Hi Friends! thanks for watching. My stream with Horrible Reviews is this Sunday 11am EST. It will be on my channel, looking forward to chatting with you all. Also - I JUST STARTED SQUID GAME! Can't wait to talk about it next month.
For a horror show it was such an emotional experience. The last episode was beautiful and sad. I loved the contrast of Dev's last episode vs the rest of the people.
Really? It nearly drove me insane. The concept was great, the main story beats were great. The visuals (especially the angel) were great. But the dialogue was the worst I have ever heard in anything ever. They just droned on and on and on and on. Every time the scene changed and someone started talking I was like, oh my god here we go again. I’m gutted aswel as I was really looking forward to it.
Love all of your content, it's truly mad the time and effort that you put in, you care about every aspect! You give great reviews, recommendations and it's all thought out. You have audience interaction and interviews / shared lives! It actually annoys me to see the amount of channels who put minimal effort in. I recently saw a 31 days of horror, the only halloween list you'll need vid and it was quite literally a vague boring list of films that everyone has likely seen at least twice before 🙄 Your content is second to none Emma. So cheers 👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Mel, was a hard choice to make. But they really don’t get many views for how much work goes into them. I’d rather put all my time that week into two good videos that will be more interesting for everyone , than rush 7 short ones. I appreciate everyone being cool about it
I agree with We Need To Do Something feeling like I'm Thinking Of Ending Things, probably cause both those films are based on books, and the flashbacks as well. Looking forward to October's new upcoming films video.
I dont know if youve seen it but "My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To" it's a really cool perspective of a vampire movie like hereditary mixed with santa clarita diet but vampire
Best thing I watched this September was Malignant & Squid Game. Loved❤️them both and Really look forward to ' Last Night in Soho' this October and Ofcourse your Review too👍
So excited for your what to stream in October video!! So much good stuff coming out - can't wait to hear your thoughts :) Also wrote down a bunch from this list I need to catch!
I really appreciate what you had to say about changing your opinion on a film. I recently had a major change of heart with the recent Candyman. Loved it on first watch. Then I spent the weekend listening to a multitude of opinions before going to see it for a second time. I went from really enjoying it to completely losing respect for it. But I think that's part of being a cinephile, exploring and digging deeper into films the longer they sit with us. Also, your comments on Kevin Spacey are spot on for me. American Beauty is my favorite film and I haven't brought myself to rewatch it in a while because I hate his face 😅
i love live streams with you, we get to see and interact with you. You get to rest when you want, we'll be here for you Emma ❤️ (maybe treat us with a Halloween list before you go)
12 Angry Men is tremendous. It was one of those films for me that I wish someone had told me a lot earlier just how good it actually is, I should have watched it far sooner than I did.
D-Tox is 90s pure fun where nothing makes any sense. It is almost surreal. The cast was cool as far as I remember and I always love winter in any horror/thriller movie.
Thanks for the September list, Emma. It's going to be a busy October with all the films I hope to get to, including "Halloween Kills". I hope you have a very restful week off. Here is my list of horror/thrillers I saw in September: MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR (1954) - score 3/10 PHONE BOOTH (2002) - score 9/10 (always loved this "one location/real-time" thriller) JIGOKU (1960) - score 4/10 (disturbing Japanese film, especially for the time) MONSTROUS (2020) - score 4/10 DEVIL'S PARTNER (1961) - score 5/10 TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE (1959) - score 2/10 TEEN WOLF (1985) - score 6/10 TEEN WOLF TOO (1987) - score 4/10 THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE (1962) - score 3/10 BLACKENSTEIN (1973) - score 3/10 (very bad cash-in on "Blacula") RETURN OF DAIMAJIN (1966) - score 7/10 BLOOD AND LACE (1971) - score 5/10 (not the Mario Bava film "Blood And Black Lace") GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) - score 10/10 (hadn't seen in decades, it's still perfect) THE MASQUE OF RED DEATH (1964) - score 7/10 GAMERA: SUPER MONSTER (1980) - score 4/10 THE PREMATURE BURIAL (1962) - score 7/10
I love your channel! Could you do a review of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" and "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte"? These two films started the sub genre of older actresses starring in horror movies in the sixties.
Hi Emma 👋 - 12 Angry Men is a classic in black & white with brilliant character actors & a rare look at how justice ⚖ is supposed to be reached in the 🇺🇸.
....I'm still really perplexed by you giving The Girl on the Train 3.5 stars and The Guest only 2.5 stars...oh. OH. What? Lol I still love you all the same, Emma! 😜
Not horror, but the TV series "Stateless" on Netflix is my latest obsession. Yvonne Strahovski is simply astounding as a woman without a country. And it takes place in Australia! Highly recommend. Thanks for another great list, Emma! "Midnight Mass" is next on mine.
sorry Jennifer, a mini version would change my whole schedule. I work a day job so doing 13/31 days is always a huge job, and not many people even watch anymore. I struggle making 3 videos a week as is (2 for my channel 1 for my patreon). Gotta take a break sometimes just like everyone else.
I completely understand. I just so very much enjoyed that content and will miss it. But of course your well-being is vastly more important. Love your Channel and all the goods on spooky stuff that you always supply.
I liked Martyr's Lane more than you did, but didn't like Malignant as much. Different strokes.. Thanks for another great video. I always got into your 31 days of horror and 13 days of horror videos. I will miss them, but do what is best for you. I will keep watching. Looking forward to the October streaming video.
I was really hoping to hear your thoughts of squid games! I think it was a bit predictable but not in a way that was annoying. Every second was just so fun to watch. Really reminded me of the movie Would You Rather in a lot of aspects.
Coming Home in the Dark cannot recover from the atrocity in the first act, even if the characters most affected by it seem to. I saw it as part of the MIFF online festival this year and really only watched to the end as I'd already paid for it. The baddie in Superhost starts on 10 and stays there, exhausting and obvious. Maybe points for being the first AirBnb horror?
Great video as always! I know you probably see this comment a lot, but have you watched the Netflix series Squid Game? I'm not a big fan of TV shows as I never finish them and I usually prefer movies, but I binged the entire first season in one day yesterday. It's absolutely wild and probably one of the best TV shows I've seen in a long time.
@@atmosphericentry0 yesss!! Squid Game was the Only best TV show I watched this September that I just included in my comment Up there :) Great recommendation for Emma. I'm sure she will love it👍
We Need to do Something definitely had some of the ambiguity on display in Thinking of Ending Things! It Comes at Night also came to mind (another Pat Healy entry!)
I absolutely love your end of the month videos! There are so many movies/series I add to my list to check out because of you. You rock so hard! And you enjoy your week break in Oct, you deserve it. Live your best spooky life. 🎃💕
watched we need to do something with a friend and it was def an interesting watch. I had fun but I don’t think it did any revolutionary and my friend didn’t like how open-ended it was
"Kevin can F*ck Himself" (best TV series name ever) was a very rewarding, but also extremely hard to watch experience. I suffer from Bipolar II and the portrayal that the character of Allison (Annie Murphy) puts on screen makes me feels like the writers got into my head, took some of my most personal thoughts and behaviors, and then put them on the screen for everyone to see. And the cinematography could not be more perfect for the subject. The way Bipolar II was written in this show is so accurate is almost disturbing.
@@spookyastronauts I don’t believe it was mentioned even once during the show, so you didn’t miss that part. But even the cinematography follows more or less the way Bipolar feels. In my experience, when people thinks about bipolar, they think about some guy suddenly believing is god, or jumping of a building because he thinks he can fly. That is call a maniac episode and they are kind of the signature for bipolar I. Bipolar II is more about having relatively short episodes the hypomania lasting between a couple of days and a couple of weeks (you don’t believe you’re god, but you do go out and buy everything you can, shopping sprees are a very common symptom of hypomania) followed by, at least in my case, months or even years of deep, borderline suicidal depression. The cinematography captures that perfectly, with “Kevin time” being all crisp and bright, while the rest being bleak and dark. I can go on and on, but if you’re curious I’ll encourage you to read a little bit about bipolar I and II. The wikipedia article is a good starting point. Just to be clear, I’m not a mental health expert, I’m just a guy with more than 40 years of first hand experience. BTW, Silver Lining Playbook is another great depiction of mental illness, bipolar for Pat (Bradley Cooper) and depression for Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence). Wanna see what I (and my psychiatrist) believe is one of the best if not the best depiction of bipolar, depression, dementia, anxiety disorder, and more? Go watch Bojack Horseman. Really. Didn’t mentioned it before, but I love your channel!
Emma, I truly loved Midnight Mass & Mike Flanagan's directing & writing, esp of the dialogue between actors, it was fantastic & their acting incredible, & I was very impressed by Hamish Linklater. I did However find it tragic & I cried at the last episode, & SPOILER WARNING was very Sad at end of ep 5 I think, where poor Riley let himself Burn-up & Die, instead of giving in to the Bad of what he'd do to survive after having been attacked & changed by you-know- what. I request you do a Spoiler-Filled review of Midnight Mass cus I've a question I want to ask about why No one ever uses the word that accurately defines what the supposed "angel" Really is, Why that Word (it starts w/a V) is Never used by at least Riley, Erin or the Doctor even In the last two episodes??!
Midnight Mass is the most amazing horror experience I've had the pleasure if viewing in a while. Amazing character building. Despite the two main "horror" themes (religion & ______) the main threat/monster is fear.
I enjoyed Superhost. Like you say, dumb fun. Braindead an absolute classic, probably in my top 20 films of all time. What We Do In The Shadows is SUPERB. Kevin Can F*** Himself sounds interesting. Have to check it out
The ending to Clickbait could not have been handled worse. It was cartoonish. The rest of it I pretty much liked and thought it had a few new things to say about how quickly we judge things or tap into our lizard brains for a quick fix and the resulting damage those things can cause. I hope Squid Game will be on your list next month!
I'm pretty sure there's more than just the two of you. I personally just don't let it it bother me. When you look at the thousands of people in the credits of the average movie these days, statistically you know that somewhere in there are some pretty horrible people who've done all manner of things you'd hate them for...in the case of people like Spacey, the only difference is you know which of them it is. No matter how or where you spend your money, some of it is going to end up in the hands of some real jerks.
Just wondering why? Was he ever convicted of anything? I've done some casual reading over the past couple of years and I may have missed something, but I've yet to see any "guilty" charges. Granted, I could be lacking information. Or is this a "Michael Jackson" situation where it has gone to court and the defendant was given a not guilty verdict by a jury of 12 people who have far more information than we do? I mean, seriously, I don't know. Ive read a lot of "texts deleted by accuser" and "charges dropped", etc so I'm honestly wondering why there's so much hatred regarding accusations.
We need to do something was bad for me. I thought it would be a mix of weird stuff and parenthal issues... And it went nowhere. Malignant I loved so much. It was obvious and I got what was happening in the beginning. I laughed so hard with the killing scenes that it was worth it and it was actually the first james wan movie that I liked after SAW. Probably not a popular opinion, I know, but yeah... And martyr's lane was nice initially and became boring towards the end with all that... Magic stuff? Didn't understand that either
How Quentin Tarantino has not remade 12 Angry Men I can't understand. It would be perfect. Not that it needs it, I just think it would fit him perfectly.
Coming Home in the Dark gave away way too much too early. Good film but some scenes I found brutally uncomfortable to watch. Super host didn’t enjoy. I thought the ‘host’ was really well played though. Some great recommendations that I haven’t seen so thank you.
Have you ever done a commentary on the movie" the house with a hundred eyes "? If so was it a standalone commentary or was it a part of a compilation? I personally believe this is one of the best found-footage movies ever made, it has comedy certainly horror and the last 30 minutes is probably the best ending of any found-footage film. I would be highly interested and viewing that commentary if you have made one.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is utterly disgusted by Kevin Spacey's face. Great list though Emma!
I’m intrigued by The Girl on the Train because I REALLY disliked the book… so maybe I’ll love the movie since people who liked the book hated it? 👀
It was remade in 1997 by director William Friedkin.
Coming Home in the Dark gave away way too much too early. Good film but some scenes I found brutally uncomfortable to watch. Super host didn’t enjoy. I thought the ‘host’ was really well played though.
Some great recommendations that I haven’t seen so thank you.
I still haven't seen Dead Alive😒
The Life of David Gale is a bad movie, but worth watching just for the insane absurdity of the ending. Kind of like Malignant or The Book on Henry.
Squid Game review
The Medium
It’s not out yet?
First time I watched The Guest, I thought I watched the wrong movie. I don't hate it; just don't get it.
Emma, if you haven't already, watch Squid Game.
Yes! See the pinned comment :) started it just after this video. Almost finished
You need to watch Squid Game
See pinned comment ☺️
Ugh felt so validated when you said you weren't into The Guest. The ending was good fun, but everything up to that part was just... not for me.
💚🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bleed With Me was SO disappointing. It had the atmosphere and potential to be really disturbing, but the story and ending was so limp.
Honestly didn’t have high hopes for it 🥲
@@spookyastronauts I need to lower my expectations 😂
emma is cute !!!!
I actually really enjoyed Clickbait, but found the ending to be soooo ridiculous.
The Guest was a decent movie. I enjoyed it, although the movie is completely fucked up.
D-Tox is the worst movie ever made
😂😂
