the species. In summer, whenever you try to go up the driveway and out the gate by my house, you get greeted by friendly bees. Meanwhile yellow jackets..... yeah no.

I once snatched a hornets nest and threw it in a garbage bag, then put it in my garage freezer. I went to check it about 4 months later, I cut it open to see all the intricacies... Every one of those hornets were still alive. I've never messed with nature since. Damn nature. You scary.

It’s one thing to have to deal with the wasps and the removal of the nest,, but then add in the smell, which I imagine smells like death, I don’t know you do it. I’ve worked in healthcare for 16+ years, was wound care specialist for many of those years, and being in ORs, wound care clinics, nursing homes, etc, I’ve seen (and smelled) my fair share of putrid, and horrific conditions, and the one thing I never got used to, was the smell of rotting and decaying matter (flesh). Hats off to you, Bret….

Wow...it's like you just opened a can of B-17 Bomber whoop-ass. That low frequency hum from the buzzing wings over my stereo system sounds like an air-raid of death (or lots of pain, lol)!
I'd say the venom of a European Hornet sting takes probably around 4 or 5 stings per kilo of body mass to kill. There were more than enough in there to kill several people.
Feeding the squirrel could have honestly been a video in and of itself and probably gotten a ton of views too. That was adorable.

One of my biggest questions that I usually have over these absolutely massive nests in homes is how the home owner doesn't notice or do anything about it until it gets that bad. I would imagine you would hear and smell them at the least.

Hmm, I wondered about this as well…maybe because they build nests in areas of the house that the home owners don’t spend as much time in? Like the garage or the roof/ceiling area. Idk for sure because I think seeing even one hornet is already enough of a cause for alarm and immediately hiring a person like Hornet King to get rid of them.

Well this was an empty dormer apartment above a garage. It looked empty so I imagine no one goes in there. If you look at the homeowners reply, they did say the bees had been bombing them when they walked outside so it sounds like the garage is separate and this apartment is above that garage and not in their actual house. The homeowner did reply and their reply is pinned at the top as the first comment

I'm always amazed by the "paper" houses you have to cut up - as a person who have been always living in a strong, brick building. If I would like to open up the wall, I would need a pickaxe or a very big hammer.
@Mr Guy They do get inbetween the brick layers of our brickhouses, our pest control just drills a hole in the brick and fills the cavety with poison. Waits a week. Checks if there is still activity. If there is, they get a seccond shower. Otherwise it gets left in there. It's imposible to get to it. Or you'll be making a lot more damage then the nest is making.

That is the most enormous sized hornet's nest I've ever seen. The noise of those hornets in between hoovering was so loud in my headphones. Being from England, European hornets are the native breed here and in the wild they are relatively docile but that many in someone's house was pretty scary. Love watching the chickens feast on the larva though. And watching your squirrel feed from your hands was a cute end to the hornet storm 😉

i have so many questions. were the wasps stinging you? how do you prevent them from stinging you? i’m guessing they were upset about their home being destroyed, but they seemed to be more interested in the window and flying around than being mad at you. also why weren’t the wasps flying away when you opened the vacuum?
They were certainly TRYING to sting me, but they are unable to penetrate my suit. Once in a living space like this, they become disoriented and the only thing they really know what to do it fly towards the sunlight, so that's why they always fly towards windows. There's soapy water inside the vacuum which kills them as they are vacuumed up. In this case, there were so many that all the water was absorbed and not all the Hornets were completely dead, but mostly dying by the time I opened the vacuum.

Looks so peaceful n relaxing. I remember when my grandfather had hogs, chicken's, boat fishing, rabbit dogs hunting. And his best friend had coon dogs. Some of the best times of my life. I wish this generation could experience things like that instead of social media. 🙏

I have wasps as pets every season, just because they nest within my windows. They aren't causing problems and the most I've ever seen a season were around 30.
I've grown to like them, even with a potential allergy on my part. I am the least scared person in regards to wasps that I know of, but this was fucking terrifying.
I like wasps. Wasps are chill. You leave them be, they'll leave you be. Hornets are assholes though. And most bumblebees will let you pet them while they're busy feeding off a flower.
Also I too like bugs. Stinkbugs like holing up in my house for the winter so I gather them and put them into a tank with food and water until spring. They're fun to watch.
I also remember going to my mom's work when I was little. The little lobby was like 90°, so the floor was FLOODED with Boxelder bugs. I mean EVERYWHERE. There must have been over a thousand in the 10'x6' entryway. It was fun to watch them. Bugs are free entertainment.

I was reading up on these things, they also hunt Cicadas. I'm thinking that's why they have been so voluminous this year! The massive numbers of cicadas provided food supplies for the nests to just balloon in size and population.
I bring trains into Enola Yard from Altoona, and We we're seeing populations of the hornets as far west as Newport. When I say populations, I don't mean a random bug here or there. I mean aerial armadas of these things. We don't normally see them at all.
The other night I found a few on the nose of my engine as I was putting the train away. I used some ice water from our cooler to shock and slow their metabolism, and caught two of them in a water bottle. They weren't happy when they warmed up in the cab of the engine. But I missed what I think was the queen... Flying around it's hard to gauge size, but was definitely bigger than the two I caught.
I almost feel bad for all the queens that will try to build colonies next year... It's gonna be hard to get that much food without a massive cicada crop to harvest.
By the way, I think the European Hornet videos have become my favorites.
I was surprised how docile they appeared once the nest was cracked open. They really didn't appear to swarm you.. almost as of they knew there was no point in trying to defend the nest.
On another note: I’ve learned so much from your channel. I really don’t waste much time watching the other wasp removal videos but I did see one the other day. The nest was massive and there was a queen on the windowsill and he went into some thing about that’s what you want to get, the queen, she’s the troublemaker, etc. So I had to comment: “That was A queen, not THE queen. THE queen is buried in the comb somewhere.” Thanks for all you do. I find all of this fascinating!
