You get into these Ferraris and Lambos and everyone just hates you or makes a big scene every time you park. This sedan looks like just another Audi, which is nice to see in the land of overly styled sport sedan market
It's wild to me that a car like this at that price point doesn't have cooled seats. With leather seats in the south, those are a game changer and seem to be pretty standard in this kind of a car, and optional in alot of cheaper ones.
Audi can’t be bothered to engineer ventilation on their quilted seats for some reason. The plain black leather ones do but color choice is limited to black

I don't even care about Audis that much, but I have to say I love when Doug shows us a more obscure model in a brand's line-up! Also, I remember when this A6 launched and I was like "That's such a pretty car :o" then A7 and RS6 launched and and I never looked back 😂❤️
@@Benjamin_Jehne The title of the video implies obscurity. I don't know what Doug was thinking with that one. I really like the 2.9 TFSI these cars get in the overseas market. In Europe they are unfortunately only sold with a 3.0l TDI engine with a whole 100 less horsepower. The Diesel does not only have less power than the equivalent car in other markets, it literally has 100 less horsepower than the previous European market S6 as well. Even if the Diesel was even remotely able to match the 2.9 TFSI in performance (which it absolutely isn't, it's almost a second slower 0-60), the Diesel still wouldn't be the car to get. You buy an S6 because you care about the performance and the driving experience, which the Diesel just can't deliver. It doesn't feel special in any way despite having S6 badging all over the place, it looks and feels like some boring airport rental car and the Diesel exhaust note doesn't help in any way.
Came here to write exactly the same thing but you were first:). In Poland I definitely see more rs6's and rs7's than s6's. And it is no brainer why, who in his right mind would think "I want sportier version of audi A6 so .... I will take the one with diesel under the bonnet".
Can only agree with you, drove the S6 Avant back when it was brand new, for a few weeks. Of course not a bad car, but just felt like an A6 with a big diesel and some fake V8 sound when in "Dynamic" Mode, just felt nowhere near as sporty or thrilling as an M340i for example.

Sedans have just gotten way too low and impractical for most people. You look atbolder sedans and they just had much more practical deisgns. Also trunks are huge waste of potential space.
@@7cougar0 Trucks are just there for me. You know what you're getting. Sedans have actively shot themselves in the foot (wheel?) constantly. That's why people are moving away from it.
The v6 is definitely the low side of the S6, but I personally think I enjoyed this over the other German offerings in the segment. There’s just something rock solid and easy about an Audi sedan, simple and relaxed. I guess I just don’t look for high performance in a midsized or larger sedan, but I want passing power. The BMW is way too busy on the inside and the Merc just doesn’t feel as premium with its creaking interior trim pieces. I guess as a premium and powerful daily driver this seems to suit the mold for me.
Long time audi driver here, I have a mildly tuned '16 S6 and absolutely feel as though its the best all-rounder I've ever driven. It's a stealth highway missel, proper tires in the Summer and it can manage most twisties without issues and conversely do a fantastic job in the mountains in Winter months. I put a large ski box on top for long road trips and combined with the large trunk can swallow allot of gear comfortably. I've driven several 1000+ mile stints and get out feeling relatively good. Its a 100lb.'s lighter than the S7 counterpart as well. The market is wide open for them so good buys can be had.
The writing pad is so cute. You'd think they would know better in Germany. Try writing names like this on that pad: "Burgemeester Baron van Voorst tot Voorstweg" "Wethouder Fierman Eduard Meerburg senior kade" "Ir. Mr. Dr. van Waterschoot van der Grachtstraat" For some insane reason the thought that names and titles of people would make for good street names. I have no clue what most of the streets near me are called even though I've lived here for 15 years.
I really like my A6 because of the tech, interior, and driving experience. I don’t know if A6/S6 drivers even want this car to be as mainstream as the 5 series or E class cars. It’s understated and I’m good with that as long as Audi doesn’t forget about it 😂
Now would be a good time to remind everyone that Audi was the first brand to pioneer LED strips in their headlights leading to full LED light bars in both headlights and tail lights in pretty much every car nowadays. That being said, they still better be good at designing new age lighting

it's not forgotten, only 10% behind the E class. Doug was just talking shit :D . Manufactured since 1972, the 5 Series is the second best-selling BMW ever with over 7 million sales globally so far. In February 2017 the 7th generation production began. In second place ranks the Mercedes E Class, which sold 64,499 units (-11.3%). Starting with the new naming strategy applied by Mercedes in the early ’90s, the model began production in 1993 and is actually at its 5th generation (since 2016). The Audi A6 maintains 3rd position with 59,599 cumulative sales, a 41.1% decrease from the prior year."

The marketing teams can't fathom the idea that SUV carry not just more... it can carry a household.... as in people are buying up SUVs thanks to 2020 and getting kicked out of their homes noticing that a SUV is way more comfortable to sleep in than a sedan... I wish I had a SUV to sleep in... when I was homeless and now because I would remain without a house... only more so by choice... just to save money... the largest expenses people can have is rent/mortgage, which mortgage is cheaper if you qualify to own a home, and owning a car... now a car being a home on wheels that is legal and you can live in if you should go homeless because you rent or couldn't afford the house you got... is a better option to buy just in case terrible things happen... you have a place to stay... your SUV... its similar to the Great Depression when banks were not trusted and people hide their money in mattresses.....same things here.... its a ... if I get kicked out at least I have the SUV to live in instead of a tent under a bridge....LOL
I always thought I was a five-door type when it came to cars, thinking greater jack-of-all-trades utility, but between the A7/S7 and the A6/S6 I like the 6 best. It doesn't try to be everything. I think with the advent of SUVs and jacked wagons like the Allroad etc, that naturally excelled better at the actual utility part, I developed a new appreciation for traditional old school sedans that no longer have to "do it all." A friend has an SL, and he actually prides himself that he can't take an extra passenger when is sometimes asked.... it says you're wealthy enough that you can afford to just say "no"... and have strictly a toy for your own driving pleasure. Perhaps a bit of odd psychology but, you can't do what you can't do! Well, the sedan is sort of that way about stuff! When it comes to apartment moving duty: "Sorry, I can't..." 🙂 I'm not advocating for being a jerk to friends here, you help how you can, but sometimes there is an advantage to not owning a 'moving van' like virtually everybody has now, for everybody to assume...! That...and it's beautiful. I like it better than the sleek 7.
I love the US take on this. Sedans are the standard in Germany, even now when SUVs are popular as well. Most people buy sedans or, when they have a family, a waggon. A6, 5 Series and E-Class are the standard cars of the middle class business man. The Passat Waggon is the Car most bought/ leased by the middle class dad. And I would say, Audi, BMW and Mercedes are on the same level of sales here in germany. No matter if 3 series, A4 or C-Class or the big brothers 5 series, A6 or the E-Class. It's still the norm here that you want a german Car when you have the money for it. We usually don't buy asian cars and especially not french or american cars.
To be fair, for under $1000 you can do a stage 1 tune and get those HP up over 500, plus add another 100f lb of torque and smooth out the power delivery. For anyone that wants to save some money and get performance equal to the E63 or M550, it’s still a great option.

We're on our third C7 S6 and after driving our 2018 back to back with the 2023 model, both my wife and I greatly preferred the last model. Most auto manufacturers use flat-line for the radar sensors which have more limitations compared to dome which is what Audi uses mainly in their line up, with few exceptions. The dome radar sensors just work better and can detect more. In addition, Audi does an incredible job at hiding features that these cars have by not labeling. Once you get to know the car, everything is ergonomically designed you don't need any labels because it becomes muscle memory. It's one of the best features about Audi compared to other auto manufacturers.
How does a car this pricey not have active lane keep assist as standard? Heck, my $27k Kia Forte had it and it was an amazing system. The base model Honda Civic has that feature lol. After getting the feature on my last 4 cars, I would never buy another one without it, especially considering even cheap economy cars have it now
It does have it, there is a button on the side of the turn signal and that turns it on. It keeps you in the lane really well and also stop and go traffic, every 20 seconds or so you'd have to touch the steering wheel like a Tesla. It doesn't have auto lane change though
The same reason Porsche and all the other luxury carmakers nickel and dime you for stuff that's standard on a base model Honda. They know you're not cross-shopping this with a Honda. You want a German luxury car and you're willing to pay for it. They make stuff like adaptive cruise control optional because they can. Porsche would charge extra for transparent glass and round wheels if they could.
@Doug the Lane Keeping Assist is at the indicator you can see it at 10:07 above your thumb on the indicator, you have to press that. Then the active lane keeping assist starts...

+1 I actually love how BMW incorporated idrive screen in the E90 and F10
I think the reason More manufacturers don't do it is likely VW Group I.E. the parent company of Audi may have a patent on that technology and others don't want to pay VW Group so they can't legally use their gage screen like that.

I love how it flies under the radar. You wouldn't know that this is Audi's very fast sedan from the outside, which is nice.
Doug, it has automatic steering! You have to press the button on the side of the stalk that you were touching. It's not labeled, but I'm sure it's there. I have a 2023 A5 that has the feature, there's no way this doesn't have it.
This is the best looking sedan in the market. Period. It's so subtle yet muscular

Hey Doug - great review as always. When mentioning the quirks/ features of the trunk don’t forget the rear seats fold down making the trunk quite functional. For a cyclist like me I bought this car so I didn’t have to go the SUV route.
Also put it Dynamic mode then Sport mode and it is much faster than my previous BMW 540.
I love my S6!
Yes! Rear fold down seats is a must have for us cyclist!

I never forgot about the S6! Still one of my favorite sport sedans.
They have auto steering for lane keeping but not for lane changing. Button is on the turning light control stick!
I don't even care about Audis that much, but I have to say I love when Doug shows us a more obscure model in a brand's line-up!
Also, I remember when this A6 launched and I was like "That's such a pretty car :o" then A7 and RS6 launched and and I never looked back 😂❤️
Obscure model lol
Obscure?
Obscure? The A6 is THE standard model next to the A4.
@@Benjamin_Jehne The title of the video implies obscurity. I don't know what Doug was thinking with that one. Nobody forgot about it; everyone knows it's there and there's just nothing to discuss about it. It's "Audi's mildly-sporty sedan that doesn't have cramped backseats and doesn't approach $100K."
Absolutely dreadful that they do not offer the S6 with this 2.9 tfsi powertrain and avant in Europe. That car would at least have a chance.
The next gen S will have a petrol engine in europe aswell.

agree, I can't stand SUVs, they are soccer Mom mobiles with a twist. Always been a fan of sports sedans, I have an S3 stage 2 and its a total BLAST
I think this screen size is perfect. Large screens ruin the look of the dash and this screen size is equally functional and keeps the design of the dash just as it should be. I was in a Q3 last month, same dashboard, and love it. Design and functions, not judt a big screen in the air like tesla
It’s very weird that you posted this video today but this morning I was watching a bunch of videos on the S6 🤔 😅
Pretty sure I saw the Lane keep assist button on the lighting stalk. Steers car to stay in lane. Also park assist, which guides steering into and out of parking spots. So it does have steering assist with the auto cruise control. President the button on the end of the lighting stalk
I think this is the best-looking sedan on the market. I especially like how muscular it looks under the C pillar. Absolutely gorgeous. A shame people don't really like sedans anymore. I would buy this over any SUV.
yup I love the S6 as well, it would compliment my stage 2 S3 8.5V perfectly . I can't stand SUV's, they are glorified soccer Mom mobiles.
Sedans have just gotten way too low and impractical for most people. You look atbolder sedans and they just had much more practical deisgns. Also trunks are huge waste of potential space.

It does have lane keep assist and it works great! Drove from NY to Florida and back last summer barely touching the steering wheel.
Try writing names like this on that pad:
"Burgemeester Baron van Voorst tot Voorstweg"
"Wethouder Fierman Eduard Meerburg senior kade"
"Ir. Mr. Dr. van Waterschoot van der Grachtstraat"
For some insane reason the thought that names and titles of people would make for good street names. I have no clue what most of the streets near me are called even though I've lived here for 15 years.
thats crazy
I really like my A6 because of the tech, interior, and driving experience. I don’t know if A6/S6 drivers even want this car to be as mainstream as the 5 series or E class cars. It’s understated and I’m good with that as long as Audi doesn’t forget about it 😂
Audi has most of the RS models in the states yet doesn’t want to bring the rs4. I just want an rs4 avant
Looks so good from outside and inside, wish i had one of these.
Now would be a good time to remind everyone that Audi was the first brand to pioneer LED strips in their headlights leading to full LED light bars in both headlights and tail lights in pretty much every car nowadays. That being said, they still better be good at designing new age lighting
4:37 those adaptive cruise radar would probably appeal to the euro customers that get to pretend that they are under cover police 😂

Someone tell Doug that the S8 is the top of the line...
To be fair, for under $1000 you can do a stage 1 tune and get those HP up over 500, plus add another 100f lb of torque and smooth out the power delivery. For anyone that wants to save some money and get performance equal to the E63 or M550, it’s still a great option.
