Yeah...he's contradicting himself a lot of times. Complains that the heated seat controls are in the touch screen and hard to get to. A manufacturer puts easy physical buttons to control that and he says it's too many buttons....he's that type of guy I guess...
The size of the Flying Spur hasn't changed significantly since its launch in 2006. However, more safety and luxury features have been added over the years, together with the introduction of the ZF 8 speed automatic transmission (in the first generation it was a 6 speed), which meant that the weight of the car increased, and as a result, more power was added to the engine. With more weight and more power you're going to need larger brakes to stop the car more effectively.
Bigger brakes don’t necessarily have stronger clamping power to stop quicker. Brakes are bigger because they dissipate heat better than smaller brakes during repeated high speed braking. That’s why small sports cars like my GT3 have bigger brakes. Nothing to do with weight or the need to stop faster once. Just heat management during repetitive braking.
I feel like there is going to be a big crash in the automotive industry with car companies trying to go completely electric and everyone going to refuse to buy them and opt for older gas models.
8:36 So I get that there are a lot of buttons...but I love it. All in the Center console area too by the gear selector...YES. We'll see about Bentley going fully electric in 2030 given the current status of the EV market. I know this video was likely recorded months in advance, but my point still stands. Although, I can see Bentley having an EV for the same reason Rolls Royce has one and that's because Bentley is also a high-end luxury brand. However, Bentley is also known for being Rolls Royce's more sporty competition in addition to being really luxurious. I also really love the spec of the Flying Spur you reviewed here. I think it's a very classy spec, while also being sporty at the same time. I'd buy this example in a heartbeat. xD
It's hilarious how they were quick to accuse the Lincoln Continental of " copying " Bentley, yet the Continental was produced several years before this.
For all these luxury cars owned by major brands, I always like seeing all the components shared with cars costing one tenth the price. Screens, doors, seats, sun shade, door handles dash, controls are all just adapted VAG items. And vinyl seats too!

I will always appreciate automakers who retain the analogue ecosystem in the cars they produce. I am not a fan of everything being accessed through a single touchscreen interface. I like to see individual buttons that can be physically pressed and easy to access.
I hardly consider British racing green to be flamboyant. It may not be what you typically see on a luxury sedan, but I think it looks great on this Bentley
If it’s like Audi and Porsche, there’s likely a button in the middle of the lumbar adjustment that will activate the massage and bring up the screen to choose the program you want

Everything has to end at some point and that's a heck of a way to go out. Love the Flying Spur - the epitome of subtle fast luxury. I'll take one in "Regal Night" black.
I don’t know who had the idea of making a big fancy metal dial with a screen in the middle to put in luxury cars but whoever they are they need a raise because it looks fantastic in every car it’s been in, and will probably start to be in every luxury car that isn’t a Tesla. Biggest Example is the Chiron but it also looks great in the Bentleys and Rimac Nevera. All of these are related to the VW group in some way (Rimac and VW each own some of Bugatti, VW owns some of Rimac, and Bentley is owned by VW) and I think the Chiron was the first production car to feature it (correct me if I’m wrong) but I definitely remember seeing it in a concept car before that. Might have been the Bugatti sedan or Chiron concept.

I'm a sucker for green cars with bronze/gold trim pieces. I would also have the same exact interior as this press car funnily enough. I think it's a very classy spec, while also being sporty at the same time. I'd buy this example in a heartbeat. xD
The ultimate daily driver
Sad time in history to see this happening. I hope one day car manufacturers realize electrification is not the answer.
They already did. Germans are backing out of the "2035 eco-terrorism deal". It's real. It won't work. RIP EVs 😂
Saw one of these ‘in the flesh’ the other day. Gorgeous!
Doug - the brushed pattern on the dash is called ‘machine turned.’
The 2023 Bentley Flying Spur Speed reminds me a lot from Hunter Spur Saloon Concept from BURNOUT PARADISE.
No way I’d buy a Bentley with fake leather 😂
That " brushed" "half cirlce " design on the dash is called " perlage" its used in high end watch making on the movements.
If a herd of cattle didn’t die for your interior, is it really luxury?
If the leather is from cattle is it really luxury?
It's hilarious how they were quick to accuse the Lincoln Continental of " copying " Bentley, yet the Continental was produced several years before this.
For all these luxury cars owned by major brands, I always like seeing all the components shared with cars costing one tenth the price. Screens, doors, seats, sun shade, door handles dash, controls are all just adapted VAG items. And vinyl seats too!
😂. Hood latch of a VW Caddy: saw this on a Bugatti, so probably same here. It's awful and doesn't feel right.
Ever wonder why pro athletes and rappers go broke? Because they invest in things like Bentleys. Park $300k in this car and watch it depreciate each year. Then factor in insurance, upkeep, and inflation.
Unless you wiz khalifa
Counter point: w12
The fact that even Bentley doesn't offer a leather interior is even more disgusting than sitting in another animals skin.
If i pay 300k for a car, i expect that at least 7 cows have died to make the seats
They do offer leather. What is that guy talking about?
Agree!
@@bobthebuilder201 He is talking about 'Dynamica-materials' (looks like leather, feels like leather, but is not leather. Better for the environment? I don't know. That goes through so many processes...)
Nobody, and I mean nobody, makes an interior quite like Bentley!👍
“They call it ‘British Racing Green’” …everyone calls it British Racing Green. It is arguably the most famous and most recognizable color in automotive history (outside of Rosso Corsa)
I will always appreciate automakers who retain the analogue ecosystem in the cars they produce. I am not a fan of everything being accessed through a single touchscreen interface. I like to see individual buttons that can be physically pressed and easy to access.
1. Do we think anyone outside of Dougs mother calls him Douglas?
2. So there are SEVEN speed badges on the car and that's subtle? What a world!
Sorry. ELEVEN speed badges!!
That triple-faced spinny dash-o-matic panel is pretty rad!
I've seen one in the parking lot of a grocery store in Ft. Lauderdale. And yes, it has a commanding presence and turned heads.
Actually, this dashboard screen is Audi VirtualCockpit and around for quite a number of years (at least a decade) in any number of Audis, if you choose to pay for it. Same with the night vision system.
Any car with a W12 is going to be a future classic. Mark my words. Even the Pheatons and A8s.
Ashamed to say that the "Reacher" show introduced me to this brand of car lol
I guess Doug doesn't ski very much because he doesn't realize that you put the skis in a WATERPROOF SKI BAG prior to sliding it into the passenger compartment. I adore how practical this car is. Would be great to take it to Val-d'Isère, Gstaad or Tahoe, eh?
I'd never quite realized before how the "metal circle things" (Metal turning) on the dashboard of mid 1970's Pontiac Trans Am's and American Motors Gremlin X's were a sure sign of luxury.
@Doug DeMuro: Saw a couple of these on the Interstate. Thanks a bunch for this one.
Also, Koenigsegg AB 5.0L V8s are my favourite engine ever made.
They smoke W12s hard. Even a good amount of V12s too.
Doug your knowledge, is very convincing. I have always heard Bentley is better than Rolls. And your passion for the W12 and wisdom. Made me a Bentley Believer. Thx.
The "B" mode is the customizable mode so you can choose various aspects between the two other modes and save them in that custom mode.
I think this green paint is far nicer than the common silver or black...and subtle, too
What a magnificent color! That's either British racing green, or something close to it.
These are such gorgeous cars just not in this spec. It doesn't look bad but other colors suit it perfectly.
Fantastic review, I forgot about this car, I'm in love with the style, proportions, and colour, but I'd get the "regular" Flying Spur. I remember when they were new, I loved the understated style.
I love the way you explain every detail the car you’re a wonderful person. I explain every detail aspect you can see you have a love for the Bentley and love for this type of car. Amazing amazing Bentley has picked someone to express their love and expressed the details would Bentley quality stands for unique, elegance, grace and powerful great job, Bentley 👑
IIRC there is a button where the seat controls are can bring up the massaging seats menu when pressed.
The Bentley this is one of the last of the Bentleys of this collection. The British green is absolutely just stunning and beautiful in real life in an amazing green Bentley. The speed bit me is one of a kind is gonna be collectors in time it’s timeless it’s elegant. It’s scrape. It’s just grab it while you can because these are knocking exist anymore. Especially these engine type is the last one of the year I believe correct but it’s amazing. Congratulations Bentley for something so beautiful exquisite executed the perfect color combination for exterior and exterior one of my favorites of all time of your business but all your Bentleys are my favorites. 👑💯
Not “ostentatious” I think that’s the word Doug is looking for to describe subdued British presence. A well done review!
In a Bentley, Doug's diction changes:
14:55 "what you have is sufficient" instead of ...'enough'
6:35 ...'gauche' becomes 'cool' at 15:30
😁
By the way, that textured diamond pattern on the signal stalk at 13:33 and 14:11 is known as knurling. Good stuff though Doug, ol'chap 😏
Doug is the type of the guy to note all the cool stuff as stuff he doesn’t like (the color, logo on ground, etc).
I love these new Bentleys. The flying Spurs and the GT models.
Never thought i'd like the look of a bentley, but thats an attractive car - that's a great green color too, whatchu talkin bout Doug.. See like 1000 chargers with a similar color
Please review INEOS Grenadier, just saw it in parking garage at airport and had no idea what it was , looked amazing.
9:32 - The massage button is located on the side of the seat with the controls. Same as some audis
Man, reviews are never the same when Doug is not outside
Smart move with the chair. Saves the 'ol knees
Dougs a young man. I hate to see him 10 years from now.
Hardly any progress from 2000s Bentley and VW Pheteon, only now they put in old plastic bottles as leather instead of the genuine leather and charge extra for it...
Everything has to end at some point and that's a heck of a way to go out. Love the Flying Spur - the epitome of subtle fast luxury. I'll take one in "Regal Night" black.
14:47 Isn't the button seen on the side of the seat a physical button for the massaging feature?
Yes, it is :)
@@Allmentux Lol aight, wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who noticed lol
@21:14…the term Doug is conspicuously not saying, is the way it’s been described for generations…”the hand of God”, is the feeling you get when you accelerate a Bentley.
